the room. the food. the cleanliness of the room and common areas
The layout of reception is poor. The staff have to peer over large computer screens hiding them from the public who can't see them on arrival. Not very welcoming. When asked if we wanted milk in our room???? was given a jug of milk to take up with our cases. All very strange. Breakfast not very well organised with no milk jugs on the tables, no decaf tea or coffee readily available from drinks machine. A lot of very willing, friendly and polite students but appeared to be no-one of any real experience or authority heading either the breakfast or dinner shifts. At breakfast one very friendly and willing student was covering meet & greet, table clearing, delivering food from kitchen and cleaning and setting up tables. At dinner one very young, friendly student was trying to be efficient but without guidance from an experienced maitre de the dining experience fell short of what we were expecting. Obviously you have a lot of very talented, young students who will forge a successful careers in the hospitality industry but they need to be successful because of the Yarrow experience not in spite of it.
Great choice for breakfast and delicious food bar and restaurant. Lovely staff very helpful. Loved my treatments in the spa. Great location.
Small things because i would stay again but the mattress was too soft support for my.particular back and some drawers in the room would have been useful.
Short walk into Broadstairs. Large rooms. Comfy beds. Nice staff. Parking available.
excellent breakfast, great staff, good sized room and facilities
prefer to have milk in room
The room was a good size, very clean and comfortable. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.
The hotel was just a little too far from the centre of town.
Big rooms and locations.
No dressing gown in room
Taken ill, ambulance called, taken to hospital. Staff, reception all reacted quickly and sympathetically especially manager Chris, very efficient.
Very warm welcome and fabulous staff and service. Our room and the Hotel in general, were absolutely spotlessly clean and tidy. Food in the restaurant and bar was excellent. Plenty of parking and the loop bus stop available outside of the hotel
Lovely large clean room. Excellent breakfast included. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Hotel was architecturally stunning. We read in the palatial reception area that it was originally a convalescent home for 100 children. 50 boys on one side, 50 girls on the other. The symmetrical architecture was beautiful and grand. We had the most amazing big room and huge bathroom which was wonderful. All furniture in the room was absolutely fine and functional however would have loved to see some big and bold statement pieces such as a bigger bolder bed and bigger wardrobe to match the grandeur of the room. The staff on every level were just so lovely. Extremely friendly and happy.
Breakfast was plentiful, but just one small thing which was it would be nice to have fresh coffee and juices, not the instant kind. Otherwise it was a wonderful selection of hot and cold choices that kept us going all day.
The room was spacious and very clean. The shower room was lovely, with plenty of room and towels. The breakfast was very good. The staff were cheerful and efficient.
It's a bit of a hike from the station for someone like me who insists on walking.

My wife and I love every bit of it from the staff being so polite the breakfast was lovely and the supper was lovely
Nothing
Clean, modern, good location, good facilities. Friendly, helpful staff of great young people, many of whom who have been trained through the adjacent college. Love ethos of this place, not for profit training opportunities for advancement in hotel trade. Food was outstanding and well priced.
Nothing
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. Bar meals very good. Our room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel was very clean and well maintained.
we would have liked a chest of drawers to put smaller items of clothing in. The bottles of water in the room was great but there were no glasses. We also had to request milk as we required it.
Close to town , once we parked the car we could walk everywhere
Impressed with hotel, right location for us. Couldn’t fault would stay again.
Nothing
Everything was good -clean room, tasty breakfast with excellent choice of food and very friendly and helpful staff.
Lovely Victorian building refurbished nice rooms
No fridge in the room
The room was bright and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast choice was extensive making for an excellent breakfast experience,

breakfast
Everything was great, I loved the breakfast, the staff were very polite and courteous, the hotel was quiet and relaxing.
Nothing really, I can't really fault it. Its one of the best hotels I have stayed at.
Staff great, very friendly, calm and helpful.
Noise from toilet cistern, although this was attended to cover promptly by manager and partial solution provided.
The professionalism of the staff was perfect! The rooms are amazing lots of space and just a fantastic luxury building.
Nothing negative to say it was better than we thought it would be.
