Really enjoyed being able to book and have the leisure facilities to ourselves!

No restaurant, cafe or bar

Clean, accessible, and very comfortable. We were a large party with two accommodations and we all had a comfortable nights sleep.

Location perfect for driving to the Moors. Gardens were lovely and friend liked the Sauna.

Think it should be made ultra clear which apartments are definitely NOT suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Multiple stairs to and inside the Cleveland Suite made for a very painful experience. Pleasant apartment with up to date bathroom though kitchen rather tired.

Quiet, peaceful, spacious. Beautiful grounds and nice facilities. Loved that we could book a private slot for the swimming pool with my family. Some gorgeous pubs nearby, we also took my 1 year old to Monk farm which was less than a 5 minute drive away and it was fab! We will be returning :)

Bed was comfortable

Instructions to enter properly were poor- stated brown door- door was red- very confusing. Saw no staff during our stay- not even in office

The cottage was neat and ideal. Lovely short drive into Thirsk and a short drive from ampleforth. Good facilities, private use guests.

It had the feel of a cottage

Swimming pool was cold and the steps into the pool felt as if they were coming away from the poolside. Not having anyone available in the building after 4 30. Felt a bit erie.

The Ryedale cottage was very clean and comfortable, two good sized bedrooms and comfortable lounge/dinning area (table possibly a little too large for the room). The gardens were very pleasant for a short walk around. The Hall itself looked stunning under the sunshine. Please see comments under dislikes... once we understood how Sutton Hall functions we settled into a nice overnight stay and would visit again, perhaps being a little more organised ourselves. A great location to stay to explore the market towns of Thirsk, Helmsley, Pickering and the moors around the area.

I'm not sure what we expected, possibly more of an active hotel spa feeling. We understood the cottage was self catering but thought there might be a bar to meet people and more staff around. We arrived earlier than anticipated, effectively on change over between guests, and the Hall seemed quiet and initially we didn't notice the reception area to the side of the building. We were handed our keys with no real explanation given to us about how to book/use the facilities but this possibly down to the fact the staff thought our other party members, who were already checked, would explain. Whilst I appreciate the desire to keep running costs to a minimum just the odd light on in the communal areas of the hall would improve the aesthetics on arrival rather than a building that initially looked closed and empty, despite being beautiful, until other guests arrived turning lights on in the evening.

The property was great, it was easy to check in and the directions to use the facilities were easy to follow, with an easy booking system. The 2 bed cottage was clean and well-equipped, which suited our family of 2 adults and 2 kids perfectly. The grounds were beautiful, and the pool and hot tub exceeded expectations. It was priceless being able to book a private slot for the facilities! The receptionist was really friendly and couldn't have been more helpful, she made us feel really welcomed and like nothing was a problem (even our kids trying to use the pool table!)

The only slight issue we had was a bit of a smell coming from the drain in the wet room, and the bedroom facing the street had a really bright streetlamp that shined through the blinds and curtains, so maybe a blackout one would have been better. Some of the rules are a bit dated and need to be updated (they give the property a bit of an old school timeshare feel).

We asked for the king bed setup (instead of twin) and the beds were quite lumpy in the middle

Great comfy bed , good shower and quiet in the evening. Staff did get back to me when i was concerned about late joining instructions as there was no staff on at arrival or leaving.

We booked the hot tub but when we went to use it the people before us had left absolutely unbelievable, there was scrum all over the water.

Room was beautiful. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The gardens are amazing. Would really love another stay at Sutton Hall.

De uitstraling van het pand en de locatie en de vriendelijkheid van de tuinman. Ook kamers zijn ruim en mooi ingericht en ontbreekt aan niets.

Ontvangst was niet bepaald vriendelijk. Voelde ons niet welkom. Bij vertrek zat er een andere dames die gelukkig uiterst vriendelijk was. Daarnaast is het zwembad klein 6m x 2.7m. Tot slot tref je overal regels aan wat verboden is. Zelfs bij aankomst moet je daarvoor ondertekenen. Draagt niet bij aan het gevoel dat de welkom bent.

Das Anwesen sowie der Garten sind groß, wunderschön und sehr gepflegt. Unsere Suite war geräumig und gemütlich und wir haben auf Anhieb alle relevanten Informationen in einer Welcome Mappe gefunden (u. a. welche Lieferdienste es gibt).

Das Bad könnte modernisiert werden.

Great place. Parking good, two floor apartment, private bookable swimming pool for up to one hour.

