The rooms were great and it was fun to visit the pub acroess the courtyard

The double bed was broken - the metal frame was detached from the main wooden framework and it was very precarious. The bathroom was great but there was a smell of the sewer as I think the toilet waste was not properly air tight.

5 bells is a bit out of the way, but that is its charm. They were very kind to me and my bicycle, giving me space to assemble the bike and store it securely.

The two rooms were old, poorly decorated, un aired (smelled of smoke and damp). The toilets had black residue in from clearly not being used or cleaned in some time. The bedding smelt old and fusty - we were unable to sleep in them. The walls and sofa were damaged and frayed. The pub smoking courtyard was right outside the bedroom window and remain noisy until after midnight - owner was included in this. Shower didn't work well. Utterly uncomfortable. No parking (except street parking away from the location). owner told us not to worry as the gates don't lock so you can sneak out in the morning!

Comfortable room slept really well. Enjoyed the pizza we had at the restaurant.

This could be such a great place to stay, the pub itself is really cute, the staff were friendly and the apparent was a great size, clean and had everything needed.

The double bed was so uncomfortable that I didn’t sleep a wink, at the slightest movement the squeaking is so loud. The apartment was also roasting, it was a heat wave so we expected it to be warm but no windows had been opened so it was like an oven when we walked in. We opened the windows when we arrived but the noise from the road was so loud that we had to shut them. It needs a fan or two.

Very friendly owner with a pub below the rooms. Nice and comfortable rooms. We stayed here the night before our ferry to Dunkirk. Dover is only a couple of minutes drive.

Carpet floors have seen better times, but still okay.

Entrance was grubby, road cones on cellar entrance as it needs replacing Doors in general were in need of painting and stair and landing carpet were awful!

There was a bar to have refreshments.

When we arrived it was closed and we couldn't access it which was extremely worrying. I phoned the number several times but there was no answer. After being outside for 20 minutes and thinking we had been conned the manager came to the gate. We were woken up from 5 am onwards while other guest were heading off to maybe the ferry or work because the walls were so paper thin. Dirty ashtrays on the garden tables which were right beside an underground gas cylinder storage that clearly stated no flammables....bit of a worry. The place needs some love and someone to wow it.

The loo smelled bad. We didn’t raise it at the time as needed to leave early and it was only one night. Also road noise was bad (not helped by fact that we had to have windows open due to the heatwave so not something that could be helped).

Great location for Dover ferry port and lovely friendly staff.

No on site parking, you just have to find somewhere in the village outside someone’s house.

Der Pub liegt nur 20 Autominuten vom Fährterminal in Dover entfernt und in 7 min. Ist man am Strand/ der Küste. Der Besitzer war super nett, wir haben noch einen netten Abend im Pub verbracht. Das Bett war sehr gemütlich.

Es gibt keine Klimaanlage, was bei Temperaturen von 30 Grad und mehr schon unangenehm sein kann. Insgesamt ist die Ausstattung etwas in die Jahre gekommen, es hat aber alles du funktioniert.

Zeer vriendelijke eigenaar die zijn best heeft gedaan ons verblijf aangenaam te maken.

Helaas geen restaurant en ontbijt, dus afhaalpizza. Aan zeer drukke weg. Koplampen en voorbijrazend verkeerslawaai. Het raam kregen we niet dicht. De badkamer was niet schoon. Maar het was niet duur en de ruimte en bedden waren prima en schoon.

Vriendelijke ontvangst. Prima kamer en badkamer. Dichtbij zee. Heel dicht bij vertrek ferry naar Calais ( 10 minuten rijden)

Geen ontbijt mogelijk. Geen restaurant, wel kon eten voor je besteld worden, maar dat hoorden we te laat. Parkeren in een straat, niet bij hotel.

Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, but I told John on leaving shower drain needed cleaning out, it could do with a shower shelf, there was nowhere to put your shampoo etc, room 1 is next to the pitched roof, so be aware no view but lovely room

Friendly landlord but room could have been better. No plug in basin and curtains far too flimsy....they let in all the light. Also parking only in the road if you are lucky.

Gute Lage zu den White Cliffs of Dover und dem Besucherzentrum des National Trust sowie zur Fähre; Späte Ankunft um 22 Uhr war möglich, unkompliziertes Ein- und Auschecken; Wie gewünscht zwei getrennte Betten bekommen mit sehr guten Matratzen; Das Beste aber waren die Freundlichkeit, mit der wir begrüßt wurden, und die netten Gäste im Pub, wo wir uns bei Gesprächen und einem Bier von der anstrengenden Fahrt erholen konnten.

Es gibt nichts, das uns nicht gefallen hätte.

On arrival we were greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome from the landlord who was exceptionally helpful, especially as we didn't arrive until around 10pm. We were shown to our room straight away which was clean and comfortable with everything we needed during our stay. We left very early to catch a ferry and check out was extremely easy with a locked mailbox to drop our keys off. We would definitely stay again when we are travelling to France from Dover.

Nothing to note with regards to the property and roo, it was one of the hottest days of the year so the room was quite warm but we were able to open the window to get a breeze in and this is not the fault of the property as it is an old building so to be expected.

A little dusty in the bathroom but nothing major The room was really really hot due to this extreme weather at the moment, but that's no one's fault but there was no AC or fan.

Hygiëne, badmat was zeer vuil; hoort ook niet in een badkamer die iedereen deelt, de kamers waren smerig, stof lag overal, stofdraden, geen ontbijt, en ook geen mogelijkheid tot avondeten wat wel vermeld stond. P parkeren kon je langs de straatkant. minst goede verblijf van ons 10 dagen ritje door Engeland, we verbleven ook altijd ergens anders.

Super netter Wirt. Wir sind mit dem Motorrad angereist und durften die Motorräder gleich in den Hof stellen. Nach dem Einchecken gab es ein paar leckere Bier.

Fällt mir nix dazu ein.

Very noisy as was right next to a busy road so I didn’t get any sleep at all.

The accommodation at the Five Bells delivers as promised, and completely met our expectations. The room was basic, but clean and tidy, and included everything we needed. A private bathroom and tea & coffee making facilities. Plus, you have the bonus of a friendly pub downstairs! The location was ideal for us, too, just a 10-minute cycle ride from Deal.

It was very basic. There was NO food available! Only told on arrival. Would definitely NOT have stayed here had we been told before hand. No dinner. No breakfast The details show lovely food with a hygiene rating of 5....from 2014!!!! Described as elegant rooms.. def NOT elegant! Very shabby. I feel we should have been offered a partial refund for lack of kitchen. It cost us in taxis to go out to eat. We were offered a takeaway pizza menu

Didn’t like that the pub was closed until 5pm every day, no breakfast, in actual fact, no food…. They did have a chef in one night , although to call him a chef is another matter, I think my cat could have made better fajitas and nachos …

Ontbijt was er niet, er was namelijk geen kok aanwezig. Parkeren was waardeloos, je moet namelijk langs de weg parkeren (zonder parkeervakken). Zo’n 300 meter van het hotel was een parkeerplaatsje van de weg af waar wij toevallig nog een plekje vonden.

The owner greeted us upon arrival and showed us to our room. He was friendly and kind carrying my bags upstairs, he explained about key return etc. He honestly couldn’t do enough.

It’s not as much a dislike as a comment. The room we stayed in and the bathroom were clean, the bed was comfortable. Everything was satisfactory and simply no frills, exactly as I would expect for the very reasonable price we paid.

The apartment was very nice, the pub mood with neighbors is also very nice. The owner is very kind and helpful, we felt very welcome.

A few points that can improve the experience: add blackout curtains in the rooms and add some more cooking utensils, a spatula, coffee maker, etc, in the flat.
