This was one of our favourite hotels we have ever stayed in. The hotel is beautiful, the staff are so lovely. The happy hour was a highlight too!!

Nothing at all, it’s perfect!

Our suite was well designed and spacious, and generously large, with a very high ceiling under a pitched roof. The bed was nice and comfortable; plenty of drinking water; the bathroom, with 2 wash basins, was also well designed, large and clean; towels were lovely and plush; the incense sticks with accompanying match sticks was a thoughtful touch. The breakfasts were wonderful, especially the Sri Lankan breakfast option. It was a great introduction to Egg Hoppers. The bar served wonderful cocktails and mocktails. Dinner was also excellent, when we dined in one rainy night. It was nice that you keep the aircondition on for lunch and dinner (not all restaurants in Galle have aircons). And we throughly enjoyed the complimentary guided tour of the Galle fort area.

The airconditioning was extremely weak in our bedroom, despite there being 2 aircon units, obviously minimally required to cool this very large room with a very high ceiling. It's so important, especially during the hotter months around May/June. However, both aircon units were not sufficient. Fortunately, there was a ceiling fan, which we kept at full blast throughout the night, because the aircons could not fully bring down the room temperature to at least a comfortable 20-22 degrees C. Also, the toilet area is not air conditioned, so we kept the bedroom doors ajar so that the cool air could flow into the bathroom and wardrobe area. If I stay here again, I would perhaps select a smaller room with a lower ceiling, so that the aircon can cool the room more quickly and effectively. And bring plenty of mosquito repellant. Those critters sneak in at any chance they get!

Honestly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Beautiful heritage conversion project, lovely pool area, spacious comfy rooms. The complimentary drinks hour every day was a nice touch and breakfast was high-end restaurant level. Staff were universally lovely. The location was also perfect - right in the heart of Galle, close to lots of great restaurants.

The location was perfect an easy walk to the Fort, shops, cafés, and everything you need nearby. The room was beautiful, and the breakfast options were excellent with plenty of choice each morning. I ate out for lunch and dinner so can’t comment on the other meals, but if breakfast is anything to go by, I’m sure they’d be great too. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I had a really lovely stay overall.

Everything was excellent, location, staff/service, facilities, all were excellent.

Room lacked lots of natural light, this is due to the building original architecture. But that’s our only “fault”.

What a gem of place - it was amazing! Such a stunning hotel and in such a great location. We couldn't call out a single member of staff as frankly they were all incredibly friendly, helpful and simply couldn't do enough for us. The food in the hotel restaurant was also delicious. We also loved the extra touches on offer - afternoon tea as well as happy hour, all of which were complimentary, which was fantastic!! We would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely come back again

Absolutely nothing!!

The property location is fabulous - right in the heart of the Fort. The rooms are newly renovated and excellent. There is even a lot of hot water and air conditioning actually was too cold when we arrived! The service was outstanding, and breakfast was good.

It was NYC pricing. Our dinners over three days for three were over $3,000. The rooms were nice, but hot as nice as the price would dictate. The bathrooms were huge, but the rooms were not overly large. The pool was great but also not great for laps.

The Twin Banyan room in which we stayed was dark and a bit damp. The grey polished concrete decor did not help.

All the staff were friendly and very attentive. The room was large and comfortable. The public areas were well decorated. The pool was fairly small but was a very peaceful and relaxing environment. They have a complimentary early morning tour around the fort with a knowledgeable guide. Also complimentary afternoon tea, and pre-dinner drink and snack. Enjoyed our stay. Would recommend and would definitely stay again.

This was the most beautiful hotel we stayed in during our trip to Sri Lanka. It is out of this world the decor is exceptional old world charm with a modern chic twist. It has a bell in the room to press for champagne I mean what else does a girl need. The pool area was beautiful, tranquil and extremely comfortable. The staff were next level attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We ate here one night for dinner it was again exceptional and is a very popular restaurant in the town. The breakfast was à la carte and really outstanding. The location, right in the centre of the fort is perfect and if you stay in Galle you would not find anywhere better

The breakfast was delicious with fruit, bread, pastries followed by an a la carte menu with plenty of choice. The hotel itself was beautifully decorated, very tasteful without being ostentatious. The pool was big enough for a hotel that only has 20 rooms with plenty of different seating options around the pool that were very comfortable. Despite being inside the very busy fort it was very private, no one overlooked our room or balcony and the pool was equally as private. We have stayed in 7 different hotels in Sri Lanka and by far the staff at The Bazaar were the best: friendly, polite, present but not overbearing. I could not have asked for more. I will 100% recommend this hotel.

The hotel was in a perfect location. It was extremely clean and quiet. The building kept a lot of its old traditional looks whilst combining modern furnishings.

Fort Bazaar is perfectly located in the heart of Galle Fort. The rooms are spacious and stylish. The open, airy layout of the hotel is great and relaxing, especially also spacious pool area. The restaurant serves high-quality food with a great mix of local and international dishes.

