Several members of staff were helpful: we arrived earlier than normal check-in and we were given a room. Other members need more training: while trying to resolve a problem, one staff member needed our name; however, the staff member could not remember our name, which is easy, and had to ask me for it 3 times. After struggling for a while, another staff member stepped in and was able to help us and quickly train the staff colleague. The struggling staff member had a good attitude.

Our room was not properly cleaned. We found clothes were not cleaned up and wondered if the room had been cleaned: one needs to look everywhere what needs to be picked up. The bathroom lacked some toiletries which the staff were more than willing to provide when we asked them for it.

EVERYTHING to do with the PARKING situation. From lack of directional signage; the gate/check out procedures were unclear…we had to run back into the hotel to get a validation. AND we were charged $18 for all of this disorganized, illogical, disjointed garbage.

The property is very convenient.

When we were checking in the property tried to charge us over the rate we booked and kept trying to say my rate on the app was wrong. This wasn’t by pennies the hotel was trying to charge us an additional $400 for the 4 night stay. She did eventually give me the correct rate, but I had to search for it and unfortunately I could only get a total from booking.com not a breakdown to prove that my TOTAL was the total including fees. Housekeeping came to our room day 2 at 9am to clean, my husband said we were still getting ready. They said ok. They NEVER came in any day during our 4 day stay. When I called the front desk (we needed wash cloths) to ask when they would be cleaning our room (day 3) they said I declined service. Not true.. whatever… but I never got my washcloths. Breakfast- the food was usual hotel food no good, but not bad. The staff was RUDE!!! At 9:40 I indicated that there was no OJ or milk. No oatmeal. No sausage patties. The staff told me they close at 10 so they are shutting down. I stated, breakfast is served till 10 according to my reservation and that I should be able to still get food until 10. I did not. I had cereal, no milk. Raisins not oatmeal. Potatoes and waffle mix that I couldn’t cook because it was after 10 by the time others finished with the waffle maker. I would not have been so upset if at 10 hotel staff (housekeepers I think) were allowed in and additional food was brought out to them. Please note, I think this is a great perk, but not allowing me to cook my waffle, giving me milk, or oj BUT allowing staff to eat is unacceptable. The only consolation I have is that the hotel manager asked the same staff to help clean up a coffee spill and she complained to the manager for 20 minutes about not having supplies and that’s a housekeeping job, etc. mind you the manager was mopping the floor. They were simply asking for towels to clean the chairs.

No parking . Parking lot should have already been repaired. Handicapped the walk for parking was unacceptable.

It took 20 minutes to check in and get our key cards at 8:30 PM. Also, in the booking information, it said it was going to be $18 to park in the attached structure. We had to pay $68 to leave and were parked there for less than 12 hours over night.

We loved how easy it was to get to from the highway. All staff seemed cheerful and helpful, despite technical difficulties. Breakfast in the morning was fresh and super convenient.

Check in was unnecessarily difficult. The parking garage ticket machine would not give out a paper ticket to trade in for a room key. You had to park on the street, wait for the only elevator to arrive, check in to get room key, wait for elevator to go back down to the garage and then use the room key to park the vehicle. So that made checking in more of a hassle than it needed to be. They mentioned being aware of this as an ongoing problem. The outdoor patio space near the lobby was in disarray with rose petals on the floor and catering platters stacked next to the overflowing garbage. Obviously there was some sort of party there TWO days prior because there was no private event in the time of our stay and we saw the trash still there on the morning we checked out. The elevator situation was abysmal. Especially in the morning, with 10 min wait times for the lift in either direction. When asked a housekeeper said it had been that way for nearly three weeks. Several guests reported room keys being non functional upon arriving to their rooms but we did not have that problem, thankfully. The pool and hot tub were absolutely disgusting. Skin oils and skin cells were built up in a brown and grey film over all of the surrounding edges of the hot tub. We only noticed after Turing on the jets and actually getting all the way in that what appeared to be filth and hair were coating the top of the foam created by the jets. Once we turned the jets off hoping that would be better, there was a brown film on the rest of the popping foam. The chlorine smell was almost suffocating. I am led to believe that the hotels solution to the filth was to add more chemicals to offset the pee left in that water. Thinking the pool would be better, we tried that next. It was not. One could not see their feet in the 4ft of water it was so cloudy. It felt like swimming through Lukewarm chlorinated pee.

