A good buffet in the main dining room
The heating and air conditioning control was very complicated and every the efforts of a staff member did not result in any warming of what was a rather cool room. ( number 45)
I love the hotel, really old hotel, but the hotel is lovely inside, very spacious room, always very clean and comfortable, nice bar as well, good parking.
Nice place to stay and I have been there twice now and the breakfast was very nice.
Toilet in my room hadn’t been cleaned with poo stains on the bowl and urine hadn’t been flushed. I complained about this to reception and was told housekeeping staff had gone home, so nothing was done. Toilets not being cleaned after previous visitors is not something that should not happen and was not a pleasant surprise when I went to use the loo.
Good location to stay for distance to Harry Potter studios
In room 23 I did not see a USB port. My only complaint is that any noise at all in the corridor was audible inside. I noticed there was quite a big gap at the bottom of the door. So better sound proofing would be a good thing to do.
Fabulous hotel & wonderful grounds! So peaceful.
Food was lush, rooms were good. Staff on reception very helpful in my small issue.
Tranquility
Déjeuner basique mais complet et de bonne qualité
le confort du lit n'était pas à mon goût mais cela reste personnel d'autres apprécieront
Quiet location. Good breakfast.
friendly staff,food lovely.
Room little dated but clean
A lovely quiet hotel with good facilities and a great shower. Local to lots of amenities, which was convenient. We would definitely consider staying again.
Lovely Manor House that smelt nice throughout and seemed very clean!
Nothing
Breakfast was great. Staff were polite & helpful. Had to wait 25 minutes as the room wasn't ready. The rooms were quite dated with scuffed & damages on the furniture, it all looked worn.
The rooms need updating & the furniture needs sorting.
It’s a lovely old type mansion house with newly added on facilites in lovely grounds. Very comfortable and relaxed feel
The property is great
Das Gebäude und der Garten
Der grosse Trudel um die Veranstaltungen
Large room , very quiet ,grounds beautiful
Very tired needs to be renovated inside .
Dirty smelly rooms,
location is good
room needed redecoration, very dated furnishings,
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We’ve just had the most wonderful stay and honestly couldn’t fault a thing! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The hotel is beautiful, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was gorgeous, spotlessly clean and so comfortable, and we had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The food was delicious, and the whole experience felt really special. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care goes into making guests feel welcome, and it certainly didn’t go unnoticed. We’ve had a fantastic time and are already looking forward to coming back! Thank you to the whole team for making our stay so enjoyable. ❤️
The location, perhaps, makes this place raised - a period building at the heart of a golf course means a long driveway from the everyday of nearby Hemel Hempstead enhancing expectation - the welcome too was great - polite, immediate and easy; my room ( chosen to be in the older part of the manor ) was all one would expect; parking was, naturally, simple and the grounds pleasant to stroll around, albeit, limited; the most amazing part was the value - a historic hotel, well run, friendly warm welcome and far less than ( say) a Travelodge; happily, happily I’d stay again
Very little
Beautiful building and grounds
Rooms could do with bit of an update
Nice location
Nice location and very friendly and helpful staff
It was an extremely large room with a very large comfortable bed. Everything was clean and the room was silent and cool. There were coffee and tea making facilities with products replenished daily. Staff were professional and friendly. Building and grounds were fantastic. The onsite parking was perfect and we never had trouble finding a space. I hope to be able to stay here again.
The carpets were a little bit old and the bath was extremely slippery!
The location, the room, the hotel staff - all of this was excellent. The cooking of food at dinner was fantastic.
Free bottles of water could have been put in the room on our arrival. An early check-in fee of £20 is also not good and should be reviewed if the room is already ready.
Really enjoyed our stay, the staff were particularly welcoming and helpful at Reception in the bar and in the Restaurant. We had a nice drink outside watching the deer and a lovely meal at night. The room was spacious with a big bathroom. A grand hotel with lots of character and a large car park.
The lift was out of order. But luckily we only had an overnight bag.
