Provider-sourced guest reviews.
We were made to feel very welcome with a super team at The Fenwick. The room was excellent and the food was superb.
A hand rail to assist getting in and out of the bath for a shower would be a big plus.
The room was well appointed but do avoid rooms 1 and 9 as there is a table outside where smokers may sit (which they did on our arrival) so opening the window lets smoke and noise in.
Road noise in the morning but not too bad.
The food was excellent. It very much exceeded my expectations.
The 16 steps up to get to the room. An elevator would have been nice. The room was really nice.
Room was clean and well equipped if a little small. Dinner was excellent
No breakfast
The room was very good, plenty of tea coffee comfy bed and the shower was brilliant, will definitely stay again.
Nothing really.
Fabulous hotel, rooms are beautiful, very spacious bathroom and shower which was very clean. Staff were extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Food was all freshly cooked and served hot and beautifully presented.
Nothing!
Clean, comfortable room
Expensive breakfast but very tasty scrambled eggs
Thus was a fabulous place to stay. Very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and spacious. Would highly recommend it. The mini fridge was a great bonus and very handy to have.
Location
Amazing host, so accommodating, friendly, brilliant!

The bathroom was very nice and clean. It was modern and the shower was excellent.
Bit of an honest review of the experience of staying at the Fenwick hotel. Firstly, the room itself was a lot smaller than I'd expect for £120 a night. Outside the hotel was scruffy and unkempt, with building materials left around and they've been there a while because weeds were growing out of it. The room had a very little window and the only way to get some cool air was to open the bathroom window and hope a bit of wind came through. Unfortunately, the road outside had traffic down it all night long which kept me awake. There was no one to had the key into when checking out at 9.30am and no way of going for anything to eat as the place was deserted, and this on a bank holiday Monday. By far the worst thing was the human waste and tissue that was 6 feet from the entrance to the pub restaurant. This also could not be reported as like I say the place was deserted. Any owner of a restaurant and hotel must surely do a walk around of the property to make sure everything is ok. I believe the owner is a young girl of 25 years old and maybe the inexperience of doing such a high pressure job is too much. I really don't get off on being nasty and leaving negative reviews but I think for what we were charged for a room this was unacceptable.
Katie and the team were excellent in accomodating our large group booking and dietary needs. Perfect relaxing venue for our pre wedding day stay and the location was only a short drive from Wennington Hall. Would highly recomend.
No cooked breakfast from monday to thursday. However, a cold breakfast bag could have been ordered although we opted to take our own.
We had a great stay at The Fenwick. Great bedroom with large bathroom. Evening meal was excellent. Locally sourced ingredients. The new owners take great pride providing great customer service in a very comfortable setting. Great location if you are attending a wedding at Wennington Hall.
Clean
Nothing it was nice
Lovely staff and food served in the restaurant, although a limited selection available from the menu. We arrived getting on to the kitchen closing but Katie made sure we could order which we were grateful for.
It was a pity they don’t do breakfast in the week , Katie did give us some milk and cereal to compensate.
Very clean and comfortable room, now with a fridge.
Dogs barking in room 6 at 12.20 am. Continued for 10 minutes until owner returned.
It’s was very comfortable, clean and cosy
We paid for breakfast and we were told that due to it changing management there wasn’t doing breakfast so we got a piece of fruit, a dry quassoint, and a kids box of coco pops with no milk
Everything
Very clean good parking facilities. Nicely decorated and furnished and could see new owners who had recently taken over were updating as well
Downstairs accommodation was very overlooked by people sitting at the outside tables.
Staff lovely. Accom clean, comfortable lots of attention to details like a fridge in the room with water. Lots of variety of teas n coffee etc. lovely towels. Big bathrooms. Food was exception. All fresh cooked.
Nothing
Well presented room, clean with amenities as described, perfect for a couple of nights stay
The room was very warm and the fan provided really didn't do anything, the window opened so it wasn't too bad but I would have hated to been staying when the temperatures were hotter
Great location, good sized room and nice food and selection of drinks in the restaurant. Handy location for Kirkby Lonsdale and Wennington.
