Provider-sourced guest reviews.
I liked the location, and I liked the welcoming from the staff. The setting of the hotel is very pleasant because it is very quiet. I liked the privacy of the room I was allocated, it was not noisy and it was on the fringe of the main building.
I felt the room I was in felt very 'tired' and dated, and needed some refreshing. Some of the lights in the room didn't work at all and some flickered when they were on. There was a musty 'old persons' smell in the wardrobe and in the drawer units which was rather off putting - it meant I didn't wish to leave me belongings in those spaces. In the dining area there was a system - it required guests to stand at the entry point and 'wait to be seated'. I couldn't quite understand the intention or rationale for this to be necessary. It would have felt more welcoming to have been able to freely choose a table to sit at. It was almost as if by waiting to be ''given a place to sit' was in contrast to the idea that guests were choosing the hotel, but not invited to be able to choose where they sat at meal times. 🤔🤔🤔
Nothing was awfull
The hotel was rundown our room smelled of damp bathroom really bad. Shower terrible.we had flies / flees in the room all night. The leisure facilties were really bad. Jaccuzi was filthy. Steam room was rotten and changing area . Metal old doors on changing cabinets did not work. Shower was really old. We did not feel it was value for money. Reception new about the damp and offerd us no refund. Would ever stay there again
The location, the facilities and the breakfast were all excellent. Everyone from reception to restaurant was helpful, friendly and courteous
Some of the decor was a little bit tired, but there really wasn't anything to complain about
Location was good. 30 minutes to the town centre. Staff were welcoming and polite.
The room was very small and the furnishings in many aspects were tired and the room.not that clean. Shower pumps were very noisy, so you could hear the neighbouring rooms when in use. The view from the room was non-existent but private.
Very homely feeling hotel. Pleasant and friendly staff. Excellent food.
Nothing to dislike.
Brilliant on site facilities very tidy and well kept building
Although I am aware that it is a old building can’t help but say it does have a very strong old furniture smell other than that I can’t really fault the place
Staff are amazing and the building is impressive. Great food too!
Needs a little updating but adds to the charm
Beautiful hall and building ,lots of space to sit inside and outside .Swiming pool ,sauna and jacuzzi , help after tired day .I can't swim so I enjoyed jacuzzi 😊. Service was very kind and helpful.
My room had view on car parking and I not feel ok without any net in window,of course they have curtains but when them close it was dark in the room . In my opinion the restaurant and bar should be open a bit earlyer because some people can be hangry before 6:30(open time). I've booked table at 6:30 but my food get after 45 min ,for me waiting time was to long ,so next day I earned somewhere else.
Very nice staff checked us very easy! Twin room, big enough, clean. A little dated. Good fitness and pool, again a bit dated. Breakfast fantastic! Lovely staff and food! Lots of parking. Easy reach to so many attractions. Left feeling happy and relaxed. Than you! 78 yr old dear Mother in photo! ❤️❤️❤️
Good location, clean and tidy common spaces, friendly staff Shame about the staff shortage on Sunday morning causing queues and delays at breakfast.
The pool water felt very heavily chlorinated. Despite showering after my swim, before getting dressed, I had itchy skin for a couple of hours afterwards
Lovely conveniently located hotel with comfortable beds and rooms. The spa facilities were great. Set in sloping gardens with outdoor bar area in summer. Staff were extremely helpful.
Nothing
Staff were delightful and the location is good. And there's a pool.
It's in desperate need of some proper investment. Very badly outdated. Basically needs a major upgrade. No sockets by the beds, showers a trickle, toilets don't flush, wear and tear everywhere. Could be great but needs *a lot* of TLC.
Rooms were very clean and of a good size.i had a very comfortable double bed in my room. Plenty of parking on site with no charges. Buffet breakfast with plenty of options. Has gym and pool which us a good option.i did not use so can't comment further.
Was a fair way from the town centre.was around a 25 minute walk
The staff and location are all that is positive with this hotel
It is very tired and dated and doesn’t feel clean. There is a very odd smell in the air. Such a shame as it could be a beautiful hotel.
Great location, plenty of parking and swimming pool
Room was bit tired, wardrobe door hanging broken, not shutting, pool looked clear and clean, lot of stained broken tiles, pool overflow plastic grating broken. hot tub had lot of dirt in bottom, put off using it.
Staff helpfulness
Decor dated.
Good location set in well maintained grounds.
The bedroom was very hot. Maybe due to its position. We had to ask for and pay a deposit on a fan for the room.
Piscine et salle de gym
Le surcoût étonnant pour les chocolats des enfants au petit déjeuner. Hôtel qui n'est pas très bien entretenu, un peu snob et vieillot.
I did liked the location, accommodation, service and very friendly staff
Friendly staff and great food!