Lovely fruendly staff
All good
I love the fact it is a beautiful hotel. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Facilities are excellent. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was first class

We were actually there for TWO nights (2/9 & 3/9) Good car parking facilities Pleasant grounds good size deluxe room & bathroom Evening restaurant food was excellent & fairly priced Restaurant and bar staff excellent, very helpful & friendly, restaurant very comfortable, housekeeping very friendly & helpful Tea/coffee facilities in room (albeit milk had to be requested and brought to room by us) Good cooked breakfast plus specials Comfortable lounge Air conditioning in bedroom Night porter Keith was very nice & helpful (he came up to our room to inspect bathroom issues, tried to resolve but needed a tech)
Original receptionist 'efficient' but didn't come across as particularly personable. Re below, it was suggested an alternative room might be available (hotel fully booked though?) but impractical as we had to attend funeral next morning and couldn't meet her deadline of vacating room by 11am. She said we could speak to manager but we wouldn't be told anything different. Disappointing as for a 4 star hotel we would have expected some gesture to be made eg discount for eve meal, good will partial refund. But because we were only there 2 nights and it was a very sad occasion we really didn't feel comfortable in pursuing. Decor tired, bedroom furniture adequate albeit somewhat basic, dirty net curtains in bedroom, worn cracked paint on old style sash windows, 'old world' bathroom in need of upgrade, shower curtain instead of screen was very 'low rent'. Access into/out of bath awkward as high sided, lack of a wall mounted safety handle was of concern from a safety perspective (bath handles were too low to assist). First night the shower water was luke warm (temperature tap was frozen due to limescale), toilet did not flush properly - buttons did not work independently & both had to be pushed and held, shower pressure weak (shower head appeared to suffer from lime scale). Following tech visit next day water temp improved satisfactorily but no noticeable change to shower flow or toilet flush. Air conditioning somewhat noisy. Lift only went up to 1st floor which may be problematic for some less mobile visitors if put on 2nd floor.
Friendly and helpful staff and very tasty food. Lovely room. Fresh milk delivered to the room for my early morning tea was a bonus.
The room was clean and the bed was large
The breakfast choice was limited for example no Hamel or cheese yoghurt was just plain and in glasses. Limited cakes, bread types..
Beautiful building in a quiet location, within easy 10 minute walk to the beach and town. Large bedroom, bathroom, lounge, lots of space, well decorated and maintained and extremely clean.
Breakfast service extremely slow with just 1 lady serving. (1st day) Self service was confusing as no signs on/around/over hot plate lids so everyone constantly lifting each lid, replacing, lifting again. Rarely found staff in the lounge bar to ask for water refills or milk. No glasses in room to drink from, no milk sachets for hot drinks. No door between our bedroom and & our lounge so having 2 TV's not practical. Room huge and comfy but became oppressive as everything was colourless - with just 2 pictures both black and white. Needed colour to bring joy.
Very relaxed. Lovely staff.
Staff were very good. Room was nice .
Did not like bath with a shower inside. Much prefer standalone shower.
Great Location - lovely very well kept historic building - plenty of parking - friendly staff - relaxed atmosphere - clean throughout
Beautiful room Love the hotel
Perfect stay Offers a breakfast from the kitchen if you didn’t want the buffet Good selection Very pleasant young man behind the bar Only a tiny complaint as much as I don’t like to because I love The Yarrow Can’t understand why you offer tea/coffee facilities in the room when you have to then go downstairs to the kitchen to ask for milk-what has happened to the long life milk in the little cartons-ridiculous arrangement for guests
Great location. Lovely environment. Calm and relaxing. Very good breakfast. Staff very professional and accommodating.
Minor issue with toilet not flushing. Reported to staff member. Needs attention.
Pleasant surroundings
More options on menu at restaurant especially for vegetarians .They asked for dietary needs and then didn’t offer do anything about it .Why bother?
Beautiful hotel, very clean inside room and the around hotel. Lovely bar area with lots of choice. Room big and spacious with very comfortable bed and stunning bathroom. Breakfast is buffet style though loads of choice hot & cold. Tea/ coffe & juice all in the plenty. Staff very polite, alwsys checking everything's ok and if needed anything. Very much worth the price (brilliant value!!) and only 10min walk from main beach front/ bars/ restaurants. we will definitely be returning.
