The oldest Pub in Worcester so plenty of charm and character
Couldn’t park on site so more money spent in the car park, rooms are very small and would be difficult for two people to share
Location good
Due to ill health, my husband the stairs difficult
Excellent location, good sized room, good shower. A real unspoilt pub, good beer, and nice staff. If staying in Worcester I would stay here again.
I had the provided breakfast. It was fine except if they had dried fruit pack rather than a rock hard apple.
Location, central but quiet. Breakfast - the hampers are a lovely touch. Facilities very good.
Nothing to report really.
Comfort and history friendly staff
Nothing
I loved the history of the place. The breakfast was substantial and I loved the picnic hamper. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The staff were very professional and helpful. You are staying in a pub in summer, but it was very quiet after 11pm and I had a good night's sleep. Thank you I would stay here again.
The shower was cold. In fairness,I did not mention it.
Lovely old building with good atmosphere
The bedroom was small but very comfortable and excellent for a nights stay
Breakfast cooked was excellent freshly made and a good portion for the price
Location was superb and the breakfast picnic basket was very quaint and its contents were delicious!
Room was a little dirty with very old cobwebs on the ceiling and around the curtain pole. Also there were no hand towels in the WC..
Lovely size room, very comfy bed, clean and tidy, wardrobe space and a fridge. Great location for exploring worcester.
Nothing to dislike. Breakfast was reasonable. Price of 165 might be a little high for 1 night.
Bar staff were a little pre-occupied at times, though their service when dealt with was efficient. Breakfast staff very helpful and friendly
Conversations between bar staff within earshot of customers. A member of staff took a random call from a service provider for a number of minutes when it was an obvious sales call, when their time could have been spent serving waiting customers.
Central location
We weren’t told that there was a 15 minute window after which we wouldn’t get any breakfast. Which we had paid for.
Central location, helpful staff, reasonably spacious room, excellent shower.
Furniture in room slightly battered (chic?). Rather expensive for a fairly basic room over a pub.
The room was nice and very comfortable. Lots of refreshments to choose from. It was perfectly good for one night.very central.
It was quite noisy downstairs but there was no need to go through the pub itself to reach my room. Couldn't get my lamp to work but at least a light went on in the entrance as I opened the door.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very nice. The breakfast was lovely.
Helpful staff
Noisy room above beer cooler on all night, breakfast was disgusting, no hairdryer, no aerial connection for TV, no sleep because of noisy cooler, booked 2 night stay, left the premises after one night, should be compensated for the unacceptable noise overnight with no sleep
Lovely old Inn with lots of character. Friendly staff & great location. Breakfast hamper was a lovely bonus 🙂
There was a continuous humming noise/ vibration at the back of the hotel on top floor. It was very noticeable & definitely wasn’t the fridge. I’m not sure where it was coming from
Lovely old worlde feel. A bar an eating area plus outside and a snug. Upstairs rooms adjoin the pub.
Nothing really.
Location
The room was dirty and dated. We didn’t even use the shower or bath because they looked grubby!! Fridge doesn’t even work properly.
It was all great!
Nothing
I paid through Booking.com and was charged again on arrival. It turns out that not only did I pay twice but I was actually overcharged at the facility, so paid more than the standard price of the room. I discovered this before leaving in the morning at 8:00 AM so tried to address the issue whilst on-site. There was nobody in the pub / breakfast section and the facility was securely locked. I had to exit by using the fire escape. I telephoned during the breakfast period by nobody answered the phone. Once home I followed-up with a detailed email but nobody responded. I have since made several phone calls to rectify and have been told that the hotel cannot return the overpayment unless I present a payment card on-site. I don't live nearby - if I did I would not have needed a hotel! Ridiculous!
Staff were friendly. Lovely old building in a great position for central Worcester. Only 4 rooms so nice and quiet. Love the picnic hamper breakfast. Would like the same room when we return next year. Needs another fan when it's such lovely weather. The fridge in the room is a godsend. Complimentary bottled water is great. Comfy bed. Easy check in and check out.
The TV has a green line down the middle of the screen. The dirty net curtain, dusty window ledge. The dirty bathroom floor was a shock - hubby dropped some water and used the bathmat to mop it and it was black! Clearly not getting moped properly.
Good central location - comfortable bed and good facilities in room.
Bedroom was above beer garden so it was quite noisy especially as needed window open as it was a warm evening. Breakfast basket was left outside room overnight so milk was sour in the morning.
Location
Having to park in different location
staff.....location
accessability
Perfect location in tone centre close to cathedral. Great basket for breakfast
Friendly staff In town centre
No aircon on hottest night Fridge didn’t keep drinks cold
Nothing
Everything is not good.. no comfort in sleeping, bed is worse.. could not sleep two nights .
