Too hot to sleep. The provided fans were helpful but really wanted to just open those windows more so I could breathe!

Some rooms were poorly lighted. Front second floor rooms can be noisy due to street/ pub noise. Restuarant was very good!

A great spot in Kilkenny close to everything. Parking is available at E17.50 a day in the parking lot next door. Lovely room a bit stuffy as can’t open windows but overhead fans were available.

The location is in a terrific location close to the city center. Walking is easy to a wide range of amenities, restaurants and other shopping. The on-site bar is fantastic!

They did not have air conditioning in the rooms, which I thought they did, so that was a surprise. But the open air from balcony door was nice.

A perfect location to access historical sites, galleries, restaurants and shops. An excellent dining room in hotel’s stylish restaurant, Ember, with table service for breakfast and live music in the hotel’s bar with complimentary drink all contribute to a most relaxing experience.

first day breakfast was very poor asked for soft poached eggs served very hard also white pudding tasted sour. unfortunately second day same thing otherwise we had a great stay and we have been in the hotel many times and really enjoyed

Il bagno nella nostra stanza aveva la vasca da bagno, anziché la doccia ed era scomoda. Inoltre, era distante dalla camera da letto perché c'era un piccolo corridoio interno che univa la camera da letto al bagno.

Die Lage war sehr gut und das Personal freundlich.

Das Zimmer war heiß und das Fenster mit einem Schloss verriegelt. Klimaanlage gab es keine. Die Unsitte, das Öffnen von Fenstern im Hotel zu verhindern, hat auch in diesem Hotel zugeschlagen. Das hat uns leider den Aufenthalt verdorben.

Bagno della camera familiare indecente: vasca con tendina, con macchie nere di muffa, odore cattivo. Moquette piena di macchie, tavolino appiccicoso. Colazione basica, di qualità standard. Da un quattro stelle ci si aspetta maggiore pulizia e cura

Le welcome drink promis à l’accueil m’a coûté 23€ pour 2 apéritifs sans alcool au lieu de la gratuité annoncée. Motif avancé par le barman : cette gratuité ne valait que pour certains apéritifs, ce qui ne m’avait pas été précisé à l’accueil. Mais le barman n’en avait cure. Fort désagréable !!

Love The Hibernian. Central location. Always spotlessly clean. Free drink on arrival a nice touch. Comfortable rooms. And excellent breakfast.

No AC in rooms. Had 2 fans running trying to cool down but the room was like an oven. No newspapers available in reception. When i asked where i could get some the receptionist didn't know. No parking available, only public. Found out from the carpark attendant that there was a weekend rate. Hotel should know these things and i would think subsidise car park fees

It was an absolute pleasure staying at the kilkenny Hibernian Hotel the staff were so friendly and the service was fantastic i would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family

Accommodation was definitely not 4 star. Room was old and tired. Bathroom was shocking. It would be more like max a 2 star One of the bar staff was rude & dismissive. Hotel no longer has parking deal with Ormonde car park So overall very disappointing and will not be going back especially since it is an expensive hotel

The staff were attentive, helpful, and courteous. The location is terrific right in the middle of the Medieval Mile within walking distance of many attractions. The restaurant Ember was terrific. The bar had great traditional Irish music to enjoy in the evenings. The historic building was charming.

Unfortunately, we came during a six week drought in Ireland and the temperature was very hot. The lack of air conditioning made our stay a little less pleasant than we preferred.

The hotel sells itself just for the location

It’s an opulent hotel that’s a bit dated and you have to pay for your own parking in the garage that’s across the street.

The staff were so friendly and helpful! We loved the old feel of the hotel but it was very clean. Breakfast was really good too! The hotel was very central but not noisy.

The hotel was beautiful perfect location rooms gorgeous even had fans installed. Reception staff at checking in and out the next morning so friendly a joy to deal with. Thank you. Had food in the bar on the first evening staff and food were excellent. Would definitely recommend location was so handy and having the public parking block next door so convenient just parked up the car and explored kilkenny. Really lovely break ☺️ thank you

Zu teuer! Die Zimmer und Badezimmer müssten dringend renoviert werden. Das Frühstück könnte abwechslungsreicher sein und der Lift ist seeeehr langsam.

It was beautiful inside and outside. It was in a fantastic location.

Outside our window was very noisy, rang reception and said it was the kitchen fans and be off at 10, unfortunately this was not the case.

Hôtel bien situé, chambre très grande, même trop presque. Dispose à la fois d'un beau pub et d'un restaurant tous deux séparés.

Cependant, hôtel vieillissant où l'on voit qu'il nécessiterait de gros travaux pour se moderniser, comme le prouvent les 2 ventilateurs mobiles disponibles ou encore le radiateur électrique (qui vient en plus du chauffage peut-être défaillant ?). Des équipements comme un lecteur DVD n'ont pas trop d'intérêt, tout mériterait d'être optimisé pour éviter de se poser des questions sur ce que c'est censé combler. Les fenêtres sont bloquées pour ne s'ouvrir que très peu et de toute façon si on les ouvre en même temps elles se referment avec le peu de courant d'air que ça provoque, ce qui fait qu'il fait assez chaud au 3eme et dernier étage, recouvert de zinc. De plus, la propreté n'était pas au top car ayant bougé les rideaux pour essayer de cacher un peu plus la lumière, j'ai vu de la poussière tomber. Enfin, des équipements étaient défaillants ou non utilisables, comme une lumière qui clignotait ou encore les jets dans la baignoire qui ne fonctionnent pas.

