Terrific value for money in a clean, well maintained family lodge.

I loved the privacy of our room with the attached ensuite.

Parking was a bit limited but then you can park on street.

Great place as base for Mt Hutt skiing. Great communal spaces. The changes to our booking were checked, which was fantastic.

It was unfortunate that the staff covering the days off didn't quite cover fully, e.g. stoking the morning fire at 7am. I understand that this was the first fully-opened week in a while, so I am sure that this has been ironed out.

Multiple heating options, so room was warm on a very cold night. Room was very basic but clean and comfortable. Woman on front desk was amazing, super lovely and welcoming. Location was 30 seconds from the vet I had travelled to visit, so was perfect for me. Free wifi and carpark.

Room was a little basic / ugly. But no big deal.

I cannot recommend the Snow Denn Lodge enough. The host Katie is very friendly and very helpful with regards to getting me settled in answering all the questions I had about the area. The shared kitchen has plenty of pots/pans/utensils for cooking and plenty of fridge and cabinet space for ingredient and leftovers. There are lots of comfy couches in the upstairs common area and the TV has Netflix, which is nice. The whole lodge (rooms, toilets, showers, common areas) is kept very clean. My room (single cabin) came with its own heater, a very welcome feature, and the bed was comfy. While not 5-star spacious, it was by no means cramped; there was more than enough room for me, my clothes, my skis, my toiletries, and my chargers/devices. (Plus I was only ever in my room to sleep becuase the common areas were so nice.) Location wise, Snow Denn is right in the middle of town, a two-minute walk to the local pubs (Brown/Blue/Dubliner), supermarkets, and ski equipment stores. The WiFi works without any issues. I couldn't have asked for better accomodation to kick off my ski season.

Water pressure in the shower was a little light

Este alojamiento es cálido y acogedor. Es lo más parecido a una casa donde he estado durante mi solo trip por NZ y eso ha hecho que extienda mi estancia aquí para descansar y acabar de planificar el resto del viaje.

Lovely place to stay. Had a great kitchen and lounge area. Parking was good and easy access to shops nearby. A good range of kitchen stuff for preparing meals.

The bunk beds were apparently not comfortable at all, quite “boney”, but our doubles/queen beds were lovely.

Eine sehr gut ausgestattete Unterkunft. Sehr sauber, große Küche und Aufenthaltsbereich. Sehr ruhig gelegen und sehr freundliches Personal. Kann man auch für mehrere Tage empfehlen.

Staff are friendly and helpful, the fellow backpackers are friendly as well. Great location to supermarket and bars. Tidy room, comfy bed, and had everything I required there for cooking in the kitchen/dining room.

Could do with a bigger drying room for ski gear.

The public spaces are just delightful. Fireplace, open kitchen, lofted ceilings, cozy mezzanine, spacious fridge and extensive counter space. Fabulous grocery store just across the small skate park. Parking is very easy, and they have a gear room for your skis and boards, as well as a separate drying room. Overall very clean and cozy and fantastic value. I would definitely stay here again to ski in Canterbury.

The place is great, just some suggestions here for improvement. The kitchen towels seemed to have never been given a chance to dry, I would find them folded and put back in the drawer damp (could have been a guest too? I have no idea.) The towels smelled like milddew, which meant the dishes smelled like it too. So I washed all my dishes both before and after I used them, to be sure. It was a bit confusing what the dishes and drying protocol was supposed to be. Also, it was unclear to me whether boots are allowed indoors or not, there was a shoe rack by the door but only one pair of shoes were there besides mine and guests wore whatever inside. The showers left a little more to be desired as one of them ran cold (might be because someone else was showering simultaneously or right before me, but I didn't have enough nights to test it out.) The mattresses cave down in the middle, found it a little uncomfortable for my back. I saw the staff once, to check me in, and then never saw anyone from the property again.

Great location with walking distance to bars, restaurants, grocery. Cosy fireplace in the kitchen and front door bus stop to Mt Hutt for skiing. Affordable for solo skiers who don't mind dorms.

Such a great location in the heart of methven, the ski bus picked us up right outside and the lodge itself was so cozy! Great kitchen with an upstairs tv/lounging space, clean communal facilities. Staff were so kind and accomodating, letting us leave our bags early and checking in early. Would highly recommend staying here, we loved our time here.

The Lodge type facilities suited us very well. The kitchen was spacious and well appointed. Our room had the benefit of an en suite, which was clean and adequate.

The staff were very friendly & replied promptly when I asked to extend stay. The price was reasonable. The kitchen was well equiped. Especially liked the fire place in the kitchen. Everything was clean from our room to the kitchen. I would prefer a lighter duvet though my daughter liked the weighted duvet - so that's personal preference. The only concern was being able to hear people in the next room. I could hear snoring when I used the bathroom but at least couldn't hear this when we shut the bathroom door. Though in the morning it was quite noisy. Didn't really bother me as we were getting up anyway.

The beds and bedding were sooo uncomfortable. We were also unlucky enough to have the rattling drying room heater on the other side our pillows so didn’t sleep much on the first night.

Perhaps a small TV in the en suite room for older guests that couldn't manage the stairs to the TV lounge. Tea and coffee provided would be good. At the price, which was similar to a motel, Tea and Coffee facilities are usually included.
