We loved it! I took my brother in law for his 80th birthday! We self catered
We stayed on the 3rd floor and a bad drain smell was evident in the corridor and communal loo. Just a bit off putting.
All good as usual . I always look for YHA hostels when traveling .
Great location in the centre of town in a stunning old building . Rooms basic almost ikea like but very clean and great value for money . Staff super friendly and helpful . Yes I would stay again
Great staff
Parking restrictions
Great location, lovely staff and an excellent vibe
Nothing - all good
Good central location Access to free parking Walkable to a good selection of eateries
Location and parking
Eet tea towels and lack of sink plug in kitchen. There was only 9ne
The lounge, the facilities, the music room and the storage
disappointing that we had to take a five-bed as the twin-bed we originally booked had been taken.
The property was centrally located. The bistro was very good. The staff was friendly
Toplocatie, vriendelijk personeel. Mooi vormgegeven geheel. Nette kamers.
Location, food, lift. 24 hour free parking is only a few yards away.
We booked a double room but were given a 6 beded room with smelly bathroom. No towels, no toiletry, no TV, no kettle,
Loved the location which was quiet even on a bank holiday weekend. Such a quirky building and was so great for exploring Berwick upon Tweed. Had a lovely walk out to the lighthouse and along the town walls.
The bathroom had a terrible smell on arrival (toilet drains) and the shower water didn't drain fully away so the bathroom didn't feel clean. One of the staff came to 'freshen' it up as the smell hit you as soon as you walked into the room. The hostel was full so we couldn't change rooms.
Lovely Buiding and great location
Shower room was a bit grubby
The location of the property is amazing, with steps to the remparts from the building and the quayside just through a little archway. The 24 hour parking is extremely convenient. The staff were very friendly and gave a lot of good advice regarding things to do in the area and I’m so pleased we were recommended to visit the Slighted Fox bookshop! The cafe area is brilliant and my youngest spent hours quietly playing in the kids area.
The bathroom had a really strong odour that seemed structural rather than connected to any blocked drain - but I do understand there is an ongoing programme of refurbishment. Unfortunately, whilst advertising as having a restaurant onsite, during our stay food service stopped at 5. This meant that on our first evening I had to find an alternative with three tired children in tow.
Brilliant location
Beds were not super comfy
Loved the town centre location and 'quirkiness of the building and surroundings. Very pleasantly surprised by the relaxed dining area/bistro and good quality food. The staff were very approachable and helpful.
It wasnt really a 'not like' but we had booked a 4 bed/bunk bed room. Two people cancelled at last minute. However we felt the room would have been very crowded with 4 people. Maybe were just too old.
Fantastic location; hadn’t realised it was in the same building as the exhibition we’d come to see! Staff were all friendly and helpful. The accommodation is immaculate, in an interesting building. The cafe area is very pleasant. Easily the nicest YHA I’ve experienced.
Can’t fault it!
Excellent location, quiet, you can get a coffee at 7:30am, comfortable lounge area
Private room was expensive, coffee wasn’t great but overall it is a very good deal in Berwick
Good location, well equipped, great value for money
It was all good
Location was great. Would stay again if can get a private room for 3 with seperate beds other than a double bed bunk bed. As one of us had to sleep on the floor.
Staff gentile, abbastanza pulito,wifi accessibile
La doccia era terribile e ragazzi, date questi asciugamani
Location was great
Showers could be upgraded.
Good location and nice cafe.
So called emergency lighting in room - large bright green light shining in your face when you're trying to sleep. I had to drape a towel over it. Also not good value for single traveller.
The room was great, staff were friendly and the location was right next to a car park which, as it was the weekend, was free!
The Bathroom was in need of some tlc - there was a bit of a smell when we arrived, but after the first shower that subsided so can only assume that it was in the drain. The beds were fine for my wife and kids, but I did not find the mattress was very supportive.
super Lage, ruhig, zuvorkommendes Personal

Fine. Mostly clean and a good location.
The young staff seemed more interested in telling us about their personal issues rather than doing their job of simply checking us in!
Super friendly and informative staff. Great common areas, spacious kitchen. We had an accessible room (maybe because we are a family?) and it had a door directly to the hostel’s lovely outdoor area which allowed for easy access to the harbour where our car was. Great location near the town centre and harbour. I highly recommend this hostel, and that’s not something I say lightly! Also, there is a boat tour that leaves super close to the hostel - if you get lucky you might see dolphins!
The bathroom in our room was quite bleak. Probably partially because it was accessible and super big. The common drying room was not very effective - after more than 36 hrs of drying some clothes were still not fully dry.

We loved the reception area, location and staff. Beds look a bit East German (built to last) but are surprisingly comfortable, we always take our own pillows no matter where we stay to be on the safe side. Accommodation is very well sound proofed and we had no problem sleeping in our cosy room, however the town’s resident seagulls are more or less constant. Next time we will make full use of the kitchens when we book again.
My cooked veggie breakfast wasn’t great but it did the job, however the continental options made up for the overtly cooked eggs. Maybe Linda McCartney sausages would have worked better?
The location is an old building renovated in a very functional modern style. I booked a private room and found it comfortable, with a beautiful view and all the amenities. All the staff I met were very kind and smiling, making the experience even more pleasant.

