So convenient to downtown - all walking distance. The breakfast was excellent. The host is charming and it was a delight to listen to his stories!
Didn't like having to share a bathroom, but only two of the rooms have to share it so it wasn't too bad. We knew we were going to be sharing but had booked at the last minute so were more than happy to have a place to stay that was so convenient.
Close to walk up Signal Hill, easy to get street parking, within 15 minute walk of The Rooms and downtown restaurants and bars, friendly atmosphere amongst the guests, and very friendly, entertaining, and helpful host.
Nothing
L’hospitalité du propriétaire ! La terrasse est un bel atout pour profiter de l’extérieur pour prendre apéro ou jaser. Nous avons marché, car tout est à distance .
The property was centrally located for exploring St. John’s. The park across the street was wonderful for a late evening stroll. Breakfast had all that you could want for a good start to the day and there was always a friendly staff member to greet you in the morning.
Admittedly, it was quite hot while we were visiting, which I’m sure is not normal, but our room the first night was sweltering. We did appreciate the fan delivery for night 2!
I had a few questions for the owners and they were very patient with me - even though the questions were already answered in emails and materials in the room - I was tired from travelling and they were very gracious. Location was wonderful and the house was very pretty.
Plug in bathroom too close to mirror so we could not put in a night light. The step up into the bathroom cause a few issues at night so nightlight would be helpful.
Sorgfältig gepflegtes historisches Guesthouse mit wunderschönen Garten
I like everything about this property including the location, the standard of my room was exceptional, the bed was so comfy and such soft sheets. The guest house was beautiful with a super outdoor area to sit and relax in, and it was within walking distance of cafes, shops, downtown St John’s and with in walking distance of the sights I wanted to see such as Signal Hill. I liked the host Rob, who could not do enough to make my stay enjoyable. As a solo traveller I felt safe. There are several flights of stairs, I was on the top floor. There is a ground floor room so if you have mobility issues might be worth mentioning that. I noticed there is free parking across Military Rd if you are driving. The property is on a hill. There are various bus services available and I thought the taxi fares to and from the Airport were reasonable.
There was nothing I didn’t like about this guest house, I loved it and felt extremely safe. Which was important. The location was excellent.
Nice old house in a great location.
The location was great, garden was lovely and there was a comfortable living room and kitchen with a large deck. Rob is very friendly and happy to answer any questions. Rob was responsive to a couple of issues I came across and promised things would be taken care of on my next visit.
Nicely kept and fit into the Newfoundland vibe. Location was so close to the centre city action. Walking distance
Nothing
Location , everything is in order and cleanliness.
The bathroom is a little bit small. But it works for us as we are not that big of a people. I hope they can plan for a pack breakfast especially for guests who may leave early. They told us to get from the fridge but too shy and I don’t want a cold croissant 🙂 we only got 3 babel cheese. I didn’t find any disposable cups to pack a coffee at least . I should have asked I guess the night before. Anyway, all good.
Great location, clean, beautiful back yard. Good variety for breakfast.
Small bathroom but understandable with the design of home.
The breakfast was simple, but tasty and there were several options. The young lady who was running the breakfast (Claudia?) was delightful and helpful, had lots of good suggestions and recommendations for our time in the city. The house is very nice, colourful and well decorated.
If I had one complaint? The house is so very colourful, right in the bright and colourful downtown area, but the room was white and colourless. I'd love to see a colour theme in the rooms to match!
Lovely self service breakfast. And quirky decor and good location
Couldn’t open the windows in the top floor room so got hot and stuffy
Robert et Mia
3e étage un peu chaud mais corrigé immédiatement avec une fan.
Breakfast was basic and sufficient with options of juices, coffee, tea, boiled eggs, cheese packets, baked goods, yogurts, cereals and fruits. The location offers an outdoor deck and garden for guests to enjoy.
We would have liked to know that our room was located on the third floor of this historic building (Petty Harbour room). The request for mobility issues came only a day or so before we left for our trip. At that point it was too late to change accommodation. The floors and drapes in our room were not clean and the windows need attention to open easily. There is no air conditioning so you need to open your window to get air and keep outdoor noise out. For those who have problems with steps, the washroom in the room has a step up for entry and the toilet is too close to a slanted dormer wall where you can easily hit your head when rising from the toilet.