We loved everything about the property including the amazing grounds and gardens. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We used the hot tub which was great. We will definitely come back.

Beautiful surrounding countryside. Apartment was clean and spacious with good amenities. Swimming pool and hot tub fab. Can recommend this property for a wonderful stay in close proximity to Thirsk.

We've stayed at Sutton Hall a few times now - it's the perfect mid-way stop for our family when travelling between Scotland and Norfolk. The grounds are really beautiful - with the woodlands, stream and gardens to enjoy (air always filled with birdsong), and we love making use of the tennis courts, pool and hot tub. The booking system for the facilities is great, and nice to get private use of the pool/ gym etc. The price always seems reasonable. The apartments in the main house/ and the external cottages are compact but very comfortable and clean, and it's nice to have a separate living/ sleeping area when away with children. TV/ WiFi all good. Staff always friendly and helpful in advance of and during our stays. We know we'll be back!

Some decor a little tired/ dated, but you can forgive it for the price/ excellent facilities/ superb location.

Not easily accessible for guests with mobility issues. That said, I notified in advance that I was current mobility impaired and a wheelchair was available in my room as requested (thank you)

The setting was perfect, grounds were beautiful and the apartment had everything we needed for our stay including a balcony that overlooked the gardens. The pool and hot tub were an added bonus. We didn’t use the sauna

The location and grounds are beautiful. Access is easy and the apartment perfect. The pool, spa and sauna were all a lovely temperature and clean. We were delighted with it. It was well maintained and a fab night away for a small group of family members. The apartment was equipped with an oven, microwave, air fryer, toiletries and towels.

Nothing. Would advise taking a towel robe and suitable footwear to walk between apartment and pool. Also, we were prepared but there aren’t shops etc in the door step. We did order food though, it was lovely.

I thought it was a hotel , but it was all self catering . No onsite bar, restaurant The need to book slots for hot tub and swimming pool. Their were no slots on arrival and one slot for 8:30am the next day The hot tub had lack of water that didn’t cover the jets so we got absolutely drenched har , face trying them . So we had a 30min slot sat in a hot tub with no bubbles £140 the night with no extras

The hot water system seemed inadequate. The swimming pool was too cold to go in.

Downstairs extractor fan went on way too long and was noisy in the bedroom above keeping me awake. The bedside lightbulb in the bedroom didn’t work. Left so early in the morning that we didn’t want to wake anyone but weren’t sure which keys you wanted to put in the box outside the reception on leaving. Form seem a bit excessive, didn’t want to sign up for marketing form and Covid protocol seems unnecessary now, surely people would not come if they had covid. I would have liked to have known what fascilities would have been available when booking so I could have brought swimming things and make the most of our stay

What a fantastic find - we have stayed locally for many years whilst competing at Yorkshire based rallies but never at Sutton Hall, excellent location and perfect for our needs as a team. Staff were lovely and very informative before our stay.

My only negative would be that the accommodation was quite cold, however I completely appreciate the difficulties in trying to keep a beautiful old building like this to a pleasant temperature. We turned all the heaters up to 30° and had the fire on the whole duration of our stay and it did take the chill out of the air.

Easy access from car park. Accomodation was clean and warm. TV was available with streaming services, e.g. Netflix. Bathrom space was airy and clean.

No reception after 5pm on the day we arived. A video showing the way to the accomodation required accessing a video that required age verifcation, no idea why, or selfie, that meant providing a credit card details. Possibly due to poor signal this didn't work. We managed to phone a number o get the details.

Love that we get private time for pool, hottub and sauna room. Appartments are lovely and big with everything you need. The building is lovely. Gardens are amazing as well

Well equipped with everything we needed, complimentary bottle of prosecco in the fridge was a nice touch. Although we never used the facilities they looked in good order. The grounds are beautiful. The 2 bedrooms were lovely.

The bed settee was uncomfortable, it was also a bit tricky to find our room, so maybe a few more signs or even a little map would be handy, also when we moved the chair in the sitting room we found some cereal and grapes they were also in the downstairs bedroom

The property and the views were beautiful, it was well equipped and clean. Towels and bedding were soft and clean too.

The bed was very wobbly when either of us turned over. We couldn’t get Wi-Fi. The tv signal kept dropping out. The water pressure in the bathroom was poor, I could hardly get any hot water out of the basin tap. The swimming pool was cold.

