The check in was quick and easy. Bar food and Drinks were good. Staff friendly.
Squeaky floor in the room
No water pressure on the bathroom so no water pressure on the hand held shower on the bath
Better water pressure
Never had breakfast. Ok
Parking could have been better
Excellent location, lovely staff, great price.
Bed was only OK comfort wise, bathroom fan was on all the time and quite noisy - I had to turn the the isolation switch on the ceiling every time I’d finished using the loo.
Good location very helpful staff
Bed could be more comfortable, internet not good. Door locks difficult.
It was near to Shrewsbury town centre, staff were lovely
Our room strongly smelled of dog and the level of cleanliness in the bathroom wasn’t the best. The toilet, sink and shower hadn’t been properly cleaned. The towels provided had things stuck in them like glue or something. Not the best
It was clean, bed comfortable, compact for one person. Water was nice and hot. Generous tea, coffee and milk. TV worked. Good simple checking out system
Further from the train station than I thought but my fault for not checking before booking. Bit disappointed first night that the pub wasn't doing food, however was directed to a good, local pub. No-one really bothered to check when I got back whether I had found the recommended pub and that my meal was good.
The bar
The room
The room, the facilities, the location, and the staff were all excellent. I shall book them again the next time I visit Shrewsbury.
There was nothing to dislike
The room was clean and comfortable. Just the job. Real ale in the bar. Who could ask for anything more?
Completely satisfied. We've used it before - no problems.
Didnt have breakfast location is lovely
Every thing was great
The room was clean and there was plenty of tea and coffee making facilities. It was quiet and the staff were friendly.
The decor looked tired and it looked like someone had done very poor job painting the room and bathroom.
This was a budget option for me and I'll start by saying my single room was brilliant value for money and I was happy with it. I was a woman travelling alone, so safety was important: the area is fine and very convenient for walking or getting a bus into the centre of Shrewsbury, I didn't go into the pub because there was a separate entrance to the apartments, which are in a modern extension set back from the main road.. The pub was was busy at times but there was no noise where I was and I felt pretty safe. I agree with other reviewers: the room was small but I wasn't bothered and yes, the bathroom fan was noisy but that wasn't a problem. A freestanding fan had very thoughtfully been provided -the weather was hot-and I used the kettle and tea provided. I didn't spend a huge amount of time there and it suited my purposes very well. Lots of hot water in the bathroom. Oh, and a small Sainsbury's just up the road.
Although the important things-sink,bath, loo, sheets- were clean, the walls were streaky with condensation or something and could have done with a wipe down. Not hard, since the ceiling is low. The bed, as others mention, was awful, with a lumpy bit just where anyone would sit when getting into bed. I swivelled the mattress and it was a lot better, but the mattress was very soft and made my back ache a bit. The sheets seemed a bit synthetic, which was not great in the hot weather.
Nothing. It was far from the photos on booking.com
Dirty towel that looked years old ( all frayed ) No proper shower just a hand held one Television did not work Very cramped bed space with old linen, unmatched pillow cases ( I slept on top of the bed. No car park as stated on Boomkng.com
The location was great and the girl behind the bar was lovely
Our room was dirty, when we went in the bins hadn’t been emptied there was a nappy bag in one of them.the mirror hadn’t been hung on the wall, cups and extractor fan in the bathroom was dirty. The back to the remote was missing. Carpet was dirty.
A comfortable room with everything I needed for a short trip. It was clean where it mattered, though could have done with a deeper clean in places (cobwebs in corners and dust). While it was quite warm, the fan helped keep the room comfortable enough to sleep. There was an iron and ironing board, which was helpful (though the iron took a little searching for...). Was convenient for Shrewsbury (10-15min walk from centre) and worked well for me as all the things I needed to do were to the east of the city.
Noting major, just several smaller things: - Lighting was poor and the blind on the skylight was quite temperamental which didn't help. - The floor creaked a lot, and I was very conscious that anyone below me was likely to hear me walking through the room - The bathroom fan was quite loud, but was only on while the light was on, so not too disruptive. - The room lock seemed fine, but it was very easy to just walk into the accommodation area. I never felt unsafe, and the area around the pub seemed fine. Not for me, as I'm quite short, but the room I was in had very low ceilings in places - so maybe don't pick the loft rooms if your taller
Excellent

It was nearby
Not very clean in certain parts but we cleaned ourselves, think it was overpriced abit
It’s convenient for us.
The noise from the back yard when in a downstairs room
Good value for a single room with bathroom close to Shrewsbury centre.
A bit rough around the edges, but clean, tidy and all facilities as described.
Easy to find , friendly staff , clean premises. Pub grub = all the usual suspects!
Perfect for our short stay needs .
Staff were exceptional bar staff and cooking staff were amazing highly recommended
Nothing I disliked

Nothing
The room was small but super comfortable and nicely decorated and had everything I needed, especially very generous tea and coffee and a big fan (it was a hot day). The staff were friendly.
The only minor drawback was that because the room was upstairs under the roof there was no walk in shower, but a shower in the bath instead. But apart from that everything was lovely and exceptional value for money. I would definitely have this as my top pick if I was coming to Shrewsbury again.