Breakfast was great, staff were friendly and helpful. Loved that most things were within walking distance
Room became very warm, the fan helped a little bit
Room was hot on 3rd floor, making sleeping uncomfortable. Room small. Difficult to get parking. Room faced street and was loud for sleeping.
Location is fabulous. Easy walk to The Rooms and to anywhere in the downtown area. The house itself is beautiful with tons of character and a lovely kitchen for your breakfast. Claudia, young woman who helps with breakfast is wonderful. Breakfast is plentiful with a good selection of coffees and tea, as well as fresh fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, and bread.
Be advised there is no bathroom on the second floor. Unless you have a bathroom in your suite you will need to go up to the third floor to share the common bathroom. Also, there is no common bathroom on first floor while you are having breakfast, etc..
People, location, cleanliness, comfortable bed
Property was within walking distance to museum and downtown. Parking was no problem. The manor is a beautiful older historic building with Lovely rooms and very comfortable.

Excellent location, very comfortable and well managed.
Breakfast could have been a bit more varied.
Location only. but that's also not the best. Note it's uphill!!
• PRICE VS WHAT YOU GET • NO ELEVATOR • NO RECEPTION, NO CONCIERGE, NOT EVEN THE HOST • ADDITIONAL TAX ?!? WHAT FOR? • VERY VERY HOT AND HUMID (SEPTEMBER) - HAD TO SLEEP WITH WINDOWS OPEN, NOISY TOO • DIRTY - CHECK THE PHOTOS: DIRTY AND POSSIBLY MOLDY WINDOWS, RIPPED CURTAINS, HAIR STRAND ON BED • UNCOMFORTABLE BED • EXHAUSTED BED LINENS THAT NEEDED CHANGE VERY LONG AGO • RULES - I CAME ON PAID HOLIDAY NOT IN A DORM! • SOAP IN THE BATHROOM IS DILUTED WITH WATER • 10 AM CHECKOUT • TV didn’t work in this room, no one to ask for help It's just that I didn't find availability at the hotels downtown otherwise l'd never choose this option. The price is similar to a hotel room but you get nothing like in a hotel. A hotel will also not charge you additional taxes! Breakfast is very light, mainly pastries, and unmonitored This is not to be mean or anything but this is to be transparent so others know what to expect for the money they pay. Also not sure whether all the rooms are posted on booking.com or just the top floor, worth to check that out.
Beautiful Victorian home with some updates provided a very cozy feel. Walkable to downtown St. John’s with lots of sights to see nearby.
the location was excellent and the breakfast was very good
The size of the bathroom was very small, and while we had a fan it got alittle warm on the top floor.
Convenient location; surprised at general ease in finding curbside parking on a busy street.
Very small vestibule/entry for removing shoes…but, it IS an older home, so not wholly unexpected.
We were on the third floor, the temperature in our room was too uncomfortable for sleeping and there was no air conditioning. There was a heat alert during our stay.
Very homey with a cool heritage feel. Easy to check in and out. The staff were lovely and friendly! Great breakfast and coffee! Enjoyed all the seating options: in the kitchen, on the patio and lawn. Great location in walking distance to downtown, parks, and Signal Hill etc.
Everything felt a little neglected - the overall cleanliness, up keep, and condition. Our dresser had broken drawers, a cabinet shelf was broken, and the towel rack kept pulling out of the wall…
Great location. Nice facility and friendly host. Downside was lugging suitcase up 2 flights of stairs and taking shoes on and off when entering/exiting
The continental Breakfast was amazing. The kitchen facility was well stocked The refrigerator was very large and lots of ice on hand for drinks. Lovely patio for outdoor dining and relsxing
The housekeeping has got to be improved. Need more attention to cleanliness in the bathroom and vacuuming of the unit We had to get housekeeping into our room before we could unpack for our stay of 2 days
The location was perfect for our first time visiting Newfoundland! The breakfast was just what we needed to start our day off to hike and tour around. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Hoping to visit again some time in the future!
Very friendly and helpful staff!
