Exceptional. Gorgeous views, great location and staff. Very clean and efficient. Breakfast was delicious
The staff were amazing. The bed was huge and the welcome of dogs was fantastic. The food was also lovely. Pancakes for breakfast one morning and they were the best!
Location, staff amazing, comfort, warm, atmosphere, breakfast huge .
Didn’t clean our room on a 2 night stay at all had to ask for extra t bags ?
fantastic location, rooms very plush staff very friendly and helpful
nothing
The property is located next to lake Windermere with amazing view
The beds where uncomfortable but thats a personal opinion
location, friendly staff, parking!
Location
We are a retired couple in our 70's so it would have been nice if staff had offered to carry our suitcase upstairs. A swimming pool would improve the hotel facilities
Gardens were well maintained and location suited us
Decor and ambience definitely lacking. Staff not that welcoming. We were called to tell us we were being given an upgrade - but ended up with a room at the back of the building with no view. Hotel is definitely in need of an upgrade, some pictures, rugs etc to make it more inviting. Breakfast room was dull and uninteresting, however breakfast was good
Location on the lake , comfortable room
Did not have tv streaming like Netflix Limited food menu , expensive to eat and drink especially when there was a extra 10% surcharge on everything was woken up much earlier than I wanted through noise coming from downstairs dining area
The hotel is absolutely fabulous, sits on stunning grounds that you can explore. Room was big and beautiful, we had everything we could ask for and the bed was super comfy. Truly appreciated the doggy welcome pack as well as the baby toiletries. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant and I must say we were impressed by how delicious the food was. A truly beautiful stay, we are looking forward to visit again!
We loved everything but if I have to pick one thing, I prefer an enclosed shower with glass doors rather than shower curtains.
Location, gardens
Dining, breakfast one end, meals the other. Most employees were lovely, one male was ignorant
The location, the room, the gardens and the breakfast were all superb. Plenty of space to park and within easy reach of Windermere, Ambleside and Bowness

Ligging
We had our wedding at Cragwood in July this year. They went above and beyond to make this day as special as they could. We only had a very small wedding by the lake, however, Mathilda made us feel at ease and no question was ever too much. She communicated with us throughout and was always on hand if we needed anything. We travelled up from Norwich so we had not seen the venue in person, however, it was more than we could have imagined, views were beautiful, venue was gorgeous and we are just so happy to have been able to have our special day here! Thank you again!
The staff were excellent. The food was very good and to a high standard.
In our room the carpets were stained and didn’t look clean. There were not enough Chanel options on the tv with no option to plug in a phone. The dining area furniture was a poor standard.
Friendly staff in the breakfast room. Location of hotel
Noisy. Poor internet.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The gardens are amazing.
The carpets need cleaning in the bedroom and renewing in the main areas. Perhaps consider hard flooring instead of carpeting.
Location Facilities Behavior was good as well
This was a good hotel I don’t think they have much negatives They are good
We had such a lovely stay! The hotel is absolutely beautiful and incredibly pet-friendly. Everyone went out of their way to welcome my dog, she even got introduced to the kitchen team! The front desk was always quick to respond and happy to help with anything we needed. We happened to visit during the heatwave, so sadly hiking wasn’t really an option, but luckily the beautiful surroundings gave my dog plenty to explore and enjoy.
No mini fridge in the room
I loved the gardens and the path down to the Lake was lovely. good open field for my dogs to run in. The bar was well stocked with coffees and teas. Close to Windermere but very busy road. The breakfast was tasty and substantial.
The Hotel was a little dated and could do with a refurbish. could do with some new furniture.
Great location, beautiful view from our room
Nothing to dislike
Poloha/jidlo
Lakeside location, private parklands, room, food and in particular the dog friendly staff. Grace fell I. Love with our dog and got him special treats and lots of attention.

Gorgeous view of the lake, very dog friendly, charming character
We visited during a heat wave and there was no air con so the room got very warm.
Helt fantastisk omgivning, fräscht och trevligt med en fantastisk personal!
The hotels grounds are amazing it has its own private section of the lake. Staff are very friendly.
