Outdated, rooms bland, ac noisy and it’s vent leaves window pried open air becomes very dry. Carpet dated and needs deep cleaning. Bed springs uneven worn out n uncomfortable, same as beddings and pillows. Only bathroom is updated. No refrigerator in the room. Small rooms.

Location, location, location - possibly best in York, adjacent to the Minster which you can view from the breakfast room. Staff and customer service were excellent during the weekdays, nothing was too much trouble. Room comfortable and clean. The breakfast is good with lots of options

Restaurant food (which was excellent on my first stay a couple of years ago) not great quality - also it’s a menu is from the 1970s (e.g. chicken supreme and prawn cocktail), neither were particularly pleasant. This is possibly what their customers want, but it needs to be of a higher standard. I ordered flatbread and hummus as I have an issue with digesting thick crusty bread - I was served two small (warmed) slices of crusty bread and a bowl of hummus which was still there when I had consumed my bread. York has so many fantastic eating places, so I did eat out on two nights - and would do this again when next visiting. I felt the room and passageways needed a bit of an overhaul: carpets and paint work/decor all looking a bit tired. Also, if you have any mobility issues you need to clearly flag this. There was no lift in the wing/room I was in, so I had to climb three flights of stairs along a narrow corridor. I am a relatively fit 65-year old, so it wasn’t an issue, and I had assistance with my bags on arrival - but if you struggle with stairs the rooms on this wing would not be suitable. Finally, second time I have arrived on a Sunday evening, and there appear to be less staff on, particularly in restaurants, where they all seemed a little hurried and stressed.

Ineffective air conditioning unit was very noisy. Had to open window to cool room and street noise was all night. Bed was extremely uncomfortable.

El personal fue excelente, siempre con buena voluntad y una sonrisa. Explicaron el funcionamiento de todo e incluso intentaron hablar en nuestro idioma; español. Eso se aprecia un montón! La habitación realmente muy amplia y bella, cómoda para tres personas y con todo tipo de accesorios que uno pueda necesitar. La ubicación excelente y la vista desde la calle es mágica (toda la ciudad es mágica).

Very pleasant staff and fantastic location.

Breakfast OK but not exceptional. Evening meals were from a nice varied menu. Location was ideal for what we wanted to see - all within walking distance.

Room was small and tired looking. Bed was small. It was appreciated that we were given a room fairly close to the lift.

Room decor tired and worn. Bannisters on stairway nearest breakfast room badly chipped and in dire need of repainting. Entrance steps both outdoors and indoors and lobby area covered in leaves and debris for duration of my stay. Lift noisy.

Breakfast was excellent. Sausages were delicious.

Evening meal not very substantial considering the price and a wider range of dishes, particularly vegetarian needed. I think the vegetable curry was my only choice and not a lot of it for £18.

Only criticism would be the slightly tired decoration but as a decorator I would say that!

Location of property, views, ease of access. Staff were very accommodating, welcoming and friendly. Valet service, bar staff, restaurant food and reception were excellent. People working at the hotel make it really pleasant to stay.

Schitterende locatie tegenover de hoofdingant van de York Minster, in het oude centrum! Medewerkers allemaal super sympathiek en behulpzaam.

De kamer die wij toegewezen gekregen hebben was er een voor gehandicapten, wat schitterend is voor gehandicapten. De ruime badkamer was van alle hulpmiddelen voorzien. Maar voor gewonen mobiele personen had dit toch het nadeel dat de lavabo en de spiegel zeer laag stonden. Maar wat ik als het grootste nadeel vond is dat de kamer geen vensters had, tenzij enkel een dakvenster.

This Hotel Has The Potential To Be So Much More!!!! Owners Are Missing A Beat Here!!! Needs More Attention to Detail & Beds Need Revamp

The staff were very friendly and the location is superb.

It’s really very tired, needs a complete overhaul really.

Located in a prime location, opposite the Minster and very central. Everywhere accessible and close on foot. Staff went up and beyond with hospitality and providing of information, always friendly and courteous at all hours. Great and very abundant breakfasts, hot and cold choices. The restaurant had a varied choice of great quality food too. Everywhere was exceptionally clean and provided comfort. Sustainability was also evidently at the forefront of their ethos as is supporting charitable causes. We would definitely return or stay in another INN hotel.

A lovely old hotel that has kept its character in an excellent location so you get the full force of the bell ringing at the minster which is a lovely sound but if you don't like the sound book somewhere else, for me one of the highlights of this hotel. The staff are great Beata, Federico, Tina, Gary etc and the room cleaner all so friendly, polite, professional and go out of there way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel lounges are lovely just to sit and relax with daily newspapers to hand and the breakfast and other menus have plenty of choice. Bar and restaurant areas are clean and beautifully thought out and what a view at breakfast! My room was beautiful with a huge shower and has all that you need,I highly recommend this hotel it was exactly what I needed so I go home relaxed ready to commence my duties looking after elderly father, cats, dogs and hedgehogs. Thankyou team Dean Court I shall be back!

Not enough time to enjoy the hotel or york

The location of the hotel is hard to beat: within sight of the minster. Rooms that overlook the front of the property are well appointed, if small.

Rooms that face the back of the property are small and noisy. If you search for reviews you will find many complaints about these rooms. Ensure you have a front facing room when you book.

Would have preferred a view but the size of our room made up for the lack of it. We stayed in an accessible room on the ground floor on this occasion ( not by choice). Stayed at this hotel before and the view was great but the room was much smaller. So not really a negative just an observation.

- Room was very small for a 4 star hotel, and the bed only a standard double - Room was incredibly hot. A portable air con unit was provided but it was far too noisy to run at night and there were poorly insulated hot water pipes just under the floor that made it feel like there was permanent under floor heating on

Excellent location. No need to use the car at all for sight seeing round York. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel provided a portable air conditioner as we were in the hottest weather, The food was very good - breakfast and one dinner that we had.

Inevitably in a city centre hotel, the room was noisy from traffic and tourists outside. Being in the hottest weather we had to keep the windows open.

Close to everthing. I appreciated the ac and fan working in the room

Only issue was that its a tight fit when going into the shower

The hotel is amazing and we always stop here when visiting York. The location is perfect with the Shambles literally 5mins away if that. The hotel staff are friendly and welcoming and can't do enough for guests. The food is delicious. The rooms are clean and well decorated and maintained. The beds are very comfy

We ordered bailey at the end of the night as a night cap but came in little shot glasses , quite expensive but it is hotel prices and the only thing I could find to say that I didn't like .

Our room was pretty small and cramped and it was so hot and humid, despite a mobile aircon unit and a Dyson fan. These were very noisy . Found it hard to sleep. The restaurant closes really early at 9pm and the bar area is quite small.
