The location is very good.

Its kinda dirty and the floor is very squeaky, also there is a weird smell that wont go away. Also there was no wifi connection, which was very unpleasant.

Convenient place to the venue party we were attending.

1. The cold water tap on the sink was loose and swivelled around each time it was turned on. The whole tap needs to be repaired 2. There was no one around to check us in. No reception. No breakfast facilities. No welcome. Very impersonal and blunt lady handed us the key. 3. The remote control on the TV did not work. It took several times to press it before channels would change. 4. Bedroom overlooked windows of other buildings. 5. Parking was expensive and not convenient. Took driving around several times before we found a spot.

The room was amazing. It was spacious and the bathroom was big as well. It was clean and modern. The beds were comfortable.

Ik was hier ongeveer 20 jaar geleden geweest, de pub was nog gezellig zoals in mijn gedachten. Maar verder wat minpuntjes.

Ontbijt start laat, 9 uur. daarom elders ontbijt genomen. Kamer ontzettend warm, bij de vraag om een verlengsnoer om de ventilator voor het raam te plaatsen (dat raam kon maar 10 cm open) was het antwoord direct NEE, zonder ook maar te zoeken of meedenken.

If it wasn’t for the staff being polite then I would give this place 1

We booked a table for Sunday lunch and it was horrendous. We had to send it back as the gravy on the plate was cold, after they had nuked it in the microwave. The meet and veg looked like it had been cooked and left the whole day then warmed up at the last minute. Told the staff who apologised but didn’t do anything about it. Breakfast this morning was again served with bacon which was so overdone that you could have used it as a deadly weapon, it was that hard. Now for the room, unfortunately it has the remains of when it was owned by hush heath. Don’t think it has had a good clean for months. Stains on the carpet, door frames rotting away and the mould on the shower tiles, and broken seals on the shower door. Staff were very polite and friendly that’s the only positive thing I can say. Very disappointed and I know from the other couple we talked to today, they felt the same way, I feel sorry for them having to stay there two nights

Excellent location to stay in Rye. Opposite the famous Mermaid Street. Central to everything. Large rooms. Comfy bed. All you needed.

A few pictures on the wall would be an added touch. Otherwise all was lovely. A shame there was no jazz here this year for the festival.

De kamer was zo klein dat hij niet geschikt was voor 2 personen. Geen stoelen, geen desk, geen plaats om je koffers neer te zetten, geen kast voor je kleiding. De badkamer ook zo klein dat je er nauwelijks met één peroon in kon.

The lady who checked us in was friendly & chatty. Showed us to our room. Nice comfortable bed & lovely powerful shower. Hotel is in a good location.

A few tiles in the shower had mould on. Also only 1 teabag per person in the room, I like a few cups in the morning.

Lovely place to stay. Breakfast was really good. The location was excellent. Staff were very friendly. The only item I would say is the rooms were very warm, we did have a fan but it was still warm in our room. That is the only thing. Everything else no Complaints at all.

The room was clean, the bathroom facilities were fine and the bed was very comfortable. Overall it looked a little tired, but that didn't stop us being perfectly comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We were only provided with one large bath towel and two small hand towels, which was odd for two people staying for for two nights. The poorest part of the provision was the breakfast. There were no healthy breakfast options (muesli, yogurt or fresh fruit) and every egg dish was served on highly processed cheap, white bread, despite being advertised as "sourdough". Service was also very slow. When we were there the management were apparently away on holiday, but had clearly not best trained their staff or the running of the kitchen and stock.

Went to Rye for an overnight trip so only stayed one night, but the room was big, tastefully decorated and good sized, clean bathroom. Bed was comfortable and the location was great, close to everything (but Rye is not big!). Staff were friendly and helpful.

Parking is not included but luckily we found paid parking just behind. Otherwise it was great!

Location super carina e tenuta benissimo. Camera con spazi ampi. Ah piedi della strada che porta nel centro storico (tra l’altro a mio parere delle via più caratteristica). Personale gentile. É un pub quindi si può anche bere e mangiare :)

Absolutely nothing, the place is a filthy death trap

Nearly being killed by the very heavy glass shower door falling on me, then to add insult to injury being told by the manager that I can't pull the door closed because the runners have worn away and don't stay in the track! Feeling VERY unsafe due to the shower incident PLUS the door handle to the room was hanging off. No response from the manager to the email sent the night of my arrival to inform him that it was not fit for purpose, unsafe and filthy and I left at 11pm that night and refused to stay. I requested a refund, which under the circumstances I felt was warranted, but surprisingly NO RESPONSE. As a licensee myself, I shall be contacting the health and safety officer, the fire officer and the environmental health dept to make them fully aware of the conditions.

