The best place we have ever stayed in, everything was perfect.Very frendly people. We got a free room upgrade and free late check-out.

Wry friendly and helpful staff in a great location. Bonus for us that we got a free upgrade to our room and that we could also use the pools at the other resorts

We had a minor leak in our roof, but it was monsoon rain!

Ontzettend vriendelijk personeel., je voelt je enorm welkom. Man die de kamers onderhoudt maakt prachtige kunstwerken van de handdoeken. De jongen in het restaurant zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Wij hadden een zeer ruime kamer. Je krijgt een handdoek mee voor het strand. Unawatuna heeft veel leuke winkels, restaurants en een fijn strand om te zwemmen en snorkelen(helemaal rechts).

The pool was beautiful and enjoyed by all family and friends staying. Breakfast was fabulous. Great variety of Sri Lankan and Western options. Tom secured some amazing tuna and had it cooked for our dinner. It was sensational. Thilak was a fabolous driver - collecting us at midnight and driving us to Thambapanni. Sudath was there to welcome us at 3am with a genuine smile and warm welcome. Mr Anil was ever present in the wings to ensure we had whatever we needed for a wonderful stay. We will be recommending Thambapanni to friends and family.

Onze kamer in het bijgebouw was super. Waarschijnlijk gerenoveerd. Het leek als nieuw. Het zwembad en de omliggende voorzieningen waren super. Goed restaurant erbij met leuke prijzen. En dan het personeel, wat een schatten. Allemaal zo lief en behulpzaam.

Amazing hotel - fantastic service and staff do what ever they can to make your stay enjoyable. The hotel rooms are so clean, place and pool beautiful and the staff including lachman who works so hard to make sure you have a brilliant time nothing is to much trouble for him. fantastic breakfast from Jose who cooked our breakfast it was so good. 2 min walk from the beach . The manager and all the staff made us feel so welcome.

Loved our stay in the peaceful oasis of Thambapanni! Lovely pool with monkeys swinging overhead, airy spacious rooms and very friendly and helpful staff. Our extended family group of 7 (including 3 kids) would happily stay again.

The property has a unique Local charm, and staff were very friendly and accomodating. The room was lovely, however air conditioner was struggling a bit and pool was drained for maintenance. Staff generously swapped us to sister Thaproban resort where we enjoyed our stay with a great pool outside our room at no extra charge.

L’environnement nature et la présence d’animaux, tels que singes, écureuils et oiseaux donne du charme à cet hôtel. Le Chef du restaurant ainsi que son équipe ont été très attentifs et serviables, le chef en particulier, qui a séjourné et travaillé en Allemagne quatre ans.

pretty hotel. a bit tucked away from main strip but that made it quiet. lots of monkeys to enjoy. really helpful staff. big private terrace from bedroom. Pool pretty but small. lovely breakfast, lots of choice.

Massage was not that great. water in our shower was cold - but we never told the reception about this and they may have fixed it if we had said.

We hebben hier 3 nachten verbleven. Het personeel is heel lief, vriendelijk, behulpzaam en meedenkend. De kamer was ruim en de badkamer heel netjes. We hebben gebruik gemaakt van de yogales bij het hotel, die heel erg fijn en leerzaam was! Ook de massage was heel prettig. De locatie is dicht bij het strand, maar niet in de drukte. Ik zou Thambapanni Retreat zeker aanraden!

De bedden vonden we iets te zacht en er waren weinig stopcontacten in de kamer.

Le personnel est génial, le matelas est confortable et tous les jours la chambre est nettoyée. L’emplacement est idéal on peut tout faire à pieds même aller à la plage. Et vous pouvez même apercevoir des singes sur votre balcon. Le petit déjeuner est correct c’est un buffet.

Nous avions réservé une chambre supérieure et elle ne correspondait pas exactement aux photos, cela ne nous a pas dérangé mais il n’y avait pas de flexible de douche donc compliqué pour se laver. Il y a beaucoup de marche pour accéder à la chambre et quand il pleut ça glisse énormément j’en ai payé les frais…mais le personnel a été aux petits soins donc bon point.