Great location, plenty of parking and nearby shops to bus stops and beach.

Nice tall ceiling in the bedroom made the room feel nice and airy. AC. Really nice breakfast. Quiet but easy to walk to the centre and beach.
Rooms are very spacious, bed was comfortable, choice of bath or shower. Great choice at breakfast. Overall a nice hotel to stay.
Nothing to report.
Great Location, mostly friendly staff especially night porter and reception staff, and an impressive building.
Toilet flush very noisy and bathroom doors more like a cupboard. One rude waitress at breakfast time and a 30 minutes wait for fried eggs. When asked why there were taking so long, I was spoken to abruptly and told…”Well there is only one member of staff in the kitchen you know” and she didn’t apologise for the wait. This was disappointing when paying a premium for the room.
We had a lovely stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was really comfortable and the grounds are lovely. Great breakfast too. Location is very handy for the beach and the town.
Nicely set out, feeling of grandeur
Nothing
The location was good and the too. Was large. The staff were very nice and friendly.
The bedroom, although large was not well appointed. There were no drawers in the entire room (you could have fitted in 2 chest of drawers if you’d wanted!). No glasses or cup in the bathroom to rinse your mouth when cleaning your teeth. Although I did ask in the morning and were given some. Plus we had all the cleaning staff constantly gathered outside our room as the cleaning supplies cupboard was next door!
Large rooms with aircon and extra large comfortable bed
Staff were very mixed. Some were friendly and helpful, others were rude almost to the point of comedy. It’s a hotel next to a training college and is used to train staff - which can feel like you’re at a work experience experiment in the communal areas.
Well situated and nice and quiet
In an accessible room so bathroom stark.
Staff are lovely in particular the two young men who worked behind the bar and on reception It’s clean The bar and lounge area is nice
It is a shame the spa is not part of the price - well certain bits of it
Location, staff and free parking.
Nothing.
Spacious rooms, enormous bed, good breakfast. Flexible with check-out times - very useful after a quick swim at the beach!
Bus ride into margat Staff so friendly and helpful Lovely hotel

Room was beautiful. Lovely and light. Breakfast buffet and seating was great.
We requested a cot in advance. Wasn't there when we arrived. Had to instruct staff. We could see the breakfast staff were a little out of their depth. Kept getting orders wrong for the table next to ours. Also didn't make egg options clear to us so my wife missed out on the fried eggs she wanted.
Beautiful building handy location spacious room very comfortable stay
Nothing -all was good
Lovely room great location fantastic breakfast we loved it

The hotel was clean and inviting. It was in a great position to be able to walk into Broadstairs. The staff were friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was included and was superb. Would definitely recommend staying there if you are wanting to visit the area.

We booked the master suite, was lovely and big. The staff were all really lovely. The building is well maintained and very clean and tidy. Air conditioning in the room was very welcome as the top floor was hot!
Breakfast finished at 9.30 which I’ve never ever experienced in a hotel! This was far too early in my opinion, 10am should be the minimum. The beds had very flat pillows and only one pillow per person on the bed which is quite strange. We found extras but they were also flat and not very comfy. The hotel did provide us some lovely fluffy feather ones on request which was great but I feel they should have just been there to start with. The bed was also overly soft. The receptionist gave us fresh milk for tea and coffee on arrival which was lovely but a little odd that we had to then carry a full jug up 2 flights of stairs with luggage, but anyway was fine. However, when we got to our room (master suite and best room in the hotel) there was no fridge to store it so by the morning that milk was no good. Not a big issue but just another slightly strange thing that I’ve never had at any other hotel!
Clean and spacious
Expensive
Everything about this hotel is top class.
There us nothing to dislike
Excellent hotel, staff are Wonderfull, and very helpful, the food was delicious. Thanks for a great stay
We love everything about the hotel, we had our wedding reception there 3 years ago in September and the staff are always really helpful
Room was lovely but the air con wasn’t working properly, everytime we put it on it sounded like an alarm going off so we had to turn it off. There was also a lot of banging going on through the night. The breakfast was also very disappointing
Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Everyone helpful. Food good and promptly served. Good breakfast, plenty of choice. My Granddaughter and I had a twin room, which was clean and met our needs. Hotel is a walking distance from the beach. Plenty of parking space available at hotel. Air conditioning was much appreciated in the weather conditions.
