Hotel and room decor is so lovely. One of the most comfy beds and pillows I’ve ever had. Nice hot shower. Breakfast was lovely and good range. Lovely staff. Great location.

Only reason it’s not a 10 is because no elevator and I stayed on the top floor. There’s also no offer to help carry your bags there. Now imagine if I was disable how is that accessible

The staff on reception were all nice. The room was quiet at the back of the property. Room generally clean. Shower was hot and good pressure. Bed fairly comfortable. Curtains provided good black out. It was good to get a carpark space at the rear of the property.

Pillows appeared to be puffy but you went very flat and you just sunk in. Just not comfortable for my husband or I. Fan in bathroom was very noisy. Cracked tiles and missing grout on bathroom floor, not hygienic. Could have done with another spot light above the table where the kettle/coffee machine was. If you wanted to use the mirror to dry your hair or put makeup on it was too dark. We didn't pay for breakfast with booking.com but decided to go down first day and pay as a walk in. Three other couples had their orders taken before us, even though we were there longer. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast and asked for gluten free. When it arrived it had no white pudding or sausage, frozen spinach which was cold inside and poached eggs that had been cooked previously and were barely warm. If I had been informed that the sausage and white pudding couldn't be substituted they should have at least offered me something else, not just left it off the plate. When I complained, I eventually got an avocado as a sort of apology although this came after I'd eaten what I was having off the plate. My husband didn't rate his either. No toast included. If you stay I would advise you find somewhere else for breakfast as you'll get much better value for money.

We had a small problem with the air conditioning. Which was turned off during the night from the fron desk. And having asked for it to be turned back on on our second night it was again turned off during the night.

The whole ambience of the hotel and location

Basin in the bathroom was too small and tap stuck up to much , had a difficult time shaving without getting water on the floor. Some of the lights in the bathroom didn’t work as did the extraction fan. Electronic key didn’t work when we returned at night, so had to go back to reception.

The location was excellent. The bed was incredibly comfortable. There were lots of goodies in the room to make the stay luxurious- high end toiletries, coffee maker, tea and little vegan cakes, ironing board, quality hairdryer. etc. excellent buffet continental breakfast. Staff very approachable and helpful.

It was rather dark and dingy in the building which felt a bit oppressive. Everywhere was painted in very dark colours with little daylight.

All the room doors are very loud and there was constant banging of doors. It was not a peaceful stay unfortunately There were stains on the interiors and a lot of the panelling had paint chipped, it looked very tired and shabby. The room had an odour which wasn’t pleasant Also no lift. I was on the top floor and if you have a lot luggage it makes it challenging

the george is the best hotel in cheltenham. we had to check in at 1AM and it was no problem. great air conditioning, showers, and very comfy beds. we will come back for sure

Sadly our room looked clean but there were places quite dirty and sticky. the box for tea making was very low having only one english breakfast tea- other tea selection very good, and only two sachets sugar. Milk nice idea fresh but had ran out by morning so no first cuppa in bed which is a treat when away! The sink drained very slowly due to some blockage but i did report that.

Stairs were very steep, no lift and I arrived late after a long drive and struggled up lots of stairs with my little doggie and my luggage and the night porter didn’t seem too clued up on how to get to my room.

The staff were very accommodating and even upgraded our room.

I wish a cooked breakfast was included.

The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve had in a hotel. I liked the little homemade sweet treats left with the coffee.

Classy place. For some reason, I thought this was going to be another pub accommodation but it's a nice hotel. Well air conditioned and beautifully decorated, friendly staff and great breakfast. Close to the centre but on a less busy side street. Lovely cool room with lots of nice details.

It was probably stated when I booked this room but it was small. We struggled to find room for our luggage once we started unpacking things.

It was a clean, modern, stylish and thoughtfully decorated property. Sleep comfort was great, everything worked. Continental breakfast ingredients were good quality.

Extortionate £15 charge for a continental breakfast which wasn’t made clear on the Booking app and so much so that it was included in an email after I booked that it was only a Continental. At £15 I’d have never booked that. If you book direct you get cooked breakfast included (also worth up to another £15 for add on items) but not on Booking. This isn’t the first time something similar has happened where it’s become really unattractive to book through Booking.com and just use the website as a search engine instead - the price difference used to get as a Genius Level 3 member seems to be a thing of the past, better value to book direct.

It was easy to find, in a convenient spot close to center of town. The AC worked well and the breakfast was good.

They did not have enough on site parking for the number of guests this weekend. And the fan in the bathroom would periodically make a loud speaking noise.

A lot of issues with the room. AC broken, shower fell off the wall, plug blocked, toilet seat broken, damp smell, bathroom door didn’t close. Said you could buy vanity kit downstairs but actually couldn’t.

