The staff, food and choice of food were excellent
Waiting 2 hours for our evening meal but the staff made up for it by doing an early breakfast. So overall I can not grumble
Everything food was delicious reccomend roast butternut salad and bannana bread pudding xx
Nothing
Staff were amazing, breakfast was really good
The room was compact, clean and comfortable. Soft white bath sheets were provided and hot water was instant. The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly James, who found me a table in the restaurant on a very busy Friday evening, reserved it for the following evening, when he also remembered my 'tipple' from the previous evening. Things like this make for a very nice welcoming and homely atmosphere. The food in the restaurant was reasonably priced and delicious. I would definitely stay again when in the area.
Not so much a dislike, more of an observation. The toilet/shower room space for the toilet was very narrow (shower itself was fine). Fortunately I'm not of a large stature so it wasn't a problem, but for those of a more portly build it would be very tight!
Everything was superb. The building, the location, the welcoming staff.
Greta location, nice room, and all the staff were lovely
Very hot as was on top floor during hot spell
Very welcoming and friendly staff
The toilet in the room I was accommodated in was clogged, there was a bad smell in the room, I sent a message to the hotel owner about it, but they don't care
Cute room liked the layout
Parts of the room not very well lit
It was impossible to get to speak to someone. I wanted to see if I could get an earlier check in but my calls were not answered until the afternoon after check in time. As the pub is only open for a few hours, there weren’t any staff present when I was there. The person on the phone was helpful and I received a message with details of how to check in and get my room key.
Breakfast not offered, but paid for it in room rate.
Under new ownership, Paid for breakfast, but not offered because kitchen and Pub were closed. Room very dirty and dusty. Garbage bins not emptied. No one on property during off hours, concerning for an 83 old woman. Paid for double bed, and a single bed was offered.
Excellent staff and accommodation. We had dinner on one evening and breakfast on two mornings. All meals were absolutely delicious - freshly cooked and well presented.
Nothing!
Room in a friendly pub that did good food. Had onsite parking
Bed not the comfiest!
Convenient location, great food and great staff

Good atmosphere in the public areas, the evening meal we had was excellent and the staff were first class.
The twin beds in the room we had were very comfortable, and the linen was spotless. Unfortunately what let it down was the dust on the furniture it obviously had not been cleaned for some time. The other problem was the bathroom difficult to get into because of furniture and mini bar in the way so that the door would not fully open, and the shower did not work and we had to wash over the sink. There were no staff on the premises first thing in the morning to assist us with the shower problem.
Nice Old Pub with friendly staff - Location was near shops & restaurants
We had Room 1 - Photo of the room did not match what we had - It showed two easy chairs & there was only one in the room. The mattress was old & uncomfortable. It stated there was WiFi, but that was only in the bar/restaurant it didn’t work in our room.
The staff were very nice
The bedroom and toilet/shower amenities were sub standard in room 2. The bed was small and uncomfortable. The door to the tiny toilet/shower was so narrow and there was no privacy afforded. The wash hand basin was in the bedroom itself. The carpet and tea making kit were not clean. Unsatisfactory!
The people were friendly and helpful. The sheets and towels were clean.
There was a kettle but no cups were provided so we couldn’t use it. The carpets on the stair and in the room were badly needing replaced.
All brilliant
Nothing
Staff, and the whole place. Breakfast was the best I have ever had, very cheffy
Taxi service there shocking and hotel recommend by cards being left in the room
The pub itself was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Calling it a hotel was a big jump. It’s a pub with rooms above. Great for someone on a tight budget.
Bedroom too hot. The fan provided only circulated the hot air around the room. The 1/2 en-suite was strange. The sink was in the bedroom and there was no cold water tap only hot. The toilet was squeezed in beside the shower and if you were a person of wider dimensions it would have been a tight squeeze.
Location Parking and restaurant
Room above bar Friday-night banta and music until way passed eleven, me having to arrive at a show 0800 Saturday. Not good .!
Large room and great price with free parking.
No aircon and stairs to top level would be no good for people with suitcases. No accommodation on ground floor.
A warm and friendly welcome to a lovely pub. Our room was clean, comfortable and decorated beautifully in keeping with the age of the building. Perfectly placed for Bicester Village, and 25 min taxi ride to Silverstone.