We had our micro wedding at Cragwood in July and couldn't have asked for a better day. The venue is beautiful, with stunning views across the lake and lovely grounds that made the perfect backdrop for our photos. A huge thank you to Mathilda for all her help during the planning process and to Alice, who was amazing on the day. Nothing was too much trouble and they both helped make the whole experience stress-free. We decided to have a buffet rather than an afternoon tea and we're so glad we did. The food was fantastic and our guests loved it. We're still talking about the brownies! One of the highlights of the day was the lake cruise. Although run by another company, Cragwood arranged everything for us and it was a really special experience. We also stayed in the Bridal Suite, which was lovely and had incredible views. Every member of staff we met, from reception to the bar and restaurant teams, was friendly, welcoming and helpful. A huge thank you to everyone at Cragwood for helping make our wedding day so memorable. We'd recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding venue in the Lake District!
The hotel location is sensational with lovely gardens and a huge frontage of Windermere lake. Our room was very nice with a ground level patio. The building is quite interesting with additions and we needed to go outside to get to the bar and restaurant. This didn’t spoil our stay. We shared a bar meal which was excellent as was our breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel appeared a little understaffed but perhaps this was down to our timing
After looking round several venues in the Lake District we knew straight away this was the perfect venue for our wedding . The venue and its grounds are stunning with views like no other . Our wedding day was just perfect , and was so easy to organise with the help from the wedding team from start to finish. . We chose the Windermere package which includes reception drinks and canapés for us and all our guests on a boat tour of lake Windermere which was a special touch . The food we had was excellent , from the breakfasts to the wedding meal itself everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food . The wedding organisers and hotel staff were all amazing very friendly and made our day very easy and stress free , from decorating our room to organising everything exactly how we wanted . Special mentions to Matilda , Dan, Gracie and Brad who made us feel like family all weekend and nothing was too much trouble . We can not rate this venue highly enough our wedding day was just perfect and the scenery speaks volumes . We will definately be returning in the future to such a wonderful place . Thanks again mr and mrs twigg .
The location is beautiful and the property itself is lovely - a nice combination of stately and intimate
Bar prices were high and the capacity of the kitchen means you need to book in for breakfast or dinner earlier than you think. We didn’t, but the bar food for dinner was good enough.
Where to begin? We had stayed at Cragwood a few times ahead of booking our wedding and we always thoroughly enjoyed our stay. So when it came to finding the perfect venue for our big day, Cragwood was top of the list. From the very beginning of our wedding journey, the Cragwood team were phenomenal. We had several meetings with the wedding co-ordinators, many visits, lots of email chains and the staff were always so welcoming, eager to help and friendly. We put together our perfect package, and the team made it super easy to contact them, make changes, ask questions.. the communication could not have been better. We had exclusive use of the hotel for 2 nights for our wedding which we were very excited about. When we arrived on the Friday, it was a truly warm welcome. Mathilda (wedding co-ordinator) had absolutely everything in hand, putting us at ease, and ensuring we had everything we needed. She was amazing throughout the whole weekend! As a very organised bride, l had absolutely nothing to worry about. I was able to focus on my big day with complete relaxation! The whole team, were beyond accommodating towards us and our guests. We could honestly not be more grateful. The team are so friendly, humourous and helpful. A special mention to Grace who is just an absolute star.. my goodness that lady goes above and beyond. So many of our guests had compliments for her due to her kind, chatty nature. The day after our wedding while feeling a little worse for wear.. Grace took such good care of us and even managed to get us into our room a little earlier than check-in which was much appreciated! Our wedding day was beyond compare.. the venue and the grounds are just stunning. The team work hard to maintain the upkeep of the gardens, and hotel and it really shows. Our photos are unbelievable. Our wedding breakfast was the talk of the day! Everyone absolutely loved the food.. it was just.. exceptional. Everything ran flawlessly.. as discussed, as expected.. as we had hoped. The day was without a doubt.. perfect. Thank you so much Cragwood team you are wonderful and we can’t wait to come back and stay again ☺️
Amazing peaceful setting, beautiful building, great staff and room
Nothing, all good

Lovely building close to the lake, staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.
Rooms need upgrading, they are tired.
