The staff were friendly & helpful. The location (central) was convenient - plenty of parking, shops nearby. I had two nice evening meals and two Nice breakfasts.

The room was quite basic, small: the decor was shabby and old fashioned - stained carpet, chipped paint etc

Understaffed with long waits for dinner. Staff member working was doing his best though. Menu dated with scant vegetables or healthy options

Friendly helpful staff, food in the restaurant was very good, bar has an incredible whisky collection.

Rooms could use an update/refresh

We liked the breakfast format. Very good. The Hotel is a bit tired but similar to most in the Highlands.

If you want the Ritz or the Savoy, don't come here. But if you want to experience old world Scottish charm and go back in time then this is the hotel for you. It's old and perhaps in need of a bit of repair but it is clean and warm. The beds are comfortable and the food is plentiful. The tea, coffee and custard cream biscuits in the room are plentiful. The staff are polite, helpful, hardworking and attentive. My partner and I really enjoyed our stay. It is a very unique place.

The music of Neil Sedaka drove me a bit mad during dinner and breakfast!

Room was tiny and not worth half what I paid for it. The others in my party got big rooms with double beds for the same price.

The breakfast were excellent, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was fantastic.

Breakfast was a good spread and it was complimentary every.morning. It's good enough that the locals eat there too.

There's no lift/elevator because it's a historic building so if your luggage weighs a ton you'll be lugging it upstairs under your own power. Not really a complaint but it's something to know.

Location was great. The chap at reception who seemed to be a jack of all trades was so nice.

The staff, I could not have asked for a more welcoming and friendly reception. The chap running the hotel seemed to do everything for everyone but he was so efficient hand friendly. The place is a bit old, but full of character.

The management and staff were super friendly and helpful. My room was The King Suite which looked out over the famous clocktower as well as the small High Street, The four poster bed was very comfortable and the room very spacious with high ceilings and ornate corniches. Good value for money in an excellent location.

It's hard to match" boutique "standards and yes a few rough edges , but they do not matter to me , the room was Agatha Christie brilliant and the management excellent.

The hotel and room come across as rather dated and in certain aspects could do with updating such as TV, the bathroom fixtures felt as though they were on the verge of breaking as I had to put the towel rack back on the wall mounts myself and the sink was rather loose and the light in the shower didn't work.

Die Lage war zentral und der Parkplatz gleich daneben. Bett war für mich ok und es war alles sauber. Das Frühstück (samt Auswahl) war hervorragend und der Rezeptionist war sehr freundlich. Kein Lift daher nicht barrierefrei. Das Hotel ist schon älter und dürfte viel von Arbeitern genutzt werden. Im Großen und Ganzen war es bei uns nur 1 Nacht und in Ordnung.

Der Handtuchwärmer im Bad (Heizkörper) war oben locker - das sollte unbedingt fixiert werden, die Handtuchhalter an der Wand waren ebenfalls nicht festgezogen. Ich bin mir sicher, dass Laminatboden im Bad nicht die Beste Wahl ist. Das Licht direkt über dem Spiegel im Bad hat nicht funktioniert. Den Fernseher konnten wir zwar einschalten allerdings hatte der kein Signal.

The breakfast was super, the chef prepared the breakfast based on our order, and it was very tasty. The rooms were very spacisous and nice. Please note that all the rooms are different types, so facilities in one room may not be same as other.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a wonderful breakfast. My daughter had a four-poster bed in her wonderful room which she loved.

After booking 3 double rooms 2 months before our trip we were told on arrival that there had been “a problem with booking.com and all they had was single rooms. We were offered a drink at the bar as compensation but would have rather had a bed I could fit in. The room was like something from faulty towers. The window was propped open with half a chair leg and the door looked like it had recently been kicked in by a previous guest. The inspection sticker on the towel rail said it was last inspected in 2017 so not sure how safe the hotel really is.

Lovely old hotel in a great location with a really good breakfast.

The receptionist / barman / breakfast waiter was very polite but kept talking to someone else through an earpiece in between interactions - not very professional and doesn’t give a good impression. Also the bathroom extractor fan was broken and making a loud buzzing sound whenever the bathroom light was switched on. The hotel was very dated and although we liked the character, it really needs a refresh.

The rooms were very dated but the wall paper was hanging off the walls and badly patched up. The curtains didn't even fit the window - too thin. There was a broken section of glass out of the bedroom window that had not been seen to.

Host 10/10 He was welcoming, attentive, professional, Meals 10/10 breakfast was ample, varied, hot. Evening meals were well presented and good sized portions. Only down side was a limited menu as we stayed for a few nights

Welcome folder had a laminate Hotel information sheet, which often referred to dial 0 for reception assistant, however there was no phone within the Boardroom Suite Fire alarm weekly test planned for a Tuesday morning at 9.30am never happened then The whole Hotel is dated and past the tired look to a more exhausted look. This is outwith our hosts and daily cleaners remit, as they are trying their best to keep positive to work within the conditions given by the owner/management, who responsibilities lie to ensure customers re-book

No effort is being made with maintenance - the hotel is just ticking over and is in dire need of a handy man to be perfoming repairs and maintaining the place - stained mastic, wallpaper hanging off, damaged furniture, faulty door locks - just open your eyes and put some effort in

The room had black mould on the ceiling, peeling wallpaper and the bathroom was covered in bugs. None of the TVs worked and it was hard to find people to ask for anything. The evening meal was very disappointing as the food was swimming in grease.

The hotel was generally looking a bit tired and in need of decoration. Perfectly clean but it certainly needed a refresh. Difficult to find anyone to serve at the bar/restaurant or available at the reception.

Parking is a bit public, not secure. In general the hotel is in need of a full refurbish and updating.

What a great place to stay fantastic service fantastic host, the breakfast was to die for I was walking from John o Groats to lands end. So this hotel was an exactly the right place at the right time thank you.

This hotel is exactly what I expected to be. Not five star, but clean tidy with a very comfortable bed and a great bath. There was nothing I didn’t like about this Property.

It has a touch of Victorian faded glamour. It’s well kept, clean and warm to the eye. The staff were first class, attentive and courteous and very helpful. Could not have asked for more. Our room was clean, well supplied with fresh towels and was comfortable. It offers the best breakfast of our week in Scotland.

Im gesamten ein sehr runter gekommenes Hotel, alles aus den 70er Jahren, Bad, Zimmer alles runter gekommen. Wir haben uns nicht wohl gefühlt vorallem ist der Preis für die Nacht unverschämt. Das Frühstück nicht vertretbar.

Lovely man on duty at reception, he was also working in the bar and restaurant, so friendly and polite. Comfortable clean room, but the restaurant was the highlight, excellent food and wine. A great place to stay.

The hotel is in a great location and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfasts were very nice and it has onsite free parking which is a bonus.

Although this is a lovely old building it is in need of a refurb and some repairs. Our room (24) felt a bit cold and damp and wallpaper was peeling off in places with some black mould above the shower in the bathroom. The bedroom curtains also didn’t meet in the middle but thankfully there was a blind as well. We struggled to get the tv to work but overall had a fairly comfortable stay
