A lovely place to stay - views fantastic and a great breakfast to match .

Great location, tasty breakfasts and comfortable rooms
What a beautiful place to stop in the hotel overlooks the bay and our room had a sea view we were greeted from young friendly staff and hotel was full of surprizes from a library to stunning garden Breakfast was perfect and again the staff were exceptional
Nothing at all only that oir stay flew by
Very good, staff pleasant.. The lady EXCELLENT.
Nothing g for me .
The main hotel and grounds were very attractive with lovely views over the bay
When we booked the hotel there was no mention of the Rock House annex were we were situated being unsuitable for persons with mobility issues. The 2 minute walk mentioned did not state that part of the walk was along a badly lit section with steps, also badly lit, and a gravel surface (see photos) for elderly persons with mobility issues it was not safe! The path was badly signposted at the section nearest Rock House resulting in us, on arrival, taking a narrow entrance between stone walls which was wet, moss and weed covered and slippery (photo) The exterior of Rock House was, to say the least, uninviting (photo). I had requested a room without a shower over the bath as my husband would not be able to cope. On check in I was informed by the flippant receptionist that was unavailable and I had been notified - I had not either by phone or email. Our dinner that evening was of a very poor quality, food being overcooked, dry and tasteless. We did not risk breakfast there. The manager and deputy manager were both unavailable, one on holiday the other off duty, so we took our complaints, especially the Health & Safety issue up with the duty manager. Making all the right noises about understanding our issues we had the impression that we were down as a moaning old pair. There was certainly no sincerity in his response even though he informed us H&S was his responsibility and the moss covered entrance we had used was out of use. Why was it not therefore taped off when we left the next morning?
The location and the grounds
We were put in an annex not the main hotel. The room was very small and the walk to the room was difficult for someone of limited mobility. In addition the additional costs to use facilities in the spa was disappointing and unexpected,
The spa facilities were excellent amd the massage was perfect. The traditional hotel features were lovely as was the outdoor space and well maintained garden.
Reception
Absolutely faultless. Staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Beautiful location with an easy walk into Grange.
Good location with roomy car park on the edge of town. Pleasant sea view room. Food is restaurant was good quality & reasonably priced.
The bar was very small & somewhat dominated by diners. Wasn’t a problem as the weather was so good we enjoyed drinks in the hotel gardens
The room was small and it had one window which looked into a wall! The shower made a horrendous noise when switched in and the pilled were really lumpy and flat. For the money I expected at least something I would use at home. The floor creaked and we could hear people walking past as the floor outside the bedroom creaked. The breakfast was fab and the staff were lovely. It is an amazing hotel just needs some updating.
Super gelegen. Atemberaubende Lokation.
Excellent room with a fantastic view of the beach. Good choice at breakfast
Clean Room,Great Views,,Breakfast was lovely and plenty to choose from.
We enjoyed our stay and the food was perfect
Convenient location, beautiful building
Dangerous turning right onto the main road from the annex Rock House. Cars travel fast on a blind corner
All good thank you
Location amazing, local shops and restaurants, lovely walks and views.
The hotel room is very dated, the bathroom very small, view from the window blocked by one very dirty window. The whole hotel needs a complete revamp, the bar area again is very dated, the barman keeps disappearing, guests waiting to be served, £24 for 2 sandwiches that tasted dreadful.
Everything was perfect, all staff members were extremely helpful and very friendly
Nothing , everything was perfect
Lovely old world hotel with a charming feel. Nice proximity to Grange promenade and decent food/restaurant.
Thermal journey was a little pricey for what you got (just steam, sauna, hot tub for £25 each).

Gorgeous old hotel Fabulous food & surroundings Brilliant location & views
Bedrooms could do with a refurb but I realise the old fashioned furniture etc. adds to the charm. 5 ladies in 3 rooms,..2 out of 3 we could smell some damp. We went to the spa, which we loved, but struggled in the very small changing room.
Loved the oak panelling and the grounds.
Hotel has lovely gardens and is well located just 300m from Grange over Sands station and promenade.