Great location and really lovely staff. It was great having a fridge in the room to store drinks and snacks.
The room didn’t have air conditioning which wasn’t expected but a shame as there was a heatwave during our stay. We had the top attic room and it just seemed to trap heat in, making nights uncomfortable. The room had a fan but it was old and didn’t work well. A more modern fan would have been helpful. The bed had a few springs that had gone but it was fine.
Staff very friendly and very nice. Great coffee machine - was a bonus. Very accommodating :)
Nothing really!
Quirky small room above a lovely pub.
Parking was first come first served. As it is a busy and popular pub, can be a little difficult.
I stayed for the 2026 British GP. Great location, good price and lovely food
It was a bed only as there’s no breakfast. Rooms above a pub. It is an old pub so the rooms are traditional wooden floorboards. Small stair staircase to get to the rooms. Might not be good if your mobility is poor.
Breakfast would’ve been better included in the price, but there is no breakfast provided at all.
Old property but nicely presented
The weather was extremely hot and we were only supplied with a small fan which was a bit of a waste of time. Perhaps a pedestal fan may have been better
Breakfast was good although took 1 hr to prepare
There was no AC There was no lift There was a fan in the room which was ineffective
location and the staff Great local pub Parking
breakfast was not served despite being included in the price. Bed needs a better mattress. Fan in the room does not oscillate.
My room was directly over the bar and music no sound insulation. The boom boom base was loud.
Het matras is niet fijn. Je voelt de pocketvering.
There was not enough plugs in room and was dusty. The coffeelatte pods only had the coffee part not the milk part.Couldnt get coffee at var as machine was turned off Had to pay extra for breakfast.
Location next to main road but was quiet enough (slept well). 5 minute walk into town so ideal. plenty of places to eat, but also has a restaurant on site (weds to sunday -I think) Old building but full of character , old panelling and floors/stairs slightly uneven, low ceiling in places (im 6'4)
Maybe a little expensive especially without breakfast but not really a big deal. Breakfast available friday-sunday). I left before breakfast anyway due to work Small car park (public house - but free parking. Just give your reg number in at booking in) Would I stay again? Yes definitely
Lovely atmosphere and decor- welcoming and friendly staff members. Great location and room very individual.Comfortable bed and clean linen.
Booking.com confirmation said breakfast included but this is only available Fri-Sunday. I did not receive an email from property explaining this so we were disappointed as have stayed before and breakfast was great! Room needs bedside lights please!
The character and location are fab although the room was a little dated and could be of a higher standard. The pub food was amazing and the staff made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere in the pub was brilliant.
The room could have been a bit cleaner and the bed could have been more comfortable.
Nice rooms
Nice rooms
The room was clean and it had a very nice shower area.
The room was like trying to sleep in the middle of the Sahara desert with only one slightly wonky stand fan. We understand that it was a very hot day, but the room was unbearable and impossible to sleep in. We messaged the owner after one night and said we were leaving. we still haven't had any sort of reply or apology. I personally would not use this hotel if the outside temperature was above 25 degrees. I can not underestimate how hot that room actually was. Very very disappointed as this was my wife xmas present.
Great location near to Bicester north station. Walkable to Bicester village & local pubs. Quiet and quaint room. Nice hot shower & toiletries. Fridge & tea and coffee making facilities.
The mattress was a little uncomfortable with hard springs. The bathroom needs a bit of TLC.
Great location and comfortable bed.
Nothing.
Whats not to like - excellent accommodation, food and customer service
Rooms are fine. Pretty standard for Bicester. Staff is nice and friendly.
Old building. Rooms are above a bar, so it can be quite loud late into the evening.
Close to town center
Stained carpet and fungus in shower
Location is ideal and is only a short jump to the M40/A43. There plenty of places to eat in the town which is a five minute walk away. The rooms were well serviced and clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. The staff are friendly and welcoming and answered my every query.
The wifi was a little hit and miss and my VPN didnt like it. I prefer to tether to my phone for security purposes so it wasn't an issue.
