Restaurant and Bar staff excellent. Friendly and efficient. Food very good and sensibly priced. Location good for visiting Northallerton Thirsk,Richmond and Ripon.
Maintenance and Housekeeping standards in the bedroom let this property down. Bathroom fittings (ie toilet roll holder and ring towel holder loose and needed replacing) Main light flickered on and off regularly and was irritating. Mould and mildew present around wash hand basin and parts of the bath. I recommend using Dettol Mould and Mildew remover . One spray from this product and the blackness disappears. One bedside lamp had no bulb in it upon arrival but this was quickly rectified once I bought it to the attention of the staff. Bed was too soft for our liking. We would have preferred a firmer mattress to provide more support.
Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast and evening meals were good. Location was good
Room is basic. Ok for one night but no windows only a small skylight.
Located in a quiet village lead to a peaceful nights sleep. Check in was super easy and all 7 rooms we booked were together. Lots of parking right outside your room. The bar area is quite big ,the prices for drinks and food was reasonable and the staff friendly and efficient .
Nothing ,it was all fine .
My stay here was pleasant. Staff are friendly and breakfast was good. Room clean and well equipped. Lots of hot water and the location is quiet. Rooms are chalets at the end of the car park, rather than in the pub building itself.
Breakfast aside, I don’t recommend the restaurant. The evening meal was of poor quality.
Ligging
Weinig daglicht
Convenient location and totally satisfied
Nice clean room with a comfy bed. Excellent breakfast.
Spokój i cisza , dobry obiad i dość niedrogo , czystość
Bardzo słabe WiFi
Breakfast could do with having fruit & yogurt offered as an option Evening meals were good staff were very friendly Cheap taxi ride into town if needed
Breakfast choices & cheap bread, lack of pastries too
Peaceful location but close to main north/south routes. Safe motorcycle parking.
Great welcome and booking in so easy. The staff were great and very helpful. The room was clean and well equipped. The food service was swift and seemed well organised. The food itself was so good, when you go large with the fish its large !! Breakfast stood out as excellent compared to other places we have stayed recently, real quality ingredients.
Beds a it too soft for our liking and maybe something on the wall in the shower to put its but nothing more than that really.
Loved the size of family room. Food was beautiful
Only thing I didn't like was no lock on bathroom so door was a little tricky to close fully apart from that nothing else
Excellent adapted bathroom. Large spacious room. Clean bedding

A great little find just outside of Northallerton. The rooms are set like a motel at the rear by the car park, which meant easy access to your car and no pulling suitcases or bags through the pub.
As the rooms are set in the car park it can get quite noisy late at night.
The breakfast was tasty, the staff where helpful and friendly. We where going to a wedding which meant check in time would have been awkward, however, they had the romready for us when we arrived so we could get ready there with no stress. Very much appreciated x
Only one pack of biscuits to share between three people, and one bedside lamp didn't work, but these where minor things that didn't effect our stay.
Food was very good
Noisy, there was noise at 1.30-2.00 in the morning with people talking loudly in the car park. Wasn’t sure I could get a table for dinner and I would naturally expect this as a resident in the hotel.
accomadation was good but bed could have been firmer ,breakfast good staff friendly and helpfull
Location was why we chose the place, so happy with that. The room was ready early and was clean
The breakfast could have been better in my opinion, everything was overcooked, hard eggs, bacon sausage and black pudding, the filter coffee was cold.
Lovely village location and a nice welcome from the host, room was pleasant and clean.
Noisy air conditioning unit below the room which ran on and off throughout the night, and noisy banging doors from other residents
The checking in process was good. The room was clean and a twin room had been allocated as requested. It was a good size with coffee/tea facilities provided. The bathroom was a reasonable size with toiletries provided. There was a good variety of items provided at breakfast and the Full English was cooked to order. We also booked in for dinner which was excellent. Plenty of parking. The staff were friendly and efficient.
