Location was ok.

The staff was rude. We arrived tired at around 5 pm and there were two ladies at the reception desk. One was apparently the manager. We waited for our turn for about 15 minutes because some customers were having some trouble checking in. When it was finally our turn the lady in front of us told us she was closing despite that there were many customers waiting in line. The manager was busy and when we told her that the other lady should have not left until someone else arrived she said in a rude tone that she rather make us wait than have her employee extend her duty. This means that she prefers that we, paying customers, should suffer longer than her employee a few more minutes. She could find work in a public office where there is no competition. Finally, after several more minutes, help arrived and we were checked in in two minutes. Another thing is that we never got housekeeping to clean our room and we were given torn towels. Definitely this very expensive mediocre hotel is not worth it.

La atención del personal En la recepción llegamos cansados y había dos personas atendiendo. Cuando llegó mi turno una chica que parecía la gerente estaba enredada con varios huéspedes que no sé que problema tenían y embotellaban la recepción y la otra chica justo cuando me tocaba decide cerrar e irse a pesar de los clientes que estábamos esperando. Cuando le reclamé a la gerente que la chica debió descongestionar la recepción antes de irse me dijo que prefería incomodarnos a los clientes que pagamos que a un empleado. Supongo que esa gerente no tiene ni idea de lo que es un cliente ni quien realmente le paga su salario. Me tocó esperar otros 20 minutos a que llegase otra chica a ayudar y la gente esperando en cola.

One staff member come across rude. Another started speaking to someone who came in after 2 of us had been waiting. Only one lift working staff and guests all trying to use the same one. Empty wine bottle and glasses left outside near our door was there from when we checked in till next day. Bed not comfy at all. For the price I would expect sachets of hot chocolate or biscuits or something. Not worth the money and would never stay again.

Supposedly free parking which actually cost us $60 AUD. Wrote to GM on arriving never got an answer. Asked as we left did we enjoy our stay I raised the issue couldn’t have cared less . Hence the low score.

“Halbpension im Zimmerpreis enthalten” - Abendessen ist auf 25£ begrenzt und es gab jeden Tag das gleiche (a la Kart) aufgrund der preislichen Einschränkung nur sehr wenig Auswahl “Lunch Paket” scheint dort nicht bekannt zu sein - trotz das ich 2 Tage vorher angefragt habe und man mir es zugesichert hat - wurde es erst an dem Tag zusammen gepackt (so wirkte es zumindest) Lunchpaket bestand aus 2 Äpfeln und 3 kleinen Gebäckstücken + 1 Saft (kennen ich wesentlich besser)

The staff made our stay so special! While checking in, I knew we made the right decision picking this hotel. So much care and attention went into our stay and we are already looking at coming back!

I liked location and safety

Breakfast could have been better. The pillows and the duvet could have been newer. In the bathroom very little water was coming from the shower.

No restaurant availability the night we arrived despite many empty seats; evidently chef was not accepting any more guests. Bathroom design leaves a lot to be desired. Despite adequate space, sink is comically small, requiring one to stand sideways and press an ear against the mirror to wash your face while still splashing lots of water on the floor. Also, why no hanger for hand towels or clothing, and bath towel hooks that don’t really hold a towel?

The location was very convenient and close to most places. Since Edinburgh is easy to get around, the hotel’s location worked well for us. Check-in was also smooth and completed within a reasonable amount of time.

Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room was not up to standard. The furniture looked new, but I had to wipe down the wardrobes myself before using them. The bathroom also did not seem to have been properly cleaned, so I felt the need to disinfect the surfaces and amenities before use.

Wonderful location. Just a very short walk to the center of the city while providing modern conveniences.

I thought the property was great. The price was a little high, especially while traveling alone but it was worth the splurge.

breakfast a considerable disappointment for such a hotel. As a gluten free person was extremely disappointed with the offering. There was no gluten free section as there is in many hotels. I did order gluten free toast and was offered GF muesli however this was very poor and made up more of cornflakes that muesli. with so many good products available now of GF breads, granolas, crackers, muffins etc a hotel with such a poor limited selection is not acceptable. Orange juice was also not freshly squeezed and fruit salad was poor. overall a very disappointing breakfast experience.

