Location is fantastic, the views are spectacular. Plenty of parking.
Had no problems at all.
Excellent place to stay.
The cups in the rooms are much too small and the rims are too wide. For our future visits could you please put a glass or plastic tumbler in the rooms for those who need to have water in the night.Thank you.
Excellent breakfast of hot food off the menu
N/A
great location on moors
not impressed with unfriendly welcome at reception
Have stayed before. I am very happy to return
Bedside lights too dim
All good with excellent location
There was nothing that I didn’t like
breakfast great, staff great, room a little dated, massive security issue with car park, needs bright lights and entry barrier
late night car park activity
Spacious room, comfortable bed, quiet location, decent shower.
Could hear toilets of other guests flushing, and doors slamming during the night.
Location
Location was excellent The ability to sign in at 2pm ws very helpful. Comfortable bed. The breakfast was very good.
Very dated. No lift and I struggled up the stairs with my luggage. I am 75. The shower was very difficult.
Lovely views. Dated but clean.
Doors slammed very loud throughout the night. No door slam stoppers. Staff in the night also slammed doors. Woken up numerous times.
Beautiful location and lovely hotel
Bathroom was very small and looked very shabby could do with upgrading
The views were great, the staff we welcoming and helpful, and the room was comfortable.
The resturant was closed so we had to have a bar meal. We played pool but the room is too small tobplay properly
Venue
No digital latest tv screen to connect our phone
Great location and good facilities considering the price
Bar service was slow due to shortage of staff during my stay, but staff were friendly
I always stay here when I visit family and its consistently good. The staff is very helpful.
Lovely location, beautiful views, very quiet
The coffee at breakfast has changed and doesn’t really pack a punch - might be personal preference but it tasted a bit meh 😬
Dinner (bangers and mash in the bar) was good.
A dripping tap in the bathroom which I reported on departure. Room 15
Beautiful views, charging points for the car, comfortable bed,
The reception/bar staff we sullen and unfriendly. A smile and a cheerful hello / good morning goes a long way, we felt more like can inconvenience to them. That was enough to stop us going back. The decor was tired, plug sockets didn't all work and were in random places.
The view
Beautiful views
Very well preaded freshly made to order
There could have been a more comfortable seating in the bar area
Unique
Some decor looks tired
View from the hotel.

It was so busy
The scenery is amazing and the hotel is very quiet and peaceful. The staff are very accommodating. The rooms are nice and clean and the breakfast was 2nd to none I've had in a long time...10/10
The only issue I had but I say this about the majority of hotels. The pillows should be memory-foam as standard. They're too soft. No neck or shoulder support makes for an uncomfortable sleep! But the breakfast made up for it a little!
Very comfortable bed. Quiet location on the moors with dramatic views and fresh air. I slept like a baby! Very nice breakfast, except for the coffee pot
Breakfast coffee poor. Wifi in room 4 was basically non-existent, very low signal and could not connect properly and work. I raised it at reception and on the feedback form. Was a big issue for me. Had to move to another area and then use my mobile signal which is limited data.
Lovely Views, quiet location, friendly staff
Nothing
Food excellent, staff friendly and helpful, lovely views
Room was clean and tidy, bathroom does need updating!
Great location and views Peaceful and quiet Plenty of parking Comfy bed Friendly staff
Rooms are a little bit dated but very clean
Stunning views
The surroundings
The hotel was freezing cold and it took 15 minutes to find someone to check in with - a grumpy young woman who I had to go behind the bar and knock hard on the kitchen door to find. She was also rude when we came to order food. All the rest of the staff were nice though. A bus of guests arrived and kept their coats on throughout their time in the bar. The heating finally came on at 1.30am. Dangerously hot towel rail in the bathroom almost scalded my grandson and hot water from the cold tap. Strange smell of stale cigarettes from the water in the bathroom too.
Wonderful location on top of the Pennines.
Shower in the room was scoldingly hot.The room had everything but all a bit scruffy.
Nice place but let down by service , they had a murder mystery w/e and simply could not cater for hotel guests
Having to wait over an hour for a dinner order , 15min for bar service twice
Friendly staff, neat and clean.
WiFi was next to nothing with only speeds of 1mbps.
Plenty of car parking. There was an excellent view from the hotel car park. We enjoyed a bar snack on one of the three nights we stayed.
No atmosphere due to minimal number of guests and very few staff members on duty. The mattress was ok but clearly tired itself and in need of replacing. Aside from one slightly older member of staff who was helpful when we ordered food on the first night we were not made to feel welcome. Receptionist was very matter of fact and lacked enthusiasm. On the second night it was apparent that only one member of staff was on duty which meant a long wait to get a drink at the bar whilst she 'cashed up' so leaving a newly arrived guest waiting at reception as well as a thirsty guest.
