Lovely building. Very nice helpful staff. Would definitely return.
Had to make your own drinks at breakfast with hot water flasks.
This is a beautiful building. Staff are really helpfully and the food was absolutely amazing.
Not really assessable for someone with mobility issues.
Both excellent. Staff very friendly.
The location
Everything was good couldn’t fault it
Staff amazing, everything perfect.
Place was lovely and the staff were excellent, so friendly and kind.
It rained too much to explore the grounds
Wonderful period property. Great facilities
The fact they didn’t serve evening meals but they advised local pubs which were great
Great value. Nice breakfast. Staff were really friendly. We arrived very late but they couldn't have been more helpful. Even threw together a dinner for us. A building with so much history. We stayed as b&b and we were the only ones there! Great find
This is a wedding venue. You sit next to fully laid wedding tables with classical music playing. Its quite errie as you walk though an empty building. So much history here, house has been converted to caterer for bride and groom and guests. Felt I'd arrived on the wrong day for a special day. Would be great for your wedding though x
Stop over and wanted a switch off to busy weekend - lovely. As it v was a Monday night there was one member of staff to welcome us. Lovely lady who couldn’t do enough to help/advise! Breakfast staff were very good too and the food was lovely!
Nothing- only reason for a 9 was because we had travelled a 6 hr journey to go out for evening meal; a suggested place which we had been given by the member of staff- very nice too! We knew this before we booked the hotel so no problem!
Beautiful building and very well kept
Nothing
Room was spectacular for a younger couple . 4 poster bed , jacuzzi bath . My husband is disabled so beautiful but impractical .
Stairs to climb . Banister covered with wee fairy lights so made the climb for my husband very awkward.
Nice place 👌
It thought it was a little overpriced.
Breakfast was superb
We were very pleased with everything for the money charged. So can't think of anything to improve on
Polite and friendly staff great breakfast bed was very comfortable
We stayed for a wedding and it was wonderful. The hall is not massive, but that just made it intimate. It still managed to be grand inside, and the grounds are really beautiful all in flower. Food was very tasty, service abit slow at dinner, both other than that couldn't fault it. Staff very attentive. Good parking.
Beautiful hall, stunning location. Staff were incredibly helpful. Loads of history....haunted homes programme series 6 episode 6 👻
Nothing....fabulous stay
We had a 1 night stay here as we were fortunate enough to be gusts at a wedding venue nearby. Momentous occasion for myself therefore the excitement levels were hard to contain. Well folks, what can I say? I was extremely pleased with this hotel. The chap at the reception showed exceptional customer service to check us in and personally take us to our room. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was comfortable. A win for me. The breakfast the following morning by was great, an array of choices both hot and cold. The grounds were well kept and the location was not far from Carlisle. I tremendous stay. I’ll be back
Ok nicely served
Make it more like hotel than wedding venue
Stunning property.
The room was great.
Hotel was beautiful and staff lovely, it wasn't too busy when we stayed. Lovely grounds to sit out in.
Breakfast wasn't quite ready when we arrived but it was lovely once it did.
Der Garten und das Haus
Leider wurde in der Nachbarschaft gebaut
Stunning location and a very unique Building with such helpful staff
Nothing
Historic and characterful
Garden paths needed weeding! Minor issue
Such an iconic and unique traditional building and location
A remarkable find that broke our journey North. Very close to the motorway…. A majestic property with excellent staff.
Nothing
Everything exceeded expectations. Staff were very friendly and happy to help. Location was perfect for my appointments in the area.
Very comfortable
They are very focused on wedding. We were incredibly badly served during breakfast as staff were rushing for wedding preparation
Every thing place was gorgeous
Nothing
Everything about the place and staff
We had to leave
The setting was beautifully & tranquil
The lovely welcome to Dalston Hall then seeing the beautiful, spacious room that we were assigned. Spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed and wonderful views. Wished that we could extend our stay it was so perfect.
Nothing
We had no TV in the room
Posh , Clean and great location

I love this location. 500 year old ted sandstone building with crenellations and loads of wood panelling
The walk the the village is just a tad too long if you want to venture out.
Beautiful historic property. Ideal stopping off point for the night on our way to Scotland. Handy for Dalson village and only 10 minute drive into Carlisle. Nice breakfast and evening meal. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Very user friendly
Nothing
Lovely, beautiful old hall, original everything, so beautifully kept. Loved the staff. Tucki is an exceptional host.
That we had to leave.
Literally everything. Couldn’t fault it
It was quirky but very quiet and comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Really great value as B&B cost less than nearby Travelodges and Premier Inns.
