Beautiful historic home just a short walk to downtown. Comfy room. Great continental breakfast.
Great location to walk around the city. Room was clean and met expectations. Easy process to check in.
I thought it was going to be more like a bed and breakfast with a local staff/owner to chat with at breakfast time.
Tout
The location is near parks and sites as well as being walking distance to many other sites. The on-street parking was not an issue in finding a spot to park. St. John's is a wonderful place to visit.
It's possible we missed this during booking, but the on-street parking requires a daily parking pass at a $5.00 fee if you're leaving your car there for over 2 hours. They request you remove your shoes at the door which is not an issue, they should have cubbies at the door for each room rather than open under the sitting benches. Aside from being easier to find shoes, in my case I changed shoes which led me to forget my running shoes there.
Location Friendly owner. Nice breakfast.
Bottom room was really warm.
For a cold breakfast it was very nice, lovely pastries.
The one thing that was not good was the bed. The mattress was so hard we couldn’t sleep most of the night, I was stiff and sore in the morning. This one thing made the experience not great. Loved the manor and everything else. We were thankful we only paid for one night.
The breakfast was a lovely continental breakfast with fresh baking, fruit and excellent coffee. The large table was a good opportunity to speak with other guests
Location, service and comfort were excellent.
Access to bathroom was odd.
Nice, quiet, was able to use communal Refrigerator to store my medication, and groceries.
Nothing, everything was good.
dining room and leisure room on the first floor; location convenience
a little noisy for the AC and vent.
It was a classic home and the history was amazing. The various common areas were beautiful and inviting
Not knowing about the fire escape went through part of the room.
Jennifer and the entire staff at Rendell Shea Manor were all amazing and so friendly. The home is very welcoming and comfortable and there is plenty for the self-serve breakfast to start your day. Perfect stay. Fabulous, spotless place. Wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for a memorable time in St. John's!
Gorgeous Staff and owner very friendly and helpful
Didn’t like the TV movie options
Gorgeous house which felt very authentic and full of character (whilst also being very comfortable!). Very relaxed feel so we were able to stay after check out before our flight and play some of the games. Location is very central.
The breakfast was excellent and so is the location!
We were extremely pleased with everything.
Location was excellent, staff very friendly and the place was very clean
The breakfast could have been better, there was only one half slice of bread in container.
Everything is perfect. The location is great and close to everything in St John. The communication was great before and along our stay. The self check in was super easy. The property is very tastefully furnished and renovated. I love the wooden floor especially. We enjoyed very much the warm welcome by Jennifer. The light breakfast is perfect start in the day. As said in the beginning everything was perfect and we look forward to come back.
The breakfast was enough to start your day and convenient . The location was perfect. I especially liked the historical nature of the house. The host was ridiculously nice and helpful. Very patient and understanding.
There was a floorboard in the Signal room that could use repair. It is between the foot of the bed and the wall. It is cracked and moves a bit when you step on it.
Location
squeaky floor
Location was awesome. Room was lovely. Breakfast was great. Loved the “sun” room with the books and games. Ate breakfast there.
Very centrally located and had the old St John’s feel to it. Quiet, comfortable room. My wife and I really enjoyed chatting with Jennifer and she gave us good advice.
The period property is beautifully decorated and furnished with a rich history and photos which reflect its past - it is a lucky house which is well cared for by the current owners. The owner, Jennifer is warm and welcoming and very proud of the house.
We loved everything about our stay and had nothing that we didn’t like.
We loved the space, character of the home, and the light breakfast offerings.
Vintage style, clean, morning pastries were delicious / plus fresh fruit and coffee / tea available
The location was perfect. An easy walk down to the harbour and it was across the road from the Hop On Hop Off stop. The owner and manager could not have been more welcoming and helpful.
Beautiful old house, sympathetically restored. Walking distance to Water and George Streets for food and drink. On-street parking wasn’t hard to find nearby. Breakfast was laid out the evening before, which we appreciated when we had to leave early to catch a flight. Good wifi. Self check-in instructions were clear.
Not a complaint just an observation: these old houses don’t do well in cooling down on hot days. An in-window air conditioner was running when we arrived which helped take the edge off of our third floor room. But it was noisy at night. And with the air conditioner in the window, there was no option to open the window and let in cool night air.
Breakfast was great- fresh baked goods, great coffee and tea. Beautiful dining room.
Nothing, everything was perfect!
Proximité du centre-ville en marchant.
Excellent location. Beautiful manor. Good communication from owners.
Air conditioner was very loud. We turned it off over night but if it had been a very hot night, it might have been hard to sleep with noise.
Lovely place. Easy communication. There's no staff on-site but the online communication was working perfectly and the person on the other side seems very nice. The dinning room area and all the snacks were a cute surprise. I was impressed with everything they thought you may need or want in the morning. We'll done. I liked the details, like the building's history book and photographs. It is a bit pricey but to be fair Everywhere in St. JOHN'S is, and this was one of the cheaper options available at the time.
Nothing to complain about
Very attentive staff. Great breakfast. Lovely and comfortable common areas.
Location was great. Loved being in a historic house. Room was comfortable with plenty of room.
Hosts are not on site and breakfast is self serve, so we missed the friendly feel that comes from talking to people over breakfast.
Historic feel of the room and building
On a quiet street but very close walking to the main downtown strip!
