Comfy room and clean, pleasant staff recommended
Could do with opening up the bar more
Good location, sea view, staff were polite

Great Pier side location Friendly and helpfull staff Good size rooms
Parking can be difficult
The bed was abit uncomfortable
Booking in okay and room good.
Only one towel each for my wife and I no hand towels, no shower mat, and one of the side lights was not working. And this morning my wife went to take her towel off the towel rail in the bathroom and the whole came away from the wall bring down and smashing about a dozen tiles, luckily she was not hurt as splinters went everywhere.
The receptionist who checked us in was very friendly.
BED BUGS on my bed Room 103. My partner and I were both bitten on our legs, and we had to leave the room and move to another room at approximately 3 a.m. Unfortunately, no manager was available to address the situation, as we were told that management was not working on Sunday. We were told that the matter would be followed up, but so far I have received only a promise of follow-up and no confirmation that a refund will be provided.
The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. The hotel was excellent value.
The hotel was a bit dated but no different to the other local hotels. For the price point, it's a winner
Amazing location and very friendly staff. Clean, safe and comfortable place.
All good
nothing - only the location
didn't like everything, it was old, dirty, tired, poor condition, didn't work, uncomfortable, smelly,
Very close to the beach and it was a clean comfortable room
Could have a paint touch up in places
Location
We’ve stayed here before and would recommend it, as a good hotel in the area.
Location
Shower was very weak in room 312
Room was so so dirty the locker had spilled tea coffee all over it the shower was manky with half bottle of someone else’s shampoo bottles Overall not clean at all very very dusty knowing I had a lung condition coming and still had to breathe that dust in. 😭😭
Cleanliness courtesy of staff
Nothing
There are bedbugs in the hotel
Location was excellent
Starting to look a bit dated.
Location
Both my son and grandson were very badly bitten by bugs in the 2nights , I couldn't send my grandson back for the 2nd night. We also took a 2nd room on the 1st night and the shower was blocked , I was standing in a pool of used water which had residual hairs from previous clients./residents! No hand towels or floor bath mat available !
Great location. Great price
The location
I encountered suspected bed bugs in two different rooms and had to be moved twice, late at night. This caused considerable stress and anxiety and seriously disrupted my stay. I was also worried about potentially bringing bed bugs home with me. This was a very upsetting experience and fell far below what I expected from the property.
Location is the only redeeming feature!!
Dirty, bar might as well close! No draught beer, no J2O, no apple juice etc!! Needs an intensive clean, carpet is filthy in corridors. It is like a third rate boarding hotel. £140 for one night I feel completely scammed!! Depressing place, with the right investment this could be a beautiful hotel but it is currently shabby, un loved, decrepit and sad!
Absolutely horrendous, what you see in the photos is certainly not what you get, the place is filthy, stayed one night because we arrived late but moved the morning after, avoid at all costs.
Clean,friendly, especially Joe from reception
Nothing to say
The view
Curtains hanging off track carpet filthy sink cracked window wouldnt stay open bed uncomfortable old matress
La ubicación, está en frente del Pier
Las instalaciones están muy viejas. La cama es muy incómoda
Brilliant location, right onthesea frontbythepier andtown centre just 5 mi ute walk away. Lovely and friendly staff. Plenty of tea, coffee and milk in the room.
Would have liked anetcurtaininthemiddlewindow as well as the side widows.
Location
Run down,
Lovely and friendly staff and great location.
The double bunk bed was very shaky.
Location mostly and the receptionists the were extremely kind and helpful
As it is an old property the rooms do not have air-con so they get extremely hot and impossible to sleep and we did not have a fan so it would be good if at least they were equipped with fans.
The location and view. Staff were friendly and helpfull.
The rooms are very outdated. Needs some tlc and updating. Very worn looking The rooms are uncomfortably warm There is no water pressure in the shower so takes forever to wash
Brilliant location.. very polite staff.. housekeeping every day..
nothing to dislike about the hotel but the seagulls are very noisy in the mornings..
Well placed in town. That's literally it.
Hotel was untidy, the pumps in bar obviously needed a pull through as beer tasted funny. Mattress stained beyond belief, was joined by some bed bugs and the whole place was down at heel. Left early as second room I was offered was strewn with rubbish and hadn't been made up so wasn't going to take a chance on third one. Staff were neither helpful or unhelpful. Nice enough lads but clueless and the manager, who I'd been told would be in at 10am, was unavailable. Area less than salubrious as well , that's not the hotels fault though, that's a council issue. Parking was awful, more down to airshow though. Was just basically a pretty rubbish hotel in a pretty rubbish bit of Eastbourne. One star, would not recommend.
Great location, near to the pier, town, shops, Staff are great, friendly and helpfull.
Bed was clean, room was clean, But the netcurtains were filthy, could do with a wash, along with the curtains. And the latch on my bedroom window was broken, so it was either wide open or closed, i did report it to staff. But they did supply me with a fan in this hot heat.
Excellent location and lovely sized clean family room
Bunk beds were really creaky but didn’t spoil our stay as we were only there one night
Room was near the lift plenty of room to move about there was no breakfast clean
Everything was ok
Excellent ground floor double room as I am partly disabled. Bar that served ice cold drinks on very hot days. Easy access to pier for annual photos hoot of planes....airbourne!