Nothing. It was great value.
Friendly staff, large room and comfy bed. Quiet area so had one of the best sleeps I’ve had this year.
No phone signal at all and poor WiFi.
Staff very friendly and accommodating
The drink prices were expensive
Lovely old building and grounds. Friendly staff and got a free upgrade in room, which was really spacious and comfy.
I feel bad writing anything negative, but for use constructively it sells itself as a wedding venue rather than a hotel and it kind of comes across that way. When we went for breakfast there wasn’t a set table ready for us, I had to point out there was no eggs or coffee left and when the coffee came i had to ask for cups. The breakfast itself when all there was really good (full English) but I don’t like pre done toast sitting on a hot plate I want to toast it fresh myself. There was no continental option only cereal or yogurt and sauce in little plastic sachets kind of cheapens the vibe. And can you make breakfast available a little later at the weekend.
Location of the house/castle.... It was realy a castle ! We were surprised it was ... instead of a large house
Nothing, or it must be the looking waiting for warm water in the shower
The food was very tasty
The same person was doing reception and restaurant service simultaneously and unfortunately this had an impact on the speed of response to requests during dinner.
Very nice hotel
The customer care on the phone when I phoned to advise I would be checking in late, the friendliness of the night porter, the gardens and the castle. The room I stayed in was an upgrade from what I booked, the view was amazing.
The stark bedroom lighting and decor. The price paid vs the 'luxury feel' - I was in a £ 300-per-night room, but it was lacking. The breakfast was the weakest element of my stay. The food was great when it finally arrived, but the staff were under-resourced. Disappointing selection at the buffet, for the money paid. The staff were very friendly, which helped, but when I arrived, there were no tables to sit at - all had been used and not cleared down. Also somewhat strange to sit in a wedding environment with tables set for a function in the breakfast room. I almost sat at one of the tables for 10, rather than a table for 1
It’s a nice old hotel with wonderful old features with lots of character. The rooms are nice and large
The bedroom lamps not working and only 1 working socket which used the kettle that was need for medical equipment. The cups in the room were very small. Not many seats in the hotel to sit down and relax. Breakfast was a not great staff seemed to be missing and when about did not engage with customers, toast was low key cardboard things know it was made the day before. Was very disappointed put me on ff from ordering a meal at night.
Staff , room , history, atmosphere
Breakfast was lovely, however sausage was not cooked very pale and tasted so. The rest was great
Beautiful building
The room wasn’t very clean, carpet was all stained and hole in the bathroom floor! Shower didn’t work, tv constantly glitched
Beautiful period property excellent authentic detail
I wish I’d paid for a slightly more salubrious room
Quick change of plans meant we stayed at Dalston Hall
Sadly the staff tried but were very inexperienced in all aspects of hotel management. So much that was wrong, were small details, but they all add up. On leaving a manager approached us for a review. I would suggest, for him, he should “manage” the hotel by being present to see what is needed and he could then direct his staff appropriately to improve the whole experience for his guests.
Amazing place! Staff was exceptional!
Spacious clean room, lovely power shower, gigantic bed. Breakfast was quality ingredients and great service.
All was fine
Very nice venue, caters a lot for weddings.
Venetian blinds let too much light in, bedroom was lit up all night.
Such attentive kindness from the staff Lovely room with enormous and comfortable bed Excellent food at dinner and breakfast
Nothing!
Very nice building
Great location and facility, dining room is strange as it is part of the wedding venue but the overall facilities are excellent and the staff cannot do enough to help you Great to see Taylors Coffee bags in the complimentary room drinks
Instant coffee at breakfast..........
Lovely spacious room with comfortable large bed. Good location.
The staff were very helpful and respectful to deal wth. We were in room 9 and it was very good - great views, comfortable bed and quiet. The breakfast was good as well. Overall great value for money and we would book again.
Perhaps the hard standing in the grounds (which is presumably for a wedding marquee) and the 40ft container, could be screened off? They spoil the grounds which are otherwise very pleasant in which to stroll.
The history and the uniqueness
Nothing to dislike
Heel laat geboekt en daardoor veel korting gekregen, niet het meest belangrijk maar wel lekker
Lovely traditional Manor House.
Large ceramic bath in middle of floor difficult for older citizens. Bed very creaky but understandably in a traditional bedroom and house.
The building
Extremely slow service 45 mins for a starter Limited staff seemed to be I'm the kitchen not in the restaurant area visible to customers
Nice rooms food and drinks
I liked it all
Plenty to choose from for breakfast even made vegan stuff for my wife
No room service to make bed or replace fresh towels
Beautiful location.