We personally found the beds too soft for our comfort. Also the TV was quite compact. Unfortunately we also could hear the plumbing from the next door room on occasion.
Breakfast very good...location ok.
Fluffy the decor of the rooms a little, eh: perhaps a little vase of flowers on windowsill, a nice picture on the walls, and a larger TV as it was difficult to see, perhaps a nice cushion on the chairs, but all on all it was nice.
The village is very nice.. When we did get the evening meal it was very good to be fair. Breakfast was quite good and nice coffee also.. .
Reception when we turned up wasn't fantastic and after traveling over two hrs in the car they weren't very helpful in providing a meal. The bedroom mattress had seen better days as the spring we're nearly coming through. Also when you room next door turned their taps on you could hear the noise in your room all night.
Great staff and service. The room was comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast which was good.
Comfy beds in the family room . Nice and spacious and en-suite Breakfast was great and staff lovely
Very nice pub and great breakfast, rooms were comfy second night was lovely and quiet.
First night a wedding was on and we were right next to the event. Was told it would finish at 11 pm but it went on until 12 then we had noise and shouting from the drunk next door until 1.30 am
We liked the room which was motel style with own entrance. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. We ate in the restaurant both nights and were more than satisfied with the choice and quality of the food. The restaurant manager delivered a great ambiance with exceptional attention to detail.
Nothing
No windowin room other than a skylight. Felt carpet could with a clean
I was here for 2 nights for a wedding I need a gluten free veggie diet The food was well catered for and very tasty The staff were very pleasant and helpful The rooms were very comfortable
Comfy bed
A little dad red
Great location great price room was just big enough for what we needed. There was a party going on one night and we were worried we would be kept awake but once we shut the door we heard nothing!
Bathroom was a little small but we’re big people but that’s the only thing I could think of.
The staff were excellent, very happy to assist us with freezing ice packs for medication. They had communicated together so we didn’t even have to ask for the ice packs, they were informed and has the ice packs ready without us even having to ask. In a lovely spot , co for table room, fab shower and onsite parking. Breakfast was so good.
Nothing
Everything was perfect breakfast dinner and room more than 10 out of 10
Nothing it has the whole package we have been 3 times so doing something right
Breakfast was really good.
Bed mattress was very thin . Didn't sleep well . Not many biscuits with tea making facilities.
The restaurant interior was beautifully decorated and had a lovely stone fireplace,
We were not staying in the main pub but in one of several small chalets in the carpark which could do with updating
Breakfast was excellent. The staff were fantastic.
Very good english breakfast
Good value for money, peaceful location
Doing the Coast to Coast so it is an extra walk but was worth it. They have a series of spacious chalets separate to the Inn at the side of the car park. All clean and cosy. Bed was nice and comfortable and facilities in the chalet were good. Food in the Inn was nice and inexpensive with large portions.
Nothing really. all good.
Breakfast excellent. Accommodation poor.
beautiful location and room was clean and comfortable.
pub/bar was closed when we got back from our night out at 10.30 - had hoped for a night cap.
Emplacement calme.
Having booked with Booking.com allocated the only room they allow which was below their normal standard.
Allocated room.
Really friendly staff. Soya milk available at breakfast!
A little bit too early checkout - would be better at 11 instead of 10, not a massive problem but we were at a wedding that didn’t finish until late.
Proximity to Northallerton, good facilities, great food.
Clean and Tidy rooms
We had to leave before breakfast was served at 8am, but appreciate that not many people may want breakfast before 8am
Sehr schönes, ruhiges Hotel mit sehr guter Küche und feinem Frühstück. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam ❤️
Food was good
Room was OK, rather basic and across the car park from the Inn
Service was very good. Breakfast and dinner excellent. Ideal location and a very peaceful setting.
We were a large group, some of the beds were fine but others were rather uncomfortable and could do with being renewed.
