Holiday Inn Express Gatlinburg Downtown by IHG

Everything was nice. The breakfast was great. Plenty to eat especially bacon which a lot of hotels do not serve much anymore.

The location is near the parkway but away enough it's not a super busy area. The breakfast was good. Staff was nice and saw them handle an issue with a rude guest appropriately and professionally.

Pool area was closed completely 3 of the 5 days we were there with no real explanation as to why as it didn't even storm 2 of those days. Then closed again due to an actual storm on our last day. Kids were extremely disappointed as that is the reason we always stay here. My daughter was beyond excited for it and only got about 3 hours worth total the whole week. Kinda ridiculous as we didn't get the value out of it whatsoever. Pretty sure that pool area has a mold problem though on the walls where the windows are and around the pool. Shower ceiling had paper I'm assuming peeling off of it. Black spots on the shower curtain. Hole in the wall where someone must've slammed the bathroom door open. You can hear everything in the hallway while in your room. Beds weren't very comfortable. Years ago this place was fantastic...it is just going downhill. Needs to repairs and replacements for sure. I don't think we'll be back again.

No life guards so kids just ran over top of each other and make it to where the little ones can’t play… it’s also very dark and dreary in the waterpark. The pillows and bed was so uncomfortable and the room was not very clean

We always stay at Holiday Inn Express when we travel.

The water at the hotel was cut off for an entire day and the hot water never came back on before we had to leave. I think they should have forewarned us before we checked in and at the very least offered us a discount for the inconvenience.

How they continuously charged my card. $500 here, $300 there. When I mentioned it to them, they ended up taking more.

Other people staying there kind of ruined the experience. There were very loud people in the room next to us. We booked this hotel for the beautiful pool but we're unable to enjoy it because of one group totally taking it over and acting very rambunctious. We left early because of these issues. I think the pool should be monitored better and people shouldn't be allowed to take the whole thing over for hours at a time preventing other people from enjoying it.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great.

They forgot to give us our wakeup calls for two days in a row. Housekeeping forgot to service our room.

The room smelled musky, probably from the water damage coming from the bathroom. Luke warm water most the time during stay, hot water one day.

Breakfast was ok. Prefer regular scrambled eggs over egg and cheese omelette. Also biscuits were terrible, couldn't eat. Sausages could have been cooked some more. Gravy was good.

Bed and pillows were lumpy and solid, didn't rest well. Handicap shower we didn't request was messy, water got on floor and foot towel, also water pressure was weak and couldn't get hand held to work. Needed another chair preferably a recliner in room to sit on.

The location was great. And the hotel itself was pretty clean. The kids loved the pool. Breakfast was always good.

Our shower curtain had mold/ mildew spots on it and a few of the towels were stained. I think for the price we pay for hotel we should have softer toilet paper.

The pool

Well, we didn’t have any towels in our room.. and also no trash bags for the trash.. the people downstairs were rude and the food downstairs was outrageous 15$ for a candy bar two drinks and a bag of chips was mighty steep.

The facilities were very clean. Breakfast was delicious. Good parking available.

I can't say there was anything I didn't like.

We enjoyed the room because it wasn’t crowded. Had plenty of space and electric outlets. Also the bathroom was large.

Can’t think of anything negative to say about our stay

They charged me twice for a one night stay. I’ve contacted them and book.com and I’ve yet to receive a refund for the second charge.

The cleaning ladies couldn’t speak English so when they knocked on the door they couldn’t understand that I just needed trash taken out and beds made so I just let her in to do whatever. It’s not her fault but I feel as if staff anywhere in the USA should be mandatory they learn our language when working so closely with the public

I had called to make sure in advance that I could get my rooms close together and there was no note about that when I got there and we didn’t get rooms close together but it fine anyways.

The indoor pool was cold, wish it was heated or had a hot tub connected to the pool to help keep water warm.

The room was clean and very spacious. Breakfast was good and the area was clean as well.

The parking was an issues. We ended up parking in the back and the door to get in from the back was broke but still worked and we were not aware of that. So we ended up walking all the way around to the front to get in. Not the best time with a toddler.

Rooms were clean. Beds were good quality.

Breakfast needs a complete rethink. Paper plates, plastic cutlery and same menu everyday is a huge let down. Could add some variety in the menu options. New coffee machine is a must.

We are a family of 4. It was our 3rd family vacation staying at this hotel. We mostly enjoy the location, the breakfast, the cleanliness, and the splash pad. These are the things that keep bringing us back. Coffee and tea being available all day and the activities such as the bird show are nice bonuses as well.

Rooms size is just ok. Bed comfort was average. Our boys look forward to playing arcade games at the hotel and it seems like each year we go, there are less games or more broken games. It would have been nice to have bottled water for purchase at the front desk. These are just small things. If we truly were ever to choose another hotel, the cost per night would probably be the reason.

The five days I was there, they never cleaned my room.

Every employee was super friendly and accommodating without making you feel like you are putting them out. This is rare now days!! I greatly appreciated this.

Staff was over the top friendly and helpful. Great location to downtown. Breakfast was excellent.