فندق هادي وجميل ومرافق رائعة. اطلالات وجلسات متنوعة على البحيرة ومناطق للمشي. فطور رائع.

Spectacular view from grounds over Windermere.
Expensive fixed-price dinner which was not as good quality as the ticket price suggested. Very oriented to Wedding parties.
We held our wedding here on the 6th July 2026 and wow just wow it was such an amazing day we got.married outside followed by a afternoon tea on the terrace. The grou is where amazing and look fab on my wedding photos I would definitely recommend cragwood to anyone looking to get married in the perfect setting with attentive and amazing staff.
너무나 예쁜, 쾌적한 호텔
reception,식당 찾기가 어려웠고 (미로 같아서)
What an amazing wedding venue! We recently had our wedding at the Cragwood and it was amazing. All the staff and team were great right from the beginning. Mathilda our wedding co-ordinator helped us through every step on the build up and on the day the entire team were so kind and helpful. The gardens are beautiful and we were lucky enough to have the wisteria out on our wedding day. We couldn't recommend the venue highly enough. Thank you to the whole team at the Cragwood for being such a huge part of our special day!!!
The location and the building from the outside, a beautiful manor house.
Breakfast was poor, the continental options was basically empty, the decor of the hotel is dated as well as the furniture in the room.
Gorgeous day in July. We visited the hotel and they were preparing for a wedding, but nothing was too much trouble for the team. Our meals - mainly fish and chips were served piping hot. We had a leisurely walk down to the boat house and the lake afterwards. Perfect setting. Will call again.
There aren’t enough complimentary words to describe Cragwood and its staff! From the gardener to the cleaner to front of house the people were exemplorary. The hotel is chilled and quite and beautiful, the views from every corner and stunning. The grounds are manicured and pretty and the lake lapping at the bottom of the garden is just the icing on the cake! If you’re looking for a place to unwind and be looked after then Cragwood is for you.
Had the wonderful pleasure of having afternoon tea here yesterday. 6 ladies who were all blown away by the whole experience. Grace & Sara were extremely professional, welcoming, friendly and fun. The food served to us, was absolutely amazing & well presented. We even joked by asking if there was any leftovers in the kitchen we could take home with us. We would recommend Cragwood for the afternoon tea in such beautiful grounds to everyone. Thank you so much for making it special.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, everything was clean, our room was quiet, and the grounds were beautiful. Breakfast was also superb.
Staff especially Grace , and location is fabulous
A true experience in an English Country Manor. Beautiful garden. Nice breakfast and friendly staff.
Nothing
Wonderful staff who went the extra mile. Lovely breakfast. Comfortable bed! Really enjoyed my stay.
جميل جداً وحديقة الفندق رائعة ع البحيرة
The staff at the hotel were very pleasant, and the location and gardens beautiful. However, the pictures on the website are misleading, the hotel is dated and shabby and in need of refurbishment. The carpet and chairs in our room were dirty and marked. The food was very good but the ambience was not special - we were addressed as guys and there was no dress code so other diners were wearing shorts, trainers and T-shirts which does not make for a special atmosphere. We also suffered other guests talking loudly and smoking under our window late and night and early morning. We didn’t appreciate the yapping dog at breakfast or the 40 minute wait for breakfast either!
Location and the well maintained gardens
Nobody ever answered the phone ahead of my arrival and there was a general lack of staff presence whilst at the property.
The staff were lovely and helpful and so welcoming. The location was just gorgeous.
I felt the hotel and grounds needs a little TLC in some areas and wider gardens . They seemed abit neglected and unloved .

The location close to the shore of Lake Windermere was beautiful and the gardens were a delight to walk around. A perfect base to explore the Lake District.
Our room 10 was situated between the cleaners store on one side and stairs on the other side to a staff room, which exposed us to noise at times well into the night. The staff were unable to find a better located room.
The ground were nice.
The hotel is just soo dated. A big refurbishment is needed.
Great location with a short walk to the lake, beautiful rooms and very comfortable. Delicious food, All the staff were very friendly and attentive.