Fantastic owner and daughter really looked after us.
On characteristically warm weather so the third floor was a bit warm, but could do about that they provided as a fan
Excellent!
The breakfast, the size of the room and the bathroom, the little garden.
We had a problem with the hotel water, so did shower with cold water.
Good location and easy parking
Clean and tidy
Very great location near the core of 'downtown' St. John's. Everything within walking distance, also Quidi Vidi and Signal Hill.
The weather was soo warm and we were not able to open any windows (they were painted shut) except one in the bathroom. There was no A/C in our room so it was warm and sticky.
Room was a third floor walk up . NO air conditioning and a barely functioning fan - on a very hot night!
Great location, 5 mins to a great bar, 10 mins to the main strip. We walked everywhere, Signall hill, Quidi Vidi, all over town. Lovely to stay in a unique guest house and not a boring chain. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable about NFL and couldn’t do enough to make your stay great.
Nothing
It was very comfortable, clean ands homey. Great central location. Information binder was very helpful.
Great location with friendly family atmosphere. Full healthy breakfast. Comfy beds and linens . Good wifi. Lovely garden. Nice sitting room for reading and meeting other guests
My room wasn't ensure so I had to cross the hall ,not a problem but a slight step down near my door made nite time bathroom visits a tad challenging. No communal washroom on main floor
We enjoyed everything…the location was perfect, an easy walk to city centre and to a number of major tourist sites. The house was so welcoming, the room was large and comfortable, the hosts and staff were extremely friendly, helpful and informative. It felt like home away from home…safe and comfy.
It was private, quaint and great location. Easy walk to city life but uphill after that lol ! Quick drive Quidi Vidi and Torbay coves ! We had our own back yard and our 5 year old and wife loved it.. you don’t see much from the back yard but it’s nice!
The spaciousness of the rooms The amazing breakfast with friendly staff
This is a well-located B&B- walking distance to downtown and Signal Hill, room and common areas were clean and thoughtfully furnished, check-in/out process was easy, owner is friendly and helpful!
I found the bed frame rather squeaky- could hear it squeak from just tossing and turning in bed. Shower stall/bathroom is a bit of a squeeze and the water temperature was somewhat temperamental but it wasn't all that bad.
I love this property! The rooms are charming, check in is easy and location is great. Love the breakfast food offered in the morning.

Location nice and central but would book a room off the main road next time
Breakfast was chaotic. Very poor choice and you needed to clear other guests' dishes away to access anything. No sign of owners. Could not get away from traffic noise
Loved the period feel and location. The breakfast was plentiful and varied. Plus Rob was an excellent host.
The stairs to the second floor seemed to go on forever when carrying large suitcases.
Amazing hosts and rooms. Perfect thank you
Super Breakfast, beautiful home, friendly host, easy access to downtown,
The breakfast was good. It was a continental. There were lots of options especially for myself who is gluten free. I also liked the fact that they had a fridge available to the guests so you could purchase something for lunch or supper if you wanted and sit and eat it there.
The room could have been cleaner. The bathroom floor had hair and dust on it. The bedroom appeared not to have been vacuumed or the floors cleaned either The owner rectified it once I mentioned it. Also there wasn’t a bath mat or glasses in the room. The dishes from breakfast sat all day in the sink as the dishwasher was full. There needs to be someone to come in and just clean up after breakfast.
It was walking distance to everything we wanted to see, very comfortable and easy delicious self serve breakfast in a bright kitchen.
Great location for accessing St Johns. Facility was great and breakfast was good.
The location was great for exploring St. John's! The breakfast was really nice - great options - beautiful backyard - comfortable bed - free parking
wish I would have know the room was on the 3rd floor - quite hot with a not so efficient fan - never saw the owners of the place but their daughter was very friendly with the breakfast
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. Especially appreciated being able to do laundry and the location was very convenient for exploring.
Breakfast was perfect, plenty of great coffee & simple breakfast. Coffee & tea available all day which was really nice in the afternoon. Spare fridge for guests was very helpful.
Really absolutely nothing to complain about, the place was beautiful. I would suggest extra towels & there was a sign to use specific towels for makeup removal but there weren't any on the table or counter.