Lovely location with scenic views. Car park very big and free parking. Arrived very late but not a problem. Room clean, nice and comfortable. Room was lovely cool temperature which was perfect for this heatwave we are in at the moment. Breakfast very nice. Staff were polite and friendly.
Location
Room little dated needed few repairs
Never got to stay as our booking had been lost between booking.com and the hotel. Four weeks on and still awaiting a refund.
Breakfast basic.
Manager pleasant and helpful. Staff member at breakfast pleasant but other staff miserable and unhelpful.
Staff were friendly, room was clean, comfortable and quiet. .
More out of the way than I was expecting. I was walking the Pennine way and had to get a bus to Slaithwaite and then I walked up to hotel.
No fuss check-in. Spacious clean room. Clean environment, and comfortable bed. Due to location on the moor, no external noise, and hotel was very quiet also which all main for a good night sleep. We prebooked breakfast and that was good value for money including our choice of full English which must have been cooked to order as arrived piping hot and well presented.
Not much to dislike. The drive upto the hotel via some narrow lanes made more challenging by the highway code/ riad markings obviously not applying (husband is an advanced driver). Staff were pleasant and efficient but hotel maybe working on miminal staffing, no one on reception at check-out.
Used to stay here many years ago found it a lovely location, was a peaceful atmosphere.
Don't think it's had a freshen up in quite a few years
The staff were very busy with a wedding on but they were so accommodating. The food was reasonably priced, breakfast had a good selection of food. The location was perfect with stunning views in every direction.
That seemed to be issues with the restaurant adding the bill to the room and at checkout we were unable to pay for our food. It would have been nice if there were more gluten-free options as they had run out of the ones available. It also would have been nice if that was a dairy-free alternative at breakfast for coffees.
Nice views
Very Dated
It was clean. Excellent views. Location perfect for the purpose of visit.
I booked for 2 superior doubles, 1 standard double and a twin room. Unnecessary confusion from hotel receptionist when I called to add names to each room. She said I’d only booked two standard doubles and a twin. I was told I couldn’t add names to the rooms? She then “found my extra double, but not superior as booked? When I arrived, a man on reception said I had 2 superior, 1 standard and a twin as booked? Why did the lady add stress? The breakfast was stone cold. Decent looking buffet-style full English but the storage vessels were not heated and everything was cold. Terrible breakfast.
Location
Outdated and tired rooms - stains in the toilet
Ideal location as attending a family gathering. Breakfast was good
Staff were great friendly and helpful, room was immaculate and tidy and attended to everyday to an extremely high standard. Great shower and bed.
Unfortunately on my last night some travellers rocked up and left a load of mess outside in the car park and were noisy and disrespectful to everybody else staying at the hotel and minding their own business. But not the hotels fault it's just how it is.
Location. Lovely views.
When we booked in the girl on reception hadn't a clue and no time for us.
Lovely place to stay, excellent food
All good
Location was lovely, view for miles. Comfy bed & linen. Food great.
Nothing
Clean room, ok stay for one night.
Restaurant no food served in the evening.
Clean room
There was plenty of parking free of charge, the shower was powerful, and the bed was comfy
It was very dated, unclean, and there were boy racers zooming around in the car park at 3am and blasting music. Doors slam shut loudly so you can hear other guests coming and going. Staff were no where to be seen, I was waiting for quite a while at the front desk to check in and I had to leave my key card at reception when I checked out, as again, the reception desk was unmanned.
Very good breakfast, lots of choices, beautiful countryside, only *10 minutes away from Huddersfield
Nice views and staff were lovely
Just a little aged in respect of decor. Things starting to fall apart. Nothing major but a refit is due soon I’d say.
Exceptional
The scenery. Location is beautiful.
Room freezing cold. No bath. Bedding didn't smell pleasant and had holes in. Constant mechanical tone driving us mad. Requested refund in writing via booking com directly to the hotel as we didn't want to stay. I've heard nothing. Rooms not like on photographs on Booking.com
Beautiful view, but the hotel itself is dark and opressive. I asked for a refund in writing and was prepared to leave rather than stay but heard nothing. The room was freezing, the bedding didn't smell particularly pleasant and we were literally haunted by a constant tone whilst in our room. Depressing experience.
The cumfy beds
Tired place, needs updating
Lovely scenic setting and rooms clean and comfortable.
We come back to this hotel regularly due to the excellent value for money. Although the drinks at the hotel bar seem to have jumped up since we left visited earlier on in the year, this little gem is a great hotel in a wonderful, peaceful location. The breakfast is always brilliant with a brilliant selection on offer.
There seemed to be a problem with the heating, and with drafty, old windows, our room was freezing when we checked in. Although we were assured the heating was on, it did take a very long time for the radiators to become warm, never mind hot.