We had our wedding here at the start of June and it was absolutely perfect. From the booking right through to our big day Hannah and Mathilda were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. During our stay all of the staff were great, we had no stress or worries about a thing. The day went perfectly, we even managed the start the ceremony inside then out to the terrace for the vows as the sun came out. We cannot recommend the Cragwood high enough, we had a perfect few days and a perfect wedding day x
We honestly could not thank everyone at Cragwood enough for making our wedding so special. Everyone went over and above without question. We had the Just Us package and had 6 adult guests and our two boys. 2 nights stay in the beautiful hotel with breakfasts, dinners and an afternoon tea... absolutely nothing to plan or sort when we got there it was all taken care of. Hannah was just brilliant from start to finish, going the extra mile to make everything perfect. The food was beautiful, the restaurant staff were great (particularly the South African gentleman who's name I've forgotten!) we just had a wonderful time. Thank you all so much, we will see you again for an anniversary stay I'm sure!
Clean room, good breakfast.
Small room with poor view. Monsoon shower only, no handset and tricky controls.
Wow! Such a beautiful place ,me and my daughter spent time researching the history of the house so interesting. We were amazed at beautiful the house is and the gardens, so much love and care has gone into keeping it looking so beautiful by the lovely gardener we got chatting to. The staff, Helen, thank you so much for making our stay so perfect, going above and beyond to make my daughter’s special birthday stay so very beautiful. Room no 6 was a magical, she was living her twilight dream with those early morning views , And the restaurant and bar staff thank you for the cocktails, chats and laughs!! You were all so fabulous, we hope to be back one day the 8 hour drive was so very worth it !!!❤️
Nothing
The location was amazing, very close to Lake Windermere. The grounds were picturesque with plenty of space to go for walks or take in the view.
I would have given a score of 10 rather than 9, but the room next door kept leaving their dog in the room alone and the dog constantly barked and whimpered (without taking a breath!). It kind of ruined the tranquility of the hotel vibe.
Extremely dog friendly and accommodating. Wires were amazing!

We got married here in 2016 and have been here on several occasions since. We had booked a three night stay last year and booked an extra night more recently, for our tenth anniversary. Sadly my wife’s father became ill at the beginning of last week and was hospitalised, putting the trip in doubt. I left it to the last minute, Friday before our check in to make a decision, whether or not to attend. The hotel manager told us we could drop two night and attend Sunday and Monday. However, this meant that we were paying nearly £250 per night. So imagine my surprise at being told I had to make my own toast for the two poached eggs I requested for breakfast today, as two plain poached eggs were dropped on a plate and placed in front of me this morning. Yesterday, I was presented with poached eggs on toast on a plate, however the poached eggs weren’t on the toast??? £250 per night and I had to make my own toast! I’m a little disappointed with a place that obviously means so much to us. It’s left us thinking not to stay there again.
Der wunderbare Park , die tolle Lage und die englischen Ausstrahlung . Der Aufenthalt war sehr passend für die Gegend .

Traditional, comfortable, clean hotel with warm and friendly staff who make you feel very welcome and cannot do enough to help you.
Nothing
My room did not have a view, but was very comfortable with had all that i needed. The breakfast was lovely, would have been good to have a few more gluten free options. Will stay again
nothing
The hotel had upgraded my room without charging me extra, and it was a gorgeous room! Both staff members that I've talked to were super kind and welcoming. The view from the windows was very pretty.
The bath tub and shower were a bit difficult to figure out at first. And a metal piece had fallen out from somewhere and I didn't know what it was.
Lovely hotel, free parking, very friendly and helpful staff. Room clean and comfortable. Breakfast delicious with vegetarian option. Lovely short walk from hotel through the garden to the shore of the lake. Would definitely stay again.
Attentive staff, gorgeous grounds, and lovely views. Clean room, comfy large bed. Staff were very accommodating provided a mini fridge and iron on request and even rang to let me know I had left a bracelet.
Very over priced and Ambleside and Windermere are both far away, no local shops or anything nearby. Not much hot water for a shower, shower over bath and bath doesn’t drain shower water away enough. Small average room for the price and small tv. £18 for a double gin, bar food menu limited and quite pricey. Paid £370 for two nights with no breakfast.
