Staff were amazing, the facilities top notch and the chef made me some food I could actually eat with a million different allergies eating out is next to impossible

I booked 2 rooms and didn’t get the rest we needed tbh didn’t get a good nights sleep with all the shouting and screaming and swearing out in the hallways my wife and my daughter didn’t go to sleep until early hours in the morning until 3am it started about 11:30pm right though really disappointed tbh went down stairs to speak to two of the staff and the one gentleman was not very helpful or friendly tbh the lady was very friendly and helpful agreed to what a was complaining about she did mention she had a lot of complaints about the noise from the other residents also I did show the lady the recording from in side the room about the noise We traveled fall the way from Brigend wales We are Not happy customers
Breakfast. Effort of the staff.
The toilet in our Superior Room was broken. Difficult to believe this couldn’t have been spotted when the room was being prepped. The substitute room that we were then assigned was inferior and not well prepared and downright uncomfortable. By morning we were about as tired as the decor and really annoyed by the unusable wash hand basin. To be fair the duty manager comped the dinner and the room so all we paid for was two breakfasts and they were excellent.
Clean tidy good location
Check out time Sunday morning 10.30am, I prefer 11am at the weekend. but be aware you cannot use the pool or leisure facilities after this time. We didn’t shower Sunday morning and were going to go in the pool and then shower, unfortunately were told no we are not insured after 10.30am for guests after checkout. So that I wondered if your on the pool at 10.30am do they come in and tell you you have to leave! Of all the hotels I’ve stayed in I have never been advised we cannot use the pool after checkout. Very disappointing we were going to go back next month but will not now.
The spa was amazing, really lovely and very clean , we enjoyed them throughout the stay at the hotel and the gym was a good add on as well we went to the gym every morning as it’s something we love doing when at home.
We wasn’t able to use the gym or the spa the day of check out and we had treatments booked the day of checkout so use of the spa would’ve been nice The bed was really uncomfortable and mattress was hard by night three my back was really aching
Nice open plan reception.. room, facilities and staff.. breakfast was reasonably priced and really good quality
Black Mould on the shower sealant let down a spotless room.
From the warm and welcoming service to the breakfast and dinner, everything suited a lovely two night break. Calm and comfortable atmosphere with easy access to the spa.
We loved every part of our stay thank you. The changing rooms could do with a way of drying swimming costumes.
Beautiful hotel, in a nice location. It was the perfect hotel. The property deserves every single star!
Nothing, I love the hotel
The easy check in facilities location
Spa and gym was high quality. Great value for money. Lovely rooms. Martin was very helpful.
Came for a wedding today What can I say The staff couldn’t do enough for us The food and canapés were delicious the buffet was excellent The entertainment great and the wedding service was handled with love and care. Cannot thankyou all enough for a wonderful day
Great location and facilities for our needs
For me, bed and pillows too hard. Sound insulation from room above could improve. Squeaky floorboards, voices (regular volume) and bathroom activity could be heard at night.
We arrived at 22.20 having driven from Glasgow. Receptionist was helpful and our room was nearby. The room was ok.
At 22.20, I asked if I could have a quick beer in the bar, the receptionist checked, said it was open until 23.00. I dropped off our cases, walked round to the bar past reception at 10.30 to be told they had just closed the bar and staff had gone home. Allied to the breakfast service closing at 09.30 the next morning, it felt like the hotel was being run for the benefit of staff rather than paying customers. No wonder UK Hospitality is struggling.
Check in was smooth, and it was conveniently located for where we were headed for the weekend. The health spa facilities were also very well maintained.
The rooms were incredibly outdated, as was the bed. Despite being promised AC, it was broken for the entire duration of our stay - we weren’t told in advance or upon check in, and later had to go down to request a fan.
The hotel is nice for a corporate conference centre hotel, clean and well maintained. The big downside is the soundproofing in our room was awful, so we had to suffer 45 mins of the people in the room above doings circuits at 7am.
The hotel was amazing and it was nice and clean with everything you need
Room and bed size in a twin room, very comfortable beds Air conditioning was a boon in the current climate
Thought there was a limited choice of food for evening meals in the bar/restaurant but the quality of what was available was excellent
Excellent room.
When we arrived we found that we didn't have an air-conditioned room. We had booked this hotel at a higher than budgetted cost due to the availability of aircon, which is explicitly offered on the Booking.com site. When we explained this we were, begrudgingly, given an aircon room at no extra cost. Poor breakfast, terrible coffee. Difficulty in paying by Visa. Hotel accounting system not linked to card reader - strange!
the location was very good for us . the reception staff were very helpful . Generally the hotel setting was good .
