Being overcharged for breakfast over £400 for seven of us ,then Being accused of not paying, then as a goodwill gesture, the manager said he would believe us that we paid . Daughters room had a leaking roof, had to be moved in the middle of the night, the night before her wedding. And finally wen I got home I discovered i had been changed again for an extra night without my consent and had to wait seven days for a refund.
Comfortable room, good dinner and breakfast, real ale.
Some elements of room and bathroom need attention
Nice comfortable bed and clean
The net had black mold on apart from that room was lovely.
Lovely accommodation with friendly staff.Only stayed 1 night with the quality of the food both at the evening meal & breakfast was excellent.Would highly recommend.
Nothing
All the staff I met were very friendly and personable. Room was a good size as was ensuite, food (evening meal and breakfast, was good) Lots of onsite parking, There also seemed to be a EV charger though I didn't check it out.
Lots of overnight noise
Friendly welcome. Very comfortable bedroom (room 5). Efficient attentive service at reception and in restaurant. Good value set menu offered on a Friday night. Excellent breakfast choice (tho coffee tepid) Quiet location though close to M6. Easy parking. Strongly recommended.
Nothing much.
Lovely staff, very welcoming
The staff are amazing
Rooms need refurbishment. They are grubby. Lick of paint, new carpets, bathrooms needed. All looks tired and grubby.
Great location free parking small Uber ride into Knutsford cheap pricing comfortable clean tidy rooms great breakfast with lovely staff
Nothing, everything was great
Location
No bath
Pheasant was suitable as we were attending a wedding locally. Eat in the pub, food was lovely as was the breakfast.
Furniture in room a little tired. Had an interesting shower and took a while to sort. Just needs a new shower head. Other than that we were happy. Staff allowed usual extra hour to use room to get ready. Thank you for that.
Friendly staff. Large room.
Mattress was too firm for my liking.
Nice grounds, could do with a spruce up inside but overall good, train was handy
Poor view from room
Spacious room
Loud when trying to sleep because of the bar downstairs, room was too hot, took an hour and a half for our meal to come.
Great value . Fab value
Room wasn’t made up as a twin - but quickly sorted. Could do with Air Con
Breakfast was outstanding
Great location, not far from M6. Staff were friendly and professional, nothing too much trouble. Fabulous room with 4 poster bed, great sleep. Lovely restaurant with variety of food and drinks available. Little gem.
Nothing
Location was good, the room spacious and comfortable, breakfast was excellent.
Nothing.
Beautiful location
Friendly welcoming staff, comfortable room and beautiful location
Room was very clean and comfortable - perfect spot for a wedding at a local venue. Breakfast was great - Karen really looked after us and kept us entertained.

Very friendly staff.
Booked a table for 6pm, was told various items on the menu were not available including the Sunday roast beef. Took a while for our food to arrive and was not impressed. The room could do with a refurb looking a bit grubby. Our main problem was aircraft from Manchester Airport flying directly over the premises so didn't sleep well at all. Very disappointed I'm afraid
Staff where excellent. Good was really good. Good choice of drinks.
Matresses and pillows where uncomfortable.
An excellent location for exploring and perfect to get into Knutsford for a day/evening out. Both of our rooms at The Golden Pheasant were fresh, clean, bright and well stocked. We only had a brief one night stay, and didn't eat due to time constraints, but we would love to visit again, particularly to sit outside in the Summer in the beautiful garden and play area. The staff are exceptionally helpful, friendly and welcoming yet professional and efficient. I would have no hesitation in staying again or recommending the Golden Pheasant.
Nothing to complain about, not too fancy but a good, honest inn, great value.
Lovely location, breakfast, good sized room and friendly staff.
Clean and tidy, simple and straight forward with spacious rooms
Great food, good selection of drinks, friendly, helpful staff
Relaxing, friendly, great staff, welcoming