What a fantastic location- so quiet and relaxing. The room was spacious and bathroom had everything you need. Food and drinks were good and reasonably priced. The bar is a lovely place to sit and relax. There is also a room with a pool, or snooker table and other games. We only saw 1 staff member in the evening- a lovely young lady who was the receptionist/waitress/bar staff. Despite being busy, she was very friendly and made time to have a chat. The Hall is a popular wedding venue and the main hall set up for this and the grounds are lovely.
The water in shower was a bit temperamental and not hot for long. The TV in bedroom could do with an update.
Old school vibes
Food was ok, not amazing.
It was a random choice as a stopover and how lucky were we! Gorgeous place, a lovely dinner and super breakfast.
Nothing.
Great location near the Carlisle racecourse Unique country house ambience and great hall Attractive garden and surroundings Cosy games room
No leisure facilities - gym, swimming pool
Lovely period property
THE SURROUNDINGS OF THE HOTEL ARE BEAUTIFUL. WE ONLY STAYED ONE NIGHT AND THE ROOM EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS. LOVELY BREAKFAST WHICH SENT US HAPPILY ON OUR WAY.
ONLY ONE SLIGHT NIGGLE WITH THE DOOR TO ROOM 8...FOR SOME REASON WHEN OTHER DOORS WERE CLOSED THE DOOR TO NUMBER 8 BANGED VERY LOUDLY. WE HAD TO WEDGE THE DOOR CLOSED AGAINST THE FRAME.
Loved this place every single one of the staff were so friendly. Beautiful building with lovely grounds massive bedroom with an exceptional comfy massive bed. Can’t fault the place would definitely return
I got a free room upgrade and the breskfast top notch!
Hmmmmm. I can't think of anything.
Good size room. Friendly staff. Found a lovely restaurant called the Crown Inn a Close d to honest with you we might pre-booking first yeah few miles away.
Restaurant closed due to illness. Struggled to find somewhere to eat without pre booking first.
The building and grounds were nice and it was peaceful
Location, history the building and the enthusiasm of the staff
Nothing although given the location you have to go into town for dinner
Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was nice and clean.
There were no coathangers or hooks for hanging up clothes or coats.
The character of the building, huge potential.
I liked all aspects.
Always enjoy staying here. Great location. Quiet and peaceful. Staff ALL great. Room comfortable. Will definitely recommend and return.
Was a little strange have breakfast in the wedding guest reception area(?).
A beautiful building!
Sadly the food we ordered, steak pie, was way below standard-only 3 tiny prices of meat! And breakfast was late, we were told from 0730 but didn’t start until 8
Picturesque period property about 5 mins from the centre of Carlisle. Parking available.
This property is primarily a wedding venue which does B & B at times. Breakfast and dinner served in the wedding function room which felt rather bare. There were only 4 tables to be served for breakfast each morning but service was painfully slow, at least a half hour wait for the cooked food. On our second day laundry from one of the rooms was left on the corridor, and it was still there that night and the next morning! I don't expect sheets or towels to be replaced daily, but I would like to have used mugs replaced by clean ones and tea bags, milk containers etc replenished daily.
Great location for a nearby family wedding. Pleasant staff. Lovely grounds and comfy bed.
No hot water for our 2 night stay Had to ask 3 separate staff members for an ironing board Buffet breakfast cold both mornings and greasy Hard to find staff members anywhere in the building Stains on the carpet in our room Speaking to another couple whilst waiting for staff to appear at breakfast... They felt exactly the same as us. When asking for a hairdryer I was told there weren't any as the previous ones broke a few weeks ago. Such a shame as the venue and grounds have great potential!
The building was beautiful
WiFi connection was non existent within room 2
The place is very beautiful, really quiet and tucked away. Our room was great, everything was very authentic and vintage styled. the breakfast was nice. For the same price as a budget b&b in town to stay here was really a no brainer!
The only issue we had was the bed, as pretty as it was and to be expected with it being so old, but it was reallyyyy creaky, to the point where if I rolled over in the night it woke me up every time. And the shower had next to no pressure, but to be expected with age.
The views were breathtaking and the two staff members I had in the evening were exceptional. They helped me move rooms as I had no WiFi and couldn’t do enough to help.
Went to breakfast at 8:05 hardly anything left, no table set for new guests myself and another couple had to wait for clothes to be changed before sitting down. Only one lady working it seemed, no juices were offered. I left very hungryand thirsty. Then upon arriving to my room the shower was freezing and i had no hot water.
