What an amazing calm and beautiful place right in the heart of London , one of the best places I have stayed in central London
Nothing
It's a beautiful hotel with lots of quirky little touches that make your stay feel really special. The staff were lovely and I was upgraded to the Batty Langley room with a gorgeous four poster bed. Such a treat! Everything was spotless, the bathroom was huge, I had a kettle and tea, water (still and sparkling), and milk - all complimentary. There's also a mini-bar that was reasonably priced. Breakfast was delicious and filling with vegan options. It's a short walk from Liverpool Street. I loved it and can't wait to go back!
Everything was wonderful.
So British ! Confidentiel et feutré. Service impeccable.
This is probably the nicest hotel we have stayed in—so much luxury in every detail. The staff were wonderful, the copper tub afforded me the best bath I have ever had, beds were so soft, & the breakfast phenomenal. What a delight!!
It’s not the greatest of areas to stay in London—walking to the tube takes you past some unsavory sites. But the nights stay was great.
The hotel is full of character, our room was excellent and the bed was super comfortable and the staff were very helpful
Nothing
Beautiful hotel, out of this world, truly. The staff were wonderful, so friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.
It was perfect
Everything was good nothing negative
Stunning Georgian boutique hotel
Beautifully decorated lobby, lounge area, library and room. Very kind staff at the reception. Great location, close to public transport but the hotel itself is in a quiet side street. Safe surroundings. We will return for sure.
Our room was tiny, it was difficult to fit and walk around in it. It was suitable really only for sleeping. Next time we will book a bigger room. The bed for two people would be a bit narrow for two taller/bigger people. Breakfast is only available in room service and we did not use this service especially because our room was too tiny and we would not have been able to sit down to eat.
It feels like a secret time capsule - I’ve walked down this street tens of times and didn’t even notice it before. It’s immaculately beautiful. The public spaces and bars feel like an early modern personal home. It’s an escape into luxury and history. The bath was phenomenal.
My room was very cozy and comfortable with A/C. I loved all the old books, and the bath products were locally sourced and smelled divine!
The down comforter was good, but the pillows were a little difficult to get used to since they sink down so much - I had to stack 3 just to be comfortable. But overall it was okay.
I was traveling alone— 80 years old— and lived every minute of my visit. The staff is superb and the service is impeccable.