Cooked breakfast was excellent, plenty of it. Bedroom was chalet type. Bar food was good and good value.
The bed was a bit soft. The tv small and the room would have benefited from a chair ( it just had a stool).
Stayed at the village in for one night. The room was lovely very clean and comfortable and had everything you needed. Staff were very friendly and the hotel bar area was lovely. Breakfast was very good everything you need for a full English. Good value for money would highly recommend a stay at the village inn will definitely stay again.
Great place in a lovely little village. The room was so cool we both had an amazing sleep, compared to the previous 8 hotels along the Coast 2 Coast in a heatwave. Breakfast was the best out of the 9 we’d stayed at.
The staff were so friendly, particularly, Jack who served us breakfast and was so lovely to talk to and our young family for breakfast. The breakfast was delicious and we loved the bar to eat in which was very pretty. The room was very quiet and the beds were very comfy. The area is very peaceful with a little playground and nice walks by the river.
Parking. Staff Breakfast beer
Wifi was awful. Woudn't recommend staying here if you need reliable wifi. It was intermittent at best. Gave up on it altogether after first day and used my mobile even for reading my book.
Breakfast decent Modern clean room
Glass door although it did have a curtain to draw so was fine
Delicious
Pillows were very hard!
Proximity to the venue
meals were very good and good value. T
he accomodation was ideal the only thing we didnt like was the bed it was very uncomfortable and very hard.
Lovely location. Nice room. Plenty of parking.
Kitchen closed at 8pm - I arrived at 8:15. Breakfast didn't start until 8am, I left at 7am.
Good food far better than expected
The bed was not very comfortable
Great location and really lovely pub, very nicely designed with lovely furniture and pretty lights. Breakfast was good.
The rooms are good and clean, bed really comfortable, could do with adding more shelving in bathroom and maybe updating sockets to include usb ports, but overall nice comfortable stay in a lovely pub in a great location, definitely stay again.
Delicious breakfast. Would have preferred a few more choices on the menu of traditional meals rather than spicy choices. Very comfy bed and warm room .
Entrance to dining area difficult to negotiate in a wheelchair due to uneven surfaces . However staff were helpful when we did enter .
The staff were very friendly. The restaurant offered a very charming atmosphere. They had a separate vegan/ vegetarian menu which was great for myself as a vegan. The inn is situated in a lovely peaceful village with beautiful surroundings.
They had sufficient breakfast options but some fruit might have been nice.
Het avond eten
Geen raam.
Breakfast was perfect the lady serving was exceptionally nice this is the second time we have stayed there and we will definitely stay again
Nothing
Food is amazing. Location is great. Friendly staff.
Musty smell in the rooms, I stayed in more than one room. Beds could do with being replaced as did not find them comfortable and I do travel alot for work. Needs a bit more thorough cleaning especially shower room. Stayed here since 2019 and can see how the quality of the rooms declined unfortunately. Would definitely go there for a meal, but would stay elsewhere in the future.
Quiet private accommodation with individual entrance. Clean and modern uncluttered space, on the whole thoughtfully designed. The price per person per night which included a really hearty breakfast was very reasonable. There were four of us staying in two rooms for two nights and both rooms were very clean. Tea and coffee were available and extra was made available on request. There was also wifi, TV and a hairdryer in each room. The breakfast choice of cereal and a traditional cooked breakfast was good for big appetites and the cooked breakfast was made with good quality ingredients.
Would have liked something to hang wet towels on/over on back of bathroom door or above radiator on entrance wall in bedroom. TV was uncomfortable to watch due to small screen size and placement on right hand side of bed. Some fruit and yogurt at breakfast would have given a lighter option for smaller appetites.
Evening meal was excellent. The room had every essential that a traveller would want, ie good bathroom with plenty of hot water, clean room, comfy bed and heating radiators that work. The simple things are all that matter in reality.
