It was a lovely period cottage. Well situated. Very comfortable accommodation. Alan offered me tea and cake in the garden when I got there, which was a nice touch and very welcome. Breakfast was very nice. Alan was helpful with great local knowledge of where to visit. I am glad I took his recommendation to go to Stourhead Estate.

Breakfast was at one long table with other guests, which some guests might not like.

Alan is an exceptional host, nothing was too much. A beautiful house and garden with so much character. Room was tastefully furnished, Alan has an eye for style. Food was exceptional, all high quality.

People in the next room seemed to wander around a fair bit during the night creaking the floor boards which were loud enough to disturb our sleep unfortunately. I'm not sure we are fans of the communal dining for breakfast but the other guests were all very friendly

Presente al nostro arrivo ci ha accolti all'orario concordato con un gradito tea e torta. La sala della colazione è incantevole e la mise en place impeccabile. Ottima e varia qualità dei prodotti. Anche in questo caso la disponibilità di Alan è stato un plus. Molto apprezzate la compagnia e le conversazioni con Alan che ci hanno fatto sentire accolti e a casa. Consigliamo vivamente. Beautifully restored and furnished historic property. Exceptionally comfortable room with en-suite. Very welcoming host who offered us afternoon tea with cake on arrival. Extremely tasty and well presented full breakfast with additional fruits, yoghurt and accompanying fresh juices.

Booked a room for my mum for a family wedding. She said it was very nice, staff were friendly and the breakfast was really good. Very amenable when we asked for an early check in

A beautiful room in an idyllic setting - very peaceful. The breakfast was excellent and Alan made us feel very welcome.

Allen was very welcoming and attentive. We were offered tea and cake in the beautiful garden on arrival. The bed was comfy and the bedlinen first class. Soft fluffy white towels and plenty of hot water. Due to the stone walls the cottage was cool ( even in a heatwave). The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice quality ingredients and freshly cooked to order. We look forward to visiting again next year. Maplestone really is a hidden gem.

Fantastische locatie in een leuk plaatsje en ideale uitvalsbasis om de omgeving van cheddar (gorge) en wells te bezoeken. Prachtige, ruime en zeer schone, mooi ingerichte kamer. Bijzonder behulpzame en vriendelijke gastheer. Voortreffelijk ontbijt en bij aankomst ontvangst met thee en cake in de binnentuin.

The garden, the room, the dining area - everything! My daughter, Kara, and I were there for 2 nights. Alan helped us from the time we arrived, helping out with parking, carrying our luggage, etc, to the time we left. He made an awesome breakfast every morning for his guests, and the food was fabulous!! We enjoyed visiting with Alan and the other guests. Alan told us about different places to go see and helped out with locations and directions, etc. We never felt hurried during our meal. Excellent!!

A little hard to park, but Alan was there to help every step of the way!!

The property dates back to the Seventeenth Century and has been sympathetically furnished to emphasise the property’s history. The room was large, having a king-size bed, a seating area wit(sofa and two,arm chairs and a private seating area outside. In addition, there were some nice touches such as welcoming lights which came on automatically when you entered your room. The breakfast was good. However, the main asset of this B&B is the host - he is extremely experienced running this and other B&Bs for over 30,years. He welcomed us with tea and cake on our arrival and was enthusiastic about his property and Shepton Mallet, sharing a wealth of knowledge and adding to our stay.

Although there is car parking, it is difficult to get into - luckily my car has myriad of cameras which compensated for my poor reversing skills.

It’s a charming period property, sitting in a beautiful walled garden, in a secluded part of the town; a real gem.

Wonderful quiet setting, such a lovely find in the heart of Shepton Mallet. The house has a lovely attention to detail and a beautiful garden to match. Really comfortable rooms, fantastic night’s sleep. The host Alan, greeted us with cake and coffee on our arrival and served an amazing breakfast the following morning, what a treat. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to the area, thank you so much for having us!

A beautiful place to stay with a first class breakfast and exceptional host. The beds were so comfortable and the shower worked well. We stayed in a heatwave and the cool interior of the stone building was much appreciated.

I marked it down 1 for location as although the geographical location on the edge of the town, within easy walking distance was great, as was the proximity to woods and a footpath, the access road was narrow and the parking very tight.

Absolutely beautiful bed and breakfast, the suite we had was so comfy, , the garden a beauty, and the host so welcoming and helpful with recommendations. The best!!!!

Really lovely property in a good location. We could walk through Shepton Mallet (which was ideally located for our purposes). The host is very professional, gave us lots of good advice about where to go to get what we needed. Bed very comfortable. Also the garden is a real treat, we sat in the evening sun in such peace. Breakfast was good.

Slight smell of damp in one room. The rooms and bathroom were very clean though, the towels and bed linen were fresh, so not much to complain about.

Everything about our stay was wonderful, we really loved the house and the garden is beautiful. The decor is so tasteful and we had everything we needed. Breakfast was lovely too, we had a great veggie full English, and it was nice to chat to Alan too and meet other guests. Have already recommended to family and passed on a Maplestone booklet.

Loved the history and quaintness, our host Alan was very hospitable and gave us a fabulous breakfast. It was tastefully decorated and the bed very comfortable.

I loved the property but location was not handy to find an evening meal. We compromised by buying tasty food from local shops to eat in Alan’s pretty garden .