Nothing I love it here that’s why I keep coming back
Food was great, huge portions, fresh and hot. But you did wait because of that. Waiting staff were all students, very sweet but not trained waiting staff so errors in service but very accommodating when error was pointed out. Immediately rectified situation. Breakfast was a bit chaotic, lack of crockery etc but again once pointed out very attentive.
N/A
Very friendly and attentive staff. The room was very spacious and clean. The leisure complex was better than anticipated.
The bedroom and hotel furniture and decor is dated.
Breakfast was excellent. A good start to the day.
Nothing
The rooms were clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet and the staff were welcoming and helpful. I was there for my 60th birthday and was given a card from the staff which was a lovely touch
The butter portions at breakfast were a bit minimal and the coffee was too weak for me as I like a strong coffee in the morning but otherwise everything was great
It was in a good location
The bed was very uncomfortable the breakfast was very salty
Good food and excellent surroundings
Leaving !
The bedroom was lovely, and we had a view over the front of the hotel towards the sea in the distance. It was tidied every day and complimentary shower gel, tea and coffee etc, replenished. Breakfast also was brilliant. The pool was lovely (although the changing facilities could do with updating). The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There is sufficient car parking available.
The bathroom let our particular room down. Whilst everything was clean and towels changed daily, the bath panel had a crack in it which was unsightly and also the rubber bath mat provided had seen better days. Was surprised that in view of the excellent care and attention that was given to providing clean towels every day and refilling the tea/coffee containers and the shampoos etc, a new bath mat should not have been a problem and would have made a big difference. We managed to find a car park space every day but went out in the car every day as found the hotel was just too far and too hilly for us as two 70 plus year olds, to be able to walk into town or the beach even, obviously not the hotel's fault. (We would add we didn't actually find the Gyllyngvase beach till the last day as found car parking everywhere in town and elsewhere extremely difficult and expensive.) Wish had found it earlier but we did tour round to other towns etc.
Old style but comfortable with gym, leisure pool, bar and restaurant
Nothing
Location . Room was clean and comfortable and staff welcoming and friendly .
Nothing
Chambre familiale très spacieuse Beaucoup de rangements Calme des lieux Très bonne cuisine , que ce soit le petit déjeuner ou le dîner Personnel très accueillant et agréable
Everything was first class, very big room with plenty of space.
Not too many choices
No greeting TO GUESTS, cleanliness, bath towel with hair, bleech smell strong
Stayed here on Sunday evening and had the most delicious dinner, definitely worth a visit.
We had a family meal for my Aunts 90th birthday at the Penmere Manor last Thursday. The food was excellent as was the service. The staff went out of their way to make sure that we enjoyed the evening. Highly recommend.
Spacious rooms. Relaxed environment. Friendly staff.
If having heavy baggage, upper floor rooms not recommended. In summer, fan should be provided at no additional cost.
Extremely noisy. We could hear everything in the bathrooms adjoining our room. In the morning a group of tourists waited outside our window and woke us up. There was a diesel luggage buggy which also parked outside leaving the engine running which omitted fumes into our window and was so so loud.
Lovely old building with fab gardens
Nice grounds, spacious room, quiet.
I loved the pool and jacuzzi it's not close to the town. I will say there is not enough plugs we needed a fan so if I wanted a cup of tea I had ti put the kettle on the floor as there was only 2 plugs. Breakfast was ok we asked for cheese on it and was told no so that was a bit random when it's on the breakfast menu ! Overall lovely place great reception staff would stay again. Parking was great always a space available. Be aware you can't take any take-aways to your room as you get charged 10 GBP that's silly we thought. The grounds are absolutely stunning and well maintained.
Not enough plugs in the room Little far from town Not very flexible at breakfast
Lovely building and gardens, very nice swimming pool and jacuzzi, also has a gym. Staff are very nice and helpful. Not too far from town, only 15 minutes to the beach.
Some very minor random things are a bit shabby and need renewal.
Freindly staff
Room was very hot no fans
Location is fantastic and staff friendly. The gardens are lovely and the variety for breakfast is good.
For the money, it’s dated and the bed were uncomfortable. This hotel could be amazing if they modernised it.
Good location. Gym facilities and pool. Breakfast included in price. Clean. Comfortable bed. Gluten free options at breakfast. Fans were available to borrow (deposit given) to cool warm room.
Furniture and fittings a little dated. Shower was fiddly to use/get to right temperature. Ordered gluten free breakfast took an overly long time (45minutes) to arrive (poached eggs, smoked salmon and gluten free toast), watched four other tables arrive after us, order food (similar orders) and receive their breakfast before ours arrived.
Beautiful location
The duvet
Grounds and outlook
The hotel decoration is a bit tired
Good menu for breakfast. Room nice size but dated. nice pool and gym
Lovely setting in beautiful grounds. Nice pool area, room very comfortable and staff friendly and attentive. Breakfast excellent
Nothing.