Location was great very central. Staff were lovely and tried to rectify the issues we had with our room. Good hot water and pressure in shower.

Rooms appear worn and ours had a foist smell . We were moved which was great But A/C not functioning well due to the extreme heat they have been facing in recent months. Ants were an issue. And there are a lot of stairs to the rooms with no lift. Pool is pretty much in the reception area which isn’t ideal.

I had a great experience with yoga instructor Priyantha Hettige. He was skilled, supportive, and created a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere throughout the session. His instructions were clear and easy to follow, and he took the time to offer helpful guidance when needed. Highly recommended.

The staff was excellent, we reached at 7am and they happily gave us rooms so early. There were so many monkeys right in front of our room in the morning, it felt like we were in the middle of a jungle. They also have yoga classes everyday, my wife went of it and really enjoyed it

The room is fine, not the best but not bad too but I think the toilet needs a renovation. Also it took reallyong time for the a to cool in our room. We had booked this hotel because they had a private pool but to be honest the pool is super small and it looked better in photos than in real life so we never used it

Surašysiu trūkumus, kuriuos tikiuosiu viešbutis sutvarkys. Tai bus patyrusio keliautojo draugiški-broliški patarimai. Net ir aukštesnio lygio numeriuose yra nemažai techninių problemų. Tokių kaip surūdijęs, per visus galus purškiantis dušas, nepritvirtintas seifas, prastas klozeto dangtis, tik vienas kambario raktas (jei nepalieki rakto registratūroje, niekas negali sutvarkyti kambario :) ), dėmėti baldai. Skruzdėlės ir driežai kambaryje. Laiptų, kuriais leidžiamasi žemyn iš viršutinių aukštų lubos žemos, reikia ryškiai pažymėti, nes turistai pastoviai daužo galvas. Nepatraukliai patiekiami pusryčiai, jie nėra skanūs. Dar nepatiko rusų turistų gausa viešbutyje, bet čia ne viešbučio problema :) Žinoma, tai Šri Lankos stilius ir viskas tai gali būti priimta kaip norma. Bet smulkmenos parodo viešbučio kokybę ir leidžia sėkmingai konkuruoti viešbučių rinkoje.

Firstly, the wonderful staff who received and supported me during my stay. Secondly, the location and the lovely jungle-life environment of hotel. Finally, the value money for the price-quality offer for my room.

It had a Jungle feel and away from the noise of the busy streets.

Breakfast was basic. Only shutters on the windows no glass which made the room very dark

The location, the pool, the ayurvedic massage. We had a large superior room but with no view.

The shower was open to the elements and filled up with leaves. The staff's limited command of English made arranging things unnecessarily difficult sometimes.

Breakfast was good as was the evening meal we had.

Our room wasn’t very pleasant - certainly no views of the sea. It looked and felt run down and wasn’t in the main building. We overlooked a car park.

I did yoga here, it was the best activity I've ever been to. The coach is a professional, he tells and explains everything. I don't know English well, but I understood everything. I recommend yoga here.

We had a very nice time in this hotel. The staff was very helpfull and friendly. They did their utmost to make our stay a pleasant one. The food was delicious, the room was clean and tidy. Its very near everything we needed for our last 4 days at sri lanka.

The guesthouse has a great location, close to the beach and the main promenade, but tucked away so it's quiet. The staff, as everywhere in Sri Lanka, are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are cool, colonial style. Large terrace. The hotel is a bit in the woods, so you have to hide your things from the terrace so that the monkeys don't steal them. Breakfast is okay, the choice is not very large, a bit heavy for our European stomachs (pasta, curry, dahl, etc.). The staff will fry omelets/scrambled eggs/fried eggs on request. Very good fresh fruit. I definitely recommend it.

Very well placed in a peaceful part of Unawatuna. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. An excellent room with an outdoor shower which was quite novel. Good buffet breakfast too.

The shower was a ‘dribble’ but that didn’t detract from our stay.

La parte più emozionante del soggiorno è stato ritrovarsi un piccolo gruppo di scimmie sugli alberi davanti al balcone. Semplicemente fantastico essere così immersi nella natura ma con tutti i comfort dell’hotel.

