We liked that this is a quirky, traditional hotel, its unlike any of the well-known brands where every room is the same. Reasonably priced bar meals and drinks, we stayed prior to flying out from Manchester airport the following day. Easy access to the airport and to Knutsford where there are lovely bars, shops and cafes. Plenty of car parking at the hotel. There was a function on when we were there, but this did not impact on our stay/comfort/noise levels.

it took 3 times to get an acceptable room, booked executive room for kingsize bed, given feature room with a double, then given a dark damp and dog smelling room that no-one would stay in , finally got a larger bedroom with windows , no damp and a large bed -decor ok but not as expected for price. Also requested bedroom on ground floor for my mother 89 and got one up a flight of stairs - however no other room available close to reception so we took this.

Great stopover on a trip up to Scotland from the south. Easy to find off the M6 motorway. Unexpectedly lovely grounds. Easy parking. Much nicer and cheaper than a faceless chain hotel on the motorway.

Lovely big room, well furnished with roomy bathroom all spotlessly clean. Plenty of choice for breakfast with the option to eat on the terrace next to the lake. Meals available in the restaurant or bar ( lovely comfortable seating and decor). We opted for a lighter meal in the bar and were not disappointed. Food was lovely and well presented.

Personally there was nothing we didn't like although I expect some would prefer a swimming pool

Lovely country Hotel, very pleasant location, great staff. The bedroom was very spacious and comfy. Evening meal in the restaurant was delicious and breakfast was good with lots of choice. A nice outside terrace next to a small lake where you could eat and have a drink, weather was good too!

It’s very homely

One of the things that really stood out about this venue was the owner. They had a real presence throughout the day, taking the time to speak to guests and making sure everyone was enjoying themselves. It was clear they genuinely cared that everything ran smoothly, and their hands-on approach made the whole experience feel personal and welcoming. It really added to the atmosphere and made the day even more special.

Lovely hotel with beautiful grounds . Staff were excellent . The room was big and spacious with a great big bed . Food was exceptional !

The room wasn't cleaned properly (used sanitary towel in the bin), the staff didn't know what could or couldn't be charged to the room, and then were rude when asking us to pay... tried to charge us for breakfast even though we booked b&b... And when we checked out, tried to charge us for the bar tab & breakfast again!!! Location is great, staff not so much. Hotel defo needs an electrical inspection too, sockets & light switches were clearly wired up by the gardener.

Excellent stay, had a top floor room which was lovely and quiet. The food in the restaurant was first rate as was the breakfast and service received from all the team during my stay. I look forward to returning.

Very tired looking in places. Moth eaten carpet by settee in room. Signs of damp round windows. Asked for walk in shower but it was shower over bath. Maybe the room was not used often but was very quiet.

The tea and coffee facilities in the room could have been improved; the room looked tired and needed a refurb. There was only 1 fan in a large room on a hot day/evening. The breakfast was not great.

We stayed for a wedding. Our room was lovely. Big and bright with a nice bathroom.

We stayed in the Buckingham room. No fridge and the bed wasn’t as big as I expected. Just the size of a normal double when I paid for a large double. Very uncomfortable mattress too. I woke up every time my husband turned over !

The Receotionists were very helpful and welcoming. I think this hotel is excellent value for money, in a peaceful setting. Parking was included in the price. Breakfast has a range of options. My room had a lovely view over the garden.

Pleasant grounds in a quiet location. Furnishings in bedroom were good, with two easy chairs, and the provision of both a bath and shower was nice.

Breakfast buffet was mediocre, and the coffee was cold. The bedroom was fairly stuffy.

The wedding was a great function

There was faeces up the toilet cubicle wall and on the floor opposite the function room during the function. Our room had a horrible smell and the mattress was like a bouncy castle and we did not feel it reflected the £233 price tag for one night.

Beautifully presented, very helpful staff. Nice to see a family-owned business with the owner on the premises, and his personal involvement shows. Both restaurant and bar menu were available until 9.30pm in the bar. The standard of the food was high. Hotel is very well placed for Manchester airport, and to beak a long journey north, as we were doing. Would be pleased to stay there again

Great for a shorter stay, but if we were staying longer, a pool and gym would have been good to have. We would consider bringing an annual 3 day conference here, but those delegates expect a pool and gym. CCTV in the car park would also be appreciated, plus a poo bin near the house as well as in the car park. Top marks for welcoming dogs though!

Massive room, massive and very comfortable bed, great shower, big bath with lots of hot water, nice soft clean towels, good in room tea/coffee etc., decent TV, great breakfast (hot, good selection, and decent quality. Pastries were lush!). Set in really lovely grounds, nice bar with good beer selection. I ate in the bar and had Cumberland sausage and mash with onion gravy - Very Good, and reasonably priced.

Fridge in room intermittently on/off through night leading to broken sleep. No means of turning it off. Sadly I wouldn’t stay again for that very reason.

The room was spacious and comfortable as was the bed . The Staff were great - there was a mix up with the booking and they hotel gave me a complimentary drink and upgraded me for a breakfast. Great location and the design and decoration of the hotel was excellent . It was a really relaxing stay.

The price for the Room Only was a little steep.

Large clean room. Evening meal was good as was breakfast. Easy plentiful safe parking. Good location for Dunham Massey Hall where we were visiting. Lovely gardens with fountains and a lake.

Staff pleasant but not particularly friendly Only two lamps worked in bedroom when I queried I was told that you had to put them on in a particular order. This was not shown anywhere in the room and lamps still didn’t work. Furniture in room was dated. TV information did not work. Once TV turned off a blue light shone in the room all night. Had to walk through a number of corridors to get to room. This was not shown on booking details and would have been difficult for anybody with mobility issues. Fire alarm went off but when we looked for the instructions on where to meet the frame which should have details had a blank piece of paper in it. This is against all health and safety regulations. View from room was a roof and was disappointing as the outside areas were so beautiful. Although our dinner was nice there was absolutely no green vegetables. When we asked for some we were begrudgingly given four tenderstem broccoli at a cost of £4.95. Bar area was cold with portable heaters which were insufficient. It wasn’t a particularly cold night. For us this hotel was nowhere near 4 star, we stayed in a three star the night before which was far superior in every way and considerably cheaper.

Room was large but was tired and needs a refurb. Although we were made welcome with our dog we had to eat in lounge which was okay for evening. However at breakfast we felt forgotten we had to keep asking for service on both mornings, and the lounge is a walkway for exiting guests. Suggest a dog area in restaurant

The cleanliness of the room need to be a bit more stains and dust on valances and the tv was really thick with dust on the back , bed cover was ripped and the room are freezing if you don’t have a portable heater also the jacuzzi bath when I started to fill had scum coming out of the holes

The bed was very comfortable and the room well decorated. Food was okay.

There was no central heating when I stayed. My room was heated by electric oil-filled heaters, as was the bar area. My bathroom was freezing cold and could only be heated by keeping the door between the bathroom and the bedroom open. I could clearly hear conversation from the bar from my room; and in the morning was woken by the piped music from the bar/restaurant area.