The restaurant offered a limited level of food, at top prices. The staff were disorganized, inefficient, and seem to spend most of their time shouting to each other across the dinning area
Staff were extremely helpful, felt ill with a stomach upset on arrival and they went out of their way to help with room service and support.
Nothing
Staff were welcoming, helpful and overall excellent Spa was really very good Bennetts Bar and Restaurant served very good food Room was a good size and beds were re-made and towels changed every day
The room was showing signs of wear and tear and needed some refurbishing Air Conditioning didn’t work in room (but staff happily supplied a fan when we asked)
Clean, well kept and convenient
Nothing really
My son and daughter in law had there wedding here on 3rd of July, absolutely amazing hotel , the staff involved in the wedding were excellent, food and room was amazing I would reccomend this hotel to anyone holding a special event . The staff cant do enough for you very well organised fron start to finish . Thankyou to all staff would definitely stay here again.
Looks nice enough but: Paper thin walls & ceilings. Writing this as people in room above chatting - it is 2am. Noisy corridors, main road right next to it, people coming & going and arriving for the gym really early with music blaring from their car. Don’t come here if you want a rest. Food is overpriced and not that good. Will NOT be coming back here again.
3rd time staying here. We arrived quite late as had driven down from Scotland. We stayed in room 115. Room looked fairly fresh with a clean carpet and modern shower. We stayed for 2 nights and sadly the people above us were quite noisy and woke us up walking around the room in the middle of the night. When we checked out we did mention this and the receptionist asked if our stay was ok and we did say about the people in the room above and she said we should have reported it to reception! We didn’t even think as it was in the middle of the night and we just wanted sleep! We had a couples massage at the SPA and this was fantastic! We ate at Bennett’s restaurant and the food was outstanding as always. We had breakfast before we left and the lady was very friendly and chatty.
Bar staff were inexperienced and not familiar with the bar and drinks. Spa / pool area was boiling hot so not very appealing. Ordered two coffees and croissants room service in the morning and the quality of the coffee tasted of a vending machine coffee and the croissants were really tiny. Was charged over £15 for them, not good.
The room was excellent and comfortable, the staff in reception and facilities were very good and helpful. The overall feel of the hotel was excellent, very quiet and super clean.
I had an amazing spa treatment with Chloe Simpson and couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment I arrived, Chloe was warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. She made me feel completely at ease and tailored the treatment to my needs, ensuring I was comfortable throughout. The treatment itself was excellent—relaxing, rejuvenating, and carried out with great care and expertise. I left feeling refreshed and looked after. Thank you, Chloe, for such a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a first-class spa treatment!
Lovely grounds, location and clean, plenty of parking
The upstairs guest were noisy and could hear them banging but that’s a people issue not a hotel issue
Staff and cleansy
Noise from the room above (Room 123) was extremely disturbing. The people staying there should have experienced the same level of noise in our room to understand how bad it was. The noise was so loud that it felt as though they were walking inside our room. We are very disappointed. On both Friday and Saturday nights, we did not sleep well because of the constant noise from the occupants above us. The disturbance continued until around 2:00 am each night. The rooms have virtually no sound insulation at all. We could clearly hear every footstep and movement from the room above. We would never stay here again.
Nice location, decent room, good restaurant
They have a lot of functions there so we had to deal with lots of screaming children that we're out of control. Not the hotel's fault but annoying.
I didn't like the room as being disabled this was a very inadequate for me
Being a wheelchair user there was no disability access anywhere I couldn't go anywhere on my own as i couldn't get through any doors I found this very overwhelming and sad
Very clean. Slept well. Staff and facilities faultless
Excellent service and helpful staff. Room spotless
Comfy bed. Clean bathroom. Warmth.
A beautiful hotel in a lovely and convenient location. Friendly staff, spotless room with tea and coffee (and biscuits!). Nice shower too.
The bed was quite hard, but just personal preference.
