The Country House Chalets

Very green property with lots of trees around. The accomodation (chalet) was spacious, stylish and with all amenities. The staff (Ms. Gayatri, Ms. Pabasara and other members) were very friendly and accomodative to all requests. Breakfast was really good (both quality and quantity) with 2 options (both English as well as Sri Lankan). Property is just 5 km from the Galle Fort and Cricket stadium area. Easy to get there via tuk tuk or cabs (we availed the Pickme app). Overall a very enjoyable stay

It’s an amazing location, you feel like your in the middle of the jungle, there’s something special about waking up in the morning and seeing monkeys playing in the trees from your window while you lie in bed

Facilities are quite basic but there is everything you need and good value for money

I was staying for 2 nights .so no one show up for room cleaning and all , so if I ask something then they will provide the stuffs . Need to improve the service for room cleaning.

Dining was a definite highlight. Breakfast comes with two choices—English breakfast or Sri Lankan breakfast, with the local option allowing you to choose between string hoppers or milk rice. We tried both styles, and they were equally enjoyable. For lunch and dinner, meals can be ordered from their on-site restaurant, The Local, where we sampled the chicken kottu, creamy chicken pasta, vegetable noodles, and pumpkin soup—all of which were excellent and freshly prepared.

Location was too far off. There were spider webs in the room. Not clean. I had to ask for towels.

It wasn’t maintained properly. Bed linen and towels looked dirty. Full of ants. Water bottles were not provided. Had one refill bottle for the two nights we stayed. Bathroom looked disgusting.

Die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig, das Personal sehr nett und wir haben drei verschiedene Frühstücksgerichte zur Auswahl angeboten bekommen.

Man merkt gerade im Bad, dass die Unterkunft schon ein bisschen älter ist.

The Host - the girl managing the reception was really helpful for all my queries. The food - with whatever limited option they have - was very delicious

This property needs a major upgrade ! starting from the Furniture / towels/ Bed , to say that they did not provide any basic requirements that is required for a hotel. Looks like nothing was changed for years !! Wifi / TV - did not work all night. There are regular house with people staying around this property is a major let off !!! The guest staying at the other villa were playing loud music till 03 in the night and no one from the property stopped them! if you can avoid all of these - then its value for money !

We stayed at The Country House Galle on our trip on the 18th, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish! We stayed in the Cinnamon chalet, which is located right in front of the swimming pool—and wow, what a view! The chalet was beautifully designed, combining rustic charm with modern comfort. The atmosphere throughout the property was serene and relaxing, ideal for anyone looking to unwind and recharge.The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. They made us feel so special with their warm hospitality and were always happy to help with anything we needed. Breakfast was fresh, flavorful, and made with love. Everything was presented beautifully, and it felt like a home-cooked meal with a touch of elegance. We truly fell in love with the calm vibe of the place and can’t wait to return for another peaceful getaway. Location is nice. A bit out of Galle - 15min Drive to Galle Fort. Beds were comfortable and Breakfast was tasty.

the Chalet had a few issues including an aircon that didn't work well and there were ants over our bedding when we arrived. additionally there wasn't any water, coffee or milk provided.

Property need some maintenance.

Very nice property with a swimming pool. A bit outsite the city (5 km) it has serene surroundings as it is a part of a tea estate. The chalet was nice, spacious and the beds were comfortable. The included breakfast was awesome. And the caretakers took care of our requests. Highly recommended if you have are traveling with a car/rental.

Nothing in particular. Some minor issues in the bathroom like a leaking shower hose and the shower cubicle sliding door bearings which can be easily fixed.

I believe a renovation needs to be carried out and bring back the 100% of potential this place has! This is a place i would gladly recommend to anyone I know but after a renovation is done!

Overall, our stay was pleasant, but the bathroom maintenance could use some attention.

The breakfast was a well-balanced combination of food items, and the presentation was visually appealing and tasty. Adding a dash of tomato would have enhanced the flavours and complemented the continental style even further.

leaving an umbrella in the room and having a mode of communicating with the reception are improvements that might add to the stay.

The hosts were incredibly kind, helpful and attentive. The breakfast was lovely. The chalets are clean and kept cool with great aircon. The WiFi was also great. It was an ideal place to stay and brilliant value for money.

It’s a little bit further out from Galle Fort town but there are lots of cheap tuktuk’s around to get you to and from the property no problem.

Great concept, big room sizes, lot of greenery around.

Poor room cleanliness, poor property maintenance/cleanliness, no amenities on site (e.g. water!), no staff availability when needed, loud neighbors with music on till late night , not suitable for families at all.

The staff were super friendly and welcoming - very accommodating for my birthday 🎂 went out of their way to decorate the dining area and make breakfast super early for us too!

To be weary of insects and bugs - it’s a very green area so those are likely to be around !

Tasty and reasonably priced meals are available at the location itself. Quiet and peaceful environment.

Away from the beach. Not walking distance from Galle Fort, therefore, a vehicle is required if you need to go sightseeing.

Uniqueness of the place

The chalet is very huge with 2 storey building and the place had only 1 AC machine and where the bed placed it is so hot and the AC is not enough. We had troubles sleeping specially since it is so hot these days in sri lanka. And the pool was not clean enough to swim.

The environment is best

The room was not cleaning well and there was more dust near the windows. Then hot water was not there..

this is the best place that we stayed in Sri Lanka. the staff are incredibly helpful and always willing to help when we arrived. We didn’t have lunch. However they provided a Sri Lankan banquet for us which was amazing. the pool and the views are 2nd to none and we cannot recommend this place enough. We want to thank the staff and the owner for providing us with a fantastic stay. They really are beautiful people.

Nice location Breakfast was tasty and filling. They were kind enough to decorate the bed for our anniversary.

The room lacked basic amenities like a chairs to sit at the table. A/C was not cooling properly. Nothing much to do while your here. The TV did not have any good channels subscribed. The washroom window had a clear glass reducing privacy. Was difficult to find a staff member to request anything. In my opinion it was not value for money.

Breakfast is amazing . Location is great. Good to stay in a pleasent view. If maintain perfectly and offer all facilities it will be a good place to stay and recommend to others.

It was way below our expectation, over priced. And not worth the spent

After booking a hotel months in advance, we were notified 2 days before arriving in Sri Lanka that the hotel was not ready for guests. I immediately searched HomeAway and came across The Country House. The proprietor was very accommodating and helped us sort out arrangements without any stress or worry. Upon arrival, we were greeted with cold drinks and shown around the property. Our stay was comfortable and relaxing. Even after we left, the proprietor helped us over the phone when we were having issues communicating with our driver from Galle to Colombo. Highly recommend and hope to visit another time!

Très bon séjour dans un oasis de verdure avec piscine ! Au milieu d'un champs de the avec des oiseaux et singes !!! Service et accueil au top !!!