We had a good stay. Bob was very helpful and gave us a lot of suggestions on what to do. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was quite ample
Lovely place and amazing hosts!!!
The guesthouse was exceptional. I love the atmosphere it offers. It is quiet at night, offering some peace to all who stayed and breakfast for everyone.
The host was very friendly and engaging with all the guests. He had good suggestions on places to visit and eat at. The deck and back yard were extremely inviting and pleasant to sit at. Parking was convenient.
The old manor is showing a little wear and could use a little touch up but mostly a nice place.
The owners Rob and Brenda were delightful and very helpful-suggesting restaurants, making a reservation, etc. The place was very comfortable with a lovely deck and garden. Great location for restaurants and near the water. Prefer this place to the generic hotel I have to move to as part of a tour group!
The location is excellent, and the two teenagers who provide most of the services are lovely.
The room was unbearably hot as it had no air conditioning. The outside temperature felt like 33 C, and inside the room, it was even warmer. As soon as we arrived, we asked the owner to release us from the contract. The room was stifling. He tried to ignore the question and instead offered advice on where to eat. When we insisted and told him it must be higher than 35C in that upstairs room, he refused to refund the fee. He promised it would get cooler overnight. Sadly, we listened to this. It did not get cooler. With the humidity, it felt like 29 overnight, just as forecasted. We regretted every miserable moment of that sleepless night. Hubby couldn't stay in the room. He spent the night in the living room two floors down, which was still warm but not as unbearable as upstairs. The owner said it didn't make sense to pay to buy air con units for the few days in St John's that it's needed. I understand that, but it might make more sense to him if he was releasing his guests from their contracts when it's too warm to be healthy. Holding us to the full cost means no downside for him. Breakfast is nothing like a B&B. It's cold and self-serve. Also, the bed is so rickety that you can feel every move your partner makes. The sheets seemed clean stains on the bare comforter. The room was superficially clean but old and tired, with grout missing in the shower and dings in the walls and furniture. The fans they provided were dusty and only blew hot air around. The other owner told us this is a student rooming house in winter, and that's what it felt like. To us, the fee was not in keeping with the product. We were spoiled by B&Bs throughout NL, which were so much better and staffed with owners who lived onsite and provided services to their clients. Really nice hotels in the area are only $50 more per night.
Convenient location walkable to many attractions. Lovely back deck for coffee and ample breakfast choices. A fridge and laundry access are nice amenities.
Relied upon a shared bathroom with other guests which can always be a bit tricky. Ideally the shower and toilet would be in two separate rooms.
Location was great, nice breakfast
Room was very hot.
Continental breakfast was good, as was the company of the owner’s teenage daughter, who was in charge of it.
Rooms were spacious , comfortable beds, nice towels, bedding . Serene location, gorgeous house and backyard. Great breakfast. Owner was very friendly. My 2nd time staying here and will definitely return again.
The location is fantastic. Our hosts were open, helpful, and warm. So nice to have laundry facilities available on site! And the common spaces were beautiful-- a bright kitchen and back deck and garden.
Breakfast was great!
No AC in the room, so it was a bit hot
Comfortable bed, nice continental breakfast. Great host.
Very hot in the room!
Location
All good
Location, nice back deck, parking available
House is tired and worn, breakfast was only so-so with guests bumping into each other in a tight kitchen space to serve ourselves, our top floor room was too warm to sleep and loud on a busy street
We were in the basement spot. Because a Keurig coffee machine was provided, I looked for pods . There were none nor any milk or cream for coffee. Not sure about sugar, as I don’t use that. Bathroom had left over hair on floor, from last clients I guess, and a white towel with a dark brown stain. Bed is very soft lumpy. Hostess was pleasant when asked, but not a natural at welcoming people. Location was fabulous for visiting top tourist sites.
10 minute walk to downtown, 25 minute walk to Signal hill, 40 minute walk to Quidi Vidi. Great Location
The location, the charm, the health breakfast , the hospitality and the cleanliness
Very accommodating owner. Our stay needed to be reduced by one night because if last minute ferry reschedule The owner was kind to refund us for one night even after deadline for change/cancellation was paaaed