Everything. Pictures don’t do justice at all. Great staff (Chelsea -shout out!), Great location downtown. My first time staying at a Manor and it exceeded my expectations! Thank you for your hospitality
Just trash bins in the room please or make it optional? Thanks :)
Excellent location for our plans, beautiful home, well managed.
Wasn't aware of the parking restrictions. Bought a pass to avoid issues.
Good continental style breakfast. Tastefully decorated, quiet location, and very comfortable.
We struggled making the Bodum style coffee in the morning because there were no instructions and no staff member available to ask questions. And unfortunately, that was the only disappointing thing about this accommodation. There was no staff member there at any time….either to greet us….to show us our room…. or to tell us how to make the perfect cup of bodum style coffee. One of the things we heard that was so wonderful about Newfoundland was the people. But unfortunately, staying at this accommodation we weren’t even able to meet or talk to “the people”.
The mansion has a long and interesting history. We loved the location, the staff, the comfortable room and common areas, the freshly made daily pastries and the ambiance.
We loved it all!
Beautiful room and spacious bathroom-lovely style
Just needed a trash can in the bedroom
The breakfast was very good, offer luggage temporarily stored, the staff were very nice
None
Second stay at this location. Love the location. The house is clean and well organized. Appreciate the continental breakfast with the fresh baked goodies.
The light breakfast was more than I expected. Fresh homemade scones were the best!! Loved our room and location and the manager was very attentive.
We wish there was a small fridge in room for wine, snacks.
Beautiful home, cosy room, super communicative staff, great continental breakfast, easy walk into town for dinners. Loved it!
The baked goods were lovely! Good to also have the fruit and coffee.
Nothing
The staff were lovely. We had everything we needed. Breakfast scones were amazing. Nice central location. Thank you so much!
All good
The building and room were historic and well maintained. Close to downtown as well as the park.
Beautiful historic house. Wonderful staff who were eager for feedback. Excellent breakfast and they even had gluten free items available.
Absolutely fantastic. Beautiful manor, great room and excellent staff.
The location was great. With in walking distance of Water street and the restaurants and attractions. Quaint, clean and well supplied.
L'atmosphère paisible, la beauté de la maison, décorée avec goût. La gentillesse de Jennifer et de sa maman qui prépare de délicieux petits gâteaux pour le petit déjeuner.
Location was excellent as you could walk to downtown quite easily. Accommodations were clean and comfortable with a continental breakfast which included bagels, muffins, scones, yogurt, cheeses, various fruits, spreads, coffee and tea. Owners responded promptly to any questions or concerns.
No negatives.
The age & history behind it & host was very accommodating. ☺️
Not used to parking on a steep hill!
Excellent location and bed. Continental breakfast was good and facilitated meeting other travelers.
Stairs
AWESOME!!EVERYTHING!!
Nothing.
Its originality. Beautiful from another time. The attention to every little detail.
This is an amazing old home. Really loved the architecture. There were a few small glitches but Jennifer was excellent at communicating and everything was sorted out quickly!! Chelsey was very helpful as well.
La situation
Les câbles un peu partout et le très léger petit déjeuner
Breakfast was adequate.
We were both very pleased with our accommodations.
The Rendell Shea Manor is an absolutely beautiful house with lots of history. Many choices of tea and coffee are available in the dining area with lots of fun pastries. We stayed in the Cape Spear room, and it was delightful! Great view and memory foam mattress. The staff were absolutely delightful and very accommodating. It was a very easy check-in process, and the owners were very prompt and responsive.
The floors are creaky at night, but it's an older house, so that should be expected. The house isn't accessible for those with disabilities, but yet again, it's an older house and should be expected.
The house, room and location were all fantastic. Enjoyed our stay and conversations with other guests.
Very cute little spot with a lot of history! The owner was incredibly helpful
Great experience
All good!
Its a beautiful building and a very comfy bed. Check in was smooth, and breakfast was a lovely array of pastries and fruit. Would recommend.
Owners were very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. Self entry was easy. Convenient parking on street in front of house. Walking distance to downtown St. John’s .
My one big complaint is that electrical outlets are not in convenient locations. Travellers rely on their phones to be alarm clocks and for gps.I had to plug my phone in the bathroom and then couldn’t sleep because I thought I would miss the alarm. You should at least have extension cords running from the outlets that are in impossible to reach locations i.e. behind heavy furniture.
Great location, well kept, stylish and very clean.
Could have had a better selection
Great pastries/ fresh fruit and selection of teas/coffee
Everyone I encountered had issues getting the kettle to boil
Friendly hosts, beautiful home, great location! Would definitely stay here again.
It is an 18th century home
The washroom had not been cleaned from last guest the sink had toothpaste spit all over it asked the staff who was there if it could be cleaned but she did not do it and did not see any other staff after that
Great location, staff is nice and friendly. beautifully restored Victorian-era heritage home. The manor is elegant and historic charm in every corner. Love it.
Good location for being near diwntown but nit in the bar zone
Room was about 32C when I entered. Fortunatelt the window could open.
Location , comfort .

The Manor is beautifully preserved, very clean and well located.
L’accueil chaleureux La flexibilité des heures d’arrivée Le matériel de cuisine fourni (eau, thé, café, bouilloire, vaisselle) La tranquillité La possibilité de laisser un sac pour qques jours en attendant mon retour
Rien du tout
Good location with easy walk to many restaurants. Spacious room. Quiet and comfortable. Nice friendly vibe both staff and guests. Tasty homemade items included in the breakfast. Parking in the street was easy with plenty of space.