Quaint old pub. Good atmosphere in the bar
Beer cooler just outside our window kept us awake all night. Breakfast sausage and bacon was reheated from previous day
Bedroom and en-suite were clean and smelled ok. Good location for city centre. Fridge in room.
Entering the property it smelled unpleasant - needing a good clean? Noisy refrigeration unit (?) outside bedroom window at the back. Picnic hamper breakfast hamper a nice idea with fresh milk and juice but spoiled by unpleasant soggy pastries which looked and tasted as though previously frozen and left to thaw in the bag.
Both the continental and the full English breakfasts were very nice, and having the continental in a basket in our room was rather novel
Noisy till about 1030 but it is a pub, so to be expected
Lovely staff, hearty breakfast delivered to room in cute hamper.
The room was very roomy & comfortable. Really loved the atmosphere and all the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Central location. Had basic things I needed
Shower in the bedroom not closed off is odd. I wouldn't have felt comfortable using it if I had anyone with me. Mould in shower grouting off putting. Half the electric sockets didn't work.
It is a beautiful building and the rooms are in keeping with that. Our room was nicely decorated and the bed was comfy. We liked the continental breakfast in our room. All the staff were great.
Nothing to not like. Only comment is that our room was on the 2nd floor so be aware you may need to do lots of stairs. There was only one chair to sit on in our room but two of us were eating breakfast. Neither of these things were a problem to us.
The room was classic and beautiful . We chose the continental breakfast which was delivered to our door in a picnic basket and was really lovely.
No lift, but I understand it’s an old building. I would have liked better communication about parking.
Great location, great breakfast, friendly staff, dog friendly.
Room a little small
The character and age of the building was amazing and the staff were wonderful. The breakfast was nice, the sausages were frozen Richmond, which let it down somewhat.
Very dusty! - areas of the room had not been cleaned properly for a long time. The glasses in the room were dirty. The bathroom could do with a deep clean, very dusty and dirty behind the sink and toilet. The bed was really uncomfortable, the mattress was too thin and really soft. Peeling paint on the wall. Just looking tired, and could do with an update.
The bed was a bit awkward to get in and out
The room and very comfy bed and the breakfast basket was a really lovely touch
Bit noisy from outside traffic in the morning but not really a problem
Everything location service and beer
The location was excellent
Having to pay for parking
Fantastically quirky, great staff and unbeatable location
Good location
Don't think they know what a duster is. Noisy, overlooked beer garden. Breakfast awful, soggy inedible croissants, raw in the middle. No one there in the morning, had to leave via fire escape as all the doors inside were locked, no staff there at all.
History of the hotel was impressive the welcome and location were ideal for our needs. The continental breakfast was really nice
Could do with a new mattress
Great location for shops restaurants and parking
Nice old fashioned feel to the property traditional bar good beer and excellent breakfast
Great location, lovely staff, good food but dated and tired in the rooms.
City centre location and very welcoming staff
The room was okay but it needed a few maintenance jobs doing and the bathroom needed a good deep clean.
The room was great, the bathroom was big and modern the breakfast was delicious, the staff were very friendly and the beer was great
Nothing to dislike
Proximity to cathedral
Proximity to ugliest building in Worcester: NCP car park
Nice quaint room, staff we’re very pleasant and helpful. Definitely would stay again if In Worcester
the pub was centrally located; the room was clean; staff were welcoming and helpful; the bed was comfortable. the breakfast was quirky - left outside your room at midnight in a hamper (two pastries, yogurt, an apple, some granola in a jar, small bottle of milk, small bottle of juice and three mini jars of jam/marmalade - adequate for me but maybe not to everyone's liking.
if you wanted to go out early (say 7am to 8am) the door from the second floor to the ground floor was locked so you had to leave the pub by the fire escape; i didn't know whether any staff were on the premises between midnight and 8am but it felt a bit unnerving.
Staff were lovely. The continental breakfast left in the picnic case was great, except the banana was too bruised and old.
The mattress was uncomfortable and lumpy
Brilliant staff
People make the best places
Good location. In hindsight should have opted for breakfast hamper instead of cooked breakfast
Room too small with a dog
Location and staff.
The shower was dirty. The panels had not been cleaned in a long while. Dirty marks everywhere.
Nice room for a couple of days, great location. Lovely staff and lovely cooked breakfast. Would stay again
Nothing
Some elements of the visit were enjoyed. The history of the venue and as a pub, excellent.
Much of our visit was underwhelming. The general vibe was poor, the value for money poor for a number of reasons. To mention some, the room was not clean, one of the two curtains was hanging off it's rail, a part of the carpet was visibly warn, plug sockets were not working, of the two windows only one had a net curtain and therefore privacy was poor, the bedside light didn't work, the shower was not clean. That said, the bedding and towels were perfectly white and clean and the continental breakfast good.