Nice pub
No on site Parking, room was incredibly small and hot in poor condition, shower was completely unusable. Advertised as breakfast included but no breakfast available at all and apparently haven't done so in years. Evening meal bookings finished early. Very poor quality indeed.
This is a beautiful pub, in an excellent location. I was made to feel very welcome by staff and locals. Very comfortable accommodation at a very good price, for a room with an ensuite. They do good pub grub too so I didn't have to venture out looking for food. It was clean enough for a good stay, some small issues not worth noting. It's a no frills budget friendly stay in an excellent location. I had no issues with noise and got a good night's sleep on every night that I was there
The wasps 🤣 seriously though I can't think of anything. It was just what I needed and expected.
The staff Brioney and Thea just lovely and welcoming thankyou. Holly and Chris amazing see you soon xx
Nothing
Price and late booking.
The threat of having to pay £15 cash if I turned up after 22.00, even though there was the option of turning up between 22.00 and 23.00 on the booking, and the bar was open until 23.00.
The room was clean private and overall a really good experience. It was located in a really lovely pub with a seperate door for after hours use. The bathroom was very clean and the coffee wax well stocked!
I have nothing negative to say except that we didn't get a chance to go the the pub - it looked like so much fun!
Location
Noise from kitchen by my room
The location was great. It was quiet and a good place to sleep for a night
The weather made it too hot to sleep comfortably
The girls behind the bar were lovely and very helpful. The room was a nice size and comfortable bed.
There were no tea bags for a morning cupa ( we didn’t notice there weren’t any until morning and there was no one around to ask. The hairdryer had bare wires and dangerous. Thin pillows. No shelf in shower to put sponge, shampoo, shower gel.
Location. Staff friendliness.
Friendly welcome from staff; late night shop nearby
No food available in the evening; room only; no breakfast available
too far out of town if no car
I've been staying at The Old 🔔 for years now. I love the location just out of town. The rooms are so peaceful and well equipped. The single room with the bath and skylight above my head is my favourite however I was upgraded to a triple room this time no extra charge as they thought it was too hot to sleep in there. How considerate is that 😊
Having to leave as I could have easily stayed another night 🤩
Not that much to like to be honest as far as the room is concerned. Having a fan in the room was a god send, because it was very, very hot. Friendly bar staff though.
It is a small room ,expected that. but wouldnt stop in it again. There was no food available when i went down just after six which i didnt know about.
very helpful and friendly staff, couldn't have been better
the food could have been better
A reasonable place to spend the night on the way elsewhere. Comfortable bed in a reasonable room. Friday night's steak dinner was good.
WiFi was very temperamental. Selection of beers could have been better with fewer continental brews.
It was a nice, clean, room.
The Sunday lunch wasn't as nice as my sister and I thought it might be. There was a lot of fat instead of pork, and it was very expensive at nearly £25 each for a small meal.
The proximity to both the town and the river and the fact that there was a Sainsbury’s local nearby
The option to have breakfast without having to go out would have been nice
Good location and parking available
Facilities a little tired and breakfast unavailable
didn't provide breakfast
No breakfast offered main issue is cleanliness of room which needed dusting especially window blinds and bathroom floor and pipes skirting board
As above
Very accommodating, lovely food from bar
Didn't have breakfast , but pub was great , brilliant friendly bar staff and friendly locals thoroughly made to feel welcome and fitted right in .will be going back regularly when visiting my son in Shrewsbury. Excellent value for money .
Location parking helpful staff, being a pub and serving good basic pub food and good selection of drinks
We stayed in Room 2. no black out curtains and no hangers, The layout of the room needs a little thought corner shelf instead of a flimsy table for a tea tray mirror that needs fixing to the wall then two small chairs instead of one. Didn't stop us from enjoying our stay but needs addressing.
Easy to check in. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff
teakettle+tea in room, great bathroom, good bed, good airflow/light from windows
broken luggage rack, only 1 clotheshanger, only 1 chair; really noisy neighbors next door late into Friday night
Always a very warm welcome and also I was upgraded to a double bedroom because the fire alarm went off and they feared for my security in the hot single bedroom. So I was very happy 😊
Leaving 🫤
Very comfortable and very welcoming
Nothing
The room was fairly basic. But for a one night stay, it's all that was needed. It was nice & quiet at night.
Never liked - bath- no shower curtain- Room was more like box room
Wasn't any
Bigger room, better mattress, no evening menu.
Really friendly staff
Good value , very clear & comfort bed. Thank you
Nothing
Good, basic pub accommodation convenient to center of town. Everything worked; friendly staff; basically self-service after check-in.
Street parking, but I knew that in advance. No shower in my room--just a bath.
Everything good
Excellent location located inside a lovely pub. Super friendly service upon arrival that I couldn’t fault. Room was super clean tidy and safe. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. Lovely skylight for fresh air. Tv in room was great. Couldn’t fault it. About five or ten mins on the bus into the town centre or twenty mins walking. There was a great supermarket located close by.
Nothing I had a great stay
No parking
Friendly staff, good food, quiet room
Lovely staff, liked the location, sweet, quiet room with a bath.
Internet, alas, so slow as to be almost unusable - a problem as I needed to work online.
Clean and tidy room at an affordable rate.
Everything was spot on very clean and very comfortable bed very good shower and plenty of hot water.
There wasn't anything I didn't like.