Chambre spacieuse avec douche à l’extérieur. Jolie piscine bien arboré. Personnel très sympathique. Les chambres sont bien éloignés les uns des autres avec petite terrasse privative. L’autre hôtel qui donne directement sur la plage permet d’avoir gratuitement des matelas de plage. Le restaurant y est bon .

Nagyszerű helyen, egy ugrásra a strand és az éttermek, mégis csendes, dzsungeles környezetben

Aki nem szereti az állatok közelségét, annak zavaró lehet, hogy a majmok ott laknak a fákon. Nekünk ez is élmény volt. Éjszaka hallani lehet az állatok mozgását.

Personalet var virkelig imødekommende og hjælpsomme! De gav inspiration til hvor man skulle tage hen, fik hjælp med leje af scooter. Det var muligt at låne søsterhotellers pool og liggestole. Poolen på stedet var dejlig ren og hyggelig at være i. Morgenmaden var den bedste vi har fået i Sri Lanka, stor buffet hvor head cheaf Layahal står og laver lige de æg man har lyst til. Dygtig kok! Især Nudun Gimhan ydede virkelig en god service, altid en smil på læben og hjælpsom når vi havde brug for det. Og Tee som hjalp med anbefalinger til lokalområdet.

Alle Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Auch Sonderwünsche wurden wunderbar erfüllt. Es war wunderschön und gut gelegen 😊

Położenie basenu tuż przy recepcji odbierało prywatność co skutkowało, ze prawie nikt się w nim nie kąpał.

Frukosten var utmärkt! Jättemysigt, lugn gata. 5 minuter till stranden: Stora, rymliga rum. Hjälpsam personal.

Good location and staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The rooms didn’t have enough natural light. The pool may need to resort to similar water standards as the Taprobane waves.

The surrounding gardens were lovely. The staff were exceptionally polite and engaging with using their English language.

Goede locatie, veel restaurants in de buurt, heel vriendelijk personeel, hele ruime kamer met goede airco, mogelijkheid tot dagelijkse schoonmaakservice. We mochten in het zwembad van het hotel verderop zwemmen omdat het zwembad troebel was.

Hele kleine lekkage in het plafond, maar daar hadden we geen last van

Fijn om een zwembad te hebben! Er wonen aapjes in de bomen rond het zwembad, dus dat geeft een echte jungle vibe. In dat zwembad liggen wel wat blaadjes, maar logisch door de omgeving. De locatie is fijn, dichtbij het strand + restaurantjes en toch rustig. Hele ruime kamer, warme douche, groot en comfortabel bed, airco, en gratis handdoeken bij het zwembad. Vriendelijk ontvangst.

Mijn kamer lag boven het restaurant, dus zodra het ontbijt begon, hoorde ik dat. Het ontbijt vond ik tegenvallen. Een optie voor een Sri Lankaans ontbijt zou fijn zijn, evenals de mogelijkheid om aan te geven dat je vegetarisch eet en wat meer kwalitatieve producten (qua brood/zoetheid) mag je wel verwachten voor een hotel van deze prijs. Koelkast op de kamer maakt een vervelend (onophoudelijk) geluid. Ik vind het niet nodig dat ze op mijn deur komen kloppen (vroeg in de ochtend) om me een massage te verkopen. Ben je op zoek naar een van de meest betaalbare plekken in deze omgeving mét een zwembad, en ben je dol op een engels ontbijt, dan is het een prima plek.

Best Pool we‘ve had so far in SL. Super fresh water and only little chemicals. The people and staff are very kind and lovely. Massage, Yoga and Reiki was amazing!!

The staff was very friendly, Laxman and the property manager- Tushara were really knowledgable and helpful with everything regarding the stay.

We loved our stay in the jungly location just steps from the main road and therefore so quiet and peaceful. Great pool with shaded areas at all times if you want to escape the sun. Breakfast was good, though maybe repetitive. Room was huge with big bathroom, comfy bed and awesome balcony to watch all the wildlife! Monkeys and birds and squirrel chipmunks. Staff were amazing, especially T and the lovely lady at the front desk and the smiley bald maintenance guy. Good mini fridge too. Great to watch the going’s on and easy to walk to beach and restaurants.

