Amazing little spot- a calm room where you can read and sit and enjoy the outside area, private and shared onsen was great! Beautiful space, staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Food was wonderful! Even the shuttle bus back to the station was a lovely addition.

Yufuin Hoteiya is ideally located in a very quiet tranquil spot just a few minutes drive from the bustling Yufuin pedestrian tourist street. Our room at Yufuin Hoteiya was excellent with private indoor and outdoor baths. In addition, there are several large public baths around the property which guests could use during their stay.

1. 위치가 정말 좋았습니다. 유후인 거리와 긴린코 호수 모두 산책하기 편했고, 36번 버스 다케모토 정류장도 가까워서 유후다케나 시다카 호수, 벳푸까지 이동하기 좋았습니다. 2. 온천물이 인상적이었습니다. 유황향이 강한 타입은 아니고 맑은 물인데도 몸이 금방 따뜻해지고 혈액순환이 잘 되는 느낌이 있었습니다. 한국 목욕탕과는 확실히 다른 온천 특유의 편안함이 있었습니다. 3. 물 온도가 매우 적절했습니다. 너무 뜨겁지 않은 정도라 오래 들어가기 좋았고, 하루 어느 시간에 이용해도 온도가 일정해서 만족스러웠습니다. 4. 3박이라 음식이 반복될까 걱정했는데 매일 메뉴가 달랐고, 마지막 날 조식을 제외하면 전체적으로 만족스러웠습니다. 요리장님이 음식을 하신다고 했습니다. 5. 직원분들도 대부분 친절했습니다. 한국어를 하시는 직원분들과 영어를 하시는 직원분들 모두 정말 다정하십니다.

1. 후기에서 많이 봤던 웰컴티 서비스는 따로 없었습니다. 2. 방 안에 벌레가 조금 보였습니다. 자연과 가까운 료칸 특성상 이해는 했지만, 벌레에 민감한 분들은 참고하시면 좋겠습니다. 3. 객실 욕탕으로 올라가는 길 근처에 동물 배설물처럼 보이는 것이 있어 조금 신경 쓰였습니다. 4. 객실 테이블과 의자가 좌식 위주라 부모님께서는 편하게 앉아 계시기 어려워하셨습니다. 연세 있는 분들은 의자가 있는 구조가 더 편할 것 같습니다. 우리 부모님은 계속 침대에 걸터앉아 계셨습니다. 5. 팝콘튀겨먹는 것은 첫날 하루만 했습니다. 팝콘 아저씨가 그렇게 환영해주시는 분은 아니고, 설명도 없고, 인사도 없고 처음부터 방어적으로 진상 손님을 경계하는 느낌이라 매번 가고싶지않았습니다. 이건 개인적인 느낌이라 오해일 수도 있으나 다른 리뷰에서도 팝콘 아저씨에 대한 부정적 언급이 있는게 보이긴 합니다. 그리고 팝콘을 다 튀기고 비닐에 옮겨담아주시는데, 본인 손으로 턱턱집어서 넣다가 바깥에 털어진 팝콘도 집어서 비닐에 넣어 건네주더군요. 비위생적입니다. 호테이야에서 응대 교육을 좀 하시면 어떨까 싶네요. 6. 마지막 날 조식이 빵과 스프 중심의 서양식 메뉴였는데, 미리 선택 가능 여부를 물어봐 주셨으면 더 좋았을 것 같습니다. 저희 가족은 밥을 선호하는 편이라 조금 아쉬웠습니다. 또한 스프에서 비닐 조각이 나왔는데, 두 그릇에서 동일하게 발견되어 당황스러웠습니다. 7. 해당 내용을 직원분께 말씀드렸을 때 처음에는 가볍게 받아들이는 느낌이 있었고, 이후에야 사과를 받았습니다. (식당 직원에게 스프에서 비닐이 나왔다말했으나 주방에서 그런거라며 별거아닌듯 웃어넘김. 내가 어떻게 내꺼랑 엄마스프 두군데서 비닐이 나오냐, 스프 거의 다 먹은 시점에 비닐이 입에서 나왔다고 한번더 말하니 그제서야 작은 목소리로 스미마셍함. 소년같은 직원분.) 다른 직원분들은 전반적으로 친절했기에 이 부분은 조금 아쉽게 남았습니다. 8. 체크아웃 시 숙박에 대한 간단한 피드백이나 불편 사항을 묻는 과정은 없었습니다. 마지막 날 조식 문제나 객실 관련 이야기를 전달하고 싶었는데 그런 분위기는 아니어서 조금 아쉽게 느껴졌습니다.