It’s an absolutely beautiful hotel with kind and helpful staff. The location is excellent and the breakfast delivery to the room every morning was an added bonus.
Unique
It was absolutely gorgeous. The building and decor were so beautiful. There were restaurants and shops close by. The people couldn’t have been friendlier.
I cannot say anything negative about the stay or the property.
Period features clean very quiet
Asked staff if they could do a little something for my girlfriends birthday and wedding proposal, they did absolutely nothing
An oasis of calm, a stones throw from Spitalfields market and a few mins walk from Liverpool st. and Shoreditch. the decor is lovely, rooms well appointed, staff excellent, spotlessly clean, spacious rooms.
The mattress could have been a little more softer, thicker topper and the pillows could have been plumper (i am nit picking here as we had a wonderful nights sleep)
Excellent place. We had an amazing time.
Nothing
Beautifully restored Georgian Hugenot silk weavers’ house on the famous Folgate Street. Filled with character and charm at every turn. Perfect room service and food.
Can’t fault anything.
Unique, great location
Nothing really
For those that want an alternative to luxury big hotel this is it. Location fantastic ambiance fantastic it’s a gem and total relaxation guaranteed
Nothing and I mean nothing for me but our room didn’t have a mirror by the dressing table and a note to specify that coffee is a call to reception - water said for coffee and no coffee in room.
Fantastic staff. Really quiet and calm room. Great bathroom
It was a perfect experience! Exceptionally comfortable, beautifully designed room and bathroom. Excellent attention to detail. Staff were fabulous
The property oozes history and has been well designed , close to Liverpool St for easy access
Hotel is down a quiet cobbled street just off a busy Main Street. Very peaceful. A few minutes walk from Liverpool Street railway and underground station which has multiple underground and overground connections to travel all over London. The hotel is a grade 2 building. Inside is authentic Georgian furniture with modern stuff mostly hidden (In our room anyway: TV behind a fold away mirror. Fridge and safe behind cupboard doors). We had the Sarah Marchant room (all rooms are named - not numbered) which was a luxury double. Very spacious. Had 2 shower heads so me and partner able to shower at same time. Only negatives I can come up with is that the shower floor had a couple of minor cracks in it and the toilet had copper on the seating which was initially cold to sit on. Contrary to previous reviews, kettle and tea/coffee are now in each room. Air conditioning in this heatwave was a godsend. Several communal areas in the hotel including a library, tapestry room, lounge and small outside area. Honesty bar is nice but as non-drinkers we didn’t use this. Staff are friendly and offer tour of the hotel facilities. Rooms are cleaned & towels/linen changed daily. Didn’t order breakfast or room service but saw & smelt other guests orders which looked and smelt yummy (hotel is close to plenty of places that do breakfast & other meal restaurants). Also, previous reviews said you need to leave your key at reception if you go out - but you don’t. You do have to ring the bell to get back in the hotel but I never waited more than 30 seconds to be let back in. Yes. It is slightly pricey, but worth it as a treat. We were not disappointed. We were gutted to be leaving. Thank you Batty Langley’s for a wonderful stay.
Such a gorgeous anniversary trip
I love the lounges, the honesty bars are great, free homemade cake in the lounge on a Friday and Saturday.
The room was wonderfully clean, apart from a dusty light shade on my bedside lamp which actually fit the antique aesthetic rather aptly! The decor was stunning as you would expect with such a high quality hotel. Attention to detail was magnificent and majority of staff were friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed the history of the hotel and the slightly eccentric charm. Location was fantastic!! Literally in the middle of the Spitalfields area of London with so many incredible places to explore and dine at. A ten minute (slow) walk to Liverpool Street Station which was perfect for us as we were travelling to Tottenham Stadium for a concert. We ordered room service for breakfast the following day and it was perfection. One of the best bacon rolls I’ve ever had!
There were significant building works taking place during our stay. Although we were warned about this with a blanket email, when I responded to voice my concerns and ask a few questions in relation, I received no reply. My communications were completely ignored. In the blanket email that was sent out to all guests, we were assured that no disruption would occur with the building works and that there was no need for concern. No discounts or complimentary offerings were made in order to apologise for the inconvenience. Furthermore, we were only made aware of the work taking place once the booking was made. This felt a little underhand and in poor taste. Despite correspondence assuring us that we would not be impacted by the building works, we were actually significantly affected. The builders and their scaffolding were directly outside our window, they could hear us very clearly in our room and vice versa, we were actually woken by the noise of building work and the builders having an early morning chat! Our other issue was with our toilet. The flush seemed to break the morning of our stay. As we were leaving that day, there seemed little need to report it immediately as we were hours away from checking out and we would simply be in the way of the maintenance team whilst they repaired the flush. Instead I reported both the broken toilet and the noise/privacy issues with the front desk as we were checking out. This was deeply disappointing. No apologies were offered, no explanation or sign of goodwill for the inconvenience. I wasn’t expecting anything ridiculous, this is a business. However, as we had spent a fair amount on both our room and breakfast in bed that was somewhat shared with the builders, perhaps a small discount on our food would’ve been nice. Or simply an apology! Instead we received a shrug and a bill. Disappointing customer service and would not recommend staying at this hotel, certainly until the building work is complete.
The luxurious bedding, decor, appointments, coffee service, breakfast, location and deeply dreamy vibe of this HISTORIC hotel were over the top. It is our favorite London stay.
Virkeligt sødt personale
Wc og badet larmede lidt, men pyt. Alt andet var perfekt.
Tout!
Loved the antiques and charm of the hotel. Work was being done outside of my room obstructing the future view of the beautiful courtyard. I was notified of the work 2 weeks in advance.
I was relaxing n the beautiful soaking tub after a day of sightseeing when I noticed that the upper window was left open and unlocked. There was scaffolding outside that allowed anyone from the street to gain entry. I am assuming a worker did this.

Everything. This property is beautiful
Nothing. Loved everything
Nothing was to much trouble. All of the staff were very accomodating and friendly.
Plate covers on food brought to room would improve this part of the service with regard to food staying warmer and hygiene.
It is quiet and private and hidden away, yet close to the tube and fabulous restaurants. Very unique.
From the moment you arrive it is as if you are in the gentry home of the wealthy relatives. Attention to detail and comfort is abundant Staff and amenities perfection. All at the convergence of Liverpool Street and Spitalfields convenience to the air conditioned Elizabeth Line ideal in the record breaking heat wave. Highest of praise deserved
Absolutely gorgeous retro setup in the middle of the city
it was all fabulous

Wonderful hotel
Friendly staff and centrally located to underground and attractions
Needed a step stool to get into bed
Cute, immaculate, beautifully refurbished, bath in the room.
On the pricey side.
It was my 60th birthday 🎁 The staff helped my daughter arrange a cake and flowers What a wonderful hotel. So cosy. The staff are wonderful and friendly. I will be visiting again in august.
I loved everything
close to Liverpool street. fun area. I loved the detailed history of the area in the folder in my room. a lovely touch that made the place come alive and feel genuine.
Fantastisk beliggenhed. Roligt men tæt på super spændende område. Fantastisk indretning
I really appreciated the teams' support. I hosted a work event at the hotel as well as stayed and felt like I had absolutely everything I needed while there.
I did find myself wishing I could eat a meal somewhere other than my room. But the room service was very prompt.
The room was nice and clean as we pre-warned the hotel my daughter has a dust allergy. We liked the lounges and the peace and quiet. A small cosy hotel and I am sure when the scaffolding is removed the courtyard would be lovely to sit in but now no....again they are charging the same prices which isn't correct as its already VERY expensive.
One thing we did not like and think we should have been compensated for was the scaffolding outside our window, although we were warned there was scaffolding outside the hotel it did not say specifically it would be outside of our window and Men could literally see everything we were doing in our room so no privacy and we only had not very nice wooden shutters that did not black out the room. For the price we were charged they should have given us a discount for this as it was intimidating and not very nice. My daughter did not like this at all. The high step up to the bath was very difficult for my daughter to get in and out of as she has Dyspraxia so her movements are a bit erratic. I think anyone over 70 would struggle to get in and out of that bath.
We stayed in the Earl of Bolingbroke room which was simply fantastic! The hotel was wonderful overall!