Lovely luxury hotel great facilities for spa and pool easy to park
No breakfast included for £134
From my initial enquiry and venue visit, the staff were very understanding and were very compassionate regarding our specific requirements at a very difficult time. Samantha the events manager and Victor the duty manager were very professional and kept updated at every relevant stage. Sean who was the duty manager on the day and all his amazing staff ensured all our plans went off without a hitch . The bar and waiting on staff were amazing and efficient and ensuring the room was kept in an impeccable order. And finally the highlight of the day was the buffet. The quality of all the food was amazing . Many times buffets can be hit or miss or simply very dull but got to say this one was OUTSTANDING, every item was extremely tasty , well presented and always kept topped and hot were required. Huge thanks for being part of a special day to say goodbye to our dad ... To summarise my review of this venue we the Lesbirels quite simply can't recommend highly enough for whatever the occasion 5* Thanks Gina , Gaynor and Michelle xx
The room was comfotable, clean, quiet and we had excellent sleep. The leisure facilities were excellent and the restaurant was very good too.
A breakfast option of just taking coffee / cereal / toast would be useful as we do not generally take a large full breakfast.
Just off M6 while travelling South, clean,
No dislikes although bar was a bit soulless
Excellent location Big room Superb facilities Good food
Toilet not clean & appeared room poorly hoovered
I liked the location, room was good size and quiet. Aircon was good. Didn't get to try the gym or pool
The fan in the bathroom automatically came on and couldn't be separated or independently managed. Ideally it would be separate so you don't have to hear it in the night.
Beds and rooms were too small, Breakfast was poor Expensive if not using facilities like we weren’t

Great location off the M6, the rooms are of good size and well presented. Good lesuire facilities. Staff were friendly.
The guest who was above us kept walking around and sounded like Bigfoot! Not the hotel’s fault
Your receptionist where a credit to your business
Sauna not working during stay Would have liked a fridge in the room
We stayed at The Wrightington Hotel for three nights, this is our second visit. We used the Spa and had breakfast and dinner. I can recommend this hotel for the comfort, great food, attentive friendly sta. and value. We visited RHS Bridgwater which is within a reasonable drive for a day out.
Whilst The Wrightington is the best hotel we have stayed at in Wigan - admittedly not against stiff competition - it has issues. I’d sum them up as the unmistakeable sound of corners being cut. It isn’t run as you would expect a good hotel to be run, although it advertises itself as a good hotel. For example, the room was spacious and nicely-decorated by somebody who knows what he or she is doing. But… The room smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The smoking ban came in in 2008, I think, so I can’t understand why this would be the case in 2026. In the bathroom, which was very clean, the tank behind the loo dripped continuously, which was distracting. Similarly, the plug in the sink didn’t work properly so it was impossible to fill the sink to wash my face: the water kept draining away. The shower tray filled up with water quickly because somebody needs to put a dose of Mr Muscle down the drain to clear the pipes but clearly nobody could be bothered. The toiletries were nice but whenever I see those pump dispensers chained to the wall I know with a sense of inevitability that one of the pumps won’t be working properly and that I’ll need to do arm contortions in the shower to extract enough shower gel for one leg. Yes, that happened. The walls were thin so at 11.45 pm we had to listen to the drunk people in the room next door partying. They later moved to the room above us for some (we assume) clog dancing on the thin ceiling. The check in/check out process was deeply odd. I booked online via the hotel’s own website. No request for payment. A couple of days later I received an e-mail telling me off for not having paid yet despite the fact that the stay at the hotel was still two days away. What sort of hotel does that? I called reception and spoke to someone who didn’t seem to understand what I was saying but who nevertheless told me that I could pay on arrival, as if this were a huge concession. If the hotel wants guests to pay in advance, why not make it part of the booking process on the website? I assume that it is because the owners are too cheap to pay for a proper payment interface on the website and don’t care what impression that leaves on guests. When we checked out (at the unusually early check out time of 10.30 am (we made sure to leave by that time as by then we had formed the view that this was the sort of hotel that would enthusiastically enforce a fine for checking out two minutes late) we weren’t asked how our stay had been. I surmise that the hotel doesn’t care! Overall it felt that The Wrightington was charging an ambitious (for Wigan) £124 room only without breakfast for rather a cheapskate offering.
We have just stayed overnight and had a throughly enjoyable experience. From checking in things went well, Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and had everything for a pleasant overnight stay, The Evening Meal in the restaurant and bar was excellent and cooked to perfection. Breakfast was also enjoyable with plenty of choice for everyone. All the staff were Friendly, Helpful and Professional. I'm sure we will be returning in the future.