Convenient as we were going to the cathedral for a concert.
Bed mattress could do with being renewed. It did not have much support. Would have been nice to have a mixture of options for breakfast in the restaurant. It was continental breakfast in rooms or cooked breakfast in restaurant.
Comfortable room. Staff very helpful
The room was really nicely decorated and bed was comfy. The staff were really friendly. Location was excellent. The pub is lovely. Good selection of drinks at the bar.
There were some cleanliness issues in the room - the drinking glasses were dirty. An old heater and fan had been left in the room which would be better stored elsewhere. The duvet cover was torn. The hamper my breakfast was in was dirty. Only 2 channels work on the TV. These are small issues which could easily be resolved. If they could sort these, it would score 10/10.
The bed and bedding were extremely comfortable. Loved the traditional features and double ended bath. The breakfast basket was lovely too.
It was very warm so we had the window open, not an issue for me but my husband was bothered by the early morning loud city noise.
Quirky Very friendly staff couldn’t do enough for us Great location And the brekky was great Will definitely be returning
Nothing
Location ok. Quite pretty
Flashing led light over the bath stopped me having a bath. Staff were aware but failed to mention it when showing me to my room. Offered me a free drink but should have either repaired it or offered something more like free breakfast.
Lovely pub and warm atmosphere
Rooms/ carpets quite tired and the curtains were falling off the rail.
Brilliant location and cracking breakfast in room
Perfect as is. Loved the pub
Central location and nice place to stay
Nothing
Amazing property loads of history there
Nothing
Very close to catherdral. Very old place, lots of history. Room was clean. Breakfast was very nice and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Nice touch having a mini fridge in the room, bit noisy at night though.
I think they could have been clearer about how to get to the entrance to the NCP as it's a bit confusing to someone who's not used to Worcester. Also I found 4pm check in to be very late. Room was good overall if a little on the small side. Also my room was pretty cold as the window had been open and took me a while to suss out the old style radiator to warm it back up again. Bed was ok, not the most comfortable but definitely adequate. Duvet cover was ripped though. As goes with the territory with an old pub, the bar etc is tiny.
Staff were exceptional and room a delight.
Flys in the room , noisy, hot ,
It's an old traditional pub that hasn't been knocked through with TV screens, fruit machines and piped music. The continental and cooked breakfasts were both excellent.
Whilst I enjoyed using the shower, a bath option would have been good. I appreciate that there wasn't enough space for this in my room.
Welcome from the staff and decor of the room were good. Quality bed linen and towels, comfortable bed.
The room was unbearably hot, even with the window wide open all night, and the fan provided did not make any difference. Main parts of the room were clean but corners and round furniture was very dusty and needed better vacuuming. No bath mat for stepping onto from the shower.
Room was better than we thought it was going to be !
Overall very tired looking needs a spruce up 🙃nothing to make our stay unpleasant staff were friendly as we're the locals Chinese Next door was excellent Noise from the car park opposite especially after hours Bin lorries in the morning leaving the depot Which of course is out of your control Sadly thou the dog mess on the fire escape was unexpected !
Quirky property in good location.
Steps yo bed
The room and staff were great. I enjoyed everything.
The bed was pretty uncomfy.

Location was excellent! Apart from that not many positives.
No Parking. Not a very warm welcome. Had to travel up 2 flights of stairs with luggage then be told we had to come back down & pay immediately. We were hardly going to do a runner! Furniture very dated.& dirty. Cushions old & musty. We removed off the bed.. Carpet in room dirty, needs hoovering. Cups in room dirty inside. I had to re wash with boiling water. Continental Breakfast Hamper left outside the door.. Mis match cutlery. 1 banana and 1 orange for both of us. Not even 1 each. Extra charge for Full English. Upon check out, they couldn't even open the front door for us to get out with all our luggage. We had to walk around the back & down iron steps. Unbelievable inhospitality! We visit Worcester regularly but would we stay here again? Absolutely NOT.
Comfortable bedroom snug/cosy bed surrounded on three sides. Friendly informative staff who were able to provide addtion al history of the building. Excellent tasty breakfast - though no black pudding though on the menu :-(
Very very slow draining bathroom sink, non-shutting waldrobe - had to use a wedge of paper to keep the waldrobe door shut & there was not a handle. Yes it was vintage but needed to be functional.
The hotel was fabulous. Our room was clean and had a very comfortable bed. The continental hamper breakfast was great we also had a fabulous full English breakfast one morning. The staff were amazing, really friendly and made us so welcome I would definitely stay again
Everything was perfect
Nice room and friendly atmosphere