Good location. Nice rooms, but breakfast was very poor, even by Hampton Inn standards. Out of hot food at 7:30am. Asked front desk for a partial adjustment to compensate. They mumbled and sent final bill for full room rate. And you get to pay $18 a day to park. There are far better hotel alternatives nearby.

Everything was excellent. The staff was Super friendly and the property was very very clean.

Arrival was a little confusing as there was no main door. You enter up from the parking garage, but that would have been our only complaint.

Clean, room was large and nice, breakfast bar was excellent, desk staff were courteous and gave us an upgrade when our room wasn’t ready. Convenient location to freeway and downtown. Great on site parking.

Too far to walk to downtown venues

The rooms were beautifully set up, very clean and spacious. Made my family excited to walk into. You could see the care and attention that each team member applied to their duties as well. Arayah specifically was the most memorable for me, that girl was running around like crazy and did not fail to address any concerns or comments.

I loved everything about the hotel itself aside from the bed being a bit uncomfortable, but it was manageable. Any of our concerns were for other people staying there and how they treated us and others. This was in no way the hotels fault, and we were still granted leniency to enjoy our stay peacefully from the staff to redeem some of the missed chances caused by other people like the lack of pool time.

Only .08 miles away from the event center.

Could not close the big curtain all the way. Sun was in our eyes while on bed. Wish you they would have close all the way. We were early for check in on saturday and the two staff were very kind and let us park in parking garage until check in. Some of the night staff seemed off key and a little bit un-aproachable, they did not smile or look happ at all. (I know dealing with people can be stressfulmm and they were having technical difficulties) but they we're helpful with what we needed. Night staff was great, very approachable and had smiles on their faces. Definitely would stay and recommend again.

Water pressure was bad took 20 mins for shower to even get warm then I told them 3 times there was no soap in bathroom was told housekeeping refilled it got back from volleyball tournament daughter went to go check and nope nothing was filled after that I gave up on telling them then by tv last person left used nail file there nasty

I had a disappointing experience with billing and communication. At check in, I was told I had two reservations (which I didn’t recall making) and immediately said I only needed one room. The hotel wasn’t full but they still charged me for the unused second room. Since I was still staying at the hotel and paying for a room, I expected they would just cancel the second room without penalty. Had they been transparent and told me they were going to charge for the unused room, I would have kept it and let others in our soccer team group use it. Instead, I paid full price for a room that sat empty. Poor communication, lack of flexibility or concern for the guest.

The location was central and it was less then 20min from anywhere we needed to get to in the area

The parking is a little on the pricier side and yes, I understand it is a central/downtown location, but it is hard knowing that there are many other hotels 10ish minutes away with free parking

I love that the room was spacious and clean, it truly was a relaxing stay. It also had a refrig and microwave which helped with leftovers the next day. I would recommend this location!

Manager wouldn’t come talk and would just send the front desk girl when I asked for help with jewelry that was in the drain, and said they couldn’t do anything even though it was just a simple wrench needed.

Room had no towels we had to go get some, to turn the shower on was very difficult and the knobs for hot and cold were opposite of normal ( hot was cold and cold was hot) same for sink. No body wash in our shower for what ever reason the person who cleaned the room forgot to restock. The hot tub was foamy and pool very very cloudy. We did not use either of those amenities. Breakfast was cold (eggs, potatoes and sausage) used microwave in snack area to heat.

Location is excellent as we stay there when having medical appointments and surgeries. This property is staffed by very polite pleasant people who are most helpful!

Entry was awkward and seemed remote with no one in sight. A little scary.

The room was nice and modern. The bathroom was very nice. Elevators were very quick and available. Had a nice lobby and temperature was easy to control in the room.