Only one towell! Had to ask for a fan..ok.. tv failed as satellite and cable knocked out....big heat? Annoying. But bearable. Kitchen not functioning so breakfast at another hotel. Bearable
Location was brilliant, literally opposite the pier.
Facilities were very basic and dated, but were fine for what we needed.
Nothing
Out dated dirty bedbugs rubbish bags lying around would never stay there again pig sty is cleaner
Just location is good.
No breakfast!!! No room service during staying in the hotel. . Like cleaning.!!!The cleaning stuff hadn't renewed(shower gel, soap) . Thanks God I had my own personal care stuff. The bin hadn't taken for 3 days. The room hadn't been cleaned for 3 days. I had done all this things so I didn't feel myself like I am on holiday. The plastic chair in balcony was broken. Just location was good.
We enjoyed a very good two star establishment and right on the front very good breakfasts and not far from town and buses to Brighton and Bexhill and weatherspoons right by thd stops.
Location was superb! Best of all worlds, dead near seafront and a short walk into town! First rate bed and staff all helped me through my trip.
Wi-Fi was appalling, and, sorry to say, the place overall was very rundown. IMO, you can get way better accommodation in Eastbourne, for around the same price as I paid. More than plenty of choices to eat!
Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Friendly at all times
No dinning
Friendly staff, comfortable bright room with window and even sea view at cheapest level pricing
But battered round the edges in regard to decor but nothing to drastic considering the cost of the room
Location
The rooms were not clean (found a used tea bag on a radiator in one of them) Bed linen was disgusting
It is very close to the Pier and restaurants.
The Family room is not big enough for family .
Bunkbeds in rooms lose on top bunk bathroom no lock dirty shower tray toilet moved pillow had no pillow proten on pillow was rip and yellow booked for to nights had to leave after one night never again
Knock it down and rebuild it
The location is great - just near the beach and some of the attractions. My twin-bed room was super small, nothing extra. No AC. The price was okey I guess for this room and 1-2 night stay.
Ni Wifi in the room. No AC. The hotel looks old and not in the best shape.
BAH!!!
Clean room with comfortable bed and clean bedding. Perfect for a couple on the weekend. A lot of space to keep your stuff tidy.
I can't complain because I knew it isn't a luxury hotel 5 stars . We got everything what we need 🙂
Really nice big room, comfortable bed, good en suite. Staff were helpful and pleasant.
Staff are so friendly nice bar if you want a drink gr
Just a lovley place directly facing Eastbourne pier, clean ,respectful staff, thank you
Nil
Rien
Very nice
L'emplacement bord de mer
Établissement vieillot. Équipement sanitaire à rénover, chambre 1 personne très petite. Pas de volet, pas de clim. Joints douche pas entretenus. Dépôt calcaire sur bonde évier et douche.
Close to pier
Extremely hot family room. No fan Only one window but in very dangerous place, anyone can go inside at night time, people, pets etc. Price £150 for night.. Ouch.
Beliggenheten og hyggelig personale.
Rommet veldig slitt.
I was disappointed there was no working restaurant . It needs a deep clean The beer ran out , the shower door wouldn’t close, there appeared to be only two men on duty. It was as if they were running the place down for closure The two staff were very nice Even the brass picture lights would look better if polished
Very friendly and helpful staff Beautiful setting Nice and clean Quiet Reasonably priced drinks at bar Very food value for money
We liked everything
Location very easy to get to town and bus, staff very friendly and helpful, a fan on request and windows that open, comfortable bed and view of the pier
Shower door stiff
The staff were great
Basic room, clean but no fridge, shower mat.
Beautiful building
The only positive comment is the location.
the floor and bed was stained. Lights didn't work an the room was a shoe box. The cupboard (Shower room) was so old and broken, I could not even close the shower.
Good location
Parking was a challenge.
Close to the pier and sea front.
This was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. I contacted the hotel after I left and their management team were rude took no accountability, they said this room was up to their cleaning standards! We paid £150 for the night, I wouldnt let me dog stay in this room. I would never come back and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Plenty of other nice spots to go to.
Just had four days there and great little two star hotel with good breakfasts and evening meals and very nice staff and comfortable beds and a 32 inch tv and a small shower but efficient and about eight minutes from town and all the bus stops and we went to Brighton from there.
Wasn’t a very good experience the owner was rude the rooms were very basic dss were enquiring about rooms The rooms were dirty in places the sea view was view of a building site the hotel needs a lot of work doing to it parts of the breakfast were cold and tea and coffee was served from a Flask it was not Very enjoyable a number of beggars close to the hotel as it was in a run down area avoid this hotel this reminds me of faulty towers
Location and staff
Cleanliness could of been better.a bit dated.