Superb location, and a short walk from the Royal Mile. I stayed here with my mom, and we enjoyed relaxing and having a drink on the sofas outside terrace at the front of the hotel. The men working behind the bar were extremely friendly and helpful with local recomendations. I would 100% recommend this hotel to any of my friends that were planning a trip to Edinburgh.

The staff are superb, the rooms are comfortable, the hotel has such a chill vibe,and there's a great variety of options for breakfast Also very close to everything, particularly a gorgeous bookshop

The bathrooms in the rooms - frosted doors, gaps in the frame etc. - make things a bit awkward privacy-wise 😅

First time here was a gift from daughter we were looked after by the lovely Prenija she made sure everything was ok checking on us all the time Would recommend it the food was very good only one thing roast potatoes could have been cooked more a bit hard 😋

The location is fantastic, near Calton hill, and a 10 minute walk from the Edinburgh Waverly train station. The check-in lady was alone and we had to wait for 5 minutes to check-in. And when she was checking us in, she took 15 minutes and made others wait which I was feeling bad about. We were given a decent clean spacious room. The bed mattress was not that great though and I didn't get very good sleep. The breakfast buffet was decent with many items prepared hot and fresh. The bakery items were not that fresh though. The staff is helpful. The downside is LIFT. The lifts are very slow. We didn't get any special benefits being in the Marriott top tier so make a note of that. Atmosphere is OK. The outside bar and coffee shop is decent though the waiting service is quite slow. Noise levels were OK. The Kahani Indian restaurant opposite to this hotel is good. The bars and coffee shops near this, are quite good.

Location is fantastic and cleanliness is excellent.

The breakfast is only warm and the shower pressure is so low that its not acceptable.

The bathroom wall and door is glass panel with a gap between door and wall. This is not good at all for sharing a room with someone. You don’t feel that you have any privacy to use the loo.

Heart of city on Leith walk a great location

Excellent location in the heart of Edinburgh. Staff friendly and helpful. Lots of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. Public transport literally at the front door of the hotel. All in all a great place to stay.

Car parking is a problem at the hotel. There isnt any. Arriving by car and unloading your luggage is a major issue. There is a multi story carpark a short walk from the hotel but a bit or a problem if you have much luggage to drag with you back to the hotel.

After a complain, staff reacted well and responded.

The very first room allocated was next to the lift. This was avoided. The following room was extremely small with a very small bed, and looked more or less into a wall. Got a mail from the hotel which invited to opinions, after the first night, and we were moved to a far better room.

The sitting area that they have outside is perfect for a drink after you’ve been out sightseeing all day. The beds were so comfortable. Breakfast was really good with lots of options. Many restaurants around me. It was a little cooler than we expected, and the mall was practically across the street. Easy to pop in and get anything that you needed or forgot.

I booked a 3 night stay that cost over £900 and when we arrived got told we had no breakfast considering the price something I would have always booked but could of been a mistake on my end however after knowing I looked online to check the prices again , came up with £712 for 3 nights I then questioned this with the hotel to be told no room available but I did screen shot it as proof and then when I checked later that day all rooms had gone 🤔 I would just recommend you check as I would say it definitely was not worth £900 and the room was small and right next to the restaurant so smelt of food. Not pleasant

The hotel was lovely overall.

The bathrooms *almost* understand the concept of privacy, but the frosted glass wall and door don't do much for sound or visuals, especially blocking light. The sink is too small and awkward to wash off without getting water everywhere, and unnecessarily so as the space is quite nice.

Quiet hotel in a great location. Breakfast had many options. The hotel bar was well outfitted.

The system was down when we arrived and management was acting frenzied. We had requested early check in, which they said they couldn't accommodate due to the system outage, which is fine, but they also mentioned that they gave others early check in for vague, strange reasons when pressed. Management did not ask our name when calling later in the day to ask for an update on early check-in, but claimed we had not put in a request early enough, which we contradicted because we put it in 3 months prior when booking. Overall, management needs to learn to be calm and clear in crisis. It's obvious we weren't important enough to prioritize and was interesting they made claims about our room status and stay requests without requesting our name.