Evening set menu was good, would have preferred a varied menu each evening.
Er clean and airy
Clinical lines
The hotel was in a great location, 10mins walk down hill to the main town. It was very clean and breakfast was nice with a good choice of hot food and continental options. The staff were friendly. The car park was a bonus. Broadstairs was lovely with a good range of bars and restaurants.
The deluxe double room we booked was spacious, however the bathroom was not well appointed with a bath only and fixed shower which could be problematic for some.
Spacious clean room
Lovely clean room. Friendly helpful staff. Beautiful hotel with easy free parking and a great breakfast.
Yarrow Hotel is amazing! This was our first visit and we already can't wait to go back. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the facilities are top notch and breakfast was delicious. To top it off, the beach is about a 10 minute walk. Lovely hotel, highly recommend.
Everything was perfect.
Lovely property and great location Large very comfortable room with air conditioning which was fab!
Nothing
Room clean, good housekeeping Good breakfast
No sea view not their fault
Very clean & very friendly staff
Lovely hotel, very clean and comfortable
I appreciate there’s no air conditioning, maybe something to consider, but with 3 of us in the room on a hot night, it was bad that we could only open one window and not even wide open! Also, the fresh milk given the evening before had gone off!!
Breakfast. Size room
Option to lock bathroom door
Lovely hotel in a great location. Had everything we needed and staff were very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Great breakfast in the morning, too.
Our room got very warm and the air con was noisy (although worked very well) so was a bit tricky to get a good balance overnight.
We had a fantastic stay at The Yarrow Hotel in Broadstairs! we stayed the night after celebrating my in-laws 60th wedding anniversary. Our room was wonderfully spacious, peaceful, and spotlessly clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, we had a great night’s sleep. The bathroom was absolutely amazing! It featured both a luxurious roll-top bath and a separate shower, which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was delicious, plentiful, and served in very pleasant surroundings—the perfect way to start the day. The hotel is in an ideal spot, just a short, pleasant walk away from the main Broadstairs seafront. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. One of the waitresses at breakfast arranged for me to have a full English straight from the kitchen as she could see I had mobility problems, which was so thoughtful. The whole staff team was very attentive in general.
Having the shower over the bath was tricky and a walk in shower would have been easier.
The hotel is set in a lovely building and nicely decorated throughout. Good customer service from all the staff. Was very clean throughout
Unfortunately I slept very badly. There was a high window in my room with no curtains drawn so was way too bright in the room in the morning. The pillows were flat and uncomfortable. Lots of small things missing that I would expect to see in a 4 star hotel. There was only a rubbish 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner, no separate hair conditioner. No moisturiser. Bath/ shower gel attached to wall so unable to use for a bath. No freshly made coffee on offer at breakfast, they only had a machine. Extra charge for use of spa, I’ve never seen this before for guests actually staying in the hotel.
Comfortable, stylish, friendly. Great breakfast, good bar in the evenings. Short stroll into town. Super quiet.
Nothing, very happy with everything
Schone comfortabele en ruime kamer. Goeie ligging hotel.
Bijbetalen voor welness. Parkeren stond niet goed aangegeven. Tip: zet bord neer met "Hotel guests overflow parking available behind the hotel".
The hotel is set in a lovely building and hotel is decorated nicely throughout. Received great customer service throughout my stay. Unfortunately I slept very badly here. There was a high window in my room where you couldn’t reach to draw the curtains and it was way too bright in the room in the morning. The bed was nice but the pillows were flat as pancakes, not good quality at all. For a four star hotel and the amount they charge it was certainly missing small things I would expect to see. No conditioner for the hair, only a dreadful 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. No moisturiser. The bath/ shower gel is attached to the wall so unable to use it for a bath. Curtains were a bit shabby in the room. Only coffee from a machine is available at breakfast rather than making something fresh. Also an extra charge to use the spa which I have never seen for guests actually staying in the hotel. Overall it was ok but was definitely overpriced for what was on offer in my opinion.