The Ship Inn offered excellent value for money as a place to stay in Rye. Located at the bottom of the town centre it offers easy access to the town. A public car park was easy to find and only a short walk away . All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was included with a good range of options. Happy to recommend.

We stayed during the hottest week of the year and the bed had a winter duvet. The staff said they were waiting for summer ones to arrive. This made no difference to our stay as it was too hot for any size duvet.

The service was very good, the room was clean and the shower was also good and easy to use. The bed was comfortable with good bed covering. A fan was provided for extra ventilation. There was a key to enter the premises when the pub was closed

Breakfast was not provided until 9am, I felt that it would have been better to have breakfast earlier at say 8.30am. I had to pay extra for breakfast and did not feel that it was good value for money. I could not get Wifi coverage in my room

Mooie ligging. Mooie pub met lekker eten en vriendelijk personeel. De cosy double room is echter piepklein en je kan nergens je bagage kwijt. In die zin zijn de prijzen totaal overpriced. Dus geen goede prijs kwaliteit.

Die Lage war top und ein Parkplatz war direkt um die Ecke. Es war schön, direkt vor dem Hotel draußen etwas trinken zu können und die Möwen über sich fliegen zu sehen.

Sehr kleiner Flur, steile enge Treppen, mega kleines Zimmer (Foto anbei im Weitwinkel) wo wir keinen Platz hatten, um unserer Tasche abzustellen geschweige denn zu öffnen. Auch das Bad war viel zu klein und zwei Personen konnten in keinem der beiden Räume nebeneinander stehen, abends viel der Strom aus, was aber schnell behoben wurde. Die Öffnungszeiten der Gastronomie waren bis 22:00 Uhr angegeben und um 21:35 Uhr konnten wir schon nichts mehr bestellen... die Lady in der Bar, war aber sehr nett.

Gorgeous old pub, if you like that sort of thing, which I do. Quirky and very well located for exploring old Rye. We had no trouble finding parking nearby.

The water was very hot which made the shower almost unusable. One breakfast was served up not as described. Both of these were mentioned to the manager and he responded politely.

Het personeel was heel behulpzaam en super aardig. De kamers waren echt heel leuk en schoon. We hebben heerlijk gegeten en ontbeten. Zeker een aanrader. Het dorpje is ook erg leuk. Voor een eerste nacht na de boor naar Dover een goede plek om je reis door Engeland te beginnen.

Our room was so hot neither of us got hardly any sleep in the two nights we stayed We wondered why there was a portable fan on in our room when we arrived as it was not that warm outside Our room appeared to be above a boiler house or similar so even though the night time outdoor temperatures were quite low we were getting toasted throughout, despite undoing the catch on the window and jamming it up with a wedge to fully open it and try and get some air in. On arrival tv didn’t work so being an electrician looked at the leads hanging down behind the tv, the aerial cable was not plugged into the tv, got the tv going but then realised the batteries in the remote needed changing! Asked for the tea condiments tray to be refilled as only one breakfast tea bag and very little sugar and milk, loads of herbal teas and coffee!

We booked with breakfast and in the morning the lady (very unfriedly) informed us that they do not serve breakfast. Luckily, next door was a small cafe (very freindly, very good breakfast and very helpful). The day before, we skipped dinner at this location as we saw on othger tables how it looke like, We only had a drink (all warm) and a bag of crisps. The room was noisy as the the neighbours thought they must sind all the night.

The main issue was the staff. We definitely felt they served locals before any tourists even though we were at the bar before them.

Die Zimmer sind unterm Dach und auf keinen Fall im Sommer zu empfehlen. Nicht nur, dass die Zimmer super klein sind, man kann das Fenster nur minimal öffnen und die Hitze ist fast nicht auszuhalten. Leider wurde morgens ein Feueralarm ausgelöst, die Feuerwehr hat 30 Minuten gebraucht, sie war aber noch vor dem Personal da. Diese kam leider erst viel später und wir saßen über 1 Stunde im Schlafdress vor dem Hotel. Wenn es eine Ernstfall gewesen wäre, würde das Haus nicht mehr stehen. Eher kein gutes Gefühl.

The room was very nice, and the bed was very comfortable, the bar area was good, and the staff were very friendly.