Our stay at ryokan Hoteiya was truly a wonderful experience for me and my family. The room was spacious, with a private hot spring bath where I spent most of my time soaking and relaxing. Even though the outdoor temperature was only around 10 degree C, the room stayed warm and the bath water was always hot, making the experience perfectly comfortable. The Kaiseki dinner was an unforgettable highlight: a private dining room with windows overlooking terraced fields, beautifully presented dishes, and a burst of flavors in every bite. The ryokan also offers private public baths; room 1 was set up beautifully with a semi-open design and garden elements, but it was occupied when I arrived, so I used room 2 instead. While still nice, I couldn’t help but feel a little regret about missing room 1. Fortunately, the private bath in our room was also semi-open, which made up for it. Since it was raining, we didn’t have much time to enjoy the backyard and outdoor relaxation area under the trees. Nevertheless, overall this was a truly wonderful experience, and I am completely satisfied and deeply appreciate the hospitality and attention to detail at ryokan Hoteiya.

The staff were very warm and helpful. After checking-in, we were given a map to explore the town with many unique shops nearly. Upon our return, we found our room well prepared with our luggage inside. We were impressed with our Japanese dinner from the start to finish, carefully served by our young waitress in a private room. The same goes for the delicious Japanese breakfast the next morning. The location of the hotel was perfect to explore the town. We were very happy with our stay.

The shower was very hot and the temperature cannot be adjusted.

We absolutely loved our room. It was a small house with our own private onsen. It even had a river with fish coming into the private onsen area. Also, the staff was incredibly nice. We also loved the heated floors.

Since the shower was outside by the onsen and the sink and toilet areas were outside the main sleeping area, those sections were a little cold.

Sadly, this ryokan has become a tourist trap, catered to foreigners. Definitely not an authentic experience. One of the staff was extremely ill, shouldn't have been at work. He started coughing all over us whilst showing us the room. I'm not blaming him, I'm blaming the management for not sending him back home on sick leave. Sadly Japan isn't great at that either. The meal wasn't impressive either and service was terrible. I've rarely been this dissappointed in Japan.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Greetings and smiles everyday. Walkable to lake kirin and shopping streets. Rooms were great, just abit noisy as our room is near two public bath. Breakfast was ok, not the fancy type. Overall stay was great

Breakfast can have more varieties or can ask if customer have dietary restrictions or preference.

숙소에서 제공한 조식과 석식 가이세키는 정말 훌륭했습니다. 2박을 한 것이 탁월한 선택이었습니다! 또한, 방 내부에 있는 노천 온천도 좋았지만 숙소 바로 앞과 옆에 있던 온천 2개는 너무 이용하기가 좋았습니다. 걷는 것을 좋아해서 유후인 버스 터미널에서 숙소까지 20분 정도의 거리를 걷는 것도 저에게는 나쁘지 않았습니다. 걷는 것을 좋아하는 사람이라면 유노츠보거리를 걸어서 긴린 호수를 방문했다가 호테이야 숙소로 가는 것을 매추 추천합니다!! 아, 물론 숙소에서 송영 서비스가 있기 때문에 편하게 가실 수도 있습니다 .^^ 전 갈 때는 걸어서 갔고 집에 돌아오는 아침에는 송영 서비스를 이용했습니다~

아쉬웠던 점은 크게 없습니다. 2박을 이용하면서 불편한 점도 없었습니다.

Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient in their tasks. Location was just a 5mins walk to Yufuin Flora Village. Fresh yummy bottled milk was provided every morning as well as eggs, sweet potatoes, senbei and toasted marshmallows in the evening in designated areas. The room we booked came with private onsen and western beds as well as spared tatami futons. Coffee, tea, hot flask water as well as refrigerated cold bottled water were all provided for in the room. Enjoyed our 2 nights stay.

