Reviewed Sep 12, 2026What a clean well presented studio. Feels very new. Overall – very good – this is one of the nicest little studios we have stayed in for a long time. We would stay there again, and we would definitely recommend it as the best choice in that area.
The bed was a lovely huge king-size bed but as all motels have, the mattress is too hard for a soft comfortable sleep. Parking could be limited if the place is booked out, but we got to park at our door.

Staff upon check in not overly friendly. Heatpump didn't go properly, had to have it right up to 30 to get a little heat, was enough but hate to be in the room in the middle of winter 1/2 bottle of expired milk in fridge which I nearly used. Parking disappointing that its not one park for every unit, first in first served and if yiu came in late had to park round the back, which if yiur by yourself at night isn't great.

Soap dispenser in shower needed fixing. Chipboard slider door, the bottom edge needed waterproofing. Shower grout at the bottom needed replacing or mould spray

Reviewed Jun 5, 2026I have always stayed at this motel whenever visiting Paeroa and, under previous management, it was one of my favourite places to stay. Tui and Shyanne created an atmosphere that was warm, welcoming and professional, which is why I kept returning. Unfortunately, my recent experience under new management Judy Pihana was the complete opposite and was genuinely one of the most uncomfortable customer service experiences I have had. During a previous stay, I arrived and politely asked whether I could leave my bags and return later. I was told no because cleaners and contractors were onsite, which I completely understood. I offered to pay and come back later and was met with “well whatever,” which immediately felt dismissive and rude. Check-in itself felt cold and unwelcoming. The room keys were placed on the desk and I was simply told “Room 1” with very little communication. Throughout the stay I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. While we were out, staff entered the room and left paperwork on the bed without notice, which I personally found inappropriate and uncomfortable. On checkout morning, despite checkout being 10:00am, there was loud knocking around 9:00am asking when I would be leaving. I apologised and explained I was waiting for my grandmother and would be out shortly. I packed everything, stripped the beds and cleaned the room before leaving. I later booked another stay for 4–7 June 2026. That booking was cancelled with the reason that the room had been “left in a state.” Confused, I rebooked online and paid successfully, only to have the booking cancelled again. I drove to the motel to respectfully ask for clarification. Reception was locked and I spoke with the manager outside. When I asked why my booking had been cancelled, I was told: “Because I cancelled it.” When I asked if she could explain why, I was told: “No. I don’t need to tell you why. You ain’t being checked in.” I explained that I was only trying to understand what had happened.