The location was
The staff were not friendly
Nice staff, the surroundings were beautiful and nice for an evening stroll
The TV reception wasn't the best. But apart from that no complaints. It is an old building and difficult to maintain so some of the outer areas need a bit of tlc.
Very good breakfast. Fried and scrambled eggs were hard and dry. Staff very attentive and pleasant
Overall I think it was a very good deal. The location was excellent
The room was Beautiful, very spacious. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great parking, Overall I was very pleased.

The building and area just stunning.
The breakfast options definitely need to be updated. The breakfast finishes very early as well.
The beautiful ground, staff and we always feel at home when we return to the shendish
The bathrooms and rooms maybe need a little updating, and the breakfast needs more variety and healthier options.
Nice scenery and friendly staff, was clean and tidy. The breakfast was decent and the view was nice.
Mattress was lumpy and hard, the room was really hot and the air con did very little. There was a fan that helped a bit otherwise it was not a comfortable stay. Quite dated and possibly needs some tlc.
It's a lovely place to stay
WiFi was very poor and we had no 4G so was difficult to get signal
Large clean comfy rooms , restaurant and food was excellent . Staff polite , was a great surprise considering the cost
Nothing
Good location. Comfortable bed. Clean. Pleasant staff.
Room was very hot.
Beautiful setting, lovely staff, good restaurant, beautiful grounds
Nothing to dislike
The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean
The toilet was too close to a parallel wall (entrance wall)
Beautiful setting. Lovely staff. Room was nice, really appreciated 2 fans in room. View was very limited but as it was for 1 night, couldn't complain!
A little dated, not many plug points! But nothing to really complain about!
Every thing was super
Great location and friendly staff.
Questionable cleanliness of the room when a sock was found covering the smoke detector after check in as it went unnoticed by housekeeping.
Lovely size room, clean and comfortable. Location is great! Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I’ve had.
Location
Nothing much, was all ok.
Large rooms. Beautiful manor.
A bit worn and no airconditioning in manor rooms. Hot.
Beautiful old property
Very dated and in need of refurb
It’s green environment
There was a wedding reception so the music was loud and it went on until very late at night
It’s a lovely building and grounds
There’s no fridge in the room. It was difficult to get service at the bar when attending a wedding during the day
Wonderful Manor House converted into a hotel. Lovely rooms and grounds. Very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Rooms have air conditioning. The room rate was really low for the Sunday night I stayed compared to other nights of the week.
Lovely Gardens, nice bathroom
No Aircon in older section and noisy fan outside bedroom window
Amazing location. Really close to motorway and Hemel Hempstead. But wouldn't have known it being sat in your room so quiet and peaceful.
Wish I was staying longer.
Location, room was lovely, breakfast was great
We loved the property, only issue we had was our room wasn't cleaned during our 2 night stay, had to go to reception at 11:30pm for towels and tea and coffee and after a long long day it wasn't ideal.
Friendly staff, excellent parking in private location and excellent breakfast. Very good value for money.
The decor is somewhat tired and in need of some refurbishment.
Bedroom was huge, very appropriate, with blackout curtains and 2 fans provided for the heat. The surrounding view was amazing, with a nice garden space to go for a stroll The bath tub was very big and comfortable
The breakfast could have done with a few more options than provided Better Wifi. The wifi was good in most parts of the residence but was quite weak in the room
It was in beautiful surroundings and the hotel beautifully refurbished to what I can recall. The staff were really friendly and helpful and I was extremely happy with my air con room. The restaurant evening meal was great also and breakfast good too.
There was nothing that I didn’t like. I would gladly have stayed longer.
Loved the Hotel, lovely and comfortable. The drive up was stunning. Nice grounds to walk around. Food good.
Nothing that I can think of!
Beautiful. Everything i needed. Good breakfast
The property was in an ideal location, close to the train station and beautiful grounds.
Absolutely Stunning Views & Gorgeous Property.
The Toilet Wasn't Flusing Correctly. Shower Wasn't Powerful.