We spent a couple of nights at the Yarrow for the school holidays. We loved how clean and spacious our room was and the breakfast especially stood out, we couldn't get enough of it. The checkin process was quick and straightforward, the bar had nibbles and drinks available whenever we needed it and the staff were wholesome and welcoming, we will definitely be back. The location is close enough to the beach and town amenities that we could just walk there but also far enough that its quiet and peaceful. As a bonus the bus stop for the loop bus is just outside, making it easy to travel around the area. It was a wonderful way to start the holidays and have quality family time.
Location good, bedroom quite spacious, breakfast good, staff lovley
We had the start of our holiday in this beautiful luxurious hotel. Spacious, spotless, quiet and with a nice big bath. Our son slept on a duvet bed in the seating area of the big room. The bar downstairs was really relaxing at night and had great desserts. It is located only a ten minute walk from a cute and not too busy beach with lovely restaurants. Cannot recommend more.
Good size high ceiling room. Bright but with electric blinds for black outcat night.. Comfy beds. Very good choice of “service” breakfast and buffet. Good range of machine hot drinks. Very friendly and efficient staff.
We had a room with a connecting door so it was More noisy than we would have liked.
Lovely breakfast and comfortable bed. Suites are very good value for money.
Paint could do with a bit of a refresh in some places.
Great hotel - clean and modern facilities, friendly staff. Quality food and drink. Free parking that is easy and convenient - normally such an issue in Broadstairs.
I spent a night at The Yarrow Hotel with my husband and our son. The hotel is in a great location, with a pleasant walk down to the seafront, and having access to various newsagents and convenience shops nearby. Parking is plentiful. The staff were all lovely and very accommodating. The room itself was spacious, clean and tidy. The beds (we were in the junior suite with double bed and sofa bed) were very comfortable and we all had a great nights sleep. The breakfast was spot-on! Enough choice to keep us all happy, as well as being able to order some items to be freshly cooked. We will return,.
Character and friendly staff
Air con fan was loud even on the lowest setting. Toilet seat was loose.
Booked a two-night weekend stay at the Yarrow Hotel in Broadstairs while attending the Human League concert in nearby Margate. Stayed in the junior suite (room 102) and was simply blown way by this beautiful and historical hotel. My suite room was modern, beautifully furnished and had everything you could possibly need. Breakfast in the restaurant was really good and there was even a menu for ordering extras to compliment the buffet breakfast. The catering for breakfast was of a high standard. The staff were so friendly at Reception and in the restaurant. The location of the hotel was absolutely perfect being a short 10 mins walk from the beach and Broadstairs high street. You can also catch the loop bus 8X to Margate or Broadstairs Railway station from right outside the hotel. I have nothing but praise for this wonderful hotel which is exemplary in the high standards it sets for hotel accommodation and the satisfaction of guests. Everything was perfect and you won’t want to leave this hotel. Will be delighted to return for a future stay at the Yarrow Hotel.
Great location good parking
Huge sized rooms and great breakfast. So much history in an iconic building - fascinating.
No individual shower
The location was good
Hotel is on a hill
Near to beach
The bed was 4.6ft on 5ft mattress. I fell out of bed. The room was very small. So much so I had to pay for a room change. Don’t go to 120 room so poor. The breakfast is poor for a training hotel.
Lovely clean place, great breakfast
Nothing
Very good breakfast would have liked to be closer to the beach
Being closer to the beach
Beautiful building, set in a reasonably convenient location, about 10-15 minutes walk from the town. Restaurant food very high quality. Free parking and Wi-fi. Spacious room.
Very small and slow lift only serving first floor (we were on second). I have just had a hip replacement, so not ideal. Large bathroom only had a “slipper” bath and no shower (again not ideal with hip recovery). I do not believe these issues were clearly pointed out at the time of booking. Bathroom sink took 20 minutes to fill. I was also surprised to be told by the duty manager on Friday night that they wouldn’t be serving any more drinks at 22:12? Website suggests bar close was at 22:30, which is a bit early really anyhow, particularly for residents. This was done in quite an officious manner and was presumably due to the bar staff wanting to leave on time?? After they had left the night porter (who was great) came to me and said he would provide us with anything we needed, at this point we had already made our minds up that we were going to retire. Bit poor really?
Great Hotel! Amazing, friendly staff . Loved our room . Great location 👌
