tout était super
We found the Northland Lodge quaint and comfortable and our hostess Jeanne very welcoming. It is conveniently located and with easy walking distance to the town of Waterton.
Nothing
The breakfast was excellent, as was the location right in the town next to the waterfall. We really enjoyed the hospitality.
We were in the basement suite which was a bit small and had some bugs that seemed to come in frequently. Mostly clean but the room definitely showed its age.
Nice bed-and-breakfast style inn, a couple blocks from town - close enough to walk to restaurants and shopping, yet "wild" enough to see bears and deer from the patio. Would recommend for couples or singles who prefer an older, well-maintained, semi-secluded inn over a busy condo hotel in town. The patio in the morning, with coffee, fresh-baked muffins, and a view of woods and wildlife, is highly memorable.
Rooms are small, and as such lack counter space for personal belongings. Fine for a 1-2 stay, but more than that could prove tiresome.
Breakfast - Just right and very tasty! Location - We liked that it was off the beaten path. A little hard to find when not familiar with the area and couldn't find it on our phone due to no cell service coming from the states. Enjoyed visiting with the owner and guests at breakfast very much. Our room was charming and loved the cross ventilation from big windows. The outside spaces were nice.
Would have liked a tv in our small room. Didn't like so much having to carry everything up a flight of stairs. I understand the house is old (in its own way nice) it just seemed for the price it was crowded. Although the price seemed high to us, I realize that in a tourist destination like this, it probably was very reasonable.
Good location. Enjoyed breakfast with other guests. Good muffins.
Great host. Food was delicious. Location was outstanding.
No air conditioning which was tough but managed with fans supplied by the host.
Unique little gem friendly host fresh home made muffins and jam with coffee in the morning close to all amenities Would definitely return
The staff was great and helpful. Location is beautiful very close to Cameron bay and Cameron falls/trail heads. Great muffins!
Excellent location and loved the personalized service! Love the warm muffins every morning and conversation with Stacy!! It was great having the patio to enjoy after spending the day exploring.
LOVED the location, the quaint/cozy vibe, the communal wrap-around porch. The gal managing was kind and even made a batch of nut-free muffins on our second morning to accommodate my daughter's nut allergy. Check-in was a breeze.
These weren't game-changers for us, but I was surprised by just how truly teeny/tiny the room was and the fact that there is no air conditioning. There isn't really room for two people's luggage and we had to keep our cooler and hiking things on the porch. Our room was also a literal sauna -- we faced West and the afternoon heat just cooked the place. The only way to manage the heat was to keep the outside door open as the evening cooled (which we didn't mind, but was a bit awkward for other guests) but there was no screen on the door so this was also a challenge in keeping bugs out. My husband has mobility issues and this property would not have worked for him at all... steep stairs to the rooms and teeny/tiny spaces wouldn't accommodate a walker. Just important things to no for those for whom these might be issues. Also -- bed is a double... not a queen :). My daughter and I are small humans but just know you will have very, very close quarters :).
Very cute and homey, a little like staying at Grandma’s
A fire alarm went off at 6:30 in the morning
Super cute B&B style chalet. Very comfortable beds and loved listening to the soothing sounds of Cameron Falls while falling asleep. Otherwise, super quiet area across from parkland. Beautiful deck to sit out and watch the stars. We didn't partake in the coffee and muffins but they both smelled amazing and we'd love to come back with more time to enjoy a leisurely morning. The host was very friendly and informative. This is a long-standing lodge, started by the host's grandparents!
Everything was fabulous. Just a little warm the second night and no AC. There was a fan in the room which certainly helped. I know they are trying to get split AC/heating units in the lodge and in current discussions with the Park. It was unusually warm and I don't imagine this would happen too often. The first night we enjoyed a beautiful breeze and fresh air from open windows.
Location, cleanliness, staff
Small rooms, could use a shower head wand so you had option of not having to get your hair wet every time you wanted to wash off
Breakfast was wonderful! Three different homemade muffins to choose from, coffee/tea and juice. Spacious spaces in which to relax: living room / dining room with LOTS of comfortable couches and chairs, and a wrap-around balcony with stunning views of the mountains and tables/chairs (some with umbrellas) outside of every room! Lots of interesting things to look at on the walls, and books to explore. Bed linens hung out to dry on clothesline warmed my heart!
We loved everything!
It was wonderful having outdoor seating. So many places do not have this.
It can't be helped because it is an old house, but the bathrooms was really small.
Awesome muffins in the morning.
Nothing
The location was superb and the staff very nice.
It is old and musty and the blankets are very dusty. There was a tick in our bathroom nothing you can do about that but it made us a bit nervous about the remainder of our stay
Beautiful location. Friendly, inviting atmosphere. Clean rooms. Unique room layouts but functional.
The location is great. The room was super clean and the muffins were divine!
Nothing
A lovely place to stay in Waterton. Our room was cosy, clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the muffins and coffee for breakfast were fantastic!