I booked this room through Booking .com and a standard double bedroom was 20m2 or 215ft2. We were given a room in the attic 12m2 or 130ft2 with a cupboard sized en-suite. Room smelled musty. The hotel is old and is very dark even on a bright day. Furniture has seen better days. Dining room was hectic. Some guests waiting up to an hour after ordering for foo to be served, some ordering a desert and abandoning restaurant as it did not come.
The hotel was clean and well cared for, inside and outside. It looks much better in person than in the pictures. The check in team, spa team, housekeeping staff and grounds keeping staff all do a fantastic job. Smiles from every member of staff and the reception are too kind. Rooms are very clean and quiet with a modern TV. Requested a birthday surprise for my guest, the reception team and housekeeping staff signed a birthday card - it was not a generic card but had a lot of actual thought behind it. After thanking the staff, we were provided with complimentary white wine. I cannot thank the staff enough, the hotel is probably the best I have stayed in. Will be looking forward to my return to this charming place.
Slightly small restaurant and can fill up fast, but this is a very minor problem.
I've been a couple time before and it is always a treat to come here. Spa is lovely. Though it is a little on the expensive side, I find that it is worth it. The customer service, the location make this stay absolutely worth it. The surroundings and location are stunning; you can see right across the bay... The staff are superb, very polite and professional, the breakfast we had was fantastic too and the gentleman assisting us at breakfast was very kind and saw to our needs (gluten free bread and alternative milks).
My partner said the gym is a little on the small side but it had the essentials one could want for a quick work out.
Beautiful property in a great location. Our room looked out on the bay. Location great for walking into Grange over Sands.
Nothing g
Lovely surroundings, nice and quiet.
Driveway could do with being made smoother , some potholes hard to avoid.
Excellent, stylish hotel, comfortable rooms, fabulous food, and if I asked for anything it was swiftly and efficiently provided.
I stayed for 2 separate nights and on the 2nd occasion there was no bedside table. This was supplied when I asked for one, but it is a pity that there wasn't already one in the room. I think most people would need one beside their bed.
Beautiful location and staff were lovely, breakfast was very nice and a good range of food
.. dass für die Saunanutzung (90 Minuten) eine Gebühr von ca 31€ fällig wurde …
Everything was very very nice, would definitely come back, in fact we most definitely will.
Paid for the evening meal when booking £35 per head, just a shame you couldn’t use some of this towards a drink, you had to consume a lot of food for that amount of money
I arrived late and left early as I was staying for business so I can't comment on much. However my double room was a little dated but good with plug sockets next to the bed and mirror. I didn't have an evening meal but breakfast had plenty of choices.
My room had no blind and as there was one room that overlooked me from the side, I had to draw the curtains to get changed. A simple window covering would make a big difference. The breakfast as stated was lovely but the fruit on offer (already cut) was left in huge pieces. I ended up eating my melon pieces with a knife and fork in my cereal bowl. Not a complaint at all but it would have been good to have mouth sized pieces of melon/kiwi fruit etc.
Our Room 19, high at the front of the building. with a beautifull sea view.
The lift only going to level 2 and our room was on the 3rd level
Location and timeless comfort
All EV chargers not working that caused a lot of hassle and subsequent loss of time with freinds as we had planned to charge overnight which subsequently needed to be done next day, eating into the time we had planned to do other activities.
The great breakfast and close proximity to the train station and beach.
Great location. Beautiful old building. Helpful staff
My room, in the rock house had an open curtain allowing heat from the sun to build up all day, an electric radiator on and set at 23 degrees, a towel rail that was burning hot and therefore made the room even hotter (and although there was a sign saying it could be switched off, the switch indicated didn’t switch it off). Incorrect instructions as to where to park which caused delay in getting into our rooms
Staff were friendly and obliging and as we were attending our grand daughters wedding they made an extra effort to prepare our room early which was much appreciated. Everything was clean and food very good.
Room was very clean and comfortable but was ready for an up-date and re-decorating.
Welcoming environment, comfortable and lovely location.
Nothing I did not like
Very grand and imposing. Close to town and easy to park at hotel
Happy with everything
Wonderful location, close to the centre of Grange but quiet with beautiful gardens and views. We love the interior, maintaining the grandeur of the old yet having a light, airy modern dining area with the beautiful views overlooking the bay.