A little noisy with the road noise but thankfully the road got quieter later on. Can be noisy when wagons go past. Maybe slightly later food service times for guests would be better.
Room was lovely! Accomodating staff
Exceptionally clean throughout, lots of little extras in the room and a fantastic power shower. Staff and owners were so polite and friendly, customer service was exceptional. Cooked to order breakfast was delicious and great value.
Nothing not to like!
Excellent stay, rooms very clean and well thought out. Lovely restaurant. Staff were amazing and so friendly and welcoming.
Nothing
Staff were very helpful. Thanks Niamh and Katy. Good food. Comfortable bed.
Access was via external stairs but Niamh carried our luggage! No access until check in. We would have happily bought drinks and waited until check in time but we had to wait in the car park.
We arrived early as we was attending a wedding nearby, property was shut but after speaking to a staff member to ask if we could leave the car parked there they checked to see if room was ready and was able to let us in which was great, the staff member was very helpful and so polite. Couldn't comment on the breakfast as we left early to travel on to the lake district. Would definitely stay again !! 😊
Nothing !!
Ideal location just off the M6 for either a stopover or for a base for sight seeing or getting out and about visiting the multitude of local attractions.
It is situated on a main road and the rumble of heavy vehicles over night was a slight distraction however its rustic charm and ease of access was a positive.
Staff were welcoming. Room was comfortable, clean and tidy.
No complaints from us.
Unfortunately the morning breakfast was totally disorganised, only toast for vegetarians . Only eggs available for the first 5 people. The host was extremely rude, saying we would have to move rooms if the next customer needed a downstairs room & if we didn’t like it tough, go somewhere else!
Stayed before for work so location is handy, decent breakfast.
Service in the bar was terrible for dinner. Waited half and hour for drink order, food took a while and the steak was overcooked. They did replace it in about 20 min but even then it wasn't cooked to my liking. Poor girl serving was running around trying to keep everyone happy so not her fault. The room was noisy because the window didn't shut properly and couldnt get the TV to work as there was something wrong with the remote, probably needed new batteries. so not great overall. For £130 per night for B&B you expect better.
Being able to get dinner on the premises, and breakfast was very good.
No internal access to the bedrooms was a bit odd, though didn't really detract.
Clean and tidy
No air conditioning. Staff brought a fan to room whilst they prepared it then removed it afterwards
We were unaware that access to our room was outside and unfortunately the weather was very bad and made the staircase very slippery. I did mention to the owner my reservations about the stairs and as I use a stick( I am in my 80’s it was not suitable for me. The owner was new to the premises and was very understanding. The room we had although a little small was warm and cosy so no complaints about that.
Very friendly staff, value for money.
Travelling back from holiday and wanted to take a break and look around the area. Really ideal for this
Room a little warm
Very comfortable
Breakfast service was abysmal
Perfect stop over on way for a motorcycling trip to Scotland. Rooms are up the stairs round the back and very nice. Food was excellent.
both spot on
Nothing actually. Considering the new owners had only been there a week they had made excellent progress. They were excellent hosts , very accommodateing and made us welcome
Very comfortable room and great bath/shower
Not much really
The woman at check in was rude. To the point we felt uncomfortable. I asked about the check in process and she was so nasty to me. Avoid and find a different hotel just to avoid her. Incredibly ignorant.
The manager / woman at reception
Friendly welcome, great owners and lovely room and food
Lovely rooms, great breakfast, staff v helpful
Very friendly staff and excellent food and accommodation will definitely use again
Loved our stay at this cute little pub. Lovely room and great meal.
The location to Wennington Hall was great and it had everything we needed in the room.
It was an extremely hot room, and we did use the fan. I booked in months ago with the information about my food allergies and they didn’t accommodate that well. I was promised soya milk in the room and it never turned up. There was no df spread. There was gf sausages though. It was just disorganised.
Lovely room and extremely helpful staff.
Nothing.
Friendly staff, comfortable room , apart from no AC
Had to drive for any walks etc
The staff were excellent and the food great
It needed a little tlc to certain parts of the property
Everything it was absolutely perfect. Fantastic
Nothing everything was excellent
The room was lovely and the host was very friendly and the food was excellent