Great welcome, very friendly staff, room was very nice and having a fan during the hit weather was a great touch.
Genuinely friendly staff, lovely clean room and a gorgeous breakfast in the morning. Highly recommended and hopefully we'll be back next year
Location, staff, food
Nothing
The location was nice. Convenient to the wedding we were attending. The ladies who worked on breakfast duty were lovely, friendly and very helpful.
It was TOO HOT! Yes, I realise it's a heatwave and this is an old property. BUT, not only was there no air-con in the rooms, just a small, noisy, portable fan, which did nothing, but move the hot air around. There were no bed sheet options, just a thick, heavy quilt. The windows barely opened, AND the radiator was on in the bathroom. I didn't sleep for the 2 nights there, and the simple act of trying to get dressed for the wedding was a nightmare, due to being so hot and sticky. It was exceptionally uncomfortable.
Staff very accommadating, ate in the restautant great food.
Rooms very dated aware it was oldie worldie. Bed felt small uncomfortable as were the pillows. Got no sleep due to generators (I think) humming all night.
Excellent breakfast. Excellent evening meal where we were joined by family. Everything cooked to perfection. Pleasant ambiance throughout.
Suggest bath mat in bathroom. Suggest coasters for drinks in room. Suggest beer mats downstairs.
Old fashioned pub, really nice staff and people
Rooms are a bit dated and old, but they are ok.
Nice countryside
Tiny double bed, dusty old nets with holes on the windows. The smell from the Sunday lunch permeated everything. The staff were reluctant to let us sit by the widow at breakfast to look out at the lovely garden? It was more about them limiting guests to a few tables to make their shift easier. There were not many for breakfast so I couldn’t understand why they would not seat everyone by the windows to showcase the lovely garden ? We did move but they were not happy !
Very friendly staff who managed to get me a salad when the kitchen had been “closed” for 30mins.
The kitchen closed at 8:15pm. Rather early.
The parking was great. It was easy to arrive, and easy to get to the Manchester airport. It is a great end or start to a trip. The food and pub were outstanding. That made our last night really proper.
Didn't stay for breakfast. Depleted amount of coffee and tea etc in bedroom but sufficient and welcome.
The residential part of the pub has deteriorated since the last time we stayed. Ripped curtains and poorly made drapes combined with scratched furniture and paintwork spoiled the ambience of what was once a very pleasant venue. The bed was uncomfortable as it was so hard! Needs some updating in residential areas.
Breakfast good, staff friendly.
No hand holds in shower. My husband aged 83 fell and became stuck in bath but wonderful Imogen rescued him. A big thank you to her calmness and help.
Great outdoor spaces, lovely setting. Staff very pleasant and attentive.
Some minor maintenance issues in room, like wonky toilet seat in ensuit but very minor.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the manager was extremely obliging - nothing was too much trouble. The food was beautiful and their special two/three course summer special menu was extremely good value. Would highly recommend.
Very convenient location. Food served throughout the day. Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean.
We struggled to sleep. It was hot in the room, even with windows open. If there was a sheet and/or thinner duvet in summer months it might make a difference.
Accommodated an early check in so we could get to a wedding. Room lovely.
Ordered Gluten free breakfast that was whisked away when asked if the black pudding was ok. It returned without the black pudding and sausage leaving one rasher of bacon with the mushrooms tomato and beans. Disappointing I am afraid.
Breakfast was good Couldn't connect to the free WiFi but not a big deal
Very cute pub with comfortable, large rooms, nice countryside views and comfy beds.
A mini fridge in the room would have been incredibly helpful. Door to the bathroom didn't latch closed properly.
Nice traditional Inn. The food was amazing.
The double bed was very small. Creaky floors
Very comfortable bed. Staff were very attentive.
Shower head leaking water.
They took my bag in the morning. Then put it in my room . after i had attended a wedding.

Breakfast was great with accommodating staff
Nice atmosphere and great food
Bathroom extractor fan was loud and needs to be replaced.
Clean tidy friendly