Met our needs at short notice
It was deserted practically on arrival and one staff member appeared to be filling all roles
Room is a good size tea coffee making equipment in room and free view tv food excellent as always Views from the hotel are amazing you can see for miles due to the vantage point of the hotel Quiet location. No traffic noise third or 4th time I've stayed and my go to hotel if in the area
Tv a bit small bar pricey but hey can't take it with u
All good and met expectations. Good service from the team on arrival and during breakfast (which we decided to book separately in the morning)
Some of the rooms were very hot! Because we decided on breakfast, we ended up having to pay for each individual breakfast... which meant x4 card transactions and x4 invoices. A bit of a pain, but it didn't spoil the stay.
Bed was comfy
Staff seemed under unnecessary pressure, left on their own to do more than one role and sometimes out of their depth. Having to wait for service due to young lady having to deal with a major room issue which the manager (who was off site) should have dealt with and not left to this poor young woman to face. Food was bad, very basic with a variety of temperatures and no care taken in delivery.
Location
Bathroom sink was blocked not a major issue but still for handwashing it was important.
The view
The fact they had a function on and they put us in a room right next to the function room it was very loud until 2am in the morning was not happy I spoke to you staff about the noise but didn't do nothing about it
It's location. It's beautiful.
Rooms are a bit dated. Very clean though. Heated towel rack in bathroom. Couldn't turn it off or down. It was like a sauna in there in the morning.
Nice sized room, food excellent, great views from hotel
Bar bit pricey
The location
The toilet didn't flush in the room
Location and views were the best thing about the stay
No cold water in the room! Just scolding hot water! Not able to bath or shower, had to use another rooms shower before our family event quickly before other guests checked in! - management didn’t care only 1 staff member on at all time
Three of us had booked and paid for three separate double rooms with this windswept, barren fort on the edge of the moors. When we arrived, mid afternoon, after waiting 10 minutes whilst the receptionist dealt with “another problem” we were met with “Your booking is not on our system, so you can’t stay here” - no apologies, no empathy, no viable alternative solution”. We proved to the receptionist that we had paid and booked ( 6 weeks prior), but we were just met either a stone faced rejection and shrug of the shoulders. Computer said “ no”. We then asked to speak to the manager “Josh Sanders” which we had to do by phone and who was clearly sat in a pub as you could hear the “ching ching” of glasses and the background noise of chatter and banter. We were then offered alternative rooms at their sister hotel in Halifax but this was over 8 miles away and completely in the opposite direction to the family event we were heading to just an hour or so later. Josh then offered to ring around over local hotels to see if they had rooms and said “ he would take care of things”. He did find one other hotel just over a mile away and said that he had agreed with the manager of the other hotel that he would sort out the payment on the following Monday morning, meaning that we would not have to pay for a second hotel on the day- or so we thought. So we drove to the second hotel, and whilst they had rooms free , they had no knowledge of “Josh” sorting the payment out on Monday and insisted payment was made before we checked in, which I can understand from their perspective. So with time running out, we had to make a second hotel payment for the same night at almost double the rate we had paid the Pennine Manor Hotel. In summary, customer service and ownership of problems is non existent at the Pennine Manor, which was evident by the lack of training of the hotel receptionist and the lies and deception of the hotel manager. When a problem on bookings occurs that is not the customers fault, working in the hospitality business, you own it and satisfy the customer, with a resolution - whatever it takes. This establishment is fraudulent, evasive, unhelpful and couldn’t service pigs in mud. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Good location. Quiet
The bed was made quite lazily. Not crisp. Whining noise from pipes . Acceptable mattress
Easy access to motorway
Strong smell of cannabis on the floor we were staying on.
Nice views
The rooms are very dated. Limited on plugs which I know isn’t the be all and end all. Receptionist upon arrival wasn’t the friendliest and didn’t appear to want to be there. Room was however clean and the view was lovely. Ok if you plan to just go and sleep and leave but wouldn’t want an extended stay
Always a pleasure to stay here, The food from the restaurant is amazing Views are stunning
Nothing
Good value for money
Nothing wowed me
Good location - good views
No atmosphere - staff were difficult to find.
Staff were amazing, location fabulous, and it's just a bit dated. A little investment would be a huge benefactor.
Old damaged fixtures and the carpets all need changing
Lovely location. Clean with good bedding and towels.
Receptionists barely raised a smile. No welcome. Woodwork in room (wardrobe wouldn’t shut with haphazard paintwork) bathroom woodwork (cupboard under the sink facade curling and badly chipped. Also behind the toilet). Generally the whole hotel needed a facelift and staff to be less anonymous. Food was not good though breakfast ok.
Clean and comfortable