I cant answer this as pub closed on my arrival to check in and all calls n knocks ignored
Booking not honoured refusing contact and refund ended up stranded 2.5 hours from home at 830pm with my child night before his father's funeral!!!
Free parking
The building is very old and smelly, and the mattress is not comfy at all! I couldn't sleep properly and I had a backache in the morning. The furniture is useless and the room's condition was such that I didn't want to touch anything. I just slept and left early in the morning!
Delicious food, friendly staff, great location
I had such a fantastic stay at this hotel (it being a pub as well just made the whole experience even better) The location was really easy to get to, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived, with friendly locals. The staff were absolutely brilliant, so friendly, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. They really went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Shout out to Paloma for Rugby being on the telly! The room was on the smaller side, but it was spot on, clean, cosy, and had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it!
10am check out (I understand why I just don't like it haha)
Nice size room and decorated well
Bathroom unclean and hairs in the bed.
Location is great for Bicester town center and the added bonus of having a good restaurant and pub
Bathroom had mold not a great look, and despite picking a property with breakfast included informed this was a mistake on arrival and they didnt include breakfast. No comms or highlight of this previously.
Great location & nice to have pub below. Surprisingly quiet
A few bits of tlc would help - super lumpy mattress, some tissues/ cotton wool & a deep clean. Noises off - mice? Breakfasts were a bit dry & offer of fruit/ granola would be nice/ juice?
Convenience of location Polite staff Car park The facilities-fan and coffee machine fridge in room Having our own back access to room
Not very clean Toilet had urine on it and sink still had toothpaste in it carpet could do with a clean Very creaky Bed not too comfortable The room was slopped
Fantastic place to stay, great for Bicester Village
Nothing
Location
No information given about how to attain WiFi, breakfast was included within our stay but again no information on when and where to go. Rooms were ok, a bit tired and shower had mould in places. No plug sockets worked in the room so could boil the kettle or turn on the lamps.
Atmosphere and pleasant staff
Parking
Very comfortable, staff were so nice!
Lovely rustic pub
Bedrooms could be better but didn’t ruin our stay
Very friendly welcoming staff. Good food in the restaurant.
The room was over the bar and very noisy, which was fair enough but the noise continued very late, loud voices till after 1am.
No food available on Sunday. Arrived at 3pm. Same morning breakfast time. Room had no heat at all and outside temperature very cold as winter. Fan heaters were supplied . Room needs updating
It was a great location very close to my office as i was staying over for work, very close to centre, with a good car park which was free, the restaurant was very nice and the staff were accommodating.
One issue was the floorboards seemed a bit unstable but i’m sure they were fine, there was music on until quite late and I think my room was directly above the pub so was quite loud but didn't mind too much and had been warned about this previously. The paint in the bathroom was the main issue as it was flaking over the sink and the floor and was quite messy.
Great location and staff
The pub was right by the Bicester North train station and a ten minute walk into town. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The advertised check-in time was 15:00 — we arrive at gone 17:00 to drop our bags before dinner with friends only to be told they needed another half an hour to get the room ready. They offered a complimentary drink while we waited but we were meeting friends so we couldn’t accept as it would have made us late. We asked if we could leave our bags and check-in after dinner. We were informed that despite the advertised check-in window closing at 22:00, there would be “nobody there” if we got back after 20:00. We therefore had to bargain with them to let us put our bags in the un-ready room and take a key while they set the room up while we were having dinner. We returned after dinner to find one towel (for a double room and two guests) and no tea bags. We had to find a member of staff who happily provided the missing towel and teabags - but if we hadn’t have made the 20:00 cut off then we would have been stuck. Despite the room not being ready for more than two hours after the advertised check in time, we were not offered a late check out to make up for the lost time, instead we were expected to check out at the advertised 10:00. That’s barely 38 hours for a two night stay at over £150. It didn’t feel good value. Also, to add insult to injury, despite the extra two and a half hours cleaning time, the room was not clean — empty wrappers and rubbish under the bed, the shower tray was filthy, the cups had crusted in sugar from a previous guest’s use — and it just generally didn’t feel clean. The room also had no sockets for guest use without crawling under the bed or unplugging the bedside lamps or fridge. And the mattress was very old and uncomfortable, you could feel every spring and it made for a very poor night’s sleep.