Die schönen Fotos von Maplestone sind nicht getrickst, es ist in echt genau so schön! Alan ist ein sehr aufmerksamer Gastgeber, der es sich nicht nehmen lässt, das Gepäck aufs Zimmer zu bringen. Er gibt gute Tipps für Besuche in Bath und in die Umgebung. Er serviert ein Full English Breakfast und riesige Kannen Tee und Kaffee. Das Zimmer ist sehr schön groß und gemütlich. Schön war es auch, dass beim Frühstück alle Gäste an einem Tisch sitzen und sich unterhalten können.

Nichts- wir hätten gerne mal im schönen Garten gesessen, dazu war es leider zu kühl.

Het was een fraai ingerichte kamer en de B&b was rustig gelegen. Tuin was romantisch met veel bloemen. Prachtig plekje. We hebben heerlijk ontbeten. Alles was gewoon goed. De gastheer gaf ons practische adviezen die erg goed van pas kwamen.

Absolutely charming property, with stylish decor throughout. Tucked away in a quiet spot. Well positioned to get to many lovely towns and villages nearby. The room was spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. We slept very well. Alan Offers an amazing breakfast with locally sourced produce. I’d thoroughly recommend a stay here. If a property is rarely available it speaks volumes. Jump at the chance if you can.

Das Frühstück war sehr gut, auf unseren Wunsch hin "traditional english breakfast" vom Feinsten. Der Gastgeber war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, Parken im Hof kein Problem und die Stadt fußläufig erreichbar. Es war für die Jahreszeit (Mai) sehr kalt, und die Heizung war für uns schon angestellt - vielen Dank nochmal dafür. Wir haben hier zwei wunderbare Tage verbracht, können nur eine große Empfehlung aussprechen

Mooie, gezellig ingerichte B&B met goede bedden, schone badkamer en warme, gezellige ontbijtruimte. Het ontbijt was voortreffelijk met verse producten. Alan is een fijne gastheer met elke dag weer nieuwe tips voor uitstapjes.

Beautiful Maplestone cottage! Alan was super friendly and couldn't be more accommodating. Gave us tips for the local area and nothing was too much trouble. The bed was so comfortable, we melted into it! breakfast 10/10. We will definitely be back!

The only very small gripe I had was the stairs up to our room, I have less mobility so the narrow stairs were difficult, I would stay here again though. Our host was very friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Everything oozed quality and attention to detail. The Potting Shed had a separate Lounge to the Bedroom which was ideal. The garden was beautifully kept and attracted so many different species of birds and insects. Host Alan was an excellent and offered good insights to local places and attractions.

When all four letting rooms are hired, parking can be 'challenging' - access to the property is via a narrow no-through road and if the designated parking outside the double garages is fully occupied, then turning a larger vehicle around is awkward (especially when a third guest car is parked on the grass track just outside the property curtilage)

Alan was a fantastic host and the attention to detail was exceptional. He was extremely knowledgeable about the local area and always happy to help. The rooms were lovely and clean and had everything you needed. They were the perfect mix of luxury and comfort. The garden is beautiful. The breakfast was really good, lots of choice, with good quality ingredients and very filling. Overall maplestone had a lovely, cosy feel to it and we’d definitely recommend to others.

Cannot rate Maplestone highly enough. Ideal location for exploring East Somerset, Wells, Bath, Cheddar Gorge nearby. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast perfect and Alan gave us so much information on the history of Shepton Mallet and of the surrounding area. Wish could have stayed longer

Rooms were great, beds so comfortable and the welcome was amazing. The house is super cute and welcoming so honestly highly recommend and would go back.

Honestly very little, the only thing I would say is that there were a few hairs in the bathroom which I didn't love.

We were in the Loft room. It is a beautiful large room with its own entrance and ensuite. We slept well. Breakfast was delicious. Lovely location. We would thoroughly recommend Maplestone.

Alan greeted us on arrival and showed us to our room. It was a lovely, comfortable room, warm and cosy especially as we had driven through some snow showers to get there. Lots of recommendations were given about eating out plus areas of interest to visit. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and nothing seemed too much trouble. We would certainly return if we came back to that area again and would highly recommend it to others.

It’s a truly stunning period property, and feels more like a boutique hotel than a very reasonably priced B&B. Alan was the perfect host- truly cares about giving guests the best experience, and puts real love into what he does there. The breakfasts were genuinely the best cooked breakfasts we’ve had in many years, and I’m a chef by trade. The meat was locally sourced, and the continental offering was above and beyond what anyone might reasonably expect. Honestly, the whole experience blew us away, and we’re already trying to work out when we can return.

Honestly nothing!

Maplestone is a little gem. It is cosy, clean and located in a convenient location for walking into the town centre. The breakfast is excellent and Alan uses fresh, local produce. Delicious. Our room was warm, clean and cosy. The bed was so comfortable as well. We were made to feel welcome and Alan has time to chat with you and get to know you which is lovely. I will certainly stay here again. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Beautiful absolutely beautiful. My friend and I were attending a ghost hunt in Shepton Mallet jail which was a lovely 5 minute stroll from Maplestone. Alan is a lovely, friendly Host that is happy to stop and chat over breakfast, filling us in on all the places to eat and more importantly shop! Maplestone is a perfect base for Bath/Bristol/Glastonbury and my new Favorite place Wells. Breakfast was just perfect, a lovely selection of fruit/yoghurt/cereals and then a cooked breakfast which was lovely and served with a smile. The room was beautifully decorated and with quality bedding. Safe to say we’d love to come back
