Amazing breakfast, beds were so comfy and curtains let no light in at all.

Staff were amazing. Really friendly and went the extra mile.

Disappointing given we paid full price for a room and then the property tried to charge us again. We had 2 people staying in each hotel room not 1.

Our choice on hotel again after returning to Johannesburg. Located next to Monte Casino complex which has tons of restaurants, shops, a cinema, a bird park, bowling, games room for kids and a theater. The hotel has separate entrance making walking super easy and convenient. The hotel is well maintained and comfortable. Staff was exceptional through our entire stay. Always friendly and willing to help. The rooms were comfy and had all the amenities. Breakfast was good with a wide variety of options.

Our stay at the Palazzo at Montecasino was exceptional. The hotel is beautifully maintained, the rooms are luxurious and comfortable, and the staff were warm, professional and attentive throughout our stay. The breakfast was outstanding with a great variety of fresh, high-quality food, and the location with direct access to Montecasino made everything incredibly convenient.

There was very little to fault during our stay. The only issue was with our late checkout. We had requested it in advance, and it was arranged and confirmed the night before. However, after returning from shopping, we found that our room key had been deactivated and we were locked out of the room. Better communication between staff regarding confirmed late checkouts would help avoid this. Despite this, the staff remained friendly and helpful throughout.

Room was so lovely. Welcoming treats and champagne really a great surprise. Can’t wait to be back.

Pillows were not firm. Mattress was terrible. And it needs to be pushed up against the headboard or else pillows fall inbetween the mattress and headboard. Carpets or something needs to be changed in the hallway walking towards rooms as there is this stuffy odour .

Location and staff

First hotel room (501) had leak from the bathroom and the bathroom didn't smell clean. The shower had very distinct urine smell. We then informed staff and moved to room 267 which were more noisy and the shower also had urine smell. The fact that none of the 2 rooms had a Smart TV meant that we couldn't get to watch sports (Wimbledon, Rugby, Soccer) which was disappointing.

O hotel é maravilhoso e tem uma atmosfera realmente incrível. As refeições, o quarto e todo o ambiente parecem saídos de um filme, de tão bonitos e bem cuidados. Além disso, a localização é muito boa e, no geral, a experiência foi excelente.

O principal ponto negativo foi a internet, que não funcionou bem na maioria dos dias. Além disso, a TV não é smart e tem poucos canais, o que pode incomodar em uma estadia mais longa. Recomendo muito para lazer, mas para quem precisa trabalhar durante a viagem, talvez não seja a melhor escolha.

Easy access to Monte casino and pretty gardens

The WiFi was bad and I had work to do,I felt for the price you should have access to Netflix like a lot of other hotels offer. The satellite didn’t offer many channels. I had a very scary incident with the hairdryer that had been damaged and had exposed wires and when I switched it on it sparked and flames and sparks came out and almost caught fire to the carpet and blew out the tv and the wall plug sparked and shot out flame.I told the hotel and they didn’t offer a discount or seem to care very much.

The guest indicated that the room was ice cold on arrival and immediately made the entry to the stay unpleasant Additionally, for the amount of money spent at your establishment, versus the other establishments we have used and paid for, a still water and biltong request was going to be charged to us. Other establishment have included small snack requests.

Maybe think about updating furniture etc. Bed really needs to be replaced, as well as carpet needs a proper clean or replacement. A lot of scratches and dents everywhere in room. Would be fine if I was paying less but for that price I want 5 star not 3

Impressive building based on old Italian style Lovely ground, staff friendly small but functional gym. Had breakfast in room on first day, very small portions advise anyone not to do it as you cannot go back for more like at the buffet! However very nice. Room was on lower floor with doors opening into the garden with small patio and seating. Nice bird park right next door.

Only there 2 days saw they did high tea and had time befor going to airport. Went to book day before to be told needed 48hrs notice! Room very tired looking tv channels very limited unless you like sport. Room right opposite dining area so couldn't really have curtains open as could be seen from there.

It was an amazing place.

The fact that we paid so much and the TV did not work in the room. We were told they had DSTV issues at reception, but nobody bothered to tell us when we checked in that the particular room we were in, had a TV that did not work.

The staff were so friendly. The room service menu wasn't too bad. The breakfast was okay...not as grand as their counter part (The Palace in Sun City).

More towels in the room (why would you only have 2 bath towels and two hand towels and 1 floor mat?? . Actual face towels would've been good. Bath robes (gowns) would've been good. The sink doesn't drain water fast enough. Complimentary water and biscuits or something to accompany the tea station would've been good. Tvs that have streaming apps would be good. The wifi was not fast. The wall plugs dont hold the 2 pin charging sockets... they fall off unless you balance them on something. The rooms are not sound proof (room 221)... you hear alot of what's happening outside (people laughing and doors banging)

The room was lovely and super comfy bed, breakfast spread is always very tasty and the pool is great too.

Breakfast service was slow - not offered hot drinks or asked about the hot food order on our first morning so we missed out on that and after our room was cleaned, all towels were taken from the room (including hand towels and bath mat) and not replaced which we had to chase a few times before this was rectified.

The hotel is a little dated - we have been coming since many years and have not seen any major updates or renovations. As much as we like to "traditional" style, I think the hotel could use an update.

As regular patrons, we like the friendly staff, good service, good rooms (we recommend the garden wing, with patio) and the ambience. Brekky is never a let-down, staff almost over-attentive, and great variety. We 'use' Palazzo to access the great shows at Teatro and Pieter Torein. You get safe exit and re-entry to the hotel from Montecasino, a boon.

There's nothing we don't like, but after 3 previous comments on weak WiFi in the garden wing, it really DOES need attention! We also were pleased to see a maintenance team busy caulking skirting, and so forth. There are lots of door handles and locksets needing some care, attention, and polish throughout; only fitting to match aesthetics with the great service levels.

I stayed for 2 nights, and they DID NOT CHANGE THE SHEETS between the nights. The bathroom was stinking of something really weird like building work/mould smelling. It was really gross. The room was not clean, it was dusty in corners and old smelling. Furnishing was super old. NOWHERE NEAR A 5 STAR!

House keeping, the lady sited that she had two floors to clean and she came I around 2pm she didn’t change the line Hoover the floor, and wanted leftovers food from the previous night kids dinner, she was very inappropriate and didn’t treat me as a guest, more training for some of the housekeeping ladies as to how to treat guests

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The gardens and grounds are an absolute joy.