Loved the whole feel of the place. Very vintagey and quaint! Our room was spacious and comfortable, and we loved the Victorian bathroom features. So handy for Spitalfields market and several tube stations. The staff were just outstanding, so friendly and welcoming
Nothing at all
The decor and style of the hotel is second to none. The fire places, the library and books bring so much character and charm. It was so perfect.
Nothing- everything was wonderful!
Beautiful hotel, very well located and professional and friendly staff. Hopefully we will be back.
The building was beautiful, the room was really opulent and comfortable, very nice bed, amazing bath and great in room breakfast the next day. Loved it!
Absolutely everything! A lovely boutique hotel with a great story behind it. The highest standards of service and quality without being pretentious or stuffy. Staff were lovely, service was exceptional. Loved the common areas, the courtyard garden and the fabulous honesty bar. Quiet, cosy, comfy rooms.
The en-suite bathroom in our room was gorgeous but getting into the bath to take a shower requires good mobility so worth checking whether there are alternatives should that be a concern.
excellent location
very old building and rooms
Beautiful building and a lovely boutique feel with great attention to detail
I stayed in the box room - a small room with a single bed. It was perfect for my two night stay - very comfortable and clean. The staff are lovely, special thanks to Helen and Adam who were very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for me. Will definitely be staying again. Location perfect and even a coffee in bed is a 5 star experience - being bought on a tray with a flower and biscuits. Lovely.
A very enjoyable stay. The staff were friendly and very welcoming :) the location was perfect, within walking distance from Liverpool Street Station, near lots of restaurants and bars which was perfect for us. the room was very clean and comfortable. A lovely hotel.

Lovely hotel. Nice room, lovely snug, library room and terrace!
Could have done with access to coffee in the morning 😃
Very charismatic and staff were really helpful
It could do with a music speaker or alarm in the rooms
loved our stay but my previous visit I had a much nicer room. so very good but a little disappointed in my room . many thanks Nikki
Beautifully presented, very clean and exceptional staff.
Nothing!
The hotel was quirky and surprisingly peaceful for central London . The area was great with plenty of options for food and drink. Lovely communal lounges with lots of beautiful decor. The staff were helpful and polite.
Pretty much perfect, I would have liked an armchair in our room.
Staff were all exceedingly kind and helpful
We live in the Cotswolds, love London but the not the noise and the impersonal experience of the big hotels so Batty Langleys was absolutely perfect! The quaintness and quietness of the street does not quite prepare you for the grandness and splendour of this smaller hotel. It feels oppulent yet cosy with quirkiness and quality from the bedrooms full of books and fluffy towelling robes, to the communal lounges with cosy chairs, fires and Gin to help yourself to at the honesty bar. After alot of walking we slumped into a comfy sofa and had cups of tea which is served piping hot in a china pot and you can help yourself to a slice of the delicious freshly made cake on the table too. We slept extremely well with no noise other than an occasional rumble from the plumbing, perhaps a little old in places like the potraits. Breakfast, which is only served in bed! Was a delight of fresh bafels, juice, steaming tea, salmon and avocados and lime. The staff were curteous, polite and warm, you couldnt ask for more....wish we had stayed longer, next time!
Staff were amazing . Location fab . Hotel a cut above the rest !
Standard raffiné des prestations. Personnel discret et efficace.
Chauffage un peu bruyant la nuit.
Absolutely excellent in every aspect

Great news lace for a london getaway!
My favourite hotel in London.
Quaint and quirky hotel. Quiet and beautifully decorated.
very poor lighting in bathroom for putting on make up. Also we were woken one morning by the sound of water cascading down the pipe - it was very loud. We dreaded being woken early the next morning for the same reason but thankfully we weren't.
The hotel is characterful and interesting, elegantly decorated and super comfortable - love the furnishings and we felt very welcomed and received an unexpected upgrade.
We liked everything about the hotel; one minor thing is that the breakfast arrangements are a little inflexible, delicious but took its time to arrive, when one of our party had to leave early.
Alles, außergewöhnlich ruhig und angenehm.
Everything it was all perfect