All staff were amazing and so welcoming. We had 2 rooms and were going to a wedding locally - staff took our bags and put them into our rooms for us. Rooms immaculately clean and beautiful very vintage. We had breakfast outside as weather was gorgeous, breakfast was beautiful, additional to the overnight stay but so worth it. Checking in and out so easy.
Nothing - all was absolutely perfect.
The staff were excellent ..they couldn’t do enough for you..
Breakfast was till 9am which is very early after a night at a wedding..haha
Breakfast was exceptional
Dinner was excellent
The staff were so friendly and helpful. Made us feel very very welcome. The bed was really comfortable and the sheets felt very good quality.
The bathroom could do with a refurbishment. The toilet was very low- almost like a child's toilet.
Lovely bar & restaurant.
Bar entrance a bit battered, poor first impression if using that entrance. Minor complaint mind.
Ample car parking, lovely homely bar and restaurant, staff were warm and friendly. Food was great, especially the special offer, beers good 👍 Bedroom had proper quilt and deep pillows, shower was so warm and fierce, just the way I like it. Now a personal one for me is light pollution when you bed down for the night, no issues here as the curtains were excellent.
0730 breakfast caught me out, I like to dine at 0700 and be away for 0730 but that's just a personal thing. Breakfast service was lovely btw.
Well presented hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Ideal location for local train station (to Chester and Manchester) being a five minute walk. Trains to Chester are hourly but were prompt and on time. Once at Chester a local bus will take you to the city centre for exploring - highly recommend the Cathedral. Food was excellent and served in a timely manner and room was good (only minor issue was the duvet was quite heavy). Would have no problems recommending this place. Ideally located for both National Trust and RHS properties.
Apart from the heavy duvet there is nothing else I could fault.
Everything!
The early breakfast finish, it finished at 9pm, as we were on holiday we would have preferred it to be until 10am
Charlie was very nice.
Dark pokey room, extremely uncomfortable bed, ripped net curtain (!) very hot, kept fan on all day/night. No extra lock on inside door. Fail to understand why this property is a 4 star.
Great food
Room needed attention and mattress needs throwing out. Worst night sleep I’ve had in a long time.
Location and friendly staff
Position of room
The staff are excellent. Very approachable, friendly and helpful. The food is great- lovely sharing plate followed by prawn nicoise and chicken with asparagus. Delicious eggs Benedict for breakfast.
The bedrooms are tired and in need of a makeover. You can do better than that JW as we have experienced elsewhere. Your excellent staff and your customers deserve better.
The location was good. It was booked to accomadate a wedding we were attending nearby at the Merrydale manor.
We were awoken abruptly by work men banging and drilling outside our room window at 8.45am. This was booked last year and we were not informed of work being completed during our stay or any consideration to us.
Quick attentive check-in. Pleasant reasonably spacious room with some attractive antique furniture. Dinner was well presented and frankly well above expectation for a simple country pub.
No particular negatives.
The warm welcome
The bedroom furniture and bathroom could do with a refurb
All was fabulous especially Karen
Didn’t have breakfast as at a wedding so late night but did get told about it thank you
Lovely comfort just quite a few cob webs around the ceilings that should have been hoovered previous to our stay
Staff were good, got a couple of dirty cups at breakfast which were changed. Dinner in the evening was excellent!. Breakfast average.
Nothing
Location. Good breakfast
Able to hear TV in adjoining room Bathroom radiator difficult to regulate heating
Staff, location and food excellent Lovely big bright, clean room
Think bed/mattress had seen better days!
Staff very friendly, rooms nice
Price fixe menu, portions very small. Rooms nice, but needs tlc
Nice looking property in a very nice location. The restaurant food was excellent both in the evening and for breakfast. The staff were very friendly throughout the stay.
The room and surrounding areas were a little tired and could do with touching up a bit.
Welcoming staff, nice room with a beautiful view. Dinner was Prix Fixe with 3 courses for under £20 and delicious. Breakfast of eggs Royale excellent too.
Nothing.
Friendly staff, good food, large room, convenient location.
The decor in the room and bathroom were a little tired. There was noise from the kitchen extractor fan up until they stopped serving.
Most things … friendly relaxed
I considered the catering below par. Evening meal was good however much of the menu seemed unavailable. Breakfast a disappointment with old or tough muffins. Perhaps we were a one off ?
Room, breakfeast, dinner were all good. Staff were very friendly and overall it was a good venue. Would recommend.
Nice room, good water pressure and food was great in the bar
Shower head was stuck on sharp jet of water. There were some bits of shaved beard hair on the sink
Location
Rooms are tired, squeaky floors, water for bath not v hot
The staff were excellent . The food was also very good.
Staff excellent, large room

Mostly good food. Close to station and for visiting a friend. Friendly staff.
Poorly lit bedroom. Grubby net curtain. Dust on lots of surfaces in the bedroom. View of rubbish and broken bits and pieces as you approach residents entrance.h
Cosy feel, nice staff good food, good value.
Nothing to dislike
The friendliness of the staff
Comfortable room, pleasant staff
Bathroom a bit dated