Lovely welcoming hotel. Great for walking SWC path. Excellent staff, very relaxing surrounds, great food.
All good, we were able to get a fan from the lovely reception staff.
The leisure facilities were good and the lounge areas were handy . The staff were very friendly and helpful
The room was a little small and very dated . The breakfast was ok . We didn’t eat dinner there as it was a bit pricey
A very elegant building with an interesting history. There is a wonderful view from the terrace. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. We liked the feeling of being in a traditional hotel with all the values that entails. We stayed in one of the cheaper rooms, but it certainly did not feel like it. Breakfast in the dining room was excellent. It was a buffet style breakfast, but way better than any other buffet breakfasts we have tried. Any extra items not on the buffet were cooked to order. Will definitely come again.
We couldn't find fault with anything.
The staff were lovely - there was a new girl working there, i think she had only been there a couple of weeks. She is a real asset; easy to talk to and obviously very hard working
Hotel stands in beautiful grounds Staff very friendly Food was good
Nothing
Was a great location
I struggled to get in and out of the bath as was a bit high for me - should have requested an accessible room.
Functional room
Terrible breakfast
The hotel and room was very comfortable and homely. It was in a quiet location and only a short drive into the town centre. The pool and leisure facilities were great and it was also good to watch some of the world cup matches in the hotel bar. The food was very good indeed, lovely breakfasts. But most of all, I'd like to commend the staff for their friendliness and competence. Thanks for a lovely stay.
location, quietness, staff
my west facing room was far too hot in the afternoon/evening - could have done with a fan or air conditioning
Nice room bar and lounge
No water in room No form of food on offer between 9am till 6.30 am and you are charged £10.00 for bringing in food
Very clean and friendly staff
Sehr ruhige Lage und sehr freundliches Personal. Sehr schöne Anlage Viele Angebote wie Fitness und Schwimmbad
Für Brotauswahl sehr wenig und würde auch nicht nachgefüllt.
Dated and nothing special about any of it
Cost effective
Tired
Stayed for a couple of nights during the Falmouth Sea Shanty festival; this was an excellent base. We walked (20 mins) or got a bus into town and there's also a train from nearby Penmere station which is the cutest little branch line. The hotel itself is splendid, very well kept, friendly staff. The pool is lovely, big windows onto the grounds, and there is also a little sauna. Breakfast was excellent, delicious kippers, good selection of traditional english breakfast foods. Our room was exactly as pictured and as I expected and was perfect for our needs. Would go back for sure.
Nothing
We had a lovely, spacious room. The hotel is very nice and the staff were all really pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed a good meal in the restaurant.
There were absolutely no plugs by either side of the bed.
Quiet and lots of space
No air con
Room capacity nice.
We have been waiting for more than one hour for breakfast, which is unacceptable. We still have not been given a table. We are travelling with two children, and they are hungry. We have already complained to the reception staff, but no action has been taken. This level of service is very disappointing.
Excellent hotel with friendly staff. We travelled by train which was slightly unreliable… but didn’t spoil our trip! Lovely room ( superior double) Only negative was the VERY firm mattress !
Very good - lots of choice
Secure WiFi was not available
The staff were very welcoming and always ready to help.thaey were so friendly and always took time to speak
Nothing to dislike, absolutely perfect
Free swimming pool
To far out from centre of town
Hotel set in lovely grounds, food was lovely.
Nothing
The staff were brilliant. Really friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant was good too.
For the rate we paid, the rooms really need a bit of TLC, it’s very dated and none of the furniture matches, you can see where paintwork has been patched up but the colour doesn’t match etc.
Staff were brilliant. Evening meal was good
Hotel needs updating, hot water in shower was uncontrollable. First room was smelly, curtains were falling for the rails, towel rail hanging off the walls.fridge did not switch off and was rusty. Blinds didn't work. Only one member of staff to cover bar and dining room during the evening.. too expensive for state of the hotel.
Sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit
Very comfortable room, welcoming ataff and excellent breakfast
The meals were good.
The budget room which we had was very small, and the shower and toilet was very small.probably better suited as single rooms.
We have visited twice, both at short notice, in the past couple of months. The staff are fantastic, pleasant and polite. We had one evening meal and all our breakfasts there and enjoyed them all. We have stayed in a 'garden room' which was a fabulous size and amazingly, for a hotel, had plenty of coat hangars in the wardrobes! For our second stay we were in a budget room, which was smaller than the garden room but was clean and tidy and had all you could need. For our second stay we were unfortunately there to attend a funeral. The staff could not have been more accommodating, they made what was a stressful enough day a little bit easier. We would definitely go back.
