We had a lovely meal in the bar however the portion size of the vegan option risotto was small which was a disappointment. Others had twice if not more for similar price- it was so tasty but not enough for walkers to re-fill and prepare for the next day.

The doorbell constantly ringing during our evening meal was annoying. Kept stubbing my toes on the step in the bathroom. Instructions for the coffee machine would have been helpful. Also didn’t know what the different coffee pods were. Used the kettle which left the water tasting of descaler or sterilising fluid

Everything. The room was very comfortable. Clean. Staff were very polite and worked very hard especially the young lady waitress this morning. We had the evening meal and breakfast both very nice. We would definitely come again

L’emplacement et l’aspect cosy de la chambre étaient très agréables.

Nous avions sélectionné et payé pour la demie pension, ce qui implicitait le dîner dans l’établissement... Nous avions annoncé notre horaire d’arrivée... Surprise, aucune ne nous était réservée et nous avons dû attendre un bon bout de temps pour en avoir une.... La logique aurait voulu qu’on nous demande en amont l’heure souhaitée de notre dîner afin de nous réserver une table... Conclusion: si l’organisation de l’établissement n’évolue pas, pensez à réserver votre table même si vous avez choisi la demie pension. Attention pas d’ascenseur dans l’établissement avec des escaliers assez étroits

Absolutely loved the location and the interior of our room was perfect. The rooms were exceptional. The bar in the hotel was full of vibes and lively, which added to the evening. The exterior of the hotel was good too.

I would have scored this higher but on arrival I was greeted by a very rude, unwelcoming and grumpy woman in the bar. We arrived at around 12.15 pm, never been here before. At reception there was a sign saying if there was no staff member to go to the bar for help and support. I walked into the bar and as I was talking about checking in, this very angry and frustrated member of staff, said "you can't check in til 3 pm, some are still sleeping", she didn't let me finish my sentence, assumed everything and learned nothing. Then others arrived and she literally said to all of us "Guys you can't get in until 3 pm, come on", it was like she was talking to school children. I firmly said to her if you would let me finish, I wasn't asking to get in to my room. She waffled on and was rude, there were no kind words, have you had a good journey, nice to meet you, are you here on holiday, zero. She was just frustrated we were there and offered us nothing but a very rude mouth. The rest of the stay I never saw her again, thank goodness and the rest of the staff were great.

Schön gelegen im Zentrum von Lynton. Der Hausflur ist etwas muffig, aber das Zimmer ganz hübsch. Das essen im Restaurant hat uns nicht so sehr geschmeckt, aber dafür war das Frühstück das Beste unserer ganzen Reise. Auch der Pub im Haus ist gemütlich und hat gute Musik, man bekommt auch zu späterer Stunde noch etwas zu trinken.

Small room , tiny car park. I suggest you don’t use the car par as my car received a small dent on the wing whilst parked overnight.

All good, dinner menu good but standard fare.

We had a lovely suite with shower room and separate bathroom with a freestanding bath which was lovely along with bath robes and fluffy towels. The rooms were decorated very well. We had free gin and tonic in the room as well as the biscuits/tea/coffee. It all felt quite luxurious.

I am unsure about the coffee machine as I am a tea drinker and I don't really know how to work them so instructions would be good. I managed but it was a bit faffy. My husband is 6ft 3" and he kept banging a head on the door into the room. A sign or foam rubber would be good - he really hurt his head and he was sober! We had a nice meal in the restaurant even though a few things had sold out which was disappointing. Overall though the place is very nice! I think for the winter you may need thicker rugs on the floor and blinds to keep the room warm.

Lovely comfy room with a big telly in a central location easy to walk to different national trust sites and several walking paths nearby. A plethora of cafes nearby. Room beautiful and very clean.

Being a pub there is some talking till midnight outside the windows but we can accept that it is what it is. After that it was silent . Car park is tiny we were prepared to park in the public car park if we had to.

Really lovely room with quirky features in a great pub with very tasty food. Perfect location for wandering the town.

I loved the area. The hotel is decorated beautifully. Food was wonderful. Staff were so nice.

Le dimensioni della camera, decisamente minuscola; la generale noncuranza dello staff, sia al nostro arrivo quando non hanno avvisato che c'era un parcheggio riservato ai clienti, invitandoci ad andare a quello a pagamento, sia nel non comunicare correttamente i costi della colazione.