The hotel was in a prime location in Galle Fortress. The hotel was very tastefully decorated with wonderful friendly staff that were very keen to help. Delicious breakfast..Definitely would like to go back and stay there it’s wonderful.👍

This hotel is truly exceptional!! We were upgraded on arrival to an amazing suite. The facilities, service, staff and food were amazing with every detail covered. We had booked for bed and breakfast and we also received complimentary afternoon tea and free drinks at happy hour. There was also a complimentary guided walk around Galle Fort which was so interesting.

Everything was perfect for 4 whole nights, from the breakfast, happy hour and dinner to the design, turn down service and bathrooms. The pool was wonderful to lounge around and fully enjoy the beautiful weather, and the hotel is in a perfect location to explore Galle Fort. Truly incredible service came from the general manager, Thuan, who helped us with something personal which really meant the world to us, but we had great service from everyone for our entire stay. Thank you Fort Bazaar, we will be back!

we had a suite on top of the hotel with a big balcony and a good view on the street life. The room was big enough so we had a living corner with a couch and a saloon table. The bathroom was equiped with a shower and a bad tube. Very special was the "champagne botton", where you could order a glass of champagne from the room.

The hotel opend its door mid December 24 after undergoing some renovation. The hotel is not big and the restaurant inside has a small capacity for about 30 people. So it can be loud, if there is a group of people in the restaurant and not just couples or families with their children. But you have always the choice to seat outside, under the veranda.

Excellent situation.

This place is seamless and standards are absolutely as expected from a property of this calibre. The rooms and common areas are immaculate and put together beautifully. Thoughtful details such as complimentary afternoon tea, happy hour in the bar and a la carte breakfast makes this place a cut above. The pool area is a tasteful, calm and immaculate oasis in the middle of the bustling fort. Staff are top notch, fluent English speakers and aware of the customer service needs of their clientele. The property itself is stunning and carefully restored with original features throughout in keeping with the heritage regulations of the fort. There is also a free guided tour/heritage walk of the fort with an expert archaeologist who has worked with planning permissions and renovating many of the buildings in recent years. It was a pleasure speaking with him and learning more about the unesco site. Sugath the head chef came to speak with me personally when I requested more local Sri Lankan cuisine and made me an exquisite bespoke lunch which was the absolute highlight of my trip. Avi and Lihini also went above and beyond to ensure we had our comforts met. Thank you all! We very much look forward to returning here on our next visit to Sri Lanka.

Beautifully designed, service very smooth, gorgeous new pool and amazing massage!

Hands down my favourite hotel in Sri Lanka. My experience at the hotel was so good that I changed my plans and stayed here twice during my trip. The staff are so kind and helpful. Shout out to the chef, who treaded me to a special vegetarian Sri Lankan meal on my last night. The rooms are great, from the free mini bar to the super comfy bed. The new pool was big enough for me to have a proper swim to exercise, and there’s lots of spaces to relax, both indoors and out. If ever I come back to Sri Lanka, staying here will be top of the list.

Food at dinner and high prices for accommodation . Overpriced transfer to Colombo . They told us that this price is for a luxury type van and it was an old and not at all luxury. It was a common old van.

The Fort Bazaar in Galle truly exceeded my expectations in many ways. The suite is incredibly spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed, offering a luxurious retreat after exploring the historic fort area. The warm and friendly service provided by the staff made the stay even more enjoyable—they were attentive, accommodating, and always ready to assist. The breakfast offerings were excellent, with generous portions and a variety of delicious options to start the day. The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of Galle Fort, making it convenient to explore the area's attractions. I also appreciated the excellent communication, both pre-arrival and during the stay, via WhatsApp, which added a personal touch and made logistics seamless. Considering all these factors, the Fort Bazaar provides exceptional value for money.

The only downside of my stay was the absence of a swimming pool. While the property offers a serene and relaxing environment, a pool would have been a fantastic addition to enhance the overall experience, especially in Galle's warm climate. Nevertheless, the outstanding service, comfort, and amenities more than made up for this one shortcoming, and I would highly recommend the Fort Bazaar to anyone visiting Galle.

We love this hotel and have been back a few times. The central location inside Gallé Fort is perfect, making it easy to walk anywhere. The rooms are lovely and quiet, and the interior decor is beautifully done. The place has an air of tranquility about it. We love sitting on the veranda sipping a G&T and people watching 😍. The hotel is beautifully appointed, the staff are really well trained, the service is excellent and the spa is lovely. They also do some great seasonal offers.

The only down sides to the hotel is that there is no pool - BUT they are opening one very soon 🎉 and the food in the restaurant in an evening can sometimes be a bit basic, but the breakfast is always plentiful and delicious.

LOVED it here! Gorgeous colonial era property with spacious rooms, beautiful courtyard and a restaurant on the veranda to watch the world go by. Free afternoon tea between 3-4 and cocktail hour 5-6, were amazing. Also offer a free walking tour of Galle Fort, which was super informative. The little touches like a turndown and ‘push for champagne button’ added a touch of luxury. Staff were also super helpful and friendly.
