Staff were friendly. Location was excellent. Very quirky.
Great location and atmosphere
Location ; bedroom .
Stairs were a challenge for old people with luggage
The honor bar!
Near lots of eating places and places of interest. Lounges and garden are nice to sit in. Be aware staff leave site between 5.15 and 6pm.
Why have cold milk left in the open on a wooden table and not in a cold cabinet. The breakfast milk on our last day was off. Only found out in our first spoonful. This needs sorting.
Stayed here quite a few times, clean, comfortable, friendly staff, great location. Great breakfast
I travel by train so no problem. There is no on site car park but public car parks near by.
Beautiful building. Lovely staff. Exceptionally well managed. Fantastic breakfast.
Shower pressure could be better
Staff were nicely confident and welcoming. Breakfast was brilliant. We loved the lounge room for playing scrabble. Honesty bar was a great idea.
Nothing.
Very homely. Good location breakfast excellent
No parking. Bed very firm
There was nothing wrong with the room as such
there were noises coming from an adjacent room in the early hours which woke me up, when I went down for breakfast I was initially met with some heavy metal music which was highly offensive but the worst of it was that in the middle of my breakfast I bit into some bacon which must have had something sharp and caused my lip to bleed. I then was faced with trying to reason with the receptionist to allow me to have some reparation. This took some persuasion. I was NOT impressed.
Decor really homely and warm feel, friendly staff, good location
Shower didn't get hot and plug slightly blocked
A delightful surprise to find a gem in such a lovely town. We were sad we were only spending 1 night
Nothing
Very good location. Breakfast is outstanding
The rooms in the outside block are a bit small. They could be improved by taking out the large lamps etc to give more room. No air conditioning - fortunately wasn’t hot weather.
Convenient close to the River Severn and to the centre of Shrewsbury. Obviously focussed on Darwin with unusual features/art and bric a vrac.
Plumbing was not good where we were on the second floor. Loo did not flush effectively, shower water was so so and shower drain was not working well so had to leave the shower before it flooded the bathroom and rooms below. Hard to walk up the stairs with baggage . Luckily we kept ours to the minimum.
alles gut
Super breakfast. Excellent mattress. Large bathroom
Situació, servei i esmorzar excel·lent

This property was stunning one of the nicest places so fab every little touch was so nice would have loved another night 10/10
Decor , breakfast the gardens it was all fab .
The breakfast choice was excellent with a full continental breakfast available in addition to cooked. The cooked breakfast was a sensible size and beautifully cooked. Bearing in mind how close we were to town, there was very little disturbance, in fact no disturbance from the street. We were in the garden rooms.
The room we stayed in was quite small making it difficult to place two suitcases where they wouldn't be in the way but I appreciate there is little that can be done about room size.
Breakfast excellent - served in a delightful conservatory. Well stocked honesty bar’ a real bonus.
Room on second floor accessed by narrow spiral staircase a little difficult for elderly client!
Great location excellent staff tasty breakfast good value for money
Nothing
Great location and friendly staff. Lovely bedding and nice large bathroom. Quirky and fun decor.
The room was snug which I was aware of but the reality of using the room was at times a pain. Ornaments/ vases and stands needed dusting and coffee and tea area needed tea stains cleaned off.
Location, and breakfast was good.
It was a bit creaky. The bathroom chrome toilet holder did not appear to be clean and the toilet seat would not stay up.

So unique! Darwin themed in such a lovely way. Extremely clean. Great breakfast. Such a lovely honesty bar. Comfy beds. Great location.

Excellent I will be back
Everything.. it was more then I ever expected.
Great breakfast options Liked the theme of the decor. Really nice location - central but quiet. Very good gelato opposite the hotel!
Great location, excellent breakfast
Miss match design.Didnt feel relaxed in room.certainly wasn't luxurious. Bed was comfy.
Poor design nothing went together .
Ideal location for a family event. Staff were super helpful and friendly.
No A/c and only a small window that opened on to the walk way , so we could hear people coming and going with the window open.
Excellent breakfast included in price - lovely sunny garden to relax in with an honesty bar and lovely cheerful staff. Only downside was when we arrived in our room it had paper takeaway cups and drinking bottle left in t
Only downside was when we arrived in our room it had paper takeaway cups and drinking bottle left in the window.
Always a warm welcome and cosy surroundings.
I enjoyed staying in the room and it was very clean. The breakfast was good and a different choice. The staff are very friendly. One minute walk to town from the hotel.