Staff were lovely and breakfast and dinner were great.
Nothing
Location. Room size
Noisy below room outside due to kitchen utilities.
Breakfast was well laid out & plentiful.
The weather!!!! 💦💦.
I had a a most enjoyable meal in the bar during the evening and then an excellent breakfast, freshly prepared with lots of choice. I was in a room to the rear of the hotel and quite close to the kitchen but I was not disturbed in any way, so thanks to the staff for their consideration. They are obviousy aware.
Nothing
Exceptional hotel. Great location, beautiful clean rooms, very tasteful interior the food is delicious and the staff are warm and welcoming. And its dog friendly. Superb
Room was excellent, Breakfast was excellent, Weather was excellent, Views were great, Staff were great
Location, staff very nice.
Food wasn't the best, breakfast was underwhelming really
It was clean, comfortable and in a quiet location. Lovely gardens.
Just a couple of issues with staff in bar and at checking out . Could be they were new and still learning their roles, seemed unsure in what they were doing.
Excellent management; I experienced tiny problems but a senior member of staff soon sorted them. Lovely food and super service from the restaurant and bar staff, not only quick and efficient but very friendly too. Even if the restaurant is very busy they can offer extra table in the bar, but this is an elegant bar (not like in a pub). The decor of the building is amazing, inside and out, it makes you feel very special as a guest.
I had two separate one-night stays, and on the 2nd stay there was no bedside table in my single room. However, when I asked a senior member of staff one was immediately provided, but I thought it was a pity that no-one had thought it necessary to have one in the room.
I really liked the hotel Peaceful location, but near to Grange. Access to the main road was a bit difficult but it’s not the hotels fault ! My friends and I were further away from each other and we would have preferred to be nearer It made things like unloading the luggage from the car. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty We would definitely stay again.
Rooms/ cottage a little too far away from each other.
Beautiful old building and grounds. There was an excellent choice of meals on the al a carte menu with a generous amount of money to put towards them. Handy base for the Southern Lakes.
Absolutely perfect location, with perfect view everything felt luxury and nothing was to much for the staff, I'd taken my mum for her birthday and they went above and beyond to make her feel like a princess, she didn't want to leave, nice touches to the bathroom with elemis shampoo and body wash, breakfast was wonderful and lots to choose from all exceptional quality, netherwood is the best hotel we have ever stayed at I will continue to keep coming here.
It's not so much what I didn't like, but the spa could definitely do with a good update, the beds some was totally broken and one if the aromatherapy rooms didn't seem to be working, also the hot tub you couldn't press it manually it wouldn't come on, the thunderstorm shower 1st setting scalded my back I think it may be set wrong I left with marks all over my back from it, the hotel was amazing but the spa wasn't very great especially if people are traveling far for it, (only 12 people allowed at 1 time)
I was given a fantastic room, really big with a good view over the bay. The Bathroom was beautifully fitted and clean. The breakfast and dinner were excellent as on my previous visits - I have been here several times before and I have always been very happy, and have recommended it to friends as well.
Unfortunately, the Library adn Lounge were out of use, and were seemingly set up for an event that didnt happen. This was a pity as it limited the number of p[laces for a quiet after dinner drink,
Superb cooked - self service & high quality breafast Excellantly kept cool Boddingtons Recently refurbed in sympathy with high quality historical propoerty by new owners & what a view !!!!😎☀️✅ seaview room a MUST
Slightly short on rest / bar staff on the nite -
Exceptional property, very beautiful gardens with exotic planting, maintained to high standard. Lovely hotel, gorgeous original feature lounges with fantastic fireplaces and cosy sofas and chairs. Courteous polite staff , loved our stay. Grange over sands has a beautiful promenade and lovely scenery, a lot more than I expected
Absolutely nothing, but would be advantageous if there was a pool
Location was great, near a number of things to do i.e. enjoyed hotel gardens which amazingly kept, walk on prom, saw lido now renovated, visited Cartmel and Arnside Beach on way home. The property was very interesting with history of old mill owners house with folly.
