Good location, friendly service
Interiors are dated
Groovy decor, warm, comfortable bed.
Couldn’t find a dish cloth to wipe the bench. Otherwise everything we needed.
I love the ethos of Sherwood sustainability and we love the restaurant
The Reno
De kamer was schoon en goede locatie
De kamer is heel gehorig, je hoort de buren letterlijk praten. De prijs/kwaliteit verhouding.
The staff. Good shower.
I would rate the room we were first given as a $50 a night back packers accomodation. We were given a slightly better room when we complained to the manager but the room was still very sub standard. No tv , no comfortable chairs, very basic decor. Not happy and would never recommend to anyone
Location was okay - however only useful if using rental car. Rooms were ready early so check in was fast
Service mediocre. Facilities minimal. Not very kid friendly. Water was out for half a day. Rooms very old. And for price , could do with investment improvements Bed leg was broken and they just stick a brick under it for our entire stay, bed was on a lean. Staff are quite rude and not very hospitable. Very little amenities or facilities available for basic functions in room. Multiple powerpoints don’t work. No tvs and no alternative activities. Restaurant lovely but no realistic for everyday dining.
Nice view, bed was fairly comfortable and room had great luggage storage esp for ski bags.
Bathroom is extremely outdated.
The sauna was good and the staff helpful
No slippers/ no toothpaste and toothbrush in the room
Location is great, food is excellent and well-priced
The rooms were serviced very late in the day. If you went out and came back in the afternoon, they were then serviced while you were there. Rooms are a bit tired now but I see they are in for a revamp shortly. A little overpriced for the accommodation.
Great restaurant, excellent staff. Free sauna!
Great location. Excellent restaurant. Yoga onsite.
Low key relaxed rustic vibe
Due for a minor refresh, but happening soon apparently
You need a car to stay here as it is a short drive out of the town centre but, the parking is free so, that's a bonus!
The rooms are very noisy. My room had an adjoining door and I could hear the people next door very loudly - not relaxing. Also, there were a lot of noises in the room that weren't good for sleeping. Electrical noises like appliance motors turning on and off.
The room was way different from the photo on booking.com
Views.
GREAT STAFF
GREAT STAFF
Location amazing and dinning at the restaurant was superb
The rooms are too dated. Not safe. Hand rails in shower please. Must have TVs.
Update
The mountain view
Staff not understanding what you say to them.
Great shower pressure. Comfortable bed & linen/towels were great. Quality coffee & tea 😊
Ok for overnight the layout was different but suited us as we just needed a comfortable bed ...
Loved the views from our room, the big comfy bed and all with a focus on being sustainable which was impressive and important for us. Having the beautiful restaurant on site was a bonus.
Couldn’t work out how to turn outside light off as would’ve preferred the room to be darker overnight but not a biggie.
Location - close to our family in Queenstown Good views . Suite well equipped. Some cooking facilities. The ethos of Sherwood appealed to us - sustainability , giving back to the Community, using local produce etc. The Hotel restaurant has j been awarded a Michelin star.
Whilst we didn't have our own car our family visited on occasion. Parking was becoming difficult - partialltyI suspect due to the rise in popularity of the restaurant. PEak season - school holidays and skiing.
We like the layout of the complex, being able to go to a restaurant that is on site was a huge bonus for us!
The bathroom was a bit dated
Very tasty breakfast, and dinner from the restaurant.
Providing decaf coffee in the room and provide utensils (Knife and fork set)
The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in/check-out was quick and easy. Parking was convenient with plenty of first-come, first-served spaces. The private sauna was simple to book and a nice feature. Since there was no TV in our room, we hired the tablet, which came loaded with Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+, and the internet radio in the lodge was a nice touch that added to the atmosphere. Also, good location.