Air condition was ok though not as efficient for size of room but ceiling fan helps too.

Puedes acceder a otros 2 hoteles de la misma empresa (uno en la playa donde tienes tumbonas gratis y otro con una piscina que se ve el mar). La comida estaba deliciosa, recomiendo mucho comer aquí. El desayuno también genial.

En la habitación de mis compañeras había cucarachas en el wc pero en la mía no tuve. Son un poco insistentes en que consumas en el hotel.

Simplemente MARAVILLOSO. Es un oasis del que no nos habríamos ido nunca, pero lamentablemente no nos podíamos quedar más días. La piscina, la vegetación, el trato del personal, la cena y el desayuno, el momento del disfrutar del aquí y ahora.... Simplemente todo INMEJORABLE. Repetiría, sin duda.

We were a large group and this was an ideal hotel for us. The rooms were lovely and most of us had balcony’s which were up high and felt like you were in the jungle and you could watch the monkeys. The staff really looked after us. We also had access to two sister hotels, one with a larger pool that we didn’t use, and one on the beach which we used and were able to use the sun loungers there. The breakfasts were very good.

The only issue we had was that there was quite a lot of confusion with our rooms and checking in was a difficult process. We had booked cheaper rooms that were being renovated and had kindly been upgraded at the same cost, however, in order to get a triple room which we had requested we had to pay a bit extra. This was despite several people in our group being put in rooms with an extra bed anyway so didn’t really make sense.

The location was fantastic, just set back from the road a little, quiet and a very peaceful atmosphere. I had a reiki session while I was there and it was one of the best I have had. Rooms were comfortable and the air con worked brilliantly. Staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful.

Sehr schöner Pool und angenehme Atmosphäre. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und der Host sehr hilfsbereit. Bei Nachfrage hat er uns zum Partnerhotel gebracht und uns einen Fahrer organisiert. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und wurde täglich nach Nachfrage aufgeräumt und mit frischen Handtüchern und Hygiene Artikeln ausgestattet. Das Bett war groß und mückengeschützt. Auch das Frühstück hat uns gefallen, es gab sehr viel zur Auswahl- darunter frisches Obst; Saft; Kaffee; westliches und sri-lankisches Frühstück. Wir hatten etwas Pech, und der Strand war wegen eines großen Festivals überfüllt. Dafür hatten wir eine tolle Zeit am Jungle Beach, der ca. 10 Minuten mit dem TukTuk entfernt ist.

Das Zimmer war sehr dunkel- da es kein Fenster gab.

Room & pool were nice & clean. Room smelled nice, towels for pool are provider. Bed was a bit wobbly & shower gave hardly any water. The view in room was nice but maybe not in balance with the 140 steps stairs we had to take to get to our room. I would ask for a room around pool next time ;-) Staff was really great and food was fine.

Compared to other hotels, resorts & guest houses; the price was rather high.

A true gem of a hotel. The staff were amazing, the rooms were spotless, the kids loved the pool and the food was delightful. Centrally located for the shops, beaches and bars.

Hemos pasado unos días maravillosos con nuestra familia. Las habitaciones muy limpias y el jardín e instalaciones realmente bonitas. La playa muy cerca y también mucha oferta de restaurantes y tiendas para poder comprar souvenirs. A destacar, la amabilidad de todo el personal, especialmente de la zona del comedor. El cocinero nos explicaba cada mañana las diferentes opciones de comida tradicional para que la pudieramos probar, tenemos un bonito recuerdo de el. La comida era absolutamente deliciosa, variada y abundante..Los camareros que nos atendieron también eran muy amables. El encargado del mantenimiento del jardín era absolutamente encantador. Muchas gracias!!!

The eoom was very nice, with big balcony, the staff was extremely friendly and helpfull, the pool was clean and perfect for our child. But especiqlly I liked yoga lessons every mornig with great teacher with lots of knowledge.I highly recomend and I have been practicing yoga for some time now. Reiki therapy was also great experience.