Wir waren bereits vor zwei Jahren schon einmal hier gewesen und hatten uns damals sehr wohl gefühlt. Doch das Personal war nun jünger und leider nicht mehr ganz so zugewandt - aber natürlich trotzdem freundlich. Unser 3-Bett-Zimmer war sehr geräumig und die Betten wirklich bequem. Alles war sauber, neben dem üblichen Wasserkocher für Tee und Instantkaffee gab es sogar eine kleine Kapselmaschine. Auch hier alles sehr ordentlich und sauber. Das Frühstück war vor zwei Jahren eine Wucht gewesen und wir hatten uns darum sehr darauf gefreut. Leider konnten wir es dann doch nicht nochmals genießen bzw. bewerten, ob es immer noch so gut ist ...

Aufgrund eines Planungsfehlers mussten wir noch vor dem Frühstück abreisen. Es war nicht möglich, dass man uns ein paar belegte Sandwiches vorbereitet hätte. Dafür hatten wir zwar grundsätzlich Verständnis, doch der einfache Hinweis, wir könnten uns zumindest in der Früh einen Tee auf dem Zimmer zubereiten, zeugte nicht von großem Entgegenkommen oder Zugewandtheit. Das war schade. Die Parkplätze direkt am Hotel sind begrenzt und der Raum etwas beengt, wir hatten aber keine Probleme, einen Parkplatz zu bekommen.

This pub hotel is a lovely place set right in the small town of Lynton within easy walking access to to shops, pubs, cafes etc as well as the coastal path and the funicular railway. The host and staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable, and though a little small, this expected for a old building and a pub / hotel of this type. We enjoyed the walk along the coast path to the 'valley of the rocks', directly from the hotel and afterwards debriefed over pints and snacks in the beer garden right there at our hotel. I would definitely recommend this place for a short stay in this amazing location.

Not much not to dislike. For those coming from overseas, and driving here, just understand that this place as many like it in the UK, are small car parks with small spaces - its not a criticism - its just how it is

The room was very small but comfortable. The staff seemed friendly. We didn't stay for breakfast because it was too expensive. All in all we didn't think the hotel was good value for money.

The sink in the bathroom was ridiculously small. Hardly big enough space for teeth cleaning! Good shower though.

Das Haus liegt mitten im Ort Lynton und wenige Minuten zu Fuß vom Ortskern. Die Zimmer mit Dusche waren sauber und das Frühstück war lecker! Wir bekamen Parkplätze für die Motorräder vor dem Haus.

The location was perfect, plus what an amazing remodel: we loved our brand new trendy suite, with all the snazzy mod-cons and contemporary furnishings. We were relieved to find that our rooms were far away from the Crown’s hopping pub—super quiet and a great sleep. Also a delish breakfast (we note the restaurant & pub were popular with non-guests, too)

Hard to think of anything! Our particular rooms would have been difficult to reach for an elderly person carrying bags—lots of stairs & level changes to reach there. The hallways were more utilitarian than the rooms.

It was friendly and all of the staff were welcoming, especially Caroline. The rooms were clean and modern but they also kept in keeping with the character of the building. Breakfast was good, as too were the evening meals. Will definitely be returning 10 out of 10👍

Tbh it should have been closed as it was under refurbishment builders everywhere. Got told 8am on wards for them starting 6.45 banging in the work vans. speaking with another couple at breakfast and they was the same. Breakfast was 3/10 not worth the extra we paid

Hotel dans le village de Lynton assez loin de la mer. Établissement en réfection. Grande chambre moderne avec deux fenêtres et une autre petite chambre accolée. Belle salle de bains. Bon petit déjeuner. Plats du restaurant bien préparés mais sans originalité.

On a l'impression que le personnel est débordé d'où plusieurs couacs : absence d'information sur les travaux dans l'hotel et sur l'indisponibilité du parking alors qu'il existe un parking public juste à côté ; erreur dans la réservation pour le dîner d'où un repas tardif et un service assez lent, la priorité etant donnee aux clients du pub ; personne pour le check in et le check out, il a fallu attendre un manager à l'arrivée. Tout cela n'est pas bien grave mais désagréable quand on est fatigué par la conduite.