Situated perfectly within walking distance of town centre and railway station. Ideally placed near to car parks.
Comfortable room with compact en suite. Nice garden area to sit in. Staff were lovely. The choice and quality of the breakfast was really good. It's close to the river for an easy stroll but only a short walk into the city centre.
We particularly liked Room 20 as it was cool and more private. We like the Darwin tasteful theme throughout and the interesting artefacts. The breakfast was very good, and the location is convenient for town centre. The garden is a lovely amenity.
We were expecting bath robes as they were said to be included, but they were not supplied in the room. We did not notice until later when no staff available.

Great location in the centre of attractions and next to the river
The fact that it was very central and had a nice garden
We were not in the main building and we expected a nicer room from the pictures nevertheless it served its purpose.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The garden was beautifully maintained and considering the location, very quiet. The breakfast was very good.
The bedroom was quite small for two people.
Lovely staff. Warm welcome. Comfortable room. Great breakfast. Nice background music. Gorgeous garden.
The room was nicely decorated and they did store our luggage upon arrival prior to check in
The hotel was unmanned from 7pm and some music had been left on which played all night long right above our room so we had hardly any sleep.
Great location, close to town and the Quarry. Great breakfast and excellent staff. Comfy bed and good shower.
The room was pretty tight for a couple with suitcases.
Everything was great
Leaving
I wish I’d known there was no lift
Quirky hotel. Very comfortable. Great location. Lovely ambience. Amazing breakfast.
Couldn’t fault hotel.
Gorgeous, very nice staff and cozy space!
No air conditioning it was extremely hot
Great location, lovely breakfast and nice room
Na
A very nicely decorated but very small boutique hotel with a pretty garden. Staff were lovely and breakfast was really delicious with lots to choose from.
The room we had was tiny with hardly anywhere to put anything. Nowhere to hang anything, nowhere to sit other than the bed, a small dressing table. Had to leave everything in the cases. Spent 3 days tripping over stuff on the floor.
Place was super cute with the Darwin theme through out. Staff was friendly, breakfast was delicious. Perfect location to enjoy the area
I'm American so no air conditioning lol
The hotel was spotless, and the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious. Breakfast was delicious, all made with fresh, local produce. Would definitely stay here again.
The only thing that we felt could be improved was having air conditioning in the room as it was very hot.
Delicious, home cooked breakfast. The townhouse is extremely well placed in the centre of town.
Bedroom is slightly cluttered. More dressing table space would be appreciated - on the other hand, everything is supplied.
Great location. Excellent breakfast options. Large spacious room overlooking the garden.
With higher than average temperatures a larger fan and the ability to open both windows would have helped.
A charming B&B that is well located for exploring all that Shrewsbury Town centre has to offer. The decor is both quirky and delightful, and the two sitting rooms provide elegant spaces for guests to relax. Breakfast is good, and there is public parking close by that is free from 6pm to 8am.
The central location led to some noise at night, and my stay was during a heatwave, so although my single room had a fan, the heat and noise made sleeping difficult at times. Also, the single room is compact, and the coffee making facilities are rather cramped and precariously arranged.
Loved the location/-tucked away, but right off the river. Loved the room, loved the breakfast. Staff was so attentive.
No reservations
The atmosphere is relaxing, great attention to detail, you can feel how much the owners and staff care about their guests. Also the garden and breakfast!
X
This was the best guesthouse I've ever stayed at. It was welcoming and comfortable, the breakfast was superb and the location was perfect, right in the middle of town but very quiet. I hope to stay here again soon.
Nothing to fault. It was all great.
The fabulous location, hotel was spotless, really good breakfast
The score would have been 10 for exceptional if it hadn't been for the early morning disturbance from the room next to ours
Breakfast was good.
Room was unbearably hot even though we’d paid for a larger room. Nothing had been done to limit the heat. Two large windows, only one was able to be opened. Staff could have closed blinds to limit the room from overheating all day. Room was so hot when we arrived we had to leave the room until 10pm. No sleep all night. Lady on reception just made excuses. Far too many security cameras throughout the property. Makes people feel uneasy. If you are concerned about ornaments getting stolen, perhaps remove them.
Beautiful place, clean rooms, fantastic breakfast and great location. Perfect for visiting Shrewsbury.
Very good
It was very noisy during our stay so we had a very poor nights sleep
Excellent B&B. Clean. Nice rooms and rooms to chill on the first floor. Lovely garden in the back with lots of places to relax. Honor bar too. EXCELLENT breakfast and fabulous staff. Easy 15 minute walk to the train. Lots to see and do in Shrewsbury. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
The hot spell made it extremely hot on the top with a small window opening. We had a fan but definitely need another because there’s no circulation on the top floor. It was a heat wave but need some relief for the rooms.
Lovely room, great wee hotel. Amazing location.
Nothing
Breakfast, excellent. Room Number 1 not the best as it’s right above the front door and we could hear everyone coming in late at night. Location, perfect.
Not that much wrong but wouldn’t stay there again.
It is a beautiful old property just a shame that there is no on site parking
No lift to get to the third floor it’s a long way up with your luggage the staff were very helpful they carried my luggage up and down at the end of my stay
Lovely building, very quirky decor. Staff lovely and approachable. Comfortable bed.
Cobwebs on the books on our windowsill, and the shower doors didn’t shut properly so found it leaked onto bathroom floor a little. Just needs a little more maintenance. Was staying to celebrate my 50th birthday and booked a month in advance, some family surprised us and booked a room last minute (just days before) and they got a much bigger and superior room….surely those booking in advance get the better rooms and those booking last minute get the smaller rooms? That’s the way I thought it would work anyway.
Location Dog friendly Idea for groups