Spacious room with a big bed. Nice breakfast buffet with efficient service. Hotel is well located to exploring the city.

Coffee machine wasn't working and nothing was done about that. Some more follow up would have been helpful.

The hotel is very nice and located very close to most of the tourist sites. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk away from most places and close to plenty of restaurants and coffee shops. They also have their own restaurant which serves great food.

My room (and one other) was oddly located at the end of the hall, after a fire escape door. It created an air vacuum and so every time someone opened the fire door, the door to my room and the room across from me would shake. It felt like someone was trying to enter the room. It was quite disturbing, especially when I was trying to sleep. Also, it would be great if the hotel restaurant served dinner until a bit later in the evening.

When we entered the room, the bed was dirty. The pillows were dirty, with traces of lipstick and someone else's hair, and the sheet itself was stained. We asked for the bedding to be replaced. As it turned out, the replacement duvet and sheet had holes in them. The carpet was also completely dirty and dusty. I wouldn't call this a 4-star hotel. Also, the pillows are very uncomfortable

Besonders gefallen hat uns die Lage. Nur 5 Minuten Gehweg und man war bereits beim Bahnhof Waverley. Auch das Personal war super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Beim Check In bekam man Tipps für Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants. Auch das ausdrucken unserer Boarding Pässe ging ohne Probleme. Beim Frühstück gab es neben einem typischen englischen Frühstück auch Schinken, Käse, Müsli, helles und dunkles Brot (für englische Verhältnisse dunkel). Auch das Personal beim Frühstück ist sehr freundlich und man kann auch Gerichte von der Karte bestellen. Das Zimmer war sehr gemütlich und der Kühlschrank war für uns sehr von Vorteil. Das Bad war für englische Verhältnisse sehr geräumig und man hatte ohne Probleme zu zweit Platz. Das Zimmer war auch sehr ruhig und man konnte die anderen Zimmer oder die Straße nicht hören, das hatten wir in anderen Hotels schon ganz anders.

Das einzige was ich "negativ" bewerten würde ist die Badezimmertür, da diese sehr hellhörig ist. Ansonsten war alles wunderbar. Auch das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis könnte man kritischer sehen, allerdings merken wir selbst, dass Schottland in den letzten Jahren immer teurer wurde bzw. wird. Aber die Lage ist fantastisch für einen Städtetrip

Cancelled my wife's birthday dinner booked in their restaurant (booked 4 weeks in advance) at short notice. Bathroom fan did not appear to work & feeble shower pressure. Had to pay extra if salmon required for breakfast.

Small things didn't affect my stay. Shower pressure could have been better. Some fixtures and fittings in the room looking tired/worn.

Location was ok - down towards Leith so a few blocks u hill to Princes St and the center of the Royal Mile. Our room was in the back so it was quiet. Strangely, we had little control over our room temp - the front desk controlled the heat (or no heat). We where there in changable weather so one day needed it a bit warmer but the next day it was much too warm. They missed the opportunity for very useful hooks - no where to hang wet coats or umbrellas (but plenty of room for wall hooks as you enter the room). And the towel hooks in the bathroom were useless - if the towel stayed on it, which was rare, it didn't dry. Shower had low water flow but other bathroom facilities were ok. Beds comfortable but had only a duvet - no top sheet - so the choice was to cover with a very warm duvet or be exposed without any cover at all. Again. with some warm days and some cooler rainy days our desired varied but the bedding option was inflexible. Overall it was ok but not special.

Wir haben zunächst ein Zimmer für Personen mit einer Beeinträchtigung erhalten. Ich habe mich sehr unwohl gefühlt, da ich schlechte Erinnerungen an meine Spitalaufenthalte habe. Nach einer Nacht konnten wir das Zimmer wechseln. Das Frühstück war enttäuschend. Schmutzige Teller und das Angebot eher dürftig sowie mit Kosten verbunden.
