Very friendly owner, generally a very amenable stay

The mirror in the bathroom was too high!

Lovely bathroom & bedroom. Dog-friendly with no extra charges.

Staff were somewhat offhand at check-in (we were obviously exhausted but no-one asked to carry luggage up) & at breakfast (breakfast put down & a hasty retreat made). Despite being dog-friendly, there was no bin in the garden & we we were instructed to take it up the road to the car park & put it in the bin there. The bed was uncomfortable & the pillows too soft to be of any support. Breakfast - no fried bread, one slice of toast under a mangled & dried-out fried egg. No coffee refills. Check-in after 5pm & check out by 10am - poor. Breakfast 7-9. The road was very noisy - late-night car horns & traffic started at 4.30a.m. Even with the window closed, it was noisy & woke us up.

The breakfast and evening meals were really nice, cooked and well presented, the dining areas are laid out well and very tidy and clean, the proprietor Gill is like a whirlwind looking after the guests and making sure they have everything they need, and is a naturally happy smiley person, all the staff are very professional, friendly, and polite, everybody was more than willing to give us information regarding the surrounding area to visit, the whole Inn has a really nice warm friendly atmosphere which made our stay there so much more enjoyable. we would recommend anybody to stay there who want a relaxed friendly place to stay

there wasnt anything bad, unfortunately our room was at the front nearest the main road and there was a some kind of manhole cover on the main road that really banged when the cars and lorries went over it ( nothing to do with the Inn } which made sleeping quite hard when the traffic picked up early in the mornings

The proprietor Wayne was very welcoming and always on hand to help in anyway. He ran the Oakhill like it was his own home. The staff were outstanding, very knowledgeable and courteous.

Voor ons was dit de tweede keer dat we hier verbleven. Opnieuw zijn we heel tevreden over deze accommodatie. Het personeel is behulpzaam en zeer vriendelijk. De kamer was netjes en heel sfeervol ingericht. Het ontbijt heerlijk en ook diners die we er hebben genuttigd waren lekker. Fijn ook om te zien dat er wat aanpassingen waren gedaan in het interieur wat ons het gevoel geeft dat er echt met aandacht voor deze plek gezorgd wordt.

Helemaal niets. We hebben een super verblijf gehad. Dikke aanrader!

Het late inchecken (17:00) en vroege uitchecken (10:00). Maar na gegeten te hebben in het restaurant werd het duidelijk, Het is een restaurant met wat mooie kamers en echt de moeite waard.

Nothing to dislike in the pub. The pub is on the side of a busy road, and the traffic noise was loud, particularly when lorries climbing the hill at night. Shame as lovely pub and I know they can't do anything about the traffic.

Clean well appointed bedroom, location, nice touches like the little pack of florentines. Great pizza, decent bar. We used it as a stopover en route to Padstow and couldn’t fault it.

The property is located on a very noisy road, this can't be helped of course but it does disturb your sleep a little.

Fantastic stop off on my way to Cornwall. The staff were incredibly kind and made me feel so welcome and looked after. I was travelling alone, and the warmth and kindness I received was exceptional. Bonus points to the best avocado and eggs for breakfast! Thank you so much, I’ll be back!

Die Pension mit den Zimmern über dem Pub war sehr urig. Der Biergarten war sehr schön. Das Frühstück und Abendessen ist sehr zu empfehlen😊 Das Personal war sehr nett und Hunde freundlich. Kommen gerne wieder.

La meilleure étape de notre périple pour plusieurs raisons : -bien que notre voiture soit tombée en panne et qu'on ait du arriver à 22h15 sur place, la dame nous a attendu gentiment alors qu'ils étaient fermés depuis 22h. - la chambre (numéro 2) est très joliment décorée, spacieuse, la salle de bains flambante neuve. - serviettes moelleuses, gel douche, nécessaire à thé/café/chocolat, bouteille d'eau. - lit confortable avec 2 choix d'oreillers, des draps agréables. - petit déjeuner délicieux et bien garni - le pub est très chaleureux, avec une ambiance qui donne envie de s'y poser Le tout à seulement 10/15 minutes en voiture de Wells qui est une petite ville adorable à ne pas manquer ! Merci beaucoup pour cette étape qui nous a énormément plu, on aurait adoré rester une nuit de plus !

Dans les petites choses qui pourraient être améliorées, mais qui n'ont pas du tout gâché notre séjour : - des rideaux vraiment occultants, car là on a quand même la lumière du jour et c'est un peu dommage - la couette était un peu chaude, peut-être envisager une couette plus légère pour l'été, mais rien de grave ! - une petite route passe devant le pub, il y a donc quelques véhicules qui passent le matin, mais honnêtement c'est extrêmement calme la nuit. Je le précise plutôt pour des personnes qui seraient extrêmement sensibles: prévoir éventuellement des boules quies.

Una delle tre camere che ci sono state date aveva un bagno non all'altezza, lavandino piccolissimo e basso e doccia molto stretta. Odore di vernice nei corridoi/ stanze. Forse erano state verniciate da poco. Nella mia stanza i 2 bicchieri che c'erano sulla scrivania non erano stati puliti e c'erano ancora tracce di caffè all'interno.