Beautiful place to stay lovely people who run the hotel could not do enough for us the only place we will stay when we visit Eastbourne thank ypu d so o much for our lovely stay we will be back soon marie and kath maye
Comfortable friendly hotel in prime location near to Town & to seafront
Nothing to dislike
I recommend the property for anyone interested in value for money accommodation
Nothing
Yes it is dated, not for fussy people but definitely for homely people. Reasonably priced and value for money. Breakfast superb, and served quickly, plenty of everything. I would say it's simple safe and secure
I run a womens hiking group. We were on a weekend Hike finishing at Eastbourne Pier Saturday evening and set off again from the Pier, Sunday morning. Location was very important to us, the Afton's proximity to the pier couldn't be faulted. I like hotels on a sensible budget to make my Hikes as accessible as possible. Being a womens group, I was concerned about my ability to deliver their requirements on my budget. For them an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness was essential. I think we hit the jackpot, Adel was very approachable when booking the group. The guy on reception was friendly and helpful during our stay. We only stayed one night. We'd booked breakfast at the hotel, Adel called me personally to apologise and say that we would be having breakfast 4 mins up the road. I did wonder if it would be half hours walk , but it took us 3 mins to get there. It was a self service buffet breakfast, I had the works, sausage, egg, bacon, beans, mushroom, tomatoes, hash brown, toast, orange juice. Go up as many times as you want. They had cereals, museli and fruit which some of my group had There were rolls hot from the oven, I stuffed them with cheese and salami. Top notch bacon, the largest yolk eggs were delicious. The hotel and the breakfast far exceeded my expectations, and I breathed a sigh of relief as I didn't hear one complaint from my group. I was astounded at the beautiful view from my room 315. A few niggles, the water in my room was a bit low on pressure. The curtains looked dated. It was exceptional value for money, suited my needs perfectly. I would love to stay here again.
Right.by the seafront next to pier, lovely staff
Great location near the pier. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good price.
Joe was very helpful. Rami was good too.
It would be great if there was a ramp for people with walkers.
Nothing
The staff was unhelpful rude and victimised me and said I needed to provide things but other guests didn't have to provide what I did...I cancelled my stay on the spot
Central location just a short walk to the pier. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful.
The decor needs an upgrade/update. Communal areas in particular look a bit shabby. No breakfast.
Nothing weird hotel with weird owners
Anything room dirty and had drugs on the floor and dirty spoons plus was not tidy at all forgot to take pictures
The location, the staff, the tv for the football game
Staff were lovely and welcoming. Location was excellent - right opposite Eastbourne Pier and very close to brilliant local restaurants.
I visited during a heatwave and was very hot, but not a lot you can do about that!
Location Staff Picture on the wall Clean bedding
General Cleanness Broken shower head
I didn't have breakfasts. It was quiet after 11pm.
I think thicker curtains would have kept more heat out and reduce the light pouring into the room at dawn. There was considerable noise from doors swinging shut.
Our room needed decorating
Value for money
Not really sea facing, but there are some post mentioning sea facing rooms are available.
Location was very good, staff was very polite. Access in and out was very smooth. Room was very spacious and clean, with the side view on the pier and sea which is a big plus for me.
My only disslike is no Wi-fi in rooms( restricted to lounge area only). There is also slight problem with ventilation as I had a feeling room was very stuffy.Breakfast was served in cooperating hotel, which I generally didnt mind, but this breakfast was low standard. Becon was soft, eggs fried but not soft, hash browns tasted like undercooked. If you looking for emergency low budget stay Yes,its ok,but if you need a proper meal wirh the taste no. There is space for improvement.
Central location. Staff seemed friendly. The TV worked.
Not a lot of space in the (single) room. I left my towel in the shower as advised to have it replaced - but it was not. There was no shower gel in the dispenser, on my second day they left a little bottle. The room generally was in need of a lick of paint, new doors, tiling, etc.
Friendly, lovely position, very comfortable.

Great location, spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and welcoming 😊
As with a lot of hotels, tired and dated
Great location and very friendly staff
Could be modernised somewhat and no WiFi in bedroom
Great location, friendly staff, clean but dated room. Value good.
Location bed was comfy linen was clean. Tea/coffee facilaties, shower gel and soap, included, staff were excelant friendly helpful. Everthing near by. Sight seeing bus v.good and wee train good.
I was in room 200 my friend 201 the rooms were gruby and dirty except for the bed. Shower was not great bathroom grubby, door to balcony didnt close well. Toilet holder broken. Just manky grubby dirty needs a face lift and it could be 5stars.
Great location, but that's the only good thing
Small, tiny room. It was very dirty, to the level I thought I was risking my health and going to catch a disease by being there. What does it help if you have a sink and a tap if the tap itself is horrendous and filthy? I had the option to go to bed with unbrushed teeth or risk my health by rinsing my mouth with the water from the tap. I didn't take a shower as the floor was green with mould and dirt and I would catch something by stepping in the shower. It was the hottest day of the year so that meant I had to just be stinky, uh. The bed had the thinnest pillow possible, it's literally just like a pillowcase and that's it. The window was super filthy, it was just covered in dirt and grime, you couldn't see through the window. The receptionist is calling you and asking you when you're going to arrive at the hotel and demanding that you arrive right now because he wants to go to bed. Ridiculous. I survived the night there as I arrived late and had to leave super early, and I was tired as well. But please save yourself some pain and book elsewhere.