Location perfect right in the heart of kilkenny - with car park across the road( not hotels ) Lovely welcome when we arrived room ready . Room perfect - good comfortable beds extra pillows / blankets available/ tea/coffee facility. Bathroom had plenty of towels/ shower wash/shampoo/ hand soap. Aircon unit in room plus extra fan. Balcony onto street with room for chairs if desired. Hotel bar lovely had complementary cocktails voucher - yummy order another two as so nice. Did dine in as had other plans. Breakfast was lovely. Staff very professional and friendly. Would 200% stay again.

Everything about the hotel was LOVELY -- fun little bar with live music in evening, delicious breakfast, excellent location, etc. The downside for us was the VERY HOT room -- third floor with no air conditioning. Ceiling fan positioned too far from sleepers, two portable fans and a cracked window made for uncomfortable night -- be aware before booking. Bathroom was huge, but shower too small.

What an oasis of calm, friendly, quality charm. After a challenging couple of days and a stay in a basic hotel, we arrived at the Kilkenny Hibernian and immediately let out sighs of relief. We were welcomed so warmly, and felt at home straight away. Our room was spacious and well equipped, I’d seen reports saying ‘dated’ and whilst I understand what is meant, I’d like to frame it more as an elegance of yesteryear. I personally prefer a hotel to have its own personality rather than to be ultramodern and bland in style. The bed was really comfortable, shower good pressure, bath ran quickly. Lots of surfaces to put your toiletries and belongings, very generous wardrobe space. The only negative would be that there was a lot of external noise - live music that went on past midnight. This is in no way reflected on the hotel, it was from a venue nearby, but due to the warm weather we would have liked the windows open. (There was a ceiling fan and a desk fan to help cool the room, it’s just my preference to have fresh air at night). Breakfast was delicious with a wide range of options, and we visited the bar a couple of times - nice atmosphere and eager to please staff. I’d recommend for sure.

Great hotel in prime location literally yards from Castle,medieval mile bars&restaurants Rooms are spacious,clean and very nicely decorated. Lovely breakfast and food in bar is excellent. Staff we encountered were friendly, professional particular mention to Orla on reception who went over and above to make this stay and return visit in December 2026 very enjoyable.Over the years have stayed at Hibernian several times highly recommended

A very nice hotel, with perfect central location and exceptionally friendly staff.

The only thing I can mention is that the elevator in the hotel is probably the slowest one I have seen.

The location is great. Ember restaurant is lovely. The house- keeping staff were very helpful.

The room was over a very busy, very loud street and because the weather was so hot, we had to leave the windows open as there was no air conditioning. There are no fridges in the rooms. The bar staff didn't clear any tables in the bar in the evening.

Beautiful historic hotel in a perfect location. Lovely sized rooms and comfortable. Great staff and service in the hotel, pub and restaurant. The breakfasts were incredible. Lovely furnishings and decor.

Our room didn’t have a/c during a heatwave and the ceiling fan was very loud and disturbing for sleep. I think another style of fan would be better if a/c can’t be put into the rooms.

Hotel ma doskonałe położenie w samym centrum miasta. Smaczne śniadanie, w tym na ciepło z karty.

Brak parkingu - obok jest parking płatny za który zapłaciłam 17 euro za dobę. Uważam, iż hotel powinien tę opłatę przejąć. Mieliśmy 3 osobowy pokój, podwójne łóżko było na prawdę małe. Brak adaptera do kontynentalnych wtyczek, recepcja powiedziała, że wszystkie adaptery im goście zabrali i skierowała mnie do sklepu! Mimo że mieliśmy rezerwację i opłatę z góry na 3 osoby, w pokoju były tylko dwa komplety ręczników. Próba połączenia telefonicznego z recepcją po 3 minutach wysłuchiwania reklam została przez nas przerwana i musieliśmy iść do recepcji po ręczniki. Ten hotel nie ma klimatyzacji, a okna otwierają się na minimum (są złączone kablem). Przy suficie wiatrak obsługiwany pilotem przymocowanym na linkę (jak długopis na poczcie!). Brak sejfu i lodówki! W łazience wanna z prysznicem i kotara- nie jest to zbyt higieniczne a przede wszystkim woda leje się na podłogę. W pokoju ze ściany wystaje pokrętło, chyba do ogrzewania, ale kaloryfery są po drugiej stronie pomieszczenia. Meble w pokoju mają już swoje lata. Było niewielu gości więc nie odczuliśmy hałasu, ale drzwi kiepsko wyciszają i rano słyszałam trzaski drzwi. Na polskie warunki hotel nie dostałby więcej niż 3 gwiazdki.

Perfect location, hotel spotlessly clean, bedroom a good size and spotless too. Check in was made so easy. We booked in 9 people to the Ember Restaurant for evening dinner, beautiful food & very well presented… I will 100% be back to stay & dine here. There was a complication made with booking.com and all our rooms (4) were all cancelled (12am) !!!! On a very busy weekend in Kilkenny where all hotels were solidly booked out. I only noticed cancellation emails for the four rooms at 7:30am from the booking agent, got in touch with the hotel straight away hoping for a miracle ….. Aaron from the hotel gave me a call back a short while later, he got it all sorted for me, panic over, and at a better rate €€ than booking.com. Great staff, great hotel, great restaurant!!! Will be back for sure

Great location. In the heart of all the fun but not too noisy or crowded. You can walk everywhere.

The hotel rooms do not have ac. It’s totally fine 99% of the year but can be a little warm during the heatwaves.
