Die Unterkunft ist abgelegen, mind 20 Automin. von Baddeck entfernt. Unseres Zimmer war ziemlich dunkel, kleines Fenster.

Our room was in the back on the ground floor, so not the best location. But it had a sitting room so that was nice. We hear the screened in porch is lovely. Unfortunately, it was raining like crazy so that option wasn't available.

LES REPAS !!!! La propriétaire est une Chef extraordianire qui sert un menu de type dégustation incroyable. Les textures et saveurs sont à couper le souffle. Une vraie belle surprise. Au-delà des attentes.

Reviewed Sep 6, 2026Nettes, kleines Hotel im Retrostil. Kleine, aber gepflegte Zimmer mit Minikühlschrank. Sehr gutes Frühstück mit viel Auswahl für die Region. Abendessen ( Tasting Menu) sehr gut, abwechslungsreich und spannend angerichtet, jedoch nicht zum Sattwerden nach einem langen Tag. Ausgesprochenen nettes Personal, vor allem der Besitzer. Toller Ausgangspunkt für diverse Aktivitäten
Zu den Zimmern kommt man nur über eine steile Treppe. Abstellfächen für das Gepäck sehr begrenzt.

Reviewed Sep 4, 2026The cottage had a beautiful setting and all was as described and depicted. The hosts and included breakfast were outstanding.
All the furniture was very uncomfortable. The sofa and chair were very low and soft while the bed was so firm we side sleepers woke achily after a hard night's sleep. The cottage shows considerable age and wear, especially outside on the porch and stairs.

Reviewed Aug 30, 2026Das Frühstück war sehr gut und die Dame beim Frühstücksservice ausgesprochen freundlich und herzlich. Wir hatten trotz der Kritikpunkte insgesamt eine schöne Zeit in Cape Breton.
Wir hatten ein Cottage gebucht, das leider nicht unseren Erwartungen entsprach. Auf den Bildern der Buchungsplattform wirkt es deutlich komfortabler und gepflegter als vor Ort. Die Einrichtung und das Cottage selbst sind bereits etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Besonders gestört hat uns der deutlich muffige Geruch, der auch durch längeres Lüften nicht verschwunden ist. Auch die gesamte Anlage wirkte teilweise etwas vernachlässigt. In einigen Bereichen standen unter anderem defekte Geräte und andere Dinge herum. Aufgrund unseres Gesamteindrucks konnten wir die sehr hohen Bewertungen anderer Gäste nicht ganz nachvollziehen.

Reviewed Aug 26, 2026What a beautiful inn! You can tell the pride the owners take in their property by the way it is cared for and decorated . It is in a quiet area , yet still very easy to get to. We stayed on our last night after enjoying the Cabot trail . Everything from our welcome , to our room , amazing dinner and breakfast was very ,very enjoyable and special ! Holger is a fun and engaging host . We didn’t get to meet his better half , but her food and its presentation were outstanding. We loved sitting on the front porch enjoying a bottle of wine after our wonderful trip to Nova Scotia . I highly recommend The Chantrelle Inn !

Reviewed Aug 26, 2026Room: Room 6 was clean, beautifully decorated and finally a room without unnecessary Tvs and remotes! Thankfully it has AC and a fan a real helper in this humidity. Dinner: We had the set tasting menu (fish) and it was delicious. The bread was also so tasty I could have eaten 10 slices of it. The staff is nice and they are checking in regularly if you need anything else. Breakfast: Yummy! And beautiful porch to sit and enjoy breakfast. Parking: On site, free Hosts: Ihr seid super und wir werden den den Aufenthalt in guter Erinnerung behalten. Vielleicht schaffen wir es nochmals in den nächsten 3 Jahren zu euch!

The set menu is beautifully presented and the desire to represent Nova Scotia products is excellent- the wine is not as impressive as the food and beer.

Reviewed Aug 3, 2026This Inn is about 10 miles from the start of the Cabot Trail. It’s in a lovely country setting. We stayed in a little cabin with kitchen facilities. Breakfast was great at the Inn. We also had the chef’s table dinner one night and it was excellent. Baddeck is about a 30 minute drive. Location is quiet .
Not really a knock, but the entry to the property is a steep gravel driveway and not so easy to spot from the road. Look for the 60 KMH sign and it’s right there!

Reviewed Jul 22, 2026Sehr guter Start- oder Endpunkt für den Cabot Trail. Das sehr gut geführte, absolut ruhige und gemütlich eingerichtete Hotel ist wunderschön auf einem Hügel gelegen. Die Zimmer sind nicht luxuriös, aber sehr sauber und angemessen ausgestattet, insb. mit Klimaanlage. Abendessen wird, wenn möglich, auf der Veranda mit Blick über die Waldlandschaft serviert. Es gibt ein mehrgängiges Menu, je nach Wunsch mit Fleisch, Fisch oder vegetarisch. Die Qualität des Essens war - insb. auch nach europäischen Massstäben - wirklich hervorragend. Es lohnt sich, das Nachtessen vor Ort einzunehmen, auch wenn es keine à la carte Optionen gibt. Im Umkreis von 20 oder mehr Kilometern gibt es sonst keine Verpflegungsmöglichkeiten.
Nichts, kann uneingeschränkt empfohlen werden.

Reviewed Jul 20, 2026Abseits der Touristenroute ist das ein sehr ruhiger Ort, der Entspannung bietet. Das Haus ist etwas hellhörig, aber das Zimmer war schön und das Bett war sehr bequem. Hervorragend ist die Weinauswahl! Das Frühstück war wunderbar, ich empfehle die Blueberry-Pancakes!

Cottage ist schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Nummer 30. Das Geländer der Veranda ist defekt. Der Kühlschrank hat innen Roststellen. Es riecht nicht frisch im Bett wie auf dem Sofa. Für mich riecht es wie nach nassem Hund. Das Sofa ist komplett zu weich. Das Bad zu klein. Die Einrichtungsteile zu alt. die Zufahrt ist sehr steil und eine Schotterstrasse. Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis des Nachtessens hat uns nicht überzeugt. Der Schneepflug und andere Utensilien stehen einfach so rum, das wertet die Umgebung ab.

Windows in room too high, could not see out. No television in room, which would be nice for evening, as there is nothing else nearby. Outside surroundings of the inn were not welcoming, nor cleaned up. Laneway up the hill to the inn was quite washed out and uneven.

Food and service is fabulous…and outstanding views. Nice size room and comfortable bed well appointed bathroom. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend for a quiet stay outside of town.

Delicious breakfast and dinner was an amazing tasting menu. We had some minor issues with our room but not a huge deal. Overall a lovely place to stay if you want to be isolated.