A real mixed bag this place. We had the 4 poster bedroom with lake view and it was beautiful, as were the grounds and scenery outside the hotel. But inside was very dated, old brown carpet all through the hotel, like going to your nans house as a young kid. That kind of decor. The prices were also insane! We’re not frugal by any means and have no problem spending over the odds if it’s worth it, but £55 for 2 small, cold sandwiches one with just salad in it and 2 cocktails, one of which was wrong, (asked for a mojito, received a rum with lemonade) this after not having the ingredients in stock for the cocktail I actually wanted, was crazy. Also £9.20 for one pint, beyond London prices. It just doesn’t add up, especially when there’s a 10% service charge added every time you want something from the bar. The evening meal was quite nice and enjoyable, but at breakfast there was over a 45 minute wait and had gone off my appetite by the time it arrived..and with only 3 other groups at breakfast at this time it’s hard to justify the delay.
The extensive grounds and lakeside access. The breakfast selection and quality. The friendly character of the place. The location generally for easy access to Bowness, Ambleside and other lakes. Good free parking. Friendly and helpful staff.
Difficult to find entrance from road particularly at night...lights needed on gate pillars. Somewhat bland and dated decor throughout. Specifically to our ground floor room 23...rather dark and gloomy. Bedside lighting for reading difficult to access and not very bright. Other light switches quite a stretch from bed. Wetroom shower very messy...perhaps good for disabled people but we are not. This room had been offered by Booking .com as an upgrade for which we were not charged but looking round at say room 17 we would have been better with original and had a proper bath. When mentioned an alternative room offered but we had a lot of stuff to move so declined. The set menu at £59 was very well presented and cooked but at that price supplements for tiny scallop..one.. starter and £12 extra for cheeseboard albeit excellent..seemed excessive. Though not mentioned on menu 10% service charge was added and only on querying was I told that it is mentioned on booking details and was optional. The whole with some wine came out at £176 for 2.. after service charge removed.
Beautiful gardens going down to the lake - carefully planted and maintained. Incredibly friendly staff. Curious building with quirky staircases and large formal rooms. Drinks on the terrace overlooking Lake Windermere - what's not to like. Oh and great food, served efficiently. Very pet friendly and sympathetic with our very old dog.
All good
Attended for a wedding ...highly recommend as a wedding venue Fantastic the rooms were clean and comfortable and great cleaning service .... the location is spectacular from sun rise to sun set just a few minutes walk to the lake ..breat taking views. The staff were second to none welcoming, would do anything for you and big shout out to Grace ..who was making sure we had plenty of cups off tea and gin 😊 she was funny, attentive and fitted in perfectly ..thank you grace we would come back just because of your service ...I will go again ..imagining afternoon tea on that terrace ..perfect ..thank you to all the staff from cleaning. Reception, bar staff to just everyone
Everything was way above any standard we have ever experienced before. Just beautiful in every way with wonderful staff and amenities.
No a thing
Beautiful house in a beautiful setting. So peaceful. Breakfast was amazing. Enjoyed walking in the gardens and down to the lake
Nothing
Hartelijk ontvangst bij de balie, prima kamer. Ontzettend mooie tuin om het gebouw. Mooi statig landhuis. Erg hondvriendelijk. Mooi terras erbij. Je kon een bar maaltijd bestellen. Maar er was ook restaurant gedeelte.
Niets.
Beautiful hotel with stunning views of Lake Windermere & very well kept grounds. Friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in a ground floor room number 23 for 2 nightd due to my husbands disability. Beautiful little patio & lucky to have great weather sitting out in the sunshine. Easy access, large comfortable room, shower seat & room. Breakfast was lovely with hot & cold selection. Grace was very helpful with ideas on where to go & always very friendly. Great accessible parking
Location was very good for travelling around the Lakes, and the gardens / views were lovely.
fantastic location and very comfortable hotel. It's not cheap but well worth it.
Lovely property and staff serving breakfast in the morning were very accommodating. Dog friendly as well which is always good for us.
Be aware that outside the dog rooms there is an unused small swimming pool which is empty but has woodland/weather debris in. Very muddy!!! Be cautious if you are walking with young children or have a dog that likes to swim!! Incidentally you are near the lake at the bottom of the hill. Our dog played deaf and forgot stay command!! 🐾🤣🐾😈
Would come again and recommend friends as well.