Lovely surroundings, friendly staff, just a really nice short break away with my partner.
*Great views *Friendly and welcoming staff
*No air conditioning, which made the room uncomfortable. *The Wi-Fi connection was unreliable. * The dinner menu was very limited after 8:30 pm.
Staff friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was excellent. Rooms were comfortable with great views.
Great location. Superior rooms had views over the bay. Great staff and good food.
No fridge in bedroom. No glasses for water.
Receptionist not welcoming.
It wasn’t clear when booking that we were in an annexe building
Its location
Very dated and it smelt damp in areas. Definitely needs refurbishing
Breakfast was very good ,lots of choices, staff very nice and helpful , will recommend to friends. Location and grounds very nice.
Nothing
Location Close proximity to railway station. Clean and a good bath/shower with lots of hot water.
No glass provided in room - only a single teacup for rinsing teeth etc! This is false economy. The worse thing was that the room was so small there was no room for even a tiny bedside table. Nowhere to put your book, phone, cup of tea etc except on the floor. The very small single bed might have been an issue for some guests. No view. A general feeling of cutting corners. Why is it that solo travellers nearly always get the worst rooms. It’s a real put off.
The rooms were lovely, the staff were amazing and very attentive for my mums 90th birthday celebrations
Great location, 5 minutes walk into Grange, beautifully old building with lots of character. Ease of parking. Elevated position looking out across the bay. Seating on the terrace to enjoy the views. Large rooms , loved the Library Room and the Lounge where you can sit, read, relax. Choice of areas to sit, eat and enjoy a drink. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and polite. Felt well looked after at meal times. Breakfast buffet was very nice with plenty of choice.
Central location and good breakfast
Evening menu
The location and grounds are beautiful. The breakfast was very nice.
Wi-fi did not work in our room. There was a prom going on in the hotel and grounds which was very noisy, and affected our plans for a peaceful stay.We had not been pre warned. Shower spray only had one setting, very slow. Although mostly clean there were signs of disrepair and mould growing in bath. .
Fantastic location, grandeur at its best, lovely stay, breakfast fabulous with great views.
Be good if there was a swimming pool on site 🙏
Superb view from room. Great breakfast. Very good staff.
Everything was as shown on Booking dot com.
Rooms were spacious , food was excellent, staff were friendly.
Nothing
Location & Staff
The Annex building were lovely, the issue was the Trees needed trimming to give a better Bay view & generally the garden needed attention-badly.
The whole experience. We spent most of our time outdoors in the garden.
What is there not to like?
Stunning scenery, amazing building and very friendly and helpful staff
Although the evening meal was exceptional, the buffet breakfast was close to mediocre. Not hot enough and the quality of food didn’t seem to match the surroundings and the quality of the hotel overall. We would definitely stay again, but the breakfast wasn’t great
We had a superior room with sea view - gorgeous furniture, bedding, curtains - all very high spec- a very very soft bed! Loved the view! The evening was lovely weather and we sat on the front terrace - very pleasant 😊 Staff were friendly, spa facilities were lovely, everywhere was clean and welcoming, absolutely lovely old interior and a really nice touch of a leaflet of the history of the place.
We arrived 10mins early and didn’t think it would be an issue, but sadly we weren’t able to check in yet! Lots of waiting around for anyone to come and serve you - this happened at the spa, at the reception and at breakfast so it didn’t seem like a one off. Some odd situations with a member of recently employed staff reminded us of watching episodes of faulty towers …! Food wasn’t that good in all honesty- didn’t seem to even have a basic amount of seasoning in any of the dishes, dinner tables were absolutely tiny so were crammed once you had drinks, meal, sides etc on. Tables were very sticky too - could definitely do with being changed and refreshed
The place was absolutely brilliant. The staff were really nice. The room were very tidy and clean. The food at night time was really gorgeous. Cannot complain. Price was absolutely brilliant. I would come again with my wife
Nothing I didn't like
Location was great. Staff were superb, food was delicious and our room was clean and spacious.
I would have preferred a walk in shower but there weren’t any available rooms left with a walk in shower but this is more down to personal preference than an issue.