The staff were friendly Bar area comfortable
The room was dated and cold especially the bathroom with a stone floor The shower was mouldy and lacked attention No English tea bags 🙁
Food was good and shower pressure was good and WiFi was good
Booking.com says breakfast is included in the email you get sent and when you arrive they dont mention anything about its not being included only in a small paragraph it says its a room only basis. So breakfast is not included If I had know this I would of not had breakfast and for thag price I wouldnt of stayed there
great location and nice locals pub. helpful staff.
Parking was difficult but got a space eventually. The room were very dated and the furniture resembled your grandparents house. Nothing matching and very old. bed was hard and the shower room was ok but dated.
Love the quirky bedrooms
the shower was hot & powerful greeting staff were lovely
bed was MEGA uncomfy, hard & could feel every spring, mattress far too thin found empty wrappers, bottles under bed, stuff in drawers & ?? red/brown stain on bottom of sheets over cleanliness was seriously lacking
Location. Food excellent along with good service and very friendly staff
Room small, Partially en suite. Room could have possibly been redesigned more appropriately within in an Old building. Breakfast only served Fri-Sun Not available for us despite Booking.com stating included but Plough Web site made it clear it would not be available. Similarly midweek Restaurant menu is more limited. Suggest restricted menu contributed to excellent quality of what was served.
The room was cosy and functional for the cost. There was very little noise considering we were above a very very busy pub. The location is easy to walk to from Bicester North Station and is great for wandering into Bicester.
When we arrived we were told they had no room for us to eat or drink with them during our stay which we thought was a bit poor. We had breakfast there the next morning and it was subpar for the prices being charged.
Really lovely room, above a great pub with a central location. The room was clean, with all amenities. Perfect location for a stay in Bicester!
Nothing
The room was a good size. It was cheap, last min booking for work stay.
Heating hardly worked, manager said he turned it up, made no difference. WiFi didn't work in the room Room pretty tired looking, bathroom very poor, needs a refurbishment. Its ok as a stop over for a night for work, but that's about it. I wouldn't go back by choice, rather pay a bit more elsewhere.
Location
Very disappointing and frustrated that my complaint has fallen on deaf ears despite contacting the property twice!! Room was clean and bed was comfy There wasn’t any heating in the bedroom. The temperature outside was below 0’c and the room was freezing. I had to wear clothing in bed to try and keep warm. Despite my efforts I had very little sleep due to the cold!!
Stylish pub/bar with authentic rooms. Locartion is close to the center in Bicester and not far from the pedestrians area.
It was not clear if breakfast is serviced or not - in fact it was not. Stairs are quite narrow for elder people (not a problem for me but for a colleague travelling with me). Pub was audible in the room, but it closed at 2200, so no peoblem.
Good location Quirky Friendly
No breakfast Could do with some modernisation
friendly staff very helpful
was bit drafty but they had spare blankets so was okay
Great hotel beautiful food and staff amazing
No plug sockets near the bed thats only reason I lowered score but excellent and would thoroughly recommend
Lovely place in a great location.
I was surprised the pub close at 2030 on the Sunday.
Very welcoming and friendly, very accommodating and helpful. Good food too. The room was clean and comfortable and was perfect for our one night stay, thank you Emma and team.
There wasn't anything we disliked.
Clean towels and coffee making facilities
The room had tired decor and was in need of refurbishment for the price £108 for one night without breakfast.
Very picturesque, great decor and really well equipped room.
Was very, very cold and the bed being quite old was very loud when moving in the night so wasn't a comfortable nights sleep.
We stayed at this hotel for just one night, but the experience was very warm and pleasant. Huge thanks to the polite and caring staff. We also loved the decor and atmosphere of our room. Everything was very cozy!
Good location
Very small-ensuite.
The friendly atmosphere and the fact that it is not part of a big chain so it felt more personal. Evening meal and breakfast were both superb.
Really small niggle. The location of plug sockets in the room. For example we had to boil the kettle on the floor which wasn’t ideal.
The staff were really friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and the bed super comfy!
The room was really lovely and the pub very nice too.
The mattress was extremely uncomfortable and is in desperate need of replacement