I paid £208 for one night and was slightly disappointed in the morning to find that I had to pay extra for a poached egg. Arrival was fine. The room is really close to reception, though, and there were a lot of people that had enjoyed the football and managed to wake me up. That is not the hotel's fault. My shower room was okay. It looks lovely. Everything is very tastefully done. It's a great looking hotel, but I've got used to having a sink I can shave in, and this one was a bit too small. The shower was good. I was disappointed to find that I had a number of creepy crawlies who appeared when I got into bed: tiny little gray bugs. Not sure what they were, but they didn't bite me. I was still a bit surprised to find them in the bed linen. I reported this discreetly to the hotel staff when I went down for breakfast and suggested that we should have a chat in private. They made some notes, but I haven't heard from them since.

Daft stuff like it's really difficult to shave in a sink that's probably designed for a downstairs loo in the UK. The bedroom is nice. It will look great, but I didn't like the bugs.

The room was on the stairwell by the entrance though and was quite loud at times. I had to poke my head out the door to ask other guests to quiet down at one point.

There is a nicely tiled bathroom with a tile warning you that the water is hot, which is great except for the fact that there was NO cold water! Stayed 4 nights & reminded a different staff person every day but it was never fixed. Two lights were out in the bathroom & one in the bedroom so it was quite dim. Reminded the staff about this every day, too. Dirty towels were removed but not replaced which I didn’t realize until I got in the shower…

we were in room 8 which is possibly the noisiest room due to its location. It wasn`t the staff in reception but other visitors who would stand at the bottom of the stairs talking loudly being inconsiderate.

The breakfast was one of the best we have ever had at a hotel - and we have stayed in many. Every item was a quality product and simply delicious. The coffee was superb. The pastries proper butter ones (not the cheap ones most hotels serve). The orange juice was, quite literally, squeezed in front of you etc. etc. We could not rate it highly enough.

The room was rather dusty. I think the dark painted wood panelling probably looks fabulous for a while then gets worn easily and attracts dust that is difficult to clean. We appreciated the style but it attracted the dust.

Its location in Cheltenham - wide range of breakfast choices inc cooked English breakfast. Excellent dinner at its sister hotel - No 38 - although it’s not a stroll as its website states! Taxi drive away for sure!

Unfortunately our room was noisy from some serious plumbing issues above our bathroom and a cold tap in the bathroom not working at all! Issues reported.

Everything was stunning. The hotel itself is a beautiful old building, the staff were extremely warm and welcoming, and we felt like special guests! The room, albeit small, was exactly right for us, along with a very spacious bathroom. The interior designer of the hotel has done a wonderful job!

At breakfast, we both had just mushrooms and scrambled egg, and were charged for the full continental breakfast, over £30. When I complained on checkout, we were instead charged £9.50 each, which is still ridiculous for the tiny breakfast we had -- we only wanted a small portion before a long drive, nearly £10 each for egg and mushroom is terrible. It put a bit of a dampner on the visit, but I would still very much visit again.

Windows only opened a crack so dependent upon aircon which was noisy and dripped when off. Bathroom was super hot so counteracted any coolness in the room.

Driving up to the hotel it was apparent that this was not a true representation of the images shown …dirty unkempt drive and windows .. overflowing dustbins to the left of the hotel… alarm bells started to ring…internal hotel displayed instantly their poor hygiene…. As stated in our previous report dangerous/perilous stairs accompanied by poor lighting and shabby frayed carpet would not pass health and safety … this is definitely NOT a 4 star hotel .. as long term users we can say without hesitation the hotel is rundown and is not up-to booking.coms usual portfolio/standard therefore,regarding health and safety we thought it appropriate to phone booking.com for alternative accommodation but they could not comply with our wishes therefore we felt it prudent/obliged regarding the health of our party to find alternative accommodation at great expense to ourselves therefore we feel it is encumbant upon booking.com to refund all monies as soon as possible

Great location, steps from the centre of town. Very nice room, although very small. Good continental breakfast and possibility of hot breakfast against 5 gbp. We were happy with the continental: bread, fruits, youghurt, overnight oats, pastries and coffee.

Room was very small, difficult to get to my side of the bed and room for suitcases. Although they made the most of it with an office desk, coffee machine etc. TV was half hidden behind a big mirror, that was odd. Bathroom was nice, but had no shelves for our toilet bags. Overall a very nice hotel. Would stay again, but pay for a bigger room.

Hotel is tired. Room of our daughter was damp due to leaking aircon.

Location was good with respect to its proximity to the Cotswold Way hiking path. Very small town with essentially only the hotel as far as services in the area. But overall, the bar and restaurant were amazing so it's all we really needed.

I hadn't noted that continental breakfast was what I had booked (through booking.com). The room was nice but it was very small for things like my case/clothes etc. Also the shower wasn't easy to work (with the 2 shower heads). As I was in a double room single occupancy, it is always expensive for me.

Het vriendelijke personeel, de ligging en het ontbijt. Dat was echt top!

Op re foto’s is het erg mooi. Maar het ziet er in het echt al behoorlijk afgeleefd uit. Versleten vloerbedekking op de kamer en in het trappenhuis. Douche kon niet blijven hangen tijden het douchen. Hele kleine kamer die niet in verhouding was met de prijs.

The sink in the bathroom was too small to make it easy to have a shave.