The hot breakfast was not available the second day (out of two) which was very disappointing. There was something sticky in the carpet that was in a very unavoidable spot that was really annoying. I know I was only there 2 nights, but it would have been nice if the cleaning staff did the room. They were not able to accommodate a late checkout (even for a fee) and that really would have been great, so that was a let down.

The original room we booked, the mini fridge did not work. They transfered us to another similar room. However when we got settled in didn't realize the bathroom was just a shower, but had kids all setled in and was not going to request another room at that point. Made it tough to shower a 4 and 2 year old. Then we found the hand wash sink was draining very slowly. Let front desk know and they said maintenance would be able to fix that. However that never got fixed. Had to go down to lobby to get new towels and dispose of trash. Cleaning service never picked up trash outside off room. Bed was okay but pillows were not great. Couch in room was uncomfortable to sit in due to pointy fabric coming out of cushions, was only on the cushions and kinda weird. Pool got shut down for unexpected maintenance issue on last night. No notifications until you reached the pool, kids cried, they already had swim stuff on, made last night rough.

There was way too much chlorine in the pool. Our eyes burned just sitting in the pool room. This really impacted our visit as we had a 4 year old with us who was really looking forward to swimming.

When you have someone knocking at your door asking, you are you still here at 9 in the morning? When our check all time 9, that's the only problem I had you. Do got a nice, fat place there.

The bad bed was one of the worst beds that I have ever slept in. That’s just my personal preference. I don’t prefer an overly hard mattress. A little more attention to detail when cleaning the room needs to be done.

We stayed because our house burnt. We never once had an issue while there and stayed for 19 days. Always gave us fresh towels and linens when asked. It was a very devastating time for us and trying to learn to live in a hotel with our kids was horrible but having a bed to sleep in for all of us and free breakfast every morning and knowing we didn't have to worry about being ok was takin care of by them . thank u

The room and staff are excellent. Hot tub is very nice. Noon checkout is great. We got upgraded to a suite which is super nice and well designed. Great area of town with many eating and drinking options within walking distance. Most of the parking is covered.

A better brand of coffee in the room would be nice. Breakfast is just ok.

Location was close to Helen Devos Children’s Hospital which is where we had to go the next morning for our daughter’s surgery. Pool and hot tub were nice!

Staff were not very friendly or helpful during check in. Fire alarm went off at 11pm at night. Staff were very unprofessional, laughing about the matter. Never once was there an apology even. My daughter was scheduled for surgery at 6:40 in the morning and we were then up till 1am trying to get her back to sleep because of an alarm going off in the middle of the night. Very inconvenient. The room was small and the temperature was hot or cold no happy medium. Also, the water took around ten minutes to actually get hot. The shower that I had to use to bathe my child had black mold in it. The handle in the shower was extremely hard to turn and then would result in a sudden temperature change, either too hot or too cold. Overall the stay was a terrible experience. We drove from almost 3 hours away to not have to wake up so early to get my daughter to surgery and ended up regretting our decision. I would never stay at this hotel again even if we did decide to stay a night in Grand Rapids for my daughter’s appointment again.

Bed bug, elevators broke most of the stay. We had to go up 7 floors of stairs with a daughters with knee issues, pool was down, parking is a nightmare and not feee! And the price for all the issues plus parking was nuts!!

Room rate was reasonable, it was easy on easy off the expressway, bonus that breakfast was included. Room was clean, lobby had really nice furniture and fixtures, parking was easy

There were 4 of us in 1 room and the key card machine was broken. 1 key for 4 people isn't good. We were there 3 nights. Breakfast was decent but the workers in there made you feel like you were bothering them...way before 10. The people at the desk were nice and helpful.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We stayed two nights at the Hampton Inn & Suites Grand Rapids Downtown for a nearby race and had an excellent experience. The hotel is clean, spacious, and beautiful with modern touches throughout. Our bed was incredibly comfortable, the view was amazing, and the bathroom was huge — a really nice bonus after a long day. Breakfast was hot, delicious, and different each morning, with plenty of options to choose from. The staff were professional, friendly, and always willing to help when needed. We definitely recommend this hotel and will absolutely be staying here again!