The location was great, and the staff were friendly
I was placed in room 61, where the air conditioning wasn’t working during a hot spell — the fact that a standing fan had already been left in the room suggests staff were aware of the issue. There were also several large spiders on the ceiling, which was unpleasant given my fear of them. Between the heat, the fan noise, and the spiders, I struggled to sleep. Breakfast was also quite basic.
Great location for work in Hemel Hempstead, good sized comfortable room, very quiet. And located on a golf course but unfortunately it was too hot for a round at the end of the day, maybe next time.
The Air conditioning wasn't working in my room or the part of the building I was in, but fans were provided so it wasn't unbearable. I ate in the restaurant on the first night, but not a second time.
Very friendly staff. Nice dinner.
Breakfast Ive paid for very poor- one apple, orange youghurt without spoon, 3 small pastries take away. Disappointed in this. Requested in advance, paid for it but got very little.
Staff, location and food all excellent.
The service in the Orangery was stilted and weirdly on the hottest day of the year the aircon was overwhelming our dinners cooled down too quickly☹️
Size, comfort, romantic vibes, bath, shower and bed were absolutely amazing! It's a really nice hotel for a couple indeed. Also, the restaurant breakfast was incredible. It was really good.
The only problem we experienced in the hotel was that it was very warm in the room and apart from and old fashioned fan, there is nothing to cool it down (we had all possible windows opened), and it took a little while until luckily it got cooler by itself (around 2-3am)
Beautiful, cared for building and gardens. Air con in the dining area, fantastic evening meal ( reasonably priced too, not sure what the other reviews mean by expensive food) Comfy bed.... Ok I stayed on the hottest day in June on record and the manor house is centuries old - pee dates air con I reckon. So it's uncomfortably hot. But not the hotel's fault
Nothing
Excellent breakfast: good choice. Lovely location jn parkland
The fried eggs were rubbery
Lovely surroundings, clean and great value for money x
Too warm in the rooms as air con didn’t work.
Staff were polite and professional. A beautiful and well maintained historic building and grounds. Everything was spotless.
There should have been bottled water in the bedrooms. Additionally the double bed was very small for a double. It made a warm night rather uncomfortable for two fully-grown adults of normal size.
Lovely staff, extremely welcoming & helpful! Beautiful grounds and hidden little water fountain behind orangey was so peaceful to sit and unwind with a nice glass of wine :)
Everything
We stayed at this hotel primarily because of its proximity to the Harry Potter Studio Tour, which was only around a 14-minute drive away. For that purpose, the location worked well. However, aside from that attraction, there was very little nearby within easy reach, so don’t expect many local shops, restaurants, or things to do around the hotel itself. The hotel and its on-site food were both quite expensive, which is something to be aware of when booking. That said, the service from the staff was exceptional. Prior to our arrival, they went above and beyond to help organise and set up a surprise in our room, which made our stay feel very special and was greatly appreciated. Overall, while the location and pricing may not suit everyone, the outstanding customer service was a real highlight and helped make our stay a memorable one.
Very old school and out of date the A/C did not work at all and had just basic fan’s in the room and the towels don’t know why but where dropping white stuff of them like a cheap quality or end of life for the towels, the bed had springs Comming out of them and could feel it like you while you sleep or turn over.
Beautiful old property, though never got to see this as the accommodation is in an annexe. Good breakfast
Aircon not working in my room, or my employees, lovely bathtub... But no plug🤬, both rooms and in fact corridor smell musty
The restaurant and standard of food served at breakfast and dinner was good. The location was good for it's proximity to Warner Bros studios. In addition, nice grounds and garden.
The bathroom was very dated and tired looking. Shower was very poor and water not very hot. Toilet flush wasn't the best either. The bathroom rail to hold onto was loose and we found a raw plug on the side. The taps and shower fitting are badly in need of updating. Also the bed in the double room was 2 singles pushed together with a big gap between the two.
Bed was comfortable.