My favorite inn. Stayed here 4 times this year whilst doing a course and it started to feel like coming home. Wayne and the staff are lovely, warm and friendly. My room was always comfortable with a lovely bathroom and even a fan on the hot days. Coffee tea hot chocolate in the room and little gourmet treats on the bed on arrival. Loved the big fluffy towels. Very nice wine list, with some good Italian wines on it and a tasty gourmet food menu. Sunny terrace where my group and I enjoyed many drinks during our stay. Breakfast options were delicious.

Die Zimmer sind recht unterschiedlich. Zwei Doppelzimmer gebucht, eines war deutlich größer als das andere. Ansonsten ein guter Preis für das Gebotene. Stilvolle Ausstattung, sauber.

Die Straße vor dem Gebäude ist laut, auch spät Abends und auch früh morgens. Es sind auch viele LKW, die über Metall-Gullideckel donnern. Man sollte hier bei Temperaturen, bei denen man Nachts das Fenster aufmachen möchte, nicht übernachten.

Lovely little pub in Shepton Mallet, very clean, very well presented. They thought about the little touches, chocolates in the room and a bottle of water. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

The only thing is that there were tractors that drove up and down the road out front which were quite noisy but this is not the pubs fault just something to be aware of if you are a light sleeper!

Not the pub's fault but we had the window open due the heat which meant we heard truck coming down the read from very early.

What a fantastic find on Booking.com. After a long day of hiking it was a great place to finish up in. The staff were pleasant and the rooms were very clean. The rooms varied in sizes but all were servicable. Breakfast was delicious. A full English to set me on another day of hiking. Would recommend it.

Two out of the three bedroom booked had good sized bathrooms but mine was literally a cupboard. It was spotless and the comfy bed made up for it.

Only stayed one night but was welcomed in very late on a Sunday by the landlady, which saved the day.

In room 3 specifically, the room is slightly slanted, so the when you lay on the bed your head is lower than your feet (so we did have to sleep the wrong way round). But it was comfy and clean, staff were lovely, but might need to think about the placement of the bed or raising the head end slightly!

It was an authentic English pub B&B, with a community atmosphere.

The customer service was very good, in all staff. The room was spacious, clean and comfy. The packed breakfast was excellent and catered to my food intolerances. The evening meal was lovely.

The car park is slightly remote from the building and the portion size of the evening meal was a little small.

The only slight issue we had was that we stayed during the hottest days of the year. There was not much they could do in this exceptional heat but a small fan would have made quite a difference. We had similar circumstances in another hotel and they had a small fan available in the wardrobe which we did use and it provided cooling air in the room. Just a suggestion and quite a cheap option.

Really friendly helpful staff, particularly Wayne. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely room with newly refurbished bathroom. As it was hot I asked for a fan and was brought one, no problem. Comfortable bed with good pillows. Powerful shower. Really pretty, peaceful garden. Good choice of breakfast.

Breakfast was good quality, hot and cooked to order. Limited variety, but what there was, was good quality. Staff were most polite and efficient.

Bed was a little tired, but the rest of the Inn was functional and homely.

From the warm welcome, to the excellent meal (with great ales & house wine) to the superb room and good breakfast we were very happy with every element of our stay. We read the good reviews of the Oakhill Inn, but sometimes reality can be a little less convincing, but in this case the opposite was true, the Oakhill was better than we'd expected and made for a really enjoyable stay. Overall the quality of everything was great - and it was fairly priced making it good value too.

Stayed for one night and ate at the inn. Very busy for a Sunday and they could have done with more staff as service was abysmal.

The owner was friendly and welcoming on our arrival and he showed us to our room. The lunch and breakfast we had were delicious and the newly renovated courtyard garden was a gorgeous spot to sit in. The room was well decorated and the bed was comfortable. Very handy to have its own parking as well.

Really friendly staff and fabulous food

The manager is so welcoming, friendly and personable. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was sensational with lots of delicious options, and the chef was so helpful and friendly despite being all on his own for the breakfast service. The rooms feel classy and cosy, and the bed was so comfy! The whole area is beautiful.

Liked everything about this place. Brilliant location for us as visiting family near by. Rooms were really comfortable, we had a great nights sleep and a delicious breakfast. Staff were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night and food was very good.

I wasn't able to have breakfast as I wsa having an operation at the hospital so cannot rate that, although it did sound very nice. Gill checked me in - she was very welcoming and helpful and arranged a taxi for me for the following morning. Melissa, my waitress at dinner was also excellent. The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was small but adequate however there were no shelves to use for one's own toilertries. toothbrush etc and it would have benefitted enormously from a small shelf in the showre and also one above the sink.

It would have been nice to be able to check in between 3 - 5pm. Also it would have been much better to have somewhere to put toiletrires in the bathroom.

the chipped paint on the skirting and marks on the carpets, it’s quite dated. The car park is an issue it’s small and parking on the street is a challenge. We eventually parked a fair walk away and moved our car to the car park when there was room later in the evening

The staff were honestly amazing. The manager is one of the best I’ve ever met, he was really kind and attentive. Breakfast was also delicious and a lovely lady served me too.

Super helpful and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent food, both dinner and breakfast. Even though they were so busy with Christmas diners we were very well attended to. Lovely clean room with super comfy bed. We will be staying again. Highly recommended.