While some of the amenities were great, the overall stay was disappointing. The sauna wasn't as relaxing as we'd hoped because there was a noisy gathering nearby during our booking. The room also lacked soundproofing, and we could clearly hear other guests. The heat pump was loud but didn't provide much warmth. Although the lighting created a nice ambience, the curtains didn't have a sheer option to let natural light in while maintaining privacy. The biggest downside was the bed, which wasn't very comfortable. The pillows and duvet were quite flat, and for me, a comfortable bed is the most important part of any stay. The bathroom also felt dated. The shower temperature was difficult to control and would suddenly become very hot (leading to some temporary burns on my partner's skin), and the extractor fan wasn't working, which had led to mould in one corner (I reported this to reception). Overall, I was really looking forward to staying here because I liked the wellness concept, but the room simply didn't deliver. Perhaps this was because we booked the most affordable room, but with so many other accommodation options nearby, I don't think I'd stay here again.
Love Sherwood - have returned here many times over the years and every time it is wonderful
Nothing
Location Quirky Eco friendly Really warm Fantastic staff Great value for money
Nothing
The restaurant is excellent. The response to our shower not draining was swift.
Beds were hopeless. No TV.
Location
Underwhelming, more like a camp ground. Broken pot handle, dirty bathroom, very tired and becoming run down. Will not stay again
Location, the restaurant on site had amazing food, staff was amazing and friendly
Nice restaurant
Rooms narrow and tight, limited car parks
View
No TV, bed was very low with not much bedding
Very good. Some inconsistencies on what was included within breakfast each day as advised by different staff
The breakfast was lovely- not a huge menu and could do with expanding the options. However the daily breakfast package is $40pp for adults and $20pp for children however you could order a main and a drink from the menu for less than the package fee which makes no sense really. The room servicing was also great, the room was always tidied daily and beds remade.
There were so many strange things about this hotel which in my opinion makes your stay much less enjoyable. Firstly no TV was a huge downside with 2 children and although offered a projector, I have no streaming services to use that with and the internet is so awful that streaming would be an issue. No microwave either and the 'cooking facilities' were not exactly easy to use- no frying pans made cooking easy meals impossible. The 2 children's beds were the couch, so no one could sit on the couches and enjoy some down time. There is ZERO storage in the whole place so all clothing, underwear and shoes were just on top of the table in the lounge room or all over the floor, so again, the table became unusable, there was nowhere in the bathroom for 4 people's bathroom requirements and no where to hang 4 towels - 2 only could be hung. There was also no where to hang your skiing clothes when trying to dry them for the following day and the hotel is advertised as being close to ski fields, a simple hanging rack in the lounge room would have gone a long way to keeping everything off the table and floor. The kitchen bins were located in the lounge room on the carpet. Water pressure was non existent in the shower however the shower was very hot, which made up for the pressure issues. I feel like with some minor alterations this hotel could be very comfortable and enjoyable. Value for money is not something that I feel that I received in this hotel. It was expensive and not worth the money.
Room was good and cosy, facilities good, great breakfast inclusion!
Room didnt have any coat hooks, Excessively expensive on Laundry use.
Meet my needs for two nights
Parking, also a little hard to find.
The room was amazing, it fit the vibe that we were going for. The view was amazing especially in the mornings. The location was perfect as it was central to go to the mall/supermarket and going to the CBD.
The bar staff
Nothing
Can't beat the price and location. It's just a short drive into the town center and has great views of the Remarkables. They provided coffee, tea, and milk, and restocked upon request. Housekeeping made the bed daily as well. They also made it really easy for us to extend our stay when we needed to.
Parking was a little limited onsite, but there was street parking right behind our building. The water temperature was a little touchy. You either get freezing cold or boiling hot, but that's kind of the case throughout the country, not just here.
The location is fantastic, close to town with great views of the mountains and lake. The staff are very welcoming and helpful both at reception and the restaurant. The restaurant has such high quality food. Our lodge was spacious and had most things that made our stay enjoyable.