Only the start time for breakfast. Many people who work quite often start the day early. An 8:00 start for breakfast is not good for me but if that isn't a problem for you, The Village Inn is perfect.
Good job, fabulous breakfast.
Nothing was not to like.
Location, staff, accommodation and the food was was excellent .
Room was lovely. Hotel bar and food was fabulous. Breakfast very good
The bed was a bit small
Clean and on the level
Very cold on arrival . Next morning I turned on radiator taps! When I mentioned it at breakfast was told they didn’t turn it on because guests liked cold rooms. I said it should have been warm and guests had option of turning it off or opening a window.
Excellent location near A19 and N Yorks Moors but in a peaceful village setting with large village green, stream with ducks, daffodils etc. Food excellent. Staff friendly. Well frequented by locals.
Beds, towels etc are basic but adequate. No real ale.
The rooms were lovely, and all very clean.
No complaints really. If I had to say something it would be that the TV was very small!
Easy, friendly, clean, quiet, excellent breakfast and service, value for money
N/a
Excellent staff and food. Little niggles. Room cold on arrival, soon warmed when radiator turned on. No shelf in shower for shampoo etc. Perhaps could have provided shampoo and shower gel in shower. Toilet seat child size, not adult. All minor niggles but otherwise happy to stay there again
Funny drain noises at various times.
Perfectly comfortable and great value x
Nothing
Yes fantastic venue staff excellent xtra day cost double though other wise would have rated 10 out of 10.
Extra day rate was ridiculous
Convenient &clean
It was like stopping in a garage in a car park, no outlook with no windows except a sky light
Great location, clean, comfortable and fantastic food menu.
Nothing
Good value evening meals. Good breakfast. Somewhere to store my bike overnight. Despite the bame ,this is a 1970s budget motel, with accommodation in chalets in the car park and no bar for drinks, just a dining area and function room.
I booked a room with a bath but was moved to a smaller room with a very small bathroom and shower. When I questioned this I was told that the switch had been made by Booking.com. Thinking this sounded unlikely, i contacted the company who told me this was impossible as they don't have access to the hotel's complete rooms plan. Basically, I had been downgraded to fit a family in, without any apology.
Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room comfortable, location good and breakfast good. Couldn't ask for more.
Easy check in on arrival ,very friendly staff and good service had a beautiful meal in the restaurant and absolutely fantastic food best lasagne ever tasted me and hubby were absolutely stuffed from the food. Again excellent service We stayed 1night which also included breakfast next morning that was excellent too will definitely recommend a stay and we will definitely visit again room was perfect. Just what we required for our stay 😊
All ok
Room was clean and the staff were lovely. At breakfast, they checked that all was ok and if we needed anything, and reminded us they were closed on Sunday evening in case we needed anything .We had the roast on Sunday lunch and it was amazing Children can't wait to come back to stay again.
Friendly staff, comfortable room. Great breakfast
Room spacious and clean . Breakfast was ok bacon a bit hard but the rest ok. Very quiet resturant which was abit expensive for portion size
Not much atmesphire
Until I arrived I had no idea what the accommodation was like. I had not seen photographs. Breakfasts were consistently excellent and staff were friendly and helpful.
Black-out blinds over the windows to stop light entering the room above and at the sides of the curtains.
Looks new. American style motel built behind traditional pub on the village green. Very attractive location. Friendly and efficient staff. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Heating is adjusted by altering valve on central heating radiator. Ample off street parking in front of motel units
Only minor criticism was the dirty string controlling the bathroom light. Should be converted to external light switch.
Breakfast and dinner very good Location was opposite village green and quiet Well placed for interesting places and Croft race circuit
Shower cubical beginning to need replacement Tile grouting and shower tray sealant
Room was clean and spacious with very comfy beds, great parking and a nice location. Breakfast was excellent
Super friendly, good food, lovely stay
Breakfast very good did not have dinner room good
Stayed in room 7 bed comfortable but very creepy