お風呂がかけ流しで清潔でとてもよかった 泉質もやわらかで　お肌すべすべ系 とても気持ちよかったです。 おまけに貸切露天で贅沢です

夕飯が少し　値段の割に貧弱だった 年寄りの女性でそう感じました。 若い世代や男性は物足りないと思います 物価高だとしても、もう少し努力が欲しい ネットの写真と全然違う

三種類のお風呂に入浴できました。 お風呂の前の使用中、空き札　風情があり良かったです。 バスタオル、フェイスタオル、お風呂セットを入れるカバンがほてい様の書いてあり、可愛かったので購入しました。 ほていさま、運を良くしていければ思います。

レコード鑑賞できる。 前もって知っていればききたかったです。 チックアウトする時に他のお客さんがきかれていたので、残念

Everything about the property was incredible from the room to the food to the staff. I assume the greenery makes everything more visually appealing in summer or spring or autumn, but I think winter is the time to go because the outdoor baths are simply magical in the cold air. The food was quite literally worth writing home about, I bought local post cards and did just that. The staff was wonderfully helpful and accommodating, and there was always someone who spoke English well enough to answer any question or concern I had with no confusion. I did find the covers on the bed to not be quite large enough, but I’m 195cm tall so I very well might just not be on the right scale for this country. Or any country XD

loved the whole experience! perfect location just off the shopping street and lake. easy stop from the bus from beppu (we didn’t need to go to yufuin station first). they let us drop off our bags so we could explore, and when we got back to check in they had everything set up in our room. loved our private cedar bath and both the first come first serve private baths. breakfast and dinner were both fantastic and we loved the milk in the morning. staff were amazing and kind!!!

Great food, accommodation was very spacious with 2 private baths en-suite, one indoor and one outdoor. There are also other onsen baths within the property you could use for your family - on a first come first served basis. Location was great for exploring Yufuin with all major sights within a 10-15 min walking distance. Staff was attentive and helpful. Meal portions are just right, and the ryokan also provides hard boiled eggs and sweet potatoes for guests. Guests could also participate in popcorn and roasted mochi making after dinner.

観光地に程近く、非日常感を味わえる。 スタッフの皆さんの温かい接客がとても嬉しかった。 3カ所の貸切風呂も良く、客室露天風呂もとても素敵で良かった。 また他の宿泊客とすれ違うことが少なく、敷地内も丁度良い距離感でフロントや食事処へアクセスもしやすく良かった。

ほとんど無いです。 強いていうなら10時チェックアウトが名残惜しかった。 11時でしたら更に嬉しかったです。

Wonderful place to stay in a quiet but great location for all the Yufuin attractions. Food was absolutely exceptional, beautifully presented and superb quality. We absolutely loved the outdoor onzen. The accommodation was really spacious and even contained an indoor and outdoor bath. Could not more highly recommend this place. Exceptional value for money. We didn't want to leave!

Le personnel est très serviable : échanges par mails avant le séjour et très attentionné lors du séjour. Onsen extérieur privatisé pour 40 mn : une belle découverte. Le dîner est délicieux et très joliment présenté avec un cérémonial pour l'apport des plats. Je recommande de choisir l'option repas et petit déjeuner pour une expérience complète. (Venir au repas dans la tenue traditionnelle mise à disposition). Les petits plus : œufs et patates douces à disposition (et lait le matin a oroximité des Onsens). Pop-corn cuits à la flamme le soir. Ryokan très bien situé pour aller au village à pieds.

お部屋、温泉、お料理、その他サービス 全部良かった。 お部屋は温泉付きを利用しました。 雰囲気もとってもいいし、お部屋の設備も整っていて居心地が良すぎました！ 貸切風呂も全部堪能させてもらい とっても気持ちよかったです。 食事も個室でゆっくり食べることができ、お刺身の鮮度抜群でお肉も美味しかったです。 お誕生日旅行ということでドリンクのサービスもつけて頂き大満足でした！ 朝一の牛乳もおいしかったです。 次の日も駐車場を快く使わせて頂き、時間を気にせずゆっくり散策観光できました！

Loved the whole feel of Yufin Hoteiya. The main building where the reception is was so beautiful to walk into. You could appreciate a sense of 'old' Japan. Our building again was such a delight to be in, with it's corridor to the bathroom area, the sliding doors to the courtyard; just lovely. The food was delicious with many small and different things to try, both for dinner and for breakfast; being served in your own private dining room. The staff were lovely. Also a great location; just a short walk away from the hustle of the main tourist street.

Although there were 3 different private onsens, we struggled to get into one, as everytime we tried they were in use. Would have been good to have a way of booking one, or at least knowing when to come back. We managed to see the outdoor one was free as we came back from breakfast and before we had to check out, so went then. If we hadn't been able to access that, then I feel we might have been a little disappointed.

The food provided is delicious (the portions are quite sizeable). The accommodation and service was also top class. Very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Close enough to most things in Yufuin in terms of walking; there is a shuttle to and from the train station.