Lovely bathroom and good shower.
The bed was small. The room was small. There was no indication the room was outside of the main building up outdoor stairs. The window looked out on to the walkway where other guests walked past. There were no Orla Keily products as advertised. It was very overpriced for a basic room.
Everything at the Fenwick was great for our one night stopover before sailing from Heysham... Lovely rooms, cosy country pub atmosphere, food was excellent, with breakfast being the same, for breakfast, just ask for whatever you would like, and it's all freshly cooked... A1+
The exterior needs a tidy, but, don't judge this little gem of a place by it's cover 👍 and some background noise in the pub would be a nice addition
Heather was excellent
Continental breakfast good. Boiled egg. Not really too much more available as we could see, but in fairness we did not ask. This did not matter to us as we are light eaters, especially at breakfast time.
Happy with everything.
Lovely room clean and comfortable plus great shower. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Bar restaurant and food fab too. Lovely stay for a wedding near Wennington Hall and not far from Lancaster plus bus stop outside to get to Lancaster if needed.
How accommodating the hotel were and assisted with queries swiftly and helpfully.
Bed was comfortable and shower was good My partner enjoyed the food
My pillow cases had a smell of chip fat not sure if laundry had been near kitchen at some point but they were clean. Tried to charge us for another guests bill on check out luckily we had paid night before so realised this wasn't ours
Comfortable room, lovely shower and fluffy towels . Enjoyed good evening meal.
Very friendly staff. Excellent dinner - the Fenwick Pie was superb!
The rooms are clean, modern and beautifully decorated. The en-suite bathrooms are clean and modern. The food is delicious and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Heather and her team get a 10/10 from us.
There was nothing I didn’t like about the property. There are stairs to some of the rooms which might be tricky for someone who struggles with mobility but there is a downstairs room available.
Location - v peaceful area.
Outside stairs up to the room, open to the elements! Room was v nice but small, therefore became quite hot even with radiator turned down.
Staff exceptional, welcoming, helpful & Friendly, rooms quality throughout, comfy beds & warm.
Excellent
Superb
Clean tidy tooms
Clean, well decorated room with very good en-suite shower room - bed very comfortable. Breakfast, although not included in the price, was also very good
On side of a main road, but windows were well doubled glazed and road only busy at certain times. The exterior of the building does not reflect the higher standard of the interior.
It’s was a perfect location for us. The room was lovely.
Bed was very comfortable and host was very kind and accommodating. Large room with great facilities with tea and coffee.
Shower drain was slightly blocked but only a minor point to note.
Lovely lady who looked after us extremely well.
Was a bit difficult to find.
Clean, warm & comfortable bed
Having to leave.
The property was nice and warm. Very good room with good and easy-to-operate shower. One of the party had mobility issues and was accomnodated in an accessible room.
We had not notified the property in advance that one of our party needed a dairy-free vegetarian breakfast (lesson learned). The one-off breakfast cost was consequently quite large for what was available for her (the actual cost of the breakfast is not a problem and the items had by the rest of the party were delicious).
Rooms were homely, the bed was comfortable! Very welcoming and friendly!

The caring and helpful hardworking staff from Heather to the cleaner all excellent great location food value for money and a lovely place to stay
Nothing all great

It was convenient for my stay, was clean and had good facilities
Could have done with some airing, but I was there in bad weather
Bookings.com didn't allow us to order breakfast.

The area
No breakfast.chef called off. Waited an hour for evening meals order to come.
Room, although small.
Wasn't made to feel particularly welcome on arrival. A smile would help!
Helpful staff .Clean and comfortable.
Good location & comfortable room
Friendly family team, nice rooms, great food. As a place to stay during business or as a recreational getaway - would highly recommend.