Darwins Townhouse is an exceptionally superb place for a short or long stay, from comfortable room with spacious bathroom, decorated to a high standard,we had a garden room overlooking an immaculate area to sit and enjoy, the conservatory where we ate breakfast was beautiful, the breakfast choices was the most varied we have seen cooked to perfection and delicious or plenty of everything else, the two lounges were very comfortable including the lounge with the very reasonable priced honesty bar,the staff went beyond and above for service and friendly words, overall this will now be our come to place when visiting Shrewsbury,Thank You Darwins Townhouse
My only small exception was the path to our garden room needs a bit of tender loving care
Breakfast Location Facilities (generally very good) Size of room
Rattling window when open (and windy)
Beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. I stayed in a single room, which was small but perfectly formed. Loved the pretty garden and the staff were fantastic. Breakfast was very good, with a highlight being the muesli/granola bar.
Nicely situated. Lovely walk along the waterside.

Ausgezeichnetes Frühstück in sehr gepflegtem Rahmen
Location was great for onward journey to Wales. Very quirky decor clean and comfortable.

Great service from the owner - brilliant rooms and facilities - price was very fair - excellent breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.
All good - well done.
It's a Darwin themed hotel which visually has a lot of character. Nice garden. Cosy lounge and self-serve bar. Good location.
Underwhelming for the price. Room is small, and not particularly comfortable, no toiletries, no breakfast included.
Friendly staff and good facilities. The rooms were a bit small, but well appointed and the gardens and honesty bar were fabulous (no gf beer though-but that is a bit niche!). The food was really lovely and my coeliac catered for well. The location was fabulous-close to town and parking nearby. We’d stay again.
Nothing really. The small room may have been a problem for a longer stay but we were comfortable and happy with our stay.
Everything - friendly staff, able to leave luggage at reception, great room, fantastic location right in the centre
-
Breakfast was exceptional. Enormous choice and freshly prepared. Shower was powerful and hot. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Location was central and close to coffee shops, restaurants and shopping.
Good location for centre of Shrewsbury. Room very comfortable and staff were great. Good breakfast with lots of options.
A lot of stairs if you have a big suitcase!
Lovely hotel in a great location. Staff were helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic.

Great location, character property, comfortable beds, lovely garden, very helpful staff and delicious breakfast, well stocked honesty bar

Nice quiet garden room, helpful friendly staff and excellent central location with parking very nearby
Fantastic breakfast
Shower wasn’t the best
Perfect location, excellent parking close by, beautiful room. The breakfast room was beautifully decorated and truly wonderful breakfast and service
Our room was above the entrance so it was very noisy with people coming in using the key pad.
Staff were lovely and food was excellent
Nothing
Very lovely property, quirky Darwin-themed rooms, a bit on the small side, but well-appointed. Cozy lounge with honesty bar. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful staff. Very good location at the edge of the old town, but a bit away from the worst hustle and bustle. Lovely garden for guests (which we unfortunately couldn't make much use of due to the weather).
The room was a bit on the small side.
Lovely garden room, quiet but convenient for the town centre. The Darwin theme was interesting and added to the stay. The Shropshire Breakfast was superb.
Couldn't fault anything.
Great location, excellent facilities and friendly staff
Great room and breakfast. Thanks!
Lovely staff. Easy check in Central cosy fab breakfast
The Darwin theme was interesting and relevant. The breakfast was excellent
The room was overpriced at GBP127 per night on average, for a modestly sized room facing the pedestrian street noise. Part of the limited space was taken up by the host’s old suitcases as decoration.
The rooms are beautifully decorated; the garden is gorgeous; and the breakfast is outstanding.
We book through Booking.com and every year there are issues through them about our room being cancelled, which is always unsettling. We also asked for rooms close to each other and yet this was ignored until we checked in and last minute changes were made.
Location was perfect in the town centre. Good public car park nearby. Excellent breakfast
If I'm being picky, there was no blackout blind and the roman blind didn't quite cover the window so daylight disturbed us very early.