Nothing!
Location
Being put in the basement room, with no views
Thoroughly enjoyed the muffins - they were excellent!
Our room was quite cool in the evenings.
Very serene and quiet. Next time I come I will bring someone to enjoy it with
There was nothing lacking for what I expected. It met all my needs
The lodge was built in 1928 by the same folks that constructed the nearby Prince of Wales hotel - of world renown! Super enjoyable experience, very personable & friendly staff. Wonderful common areas, including a comfy sitting area & fireplace, outdoor wraparound deck on the second floor, and breakfast area where you are served coffee, juice and delectable homemade muffins! Like being in a B&B, really.
Very friendly staff and the living room is amazing so you have the chance to chat with other people. Muffins were also amazingly delicious!
Everything was perfect. Stacy was pleasant and accommodating. we give her at least a five star rating.
Very friendly. Loved muffins and coffee in the morning. Just a stroll from Cameron Falls.
Room was tiny. Couldn't properly stow suitcase and crowded even for a couple. Husband kept cracking his head on the low bathroom door frame. Hot and cold tap were separate so difficult to regulate comfortable water temperature in the shower and sink. Sorry, warm muffins aren't enough to give this place more than two stars for the elaborate nightly rate.
A fantastic and historic accomodation that makes you feel part of the Waterton ancestry.
Access requires you to drive on a single lane uphill road which leads you to a rear entrance & parking. Check in & Staff were helpful; however, you walk through the kitchen to get to the shared living room that's covered with bed sheets that have been washed & pressed followed by the front dining room which is cramped. Our room Bears Den - was sort of a bi-level lower unit where windows when open inward from the top to form a "V" shape are open or closed (nothing in between). Outlets are scarce with extension cords stretched across the room. Ceiling is low throughout but most noticable iwhen in the shower area. The price was reasonable, Cameron Falls is beside the property & a short walk (about 1/2 mile) to downtown Waterton.
Adorable and quaint lodge that is in the perfect location! Close to town, hikes and lake!
This lodge is very quiet, backed by mountains, and the night sky is stunning-perfect for photography. There is a dedicated parking space, so no need to worry about parking. Breakfast includes coffee, tea, juice, and muffins, all very tasty. The room is a bit small but cozy. The location is close to everything and within walking distance. We would definitely choose to stay here again.
We found that the room was too small for us. We shared a shower with another room downstairs; our room had a toilet & sink. No room for luggage. At night we placed our luggage on the floor and during the day we placed our luggage on the bed. Also, Expedia said it was "self check in" and it was not. Site manager was there to check us in and give us the room key. Breakfast muffins were excellent! Choice of 3 delicious flavors. Coffee, teas and juice available as well. Cameron Falls very nearby and all of Waterton is a short distance for walking ( within 10-15 minutes). Beautiful location. Next time we will choose a different room that has larger space and private shower.
Location
Room #8 was very run down
Had historical features which we enjoyed and the host was very nice. Could have used a/c but aleast there was a fan. Also liked that our room had a private deck.
Great place to stay close to Town.
This is a great place to stay in waterton if you're in one of the rooms on the top balcony. Unfortunately we haven't figured this out. Despite booking in June, we were left with the smallest room on the basement floor ( and right under the washing machine which started at 6:30 a.m.). Beds are comfortable. Host is lovely and great to get a muffin and coffee to start your day. Great location if you're doing the akamina Parkway hike, a little less so if you want to be walking distance frm the Lake.
Great place - host was excellent
Great muffins and coffee for breakfast. Appreciated the history of the building. Clean and comfortable!
Peaceful stay in a historic lodge. Friendly and helpful staff.
Maison à l’ancienne décorée avec beaucoup de goût. La dame est d’une gentillesse exceptionnelle et ses muffins étaient succulents.
Rien
Well kept and friendly staff.
Beautiful view Excellent management.
It was really cosy, and very close to the start of hiking trails like Bertha Lake and Boundary Bay. Our host was so friendly and welcoming, and the muffins she made for breakfast were delicious!
We appreciated the quaint, cozy room. The common area was great. We had a Continental Breakfast included. The homemade muffins were excellent and went well, with the Coffee and Juice. The pressed, line dried, sheets and the Bed were very comfortable. It is a quiet location and the room had good air flow. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The only thing I didn't like was there was some noise when a few people left on one of the mornings, as the way to the parking lot, is from room doors, that open to, the outside of the lodge. Since it isn't a really big place...this wasn't a big issue.
We loved our stay at Northland lodge. The property is small, clean and quiet. We enjoyed eating freshly baked, delicious muffins and having coffee while visiting with other travellers. Definitely would recommend!!
Fresh homemade muffins every morning that are excellent. Beautiful scenery beautiful classic house well kept up.
Such a cute place to stay! Great location and such kind hosts!
Hidden gem next to Cameron falls.