Nearby and convenient to the motorway Friendly staff
Pool out of commission Jacuzzi very chemical smelling and not ususable Restaurant very expensive and almost non existent vegetarian options
We’ve stayed here many times over the years & can always guarantee a warm welcome. The rooms are always immaculately presented with the latest addition of wonderful vegan toiletries being a really thoughtful touch. The food is always of superb quality, well cooked & delicious. A special thank you goes to Martin for his personal touch & for developing a really tasty vegan menu. Looking forward to our next visit already 😊 Mick & Renate, Scotland

Good location
The ceiling must contain the thinnest, noisiest, squeakiest floorboards in history. I could hear every step of the people above squeaking away and then when they finally fell asleep I could hear them snoring all night. It’s a shame as the hotel is nice, staff were great, breakfast tasty and room very spacious. If I’d been in the room above the stay would have been much different!
Very nice ,staff were great food was amazing
I understand it’s was a national holiday but we couldn’t use the pool or gym as we planned due to later check in and early check out plus we was asked to leave the gym at 17:40 but said it was open till 20:00
Excellent meal as usual 16 of us went and everything was excellent, lovely staff & service will definitely be returning soon.
The shared spaces were nice and clean, the pool area was lovely too Location is great from the motorway and where we needed to be.
The mattress felt like I was sleeping on the odd spring and the base of the bed. The latch was missing off the window so it couldn’t be shut properly to keep the noise out. We wanted a hot drink mid morning from the bar and the staff didn’t seem too thrilled that we had even asked. Sunday dinner advertised on the website from 1pm is incorrect, reception told us it was 3pm. Initial check in staff member was not the most cheery or welcoming person.
My friend and I booked for a day at the spa. The price was reasonable as a one hour massage was £80 and the total price of this spa including a £10 weekly supplement was £110. Upon arrival we were greeted at reception and we were able to sit in a waiting area to fill out our health forms and choose our lunch. She then showed us around the spa, where the things were such as the pool and the changing rooms as well as the relaxation room. we were able to move around the spa freely in our robe and slippers, she did recommend not wearing the slippers around the pool area as it was quite slippy with those slippers on and luckily we had both bought flip-flops. We spent the morning in the spa area using the pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room they were all well cleaned. The spa pool however was a bit of an odd colour and was very foamy but it was not too chlorinated which other places have been. The relaxation room was delightful it was nice and quiet. The lighting was perfect. Music was lovely however the room could’ve been a little bit warmer. There was water available in this room. The changing and shower room was particularly nice. There were plenty of towels provided the lockers were spacious and easy to use. We have to redress after the spa prior to going to lunch. My friend already knew this and the lady on reception did inform us of this. We went upstairs to the bar to use our dinner allowance considering we booked our lunch at 1 pm, they were quite slow to bring out our food however when the food did arrive, it was absolutely delicious. We returned back to the spa area for our treatments the ladies providing the treatments were very good. the music however was a little interesting to say the least they perhaps need to find a more relaxing playlist. We return to the bar later on for a cup of tea and some light refreshments before returning home.
Been here before for a function but didn’t stay and when I saw how lovely it all was booked to stay this time A very friendly welcoming check in Beautiful large room Plentiful parking Food and service were superb
I had been over sold this hotel, not the experience I was expecting. Receptionist rather miserable and the room was not superior by any standard other than larger than average. The wooden furniture was well worn and just lacked a luxury feel.
Very cold, receptionist very local, not a warm welcome you would get from a corporate hotel chain
Clean comfortable and stylish rooms
The leisure facilities and Leisure Reception staff were superb
A bit of confusion on my evening restaurant booking but it was not a big issue ..
we have stayed twice now, the first time we had a nicer room but both are good
Location, staff, facilities, everthing really
Great spa hotel in country setting, very clean with decent restaurant and health club facilities. Rooms good size with heating and kettle. Nice pool area with beds to relax in. Bed was comfy in room also.
Not much to dislike restaurant was a bit pricy but food was good and had quality beers and wines. Staff attentive in restaurant.
Bright and clean
You couldn’t use the gym, spa on the day you leave
Superior room type was spacious gym and Pool very good. Breakfast was good and onsite restaurant was very good
As noted in other reviews sound proofing between rooms etc is not the beat but this is outwith hotel control now.
Bed was comfortable.
The spa was fully booked so you couldn't use the facilities and there was no soap in the rooms. It was a bit too pricey but did not deliver what was expected like spa facilities etc.
Modern, clean, easy to park
Noise from bedroom above continued all night hence no sleep. No soundproof between rooms and floors. Reception informed during the night and again on checkout. Will not stay there again.
Fabulous, so clean, staff so friendly and helpful