This was an amazing experience. A beautiful ryokan with an exceptional staff, a great dinner and breakfast, and an outworldy atmosfere. The location is great. You are a bit further away from a main road to have a feeling of escaping from the harsh every-day reality, but close enough to have a causual lazy stroll around Kirin Lake or the fable like streets of Yufuin. The staff and servises were superb. You know from the first moment when you enter the ryokan that these people would like to do everything they can for you to enjoy your stay. The atmosphere in the ryokan was amazing. The traditional architecture, traditional fireplaces, common spaces, the outdoor part of the resort, the onsens, and the view of the mt. Yufu definitely helps to forget you live in the 21st century and need to go to work this monday.

Some furniture and doors could use a bit of maintenance, but nothing that would affect your stay in any way. There may be a small communication barrier if you do not speak japanese. The staff can speak some English, and technology can certainly mitigate most of the issues, but I believe that the service would be even better if we spoke japanese.

Si vous recherchez un établissement traditionnel dans la campagne, ce ryokan est fait pour vous ! Situé dans une vallée brumeuse, cet hôtel comportant plusieurs dépendances est un havre de paix. La chambre, bien équipée, était très spacieuse et offrait une vue imprenable sur mont Yufu. Les repas sont servis dans un cadre intimiste - à savoir une pièce individuelle - et par un personnel discret et dévoué bien que ne parlant pas anglais. Des activités sont proposées au coin d'un feu traditionnel. Vous y trouverez 3 onsen (deux petits et un grand), privatifs selon disponibilité, tout à fait charmants.

Private outdoor onsen was great, and the kaiseki breakfast and dinner were scrumptious! Good location near the Main Street too.

The room with the private onsen is lovely. It was just what we need for a one night stay at Yufuin. The shuttle bus service was convenient. The meals served was lovely, especially with dinner. The beef served was in generous portion and super tender. The rest of the meal was very delicious as well. Staff was very helpful and friendly as well.

Food was good and the private onsen that came with our room was nice and convenient. We called the Ryokan from a payphone at the station and they sent a shuttle to pick us up. There are 3 private onsen that people can use. The massage chair in each of the rooms was very nice for sore legs/back. There is popcorn/rice cracker popping 8pm-10pm in front of the lobby that was pretty cool. There are also onsen eggs and other snacks they provided. Fresh milk is delivered in the mornings for those that want it.

There were some bugs in the rooms. The AC units were not very powerful. There were only 2 water bottles provided. The Onsen tubs probably could have used some touch ups, the bottom was a bit rough and irritated my skin. They didn't offer a larger "public" bath like a lot of other ryokans.

The staff are amazing! The hotel is a small paradise and the village is idyllic.

Our stay at Hoteiya was average at best. We had paid a premium for the rooms with the private onsens but it felt like we were being penalized for the upgrade instead. The rooms are near the front of the property which meant that they were noisier. The private onsen was next to the common foot path which did not give you any sense of privacy. The bedroom window was also next to another footpath with a light perpetually turned on all night, there was no curtain in the room which meant that it was hard to sleep at night with the light shining in. The meals were also a disappointment. Small quantity and not good quality. Food was served cold like it’s been sitting out for ages. For the price we paid c. USD500 a night, I’m sure you can find better quality ryokans who treat you better.

Great experience for outdoor onsen, the half board was excellent. Quality food and totally very happy with our meals. Highly recommended.

I liked that the location is away from the busy are, yet close enough. Good English support. We went up the hill and explored, which I would recomment if you want to get away from the crowd. Just a few good quality shops and art galleries, and restaurants up the hill.

숙소에 있는 개인탕은 조금 작긴 하나 뜨겁게 온천욕 잘 했고 다른 온천은 크고 노천욕 재미가 있네요. 단지 온천탕 예약이 안돼서 확인해야하나 다시 방문하고 싶습니다

The hotel price is not worth the money paid. I expected more from what I paid. Room is small and old and noisy coz my room is in front of the dinning room. No queue booking for private onsen. Use your luck if the onsen is available at the time u need. We walk to checked the onsen availability at least 3 time whice are all outside the building we stayed. Showe water pressure at outdoor onsen is low. Dinner and breakfast is average. Nothing to remember. Our room is on the 2nd floor. No lift. I think they lie about dinner time thas only 1 selection which is at 6pm while other couple came at 18:40. Dinner served super slow up to 2 hours from 6 pm.