The freshly baked muffins are outstanding which together with tea, coffee, juice and optional chats with other guests provides a vacation feel to the start of your day. The location was ideal for us, providing easy access to hikes and a comfortable walk in and out of town for dinner. We enjoyed the alternate private access to our room via the steps and veranda. We also appreciated the flexibility around checking in as it gave us time to organise our stay in our room - the Danish Tree House. The room is double aspect with a sink and wc but with no storage - ideal for a one or two night stay but really no more. Space is very tight around the bed as the room dimensions make it more suitable to a single rather than a double bed. A shower is provided but it is located downstairs between the kitchen and another private bedroom so some guests might feel uncomfortable using this facility. Due to the glorious surroundings and good weather, the friendliness of the other guests and the goodwill of the locals we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Waterton and would willingly stay again at Northlands Lodge but maybe not in The Danish Tree House.
We liked it all. The horse was extremely friendly. The area was quiet and clean. It was a very short walk to watch Cameron Falls, which was wonderful. We would stay again anytime we are in Waterton.
Nice and cute historic cottage. Vey good for relaxing weekend get away
Very nice people .
Manager was awesome accommodating, friendly, and the homemade breakfast muffins were the best
Can’t think of anything
We enjoyed our stay, thank you very much
Quaint, cozy B&B in a perfect location. Rooms are on the smaller size, but it fit our needs just fine. We walked into town and to the marina during our stay in Waterton. Would highly recommend!
Friendly staff
The ambient sound was quite loud
We really appreciated the ability to drop off our luggage early. Actually, they had our room ready for us when we arrived! Also, the muffins are delicious!
Highly recommend...super friendly staff!!! Will book again
The history, the staff, and the area were incredible. A 10 min walk to the town. We had lunch on the balcony upstairs and it was so peaceful. The only downside was the room we had (the cowboy) was very small. And for the price we paid we could have gotten a better place that is bigger and more modern.
Wonderful short stay. The staff was wonderful and helpful!
Jeanie was awesome! Helpful in guiding us to wonderful places. Muffins quite tasty and served with juice, coffee and tea.
Very cute and great location
My room was cozy, comfortable and had a lovely deck area to sit with coffee, breakfast or supper. Fresh muffins, coffee, juice and tea for breakfast and the options of soups, bread and treats for supper. Walking distance to everywhere and convenient parking area. I will stay here again!
The Location is excellent, with a friendly host. The morning coffee and muffins were delicious. Our room however was very small with a shared bathroom on the floor below us (not ideal)
hominess, staff
This was an amazing property! It was lovely and relaxing
The property was extremely charming and the hospitality was unmatched! Stacy was very, very kind and her muffins were the best muffins we have ever had! My wife and I will definitely come back and visit again.
Nothing - everything was excellent!
Older cozy cabin. Convenient to walk to the town and waterfall. Quiet area, comfy beds. Muffins and coffee/tea for breakfast. It would be nice to have more than 1 plug in each room. It had its own entrance for the room we were in so you could enter through the lodge or via the deck. There was a common area with a tv, dvds, books and fireplace.
Jeannie, the property manager was great! We loved her muffins and to opportunity to talk with other guests at morning coffee.
We had a pleasant stay for 2 nights. Staff is friendly and always asking if we need anything. I like that there's always freshly baked muffins served in the morning and boy oh boy the muffins were so delicious. It's a quaint, quiet and clean lodge and we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.
Estelle was wonderful. It was so quiet and great view of the mountain and the stars. Room was clean and the robes were super comfy. Muffins for breakfast were made fresh and my wife said were some of her favourite muffins shes had! Very homey.
After a thoroughly-enjoyable visit 1 1/2 years ago we regrettably encountered a hick-up that forced us to cut our stay short: Our room (#3) had a non-locking external door, a non-functioning heater, a leaking toilet flapper valve, and a leaking west-facing window that could not withstand the October gusts, letting in cold air that overwhelmed the provided portable heater every time the wind blew. We were apparently the first visitors that brought these issues to management attention. All that said, this is a darling property with two very friendly hosts that were poorly served by their handy man.
Northland Lodge was an excellent place to stay while exploring Waterton Lakes National Park. You could walk to many of the trailheads from their accommodations, as well as area restaurants and shops. We enjoyed sitting in the cozy living room conversing with other guests about the trails they had taken. The morning breakfast was a great way to start our day and the homemade muffins were delicious. They offer a wonderful soup and salad dinner that's ready for you after a day of hiking. Our host, Stacy, was always willing to chat about our adventures and the wonderful area we were visiting.
Lovely old property with a lot of interesting history located in a quiet area. Easy access to walking or bicycling into the village, the lake or Cameron Falls. Small cosy room but still adequate & was clean & comfortable. Nice outside sitting areas. Delicious muffins for breakfast. Enjoyed our 2 night stay. Thank you Stacey!