Delightful stay with a lovely ambience and friendly staff inside a historic Granary Mill. Unique and really enjoyable. Look forward to staying again
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The family room was basic but clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was delicious.
De locatie.
De kamer,
I had 5 bed dorm to myself with a lovely en-suite bathroom. There was a fan in the room which was very welcome. I opted for the continental breakfast and enjoyed good coffee, yoghurt, fruits, croissants and crumpets

Welcoming, friendly helpful staff, comfortable room, Good facilities. A stones throw from the river and very good restaurants. Our first stay at a YHA a great experience. We will be joining 🙌
Semplice ma pulito e tranquillo
Nulla
Friendly vibes at the reception lobby.
Toilet light was blinking and then stopped working. Toilet was blackout. The fan in the toilet was making a lot of noise. Bed mattress was too spring and uncomfortable.
Teures Bier
Great location, great private room with private bathroom.
Toilet didn't flush properly
Great location, great facilities for the price.
All great
Lift out of order, which can happen, but no apparent attempt to fix it. Room and passage, on third floor, smelled of sewage. Staff left counter unattended for extended periods, and complained that I should have booked breakfast (presumably with the invisible man) before starting it. Ideal for diabetics. I paid as soon as someone condescended to turn up, of course.
The location is great
Nothing
Great location and friendly staff.
The quality of the room was bad, in particular the bathroom- the toilet didn’t flush properly, the shower pressure was poor ( they said it was normal), it needed redecorating, and in the main room the curtains were lacking a lot if hooks.
Location. Clean spacious room. Excellent vfm. Friendly staff
Nothing except the early finish for breakfast
Staff were super friendly and the family room was nice and safe and tidy. It was incredibly close to everything and a nice little place for an overnight stay.
The bathroom was a bit outdated and the pressure in the shower was a bit of a problem for the kids but otherwise a cheap dig for a night can’t complain too much!
Breakfast
Why was I put in a dorm of six beds when I booked for two twin beds
Welcoming staff, safe storage for the bike and a delicious breakfast. This was a comfortable stay
The warm welcome from Scott !
No light in the bathroom and children running after 10pm
The location was great. The building is fascinating and the cafe and communal areas were fab. We loved the comfy lounge and the comfy decor. Very welcoming too
Nothing not to like
Acceuil et bienveillance au Top.
Friendly and welcoming staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Fantastic well equipped facilities: lounge, dining room and kitchen. Brilliant location!

Loved the cafe in property. They made great coffee. Friendly staff and was interesting hearing about the history of the building. Lots of character! Would recommend as clean and best value stay.
Nothing. Great value and clean
Very friendly staff, excellent location, good breakfast provision. Good size of room.
Cleanliness and freshness of the room - bathroom smelt very damp and obviously never dried out properly or aired. Toilet smelled and needed a thorough clean.
Very central, welcoming and comfortable . The entrance area is a Bistro in the day so it was a great & homely first impression . All the staff that dealt with me from the reception and guys on breakfast duty were very polite welcoming and helpful. Being a Solo female traveller I was reassured that your booking is for the whole room so no sharing . The en-suite bathroom was clean and a nice hot powerful shower was welcome! Breakfast choices were continental and cooked . The continental was very adequate. On the 5th floor there was a huge kitchen & dining area with many stations and microwaves where you could prep your own food.
Nothing .
Very nice and helpful staff. Everything was great.
Nothing
The room i booked on booking.com wasnt the room i was given at all I asked for 2 single beds and got given 3 bunk beds in a dull room and when o asked for it to be changed to what I booked i was told there were none available so I had to then book a separate hotel and spend unnecessarily
Welcoming staff. Peace and calmness. Design and use of building.
The corners of the floor in the shower needed a thorough scrub. Insufficient cutlery and range of bowls in the self catering kitchen.
Everything was 👍
Friendly staff. Great cafe and good luggage storage.
lovely welcome, very surprised by the small bar/cafe...a bonus room clean and comfortable I would recommend to family/freinds
there wasn't anything to dislike
Great location. Great communal spaces. Comfortable and clean. Loads of space.
The shower didn't drain that well.
Great place right in the centre of Berwick - very clean, efficient, good rooms, good food/drinks available.
Would have been good to have tea/coffee available for free (£2+ per cup downstairs)
Venligt personale og fornuftige faciliteter
A really pleasant surprise. Our first time staying at a youth hostel. A great experience.
There wasn't anything not to like. Just a really pleasant time. Congratulations to all involved in making our stay so memorable.
Beautiful building with access to town and river. The place is spotlessly clean. The amenities are excellent and the staff friendly, helpful and really put icing on the cake. Which by the way is served every afternoon. All food erred is well cooked and tasty.
Nothing I loved it.
We found the continental breakfast excellent, beautful yogurt, cereals, fruit and pastries. The location of the property is excellent as it is in the centre of town within the town walls and is easily accessible to train and bus links and also lovely walks around the town.
Everything was very good for our stay
It was clean, warm and comfortable. It’s in a prime location, with good amenities.
Breakfast could have been better, there were no tomatoes and fried eggs were hard.
The ability to cook a meal in the self catering kitchen instead of yet another pub meal! The downside being that the nearest big supermarket is the others side of the bridge from the hostel. Good location for walking the old walls and by the river.
I thought I had booked a twin room but as happened previously, I was allocated a 6 bed bunk room. I find bunks too clostraphobic so was moved to a room with bunks plus one single on it's own. Apparently there is only one twin room so this happens frequently!!!
Great location, comfy, clean and friendly. Veru happy with the stay
Nettes Personal. Das Gebäude hat viel Charme. Ansonsten typisches Jugendherberge Niveau. Lage zentral.
Frühstück eher einfach. Zimmer und Betten sehr auf Jugendherberge Stil und Niveau.
Great location in the old town 1 min from the walls and estuary.
No longer offers dorm beds, which is kinda the whole point of a youth hostel. So a solo traveler has to book a whole room with 2 bunk and 2 single beds. The room itself was en-suite but not especially cosy.
Excellent location.
Beds are too short if you're 6'4" or over but that's not going to change any time soon.
We travelled fir 5 hours and were greeted by a lovely man. The place is beyond perfect. We will be back thank you.
Nothing all goodx
Great location, and great value