They are refurbishing some rooms at the minute and the one we stayed in was recently refurbished. The room was lovely and exceeded our expectations. Had a coffee maker and complimentary G & T on arrival. Bed was comfortable and had a great night's sleep. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were very helpful. Would recommend The Crown and would stay here again.

I asked for a room on a lower floor due to mobility I was given a room on the second floor accessed via very narrow stairs which caused a great deal of pain for me, once upstairs I stayed there only came down for dinner. I was only there for one night so I didn't complain, breakfast passable not worth the money I was offered a discount for pre booked breakfast and dinner which was not given

Das Zimmer war sehr klein und man hatte wenig Möglichkeiten etwas aufzuhängen. Mit 2 grossen Rucksäcken kamen wir fast an Grenzen, da wir ein paar Sachen trocknen mussten.

Lynton is high above Lynmouth with a fenicular railway.If you go down,you may be stuck in a queue at the bottom.Maybe better to go up first then down

Attitude of staff poor. Made no attempt to engage or be friendly on arrival. My request for a kettle that worked in the room was met but no apology that it wasn’t right to start with. Gave the impression that they were doing us a favour by letting us stay there. Overpriced

Really lovely room with lots of lovely features, including a roll top bath which was nice after a long day of walking! Modern features in rooms yet still homely and cosy! We ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely!

Advertised as free parking, this is a little misleading as there are only a few parking spaces which could also be taken by customers of the pub so we were told our only option was to use the public car park which add fees attached! Maybe should state parking is limited! I also tried to contact the venue several times and sent a message prior to my stay but never got any reply.

Location was excellent and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast choice was excellent. Coffee maker in room was a bonus. The shower gels were good quality.

Evening meals were expensive and portions on small side. No hairdryer in room and room overall (room 7) was very small for couples- no shelves or hooks and only one bedside table.

The hotel has been recently renovated and is very comfortable. The bedding is excellent, and the room decoration is beautiful. A lovely experience in a traditional English inn.

On the downside, we felt quite rushed to come down for dinner as soon as we arrived at the hotel and place our order due to a shortage of staff. The waitress asked us several times within less than 10 minutes if we were ready to order despite not all of our party being at the table yet. Once we did, we then had to wait a very long time to be served. We fully understand the staffing constraints, but it might have been nicer to take our order first and then allow us to go to our rooms to relax for 10–15 minutes, especially given how long the wait for the food was. The staff were kind, but we just felt a bit rushed.

Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und die Zimmer neu gestaltet, sauber und gemütlich. Das Hotel liegt nahe der Altstadt von Lynton und auch der Bahnstation zum Meer runter. Die Mitarbeiter waren jederzeit freundlich.

Wir waren im 2. Obergeschoss und der Wasserdruck war gering, so dass ein Duschen in der tollen Dusche nicht wirklich gut geklappt hat

Very nice only one complaint the water took ages to get hot and the pressure was very poor,otherwise very good.

Das Cottage war super eingerichtet und mit viel Liebe zum Detail ausgestattet. Die schiefen Böden und die unterschiedlichen Durchgangshöhen der Türen waren passend für ein solch altes und dennoch modernes Cottage. Unschlagbar war für uns der Kamin, den wir jeden Abend genossen haben. Feuerholz gab es gratis vom Vermieter dazu. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter war top und super einfach und schnell. Wenn wir wieder in UK sind, kommen wir sicher wieder hier her. Toller Ausgangspunkt für die Sehenswürdigkeiten der Cotswolds.

Die Kommunikation im Vorfeld durch Booking.com und den. Vemittler (nicht die Vermieter selbst) war etwas nervig, da ich gefühlt von jedem 4 Mail und Nachrichten erhalten habe. Das war einfach zu viel :-). Dies schmälert aber in keinster Weise die tolle Unterkunft.

Conveniently located and lovely food, good value for money. Staff were very welcoming. The radio in the room was a nice touch.

Would have preferred a kettle rather than a coffee machine. The wardrobe in our room 5 was extremely difficult to open, it looked new and probably hadn’t been used much.

It was a bit tricky to par the car initially, but we parked around the front in the end! The only criticism was that we could smell the extractor fan from our bedroom as we were at the back of the hotel!