Gor relentlessly spam called and messaged via WhatsApp after this stay so not happy with how data is stored

Great little resort, cottage was well equipped and clean. Facilities were great, it was fun trekking over to the hot tub in our dressing gowns. Cute little pool. I liked the fact you booked the pool and hot tub and had this as a private space. The grounds are beautiful to walk around.

Fabulous facilities and decor, whole place oozed character and charm. Grounds were amazing, lots of outdoor space which gave a very countrified feel regarding our stay. Already planning our next visit.

Only criticism was the very brief induction we had which meant we had to work out a few things for ourselves, but to be honest this was not a big deal.

Check out is quite early and not all facilities can be used on a Monday.

hot tub and pool were great. The rooms were clean and spacious. It was lovely

the water was cold. we didn’t have hot water to wash or wash the pots. Shower was electric so we managed. there were also lots of flies in the main bedroom - approx 25 when we got back on Thursday night - no idea where they came from in December!

The lady we finally got through to was very helpful. She gave clear instructions on how to get in and access the property. Directed us to the apartment and gave us lock box instructions to access our keys.

We arrived a little later than expected, after a very long journey in the rain. There was no staff on the grounds and there was no answer on the calls we made to the phone number provided. We had to search around in the rain to find another mobile number to call. We finally got a response after calling a few times. By which time we were quite wet and frustrated.

Very comfortable bed and apartment very clean. Very quiet and nice pool apart from issues mentioned in section below. Very helpful reception staff.

The electric shower in the bathroom was a serious problem. My 8 year old granddaughter was in danger of being scalded because the heating on the High setting was so hot. The flow on the medium setting was very slow. I think that this shower should be repaired or replaced immediately. It is very dangerous. Rails into the swimming pool were shaky and both showers were closed for maintenance. Wifi dodgy.

Property was very cold on arrival and had to leave heating in all night along with fire on while we were in. Could not find any plates or bowels until morning or departure as they were in dressing table in lounge and presumed they would be in kitchen.

Cottage (Swaledale) was very neat and well-appointed with handy touches like an air fryer in kitchen, a coffee pod machine, complimentary shampoo and shower gel, and spare towels. The beds were quite comfortable and it was very sympathetically decorated, but with modern touches included. We'd definitely stay again, it was so lovely. The use of facilities was fantastic, loved having the pool to ourselves through the booking system. Beautiful setting and grounds.

The outdoor hot tub could use an enclosed changing space to avoid dressing outdoors on the pavement, and perhaps a raised wooden mat so you aren't directly on the wet concrete as soon as you get out. The metal steps into the pool were wobbly and moved so for safety definitely keep those checked.

We stayed in one of the cottages, which was lovely, cozy and comfortable with a lovely view over the garden. The grounds are beautiful to walk around and we loved being able to book the pool, sauna and hot tub for our private use.

It was a real shame that on two of the three nights we were there the hot tub wasn't working. The hot tub was the main reason we booked Sutton Hall.

The online description of the pull out sofa bed/s in the lounge was inaccurate and a lot of the facilities and decor is very dated.

Location was brilliant only 3 miles from the event we had been to and really close to the supermarkets and town.

The outdoor hot tub wasn’t very hot. Cleaning wasn’t great, found beer bottle top under coffee table and crumbs on it. Kitchen cooker top/ toaster etc wasn’t very clean. Also only left towels in twin room and kitchen, there was 5 people staying.

Great appartement in a great location, great facilities and good value for money.

The secure grounds felt very safe. The gardens were amazing and the gardener was passionate about his work and told us all about the different flowers. We picked apples from the tree. The sauna & swimming pool were very private. Outstanding place to stay. We will definitely stay there again.

Everything was perfect, but be prepared to take food as there is no local shops.

Size of the apartment, heating provided in all areas including bathroom, comfortable beds, quiet, easy to park. Good detailed information pack in the apartment.

Located a bit in the middle of nowhere. As no catering provided at Sutton Hall definitely need to drive to get eg dinner and breakfast so a car is a must. Just the one bathroom which is fine but was located on top floor next to a bedroom, not great for eg older people.

Loved walking around the garden. Loved the opportunity to book the amenities.

Clean and tidy accommodation, beds comfy. Grounds were lovely, but again, due to early checkout, there was no time to explore more. Complimentary tea and coffee were greatly appreciated.

Didn't get time to use any of the main facilities, as at a wedding during the day and just used the accommodation for sleeping and the very early checkout at 10am hindered us using any of these the next day.

What a gem in the beautiful setting of the gardens is this fantastic house with great facilities x