Friendly staff, clean rooms and a tasty breakfast
Was unable to walk to Falmouth but to far for me
Nettes Personal, warmer innenpool mit Jacuzzi, Zimmer groß, Frühstück top, schöner Park
Hotel insgesamt etwas in die Jahre gekommen, Lage ist etwas außerhalb des Zentrums
The staff were lovely. Our room was large and clean with a comfortable bed. The shower worked well. The breakfast and evening meal were both excellent.
The decor is rather tired and dated.
Good breakfast, and had dinner in the restaurant which was very good!
The room was a little small
Fantastic location, excellent service, and delicious breakfasts. Our room was a little warm, but the staff were great and quickly provided a fan to make us more comfortable.
The room was clean and spacious, the bunk beds ideal for our kids. Friendly staff. Decent pool. We would visit again.
They seemed to be a bit understaffed.
The room was very nice, spacious, and clean. The staff were very helpful and polite.
Some things like the swimming pool area could do with some up keep.
Great value for money. Beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the complimentary tea, coffee & biscuits in the room and appreciated the toiletries in the bathroom. Facilities were great and we enjoyed a swim, sauna and jacuzzi in the morning. Buffet breakfast was delicious and even included a menu with items which could be made to order. Overall really enjoyable stay, will be back
Nothing
Great
Staff were lovely and location was great 5 mins from shops, petrol station and beach
Pool very very run down, had a 3 year old with me & most the tiles were hanging off, one I had to put on the side as it was actually hanging off the steps where my little one was climbing into the pool, so extremely sharp & the windows were filthy, needed a good clean including the pool. Also meal time, my brother in laws meal was just totally forgotten about, they brought our food out and not his and then said sorry it’s going to take long to cook the chef forgot about it, so he didn’t eat.
Pauline & I, found out room spacious and very comfortable. It had large double aspect windows, so it was very bright. The bed was large and comfortable. There was only one down side and that was the many seagull nest on the adjacent flat roof. This did cause gull noise throughout the night! We only had the one night, but anyone staying longer, could find the gull noise even more of an issue. Especially when the young are born! We would like to praise Will, who was excellent in the restaurant and bar. He gave a first class service.
The hotel outside area could do with a spruce up, but it didn't spoil our overnight stay.
Kipper for breakfast was excellent.Fillet of pork ordered for dinner, never had a fillet of pork with fat on one edge I am sure it was a pork chop. After 40 years as a chef and easy spot.
Big room and toilet
Breakfast options were limited Furniture are very old so not seem super clean but linens are clean.
Where it was located and ti far from beach or town. View from room was lovely and we thought the rooms and interior was to the in keeping of the building.
The pool, spa and sauna was nice but we feel it needs an upgrade.
teeny tiny amount of shower gel/shampoo. shower a bit pathetic. otherwise fine.
Nice building
Bit dated
Its character, amazing staff and great facilities.
Nothing
Staff were very nice
Full of character
It's a hotel with a touch of elegance. If you want the usual plastic soulless hotel chains, don't come here. Yes, in parts it could do with a tiny bit of a facelift, but overall it was reminiscent of the elegance of yesteryear. The facilities were good. Some of the features of a more expensive hotel like room service and lunches they didn't offer, but as we never bother with those anyway it made no difference. The grounds are extensive and beautifully kept with ample free parking. The food was excellent and at reasonable prices. There was a good selection for the evening meal from steaks to burgers, from lamb to fish. The breakfast was super - the usual continental breakfast (cereals, bread, croissants, fruit, yoghurt etc) as well as z full English (bacon, eggs, sausage, hash browns, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes etc) but in addition you could order a la carte items like smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, porridge, kippers etc at no extra charge. Our room was large and spotlessly clean, with a super king-size bed, and a bath/shower. Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits are provided in the room. The staff were very professional and friendly. A special mention should be made of Will the bar manager who looked after us at breakfast and dinner. He was a consummate professional yet very friendly and of good humour. Single handedly hd madd our three night stay even better. The leisure centre was great. It's attached to the hotel accessed through the lounge and completely free for guests. The pool was a good size, the jacuzzi was perfect for relaxing, holding about four or five people (or more if you're friendly!) and the sauna held about four people comfortably. It was set around 75°C so not too hot. The sauna is non nude, (German guests please note,) so suitable for family use. The gym, though small, was relatively well equipped. Fresh towels were provided fir the leisure complex, a nice touch.
Nothing.
The hotel position, breakfast, staff helpfulness, pool, comfortable bed, quiet.
Swimming facilities need updating, they were looking very tired. As was the hotel decor generally. Our curtains were torn and half hanging off the rail for example. Also the hot water was scalding hot.
Comfortable room, friendly staff, good breakfast.
A long walk from main car park, although we were able to park at the top twice.
Been here many times now amazing staff clean good food and drinks all in under one roof
All
Un endroit charmant et romantique un voyage dans le temps!! La gentillesse du personnel avec une dédicace particulière au monsieur serveur au restaurant et petit déjeuner.