Beautiful grounds and hotel. Staff are so warm and friendly. Breakfast was nice and we saw guests get flasks for their walks which was a nice touch. Rooms were spotless and good tea and coffee facilities. Only downside was dogs were allowed in the hotel and they woke us up barking despite moving rooms. The walls are thin and doors were banging at 4am.
Excellent stay. Staff were very kind, helpful, attentive. Bedroom was very good, comfortable.. Terrace lovely, grounds immaculate, view amazing. Had good sunny weather and it was a great place to relax and have lunch. Thank you everyone for making my stay so good. Carole

Our second visit to Cragwood was even better than our first. Lovely, spotlessly clean room (and I'm fussy!) with plenty of space and a wonderfully powerful shower. The grounds in springtime are just gorgeous. The food is delicious (though we really wish the menu changed more often - even just one new dish each night or couple of nights would be great. We would stay longer if it did). The staff are so friendly. It is beginning to feel like home! We will be back.
The room was comfortable and clean but a little on the small side, especially the bathroom. The view of the lake from our window was impressive and walks around the grounds were very pleasant. Dinner in the fine dining room was excellent and breakfast was also very good. The staff were all very friendly.
The sound insulation between our room and the adjoining room was poor, mainly due to the interconnecting door. We were able to hear virtually every word from the guests in the adjoining room, which was far from ideal.
We have just got back from our stay at the magnificent cragwood country house. Everything was amazing from start to finish, Massive shoutout to Sarah who served us during our stay and the receptionist Helen, both girls was lovely and Sarah delivered amazing service . Can’t wait to return
Food was good, house and grounds are beautiful and in a wonderful location along the lake. Lady at the bar taking food and drink order was lovely.
Room had fleas and my legs and hand were all bitten during my stay, when informing the staff about this I was told I was wrong and no follow up regarding the matter. Room was tiny and not very clean. No staff on reception during check in and had to wait a while even when pressing the bell to inform them.
The friendly staff looked after us brilliantly. Our room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The food was excellent with a good choice at every meal. The situation of the hotel is breathtaking with beautiful gardens. It is perfectly situated in central Lakes.
The room was quite big, and view was nice.Outside was glorious, lovely gardens and views
The bed was uncomfortable, didn't look presentable. 2 english tea bags not enough, they are a cheap commodity. Door didn't shut properly. The whole place looked dark and needs an uplift! Was surprised to see dogs in the dining area where there is food. Some were a little yappie as well
Wonderfull hotel, great staff, views and scenery were amazing here. The breakfast was fantastic.
Very expensive bar prices.
Great location close to lake Windermere but secluded enough that there were no tourists around. The hotel and room was excellent and we really enjoyed the room and the amenities provided.
Clean, spacious room, warm clean toilet
Decor a little old
The grounds and location were beautiful and the actual room was spacious
The walls are paper thin and you could hear everything from other rooms. The bathroom is tiny and I had to reach above my head to get toilet paper, if you were a large person you wouldn’t have been able to go to the toilet in the room we had. Service was slow had to wait for ages to get a drink, when I finally got my drink the glass was dirty and had lipstick on it which was rectified once I pointed it out.
Stunning view, spotless room, lovely staff, nice old building
Privacy and noise, we can even hear other people farting, there are doors in each room between the rooms (emergency!!!!)
We stayed at the Cragwood for 2 nights for my daughters wedding. The hotel is nicely decorated and very clean the rooms are lovey and the views are amazing. The bathroom for our room (a lake view room) was very small but did have everything we needed. The lake view rooms are situated right above the bar area so might get noisy later at night if there is an event on. The views and location cannot be beaten, its a wonderful setting for a celebration. We could not fault the food everything was delicious. The breakfast and 5 course menu was outstanding and the drinks are reasonably priced for this type of venue. The staff are amazing! They can't do enough for you and are very polite. Grace especially, she is a great credit to this hotel. Would definitely consider staying here for a weekend away.
Beautiful location, comfortable hotel and welcoming staff. Genuinely dog-friendly. We had a very relaxing stay.