A first class hotel with super staff who made the holiday special. Thank you!!
The location & the food was very good & the bed was comfy. The views were lovely & the interior of the Hotel was clean.
There wasn't enough staff, two members of staff were doing dual roles, which I thought was bad considering it was the Bank Holiday Weekend! Service was very slow & the lights went off. The bedroom was very small & too compact & the Shower very small. There was no tumbler to clean your teeth & I had to ask for one, which was reluctantly given! The Spa was overpriced for the facilities available & I thought it was expensive overall for just one nights stay & the Thermal experience.
Looks beautiful from the outside and the grounds are lovely. It is also in a good location. The staff were really nice and the breakfast was fab.
We were in a room which was directly underneath the bins and generators. You could not smell the bins but the generators were quite loud. The bins were also collected at 5:30am on one of the mornings and it woke us up. Our room was also quite dark as it directly faced a wall of trees and ivy. The inside is very old fashioned, but in a way that feels a little dated and much more suitable for the older generation rather than the younger. It ultimately did not feel worth the £170 a night by any stretch and I did leave feeling a little disappointed unfortunately as I was really looking forward to it.
The staff were professional, friendly and informative. The grounds and building are stunning and well kept. Sea views amazing ! The rooms were immaculate and everything we needed, even a fan on such a hot day! The breakfast was beautiful and fresh even though was a buffet. Everything you could ask for. The bar was well stocked and the restaurant food was delicious...the sticky toffee pudding was heavenly!
Slight gripes but nothing major, sofa bed was pretty uncomfortable but understandable Bit of a wait for dinner order to be taken. Not enough room on breakfast tables for all plates, tea pots, cups, juice glasses etc...plates are quite large.
The warm welcome by the staff. Very well organised to dinner and breakfast. The old building and the quirkiness of the furnishings in the lounge and library.
Nothing comes to minds
It’s character. What a fantastic old building and the view is tremendous.
The walk to our room was quite a bit for someone with mobility problems like myself.
We had a very enjoyable stay at the Netherwood Hotel & Spa. The location is excellent, with beautiful views across Morecambe Bay and easy access into the Lake District for exploring the surrounding areas. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well maintained, making it a relaxing base after days out. We particularly appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and the character of the hotel itself. Breakfast buffet was great. Overall, a great choice if you want a scenic and comfortable stay with convenient access to both Grange-over-Sands and the wider Lake District.
The only downside during our stay was the bar service. There were long queues and lengthy waits to get drinks at times, and it felt like the bar staff could have done with additional support during busier periods. Evening meal was quite average & small portions.
The hotel breakfast was very good and the evening meals also. The bed was comfy and they have a lift. There was water bottles but no glasses and no decaf tea in room.
The room was small for a double and bathroom was tiny. The only view was top of extension which was disappointing. This was room five. There seemed to be lack of staff so had to wait ages for meals and drinks.
Stunning property keeping its olde worlde charm and character set back in lovely well maintained grounds . Short walk into town centre and promenade . We had sea view room which was spacious and clean . Nice bar area to relax in . Staff very pleasant and helpful . Overall a very clean well looked after hotel and very relaxing .
Breakfast was buffet style , we don’t like this style of breakfast personally , however the food was good and well cooked . Unfortunately our room was above the inhouse gym which opened at 6.30 am , we were woken to weights being banged about and dropped harshly it really was loud in our room , we got no further sleep as this went on for over an hour .
Beautiful property with lots of history, the grounds are also beautiful and well kept. In a great location, staff were lovely, rooms are lovely.
Nothing!
The location, the property and garden, good car park, meals, ambience and welcoming atmosphere
My only concern is (and it was the same in a different room during a previous stay there) that while the main lighting in the bedroom was very good, the bedside light was so dim it was impossible to read in bed without keeping the main lights switched on then having to get out of bed and cross the room to switch off the lights and before settling to sleep. This should be an easy problem to rectify and hope there will Be an improvement before I return for another holiday there.
Lovely outside but for the price I paid the inside was like staying in my granny’s spare room
Hairs in bathroom, stain on towel, had a view of the chefs smoking area.