My only minor issue was that breakfast was from 0900 on Saturday, and I needed to be elsewhere by 0945. It was good that I could have cereals straightaway, but in the end, the tea came about 15 minutes later, and just a few slices of toast came by about 0925, bearing in mind I was the first one down there in the morning. Some places which have a toast machine at least mean for someone like me who doesnt eat a full english, then I could have finished a bit quicker.

Very small room and cramped feel bathroom even smaller. Tv had no remote asked for one which was supplied tv still did not work. Advised staff said they would pass on but could not rectify problem. Ended up Leaving to go home at midnight as was so hot in this room felt claustrophobic

Bed was comfortable. Location was excellent

Room was hot, unable to open windows more than 4". Not a nice welcome by staff. Because of this we didn't use the bar or dining. Floor very uneven, major gap under door, yes old pub but simple fixes available. Mould in very small shower. Hot water was dangerously hot, could scald some one.

A cosy, nice room in a classical English inn. Ours was on the third floor, quiet, facing Mermaid Street and the hill. The staff were very welcoming. The room has a good bathroom, a wonderful bed and plenty of refreshments for tea.

Nothing went well apart from the staff who were very helpful and friendly.

We should have complained that the room was extremely small and had no air conditioning. There was nowhere to put our small case without falling over it. (we believed it would have air conditioning). The temperature in the room was well over 35C. No effort had been made to improve the room according to the weather. We had a winter weight duvet. I put a wet towel on my body overnight to survive the heat. We had to leave the following morning but were refused a refund as we booked via Booking.com.

Great location, room was v comfortable with lovely en-suite. We had dinner in the pub food was v good.

Bar closed at 10 pm without notice so not able to have nightcap dispute being a resident.

It was clean and the staff were very helpful.

The room was very small and poorly ventilated with a warning that pigeons may come into the room if window left open. The breakfast was disappointing with a poor selection of cereals, no fruit, yoghurt etc and eggs served on white sliced bread despite requesting brown.

Wir haben bei warmen Außentemperaturen unter dem Dach ein kleines Zimmer bekommen, wo das Fenster extra nur 10 cm zu öffnen ging. Es gab kein AC, nur einen Ventilator. Es war eine Zumutung, hier zu übernachten. Wir haben die ganze Nacht kein Auge zugetan und sind um 6 Uhr abgereist. Im Auto hätten wir besser geschlafen.

Hosts did what they needed to —nothing more . The whole loo wobbled!! There was no plug for the bath . So no bath ! There was no remote —so no TV.

Good location. Friendly staff and warm welcome. Banging Sunday roast! The room was great. Beautiful decor and a nice comfy bed. Great variety of drinks in the room along with a large bottle of water - most welcome.

The toilet rocked from side to side - don’t know whether bolts had come loose. Being an old building the water was slow to get to the taps and also the taps were loose and spun as you turned for more water.

Comfortable and with dinning and bar facilities. Not noisy.

No water in the room and check in process was not clear. Room was very hot (it was not a hot day) Bathroom laid out in a strange way and the door opened in severely restricting the space. While staff were friendly they were not very attentive.

Absolut hundefreundlich, sehr gut gelegen, das Personal war sehr freundlich . Das Abendessen war klasse.

Die Zimmer sind insgesamt ziemlich klein, mit Hund schon teilweise eine Herausforderung. Sie waren auch sehr warm! Leider waren der Lachs , die Pilze und der Black Pudding „aus“ und konnten auch für das zweite Frühstück nicht besorgt werden, schade.

De kamer was heel warm en het dekbed veel te dik voor de zomer. Zweten dus. De kamer was kaal en er stond niet eens een stoel. Er was ook geen kast. De verlichting was vredelijk. De douche in het bad was heel gevaarlijk. De badkamer had een afstapje, zodat ik midden in de nacht in de badkamer tuimelde. Ontbijten kon pas vanaf 9 uur en de helft was er niet,zelfs geen yoghurt voor de cornflakes.

Lovely historical pub in a wonderful location & huge respect to the cleaning team at the venue.

We were given room 6 with our young 2-year-old dog, which was located above the kitchen, and the heat in this very small bedroom was unbearable & we were very worried for the health of our dog. I believe anyone who stayed in this room would struggle to sleep. The staff very kindly moved us to another room the next night & we had a lovely sleep. The owners simply need to install an air conditioning unit in this room to resolve this major issue that would affect future negative reviews. Please note, this is the first negative review I've ever written on Booking.com

Personeel was correct maar niet vriendelijk. De vloeren in de kamer waren zeer schuin waardoor deuren niet aansluiten met de grond. Want het gevoel gaf van gebrek aan privacy.