Carpets were not as clean as I expected
Staff
Bed Broke my back.
Loverly venue in its own landscape grounds.
We did find anything that we disliked about the property. Unfortunately, not the best day to be there with the weather..
Came across this place when I was looking for somewhere close to berko all I can say its I will definitely stay again fantastic location the right price for my budget great restaurant and breakfast was exceptionally good
There was nothing i disliked about my stay
Nice golf course and helpful staff.
Excellent it was lovely
Nothing
Staff cleanliness and price
The rooms where very clean
The showers over the baths on the standard rooms
I like everything clean room. Good breakfast and dinner. Also the stuff was friendly.
Nothing
The location
The water was very hot and no air-conditioning on a very hot dah
Location good Grounds lovely Room comfortable (bit tired looking in places but clean) Staff friendly Breakfast limited but decent enough
Main courses at summer (steak and fish poor)
Great spacious rooms
Television reception was a mess Would have liked a shower not a bath no fridge in30 degrees was not pleasant
Front of house staff helpful, welcoming and lovely! Beautiful grounds and location. Staff friendly. Room very clean and quiet.
Continental breakfast poor. Not good value for money and lacking in any options for special diets like gluten free. Beds could do with mattress toppers. Felt the springs! No fridge in the rooms. Air con not working- fan supplied. No drinking water in the bedroom- had to go to the bar for a water jug.
Very pleasant stay. Restaurant value for money with quick service and friendly staff.
Nothing.
Breakfast was nice, well made, the whole place frankly is nice
USB sockets in the rooms - all hotels have USB sockets now.
fantestic

The old buildings d gardens were well kept.
A very uncomfortable bed which was also stained and torn. Dirty carpet
The location for me was perfect with ease of reaching motorways Young staff were friendly and attentive.
Curtains were hanging by half the amount of hooks, so didn't close well. AC didn't work! Found fan in wardrobe but too late. Why put fan in the room when you can fix the AC? Breakfast buffet was naff by 8 45am afyer being kept kept warm. Orange juice from machine was orange, but that's it. Coffee the same. Ground works noise started at 8am outside windows which only opened some 5 cms only whilst 30 degrees plus!
Shendish manor building and surrounding were beautiful.
Where do i start. Double was 2 single beds pushed together not even the same height. 1 side all I could feel was springs. Window didn't lock and we were on ground floor. Water in bathroom turned on tap and it soaked the whole bathroom including toilet and floor. Would not recommend at all. Ive sent an email to them.
The surroundings were wonderful! If you love nature, then this is an excellent location. Most staff were nice and some were really nice and friendly.
The room wasn't as clean dust on the table. Air conditioning wasn't working. Restaurant evening staff were not friendly. (But breakfast staff were polite and friendly)
James on reception was top notch
Room wasn't the cleanest
Location
Someone had clearly smoked in our room, shower screen sealant had come off, we had two rooms (one had air con and other didn’t), bar served warm Prosecco, we had booked two rooms and they were miles apart from each other
It was nice
Nothing
The convenience of the location. The room size and ease of check in.
The room was very tired with a broken sofa, curtains and multiple bathroom items. The hallways and lift smelt unpleasant, as did the bathroom. Breakfast was disappointing for the price.
Schönes Anwesen. Ausreichend Parkplatz.
Unfreundlichen Personal bei Ankunft (Check-In). Golfer... muss man gewohnt sein. Garten nicht sehr gepflegt.
Nice looking building and lovely gardens. Breakfast is excellent although one morning the coffee machine was broken and it took some time to get some.
Room was a good 3 wood away from reception when you added up the yardage so it was quite a long walk if you fancied going outside in the evenings Heating system seemed to be broken and no one had switched on the portable electric heater before my arrival so the room was cold and damp, which included the bedding. Wi-Fi was also quite slow so had difficulty with communications in the evening.
.
Toilet seat broken in room one - Room two soiled on carpet looked like shit. Window vent missing - smelt fawsty -