In our room, a 2 bedroom with basic kitchen would have been fantastic if a coffee machine was available and not a coffee plunger (personal preference) and a microwave to heat up the milk. The lighting in the lounge room is a little bit dim but what we found lacking was a table with chairs for a comfortable place to eat. The bench and bench chair wasn’t functional when we all wanted to sit down and have something to eat as a family.
Spacious accommodation. Good layout of space. Amazing food and drinks and atmosphere of the onsite facilities restaurant and bar and outdoor fire area. Views are amazing and location is great for airport and remarkables skiing. Always stay here whilst in Queenstown. Can highly recommend.
Stairs are very noisy and room in general is noisy - outside noise ect. No key return box for out of hours. The parking should be specifically for that room and that people visiting for the bar/restaurant should have to park above or outside of the facilities, especially given your paying X amount for a room it's not acceptable to have to cart all your luggage to your room from afar when you have booked to stay here unlike visiting for dinner. That was frustrating.
Location, comfort, friendly staff and food in no particular order
This was such a fun hotel to stay in. The vibes were 10/10. It was so relaxing and I'm obsessed with the eco vibes. The yoga studio had amazing classes, the plunger coffee, divine smelling soaps, mountain views and cozy aesthetic made for an amazing stay. Wish I'd stayed longer.
Absolutely nothing.
The staff were lovely and the room was comfortable and cosy. Our room had a balcony perpendicular to the lake which had beautiful views, and our window faced the other way looking up the hill so wasn't as nice of a view but just depends which room you get given. There was a mini fridge, tea, coffee, and even milk provided and I appreciated how the hotel made an effort towards sustainability. Off-street parking was available and the restaurant was nice. Would recommend and would stay here again :)
The main downside was that our shower was very difficult to balance to get the right temperature - if turned even slightly it could go from freezing to boiling and the water pressure wasn't very good. It did get cold in the room at night despite the heater and blankets because there is no duvet on the bed, only sheets and blankets.
Unique aesthetic, warm, clean, warm and friendly staff. Restaurant was next level good! Free tea coffee and milk.
Nothing.
Loved the hotel room and how it was decorated. Super comfy bed!
Bathroom was pretty outdated. Food was okay but not worth the price.
Been there many times, still delivering a consistent awesome service and experience !
Easy to find and rooms were spacious, clean and warm. The on site restaurant was superb
Nothing to dislike except you had to drive to get into town
Coming back here again and again. The rooms and grounds are just so tasteful and the restaurant is to die for.
There's nothing I didn't like about this place
Location, staff, aesthetic

My favourite place to stay in Queenstown by far! Their restaurant is also incredible.

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
6.8/10Mixed signals: generally acceptable housekeeping but specific issues reported (mould in a bathroom corner, extractor fan not working) lowered the score.
Service
9.2/10Consistently praised: friendly, helpful reception and quick responses to issues; staff and service frequently described as excellent.
Location
9/10Very positive: close to Queenstown centre/family, great views and convenient for activities; location repeatedly highlighted as a strength.
Room Quality
7/10Mixed to below-expectation: some rooms comfortable with quality bedding, but multiple reports of uncomfortable beds, dated bathrooms, small/narrow family rooms, noise and poor soundproofing.
Amenities
8.3/10Strong amenities overall (on-site Michelin-starred restaurant, private sauna, tablet streaming, good internet radio), though some practical gaps (no in-room TV in some rooms, limited parking).
Value for Money
8.4/10Generally seen as good value by several guests; positive mentions of worth and quality dining enhance perceived value despite some room shortcomings.
Food and Beverage
9.5/10A clear highlight: excellent restaurant (Michelin recognition), very tasty breakfast and dinner repeatedly praised.
Overall Experience
6.6/10Varied: many repeat visitors and strong positives around dining and service, but meaningful disappointments for some (uncomfortable beds, dated bathrooms, noise and shower issues) brought the overall experience down for those guests.
