Staff ( both management and restaurant) were very friendly, attentive and well trained. I loved the shabby chic of a country garden in winter- beautiful. Birds to keep us entertained during breakfast.

Breakfast was the same both mornings - pastries could have been varied. Kippers or smoked salmon could be offered at breakfast for non meat eaters. There was a smelly drain in the garden somewhere near our room door. Fire extinguishers had expired inspection stickers (room and reception). The maintenance man slipped up.

The staff provided excellent service, and the room I occupied was notably spacious (old school feel). The presence of a gas fireplace was a delightful amenity. I particularly enjoyed the terrace view from my accommodations.

Regrettably, there wAs insufficient vegan meal options available, even after notifying. Breakfast was disappointing for me given the varietysupplied for everyone else. They did however communicate ahead of time that the vegan supplier was unavailable.

The staff were friendly and helpful, making the experience pleasant. The food and services were good, and the lodge had a relaxing atmosphere.

The room was not what I thought I would get. Very small, no carpet, shower small and not fully operable. For the price expected more.

Staff friendly and helpful.

We stayed at Budmarsh years ago and had an amazing overnight experience. The original restaurant serving exquisite meals is gone, the beautiful wine cellar is gone, the ambience of the bar area has been compromised by the large empty hall/room where the original restaurant was. Sad. but I believe ownership had changed and so has the experience.

The option of room service. Being helped with our bag to and from the car. The staff. The overall service. The aircon. The Sunday buffet breakfast. The WhatsApp service.

The drive way is rocky.

Room size, bed size are huge! I lived that. The interior design of it all is just timeless. Beautiful place indeed

Bathrooms might need a little reno...mold marks on the silicon and grout are an easy fix😊 would give a more clean look.

Beautiful grounds, comfortable room and friendly staff. Room was warm as there was air-conditioning so we didn't feel cold. Spacious bathroom with warm shower. Good breakfast. Staff very helpful.

The food and staff were fantastic 👌

Facilities a little outdated and noise was a problem. We heard furniture being moved around from 6:30am.

I loved the whole look and feel of the property, the interiors are amazing and the feel of a Victorian Manor. I loved the fire place and the staff is do friendly

The road to the property requested a SUV or high car. Wish I had been warned ahead of time. I do drive a high car so this was not an issue. I also did not like that there was no soap in the room

All the meals we had were excellent, a nice variety. Well presented and ample, breakfast was plentiful.

The balcony outside our room was never swept during our stay; the rain gutters were overflowing with leaves, and we felt the grounds, ponds, and bridges on the walkways could all use a bit of maintenance and TLC. The cold tap for the bad leaked water onto the floor when filling the bath. Unfortunately (not the lodge's fault), we had a group of rowdy people during dinner. These same people kept opening and closing bedroom doors during the night and talking aloud when standing in the passage - all between 22h00 and 06h00. Damn nuisance.

Friendly staff, ideal location.

The atmosphere, food was brilliant and the staff was amazing.

The jucuzzi was too hot and could not adjust and there was no hot water in the morning when we wanted to shower

We really liked the property and the room was very comfortable.

Just the light outside our room was really hush throughout the night. I like to sleep in a dark room.

Staff were so attentive and just lovely We enjoyed the quietness of the gardens and the lush green lawns, The calmness followed us all the way home Breakfast was great ad nice options

It would've been nice to have block out curtains for sleeping in. The bed was hard for me

When it was quiet not all the facilities were made available. Once it was busy more facilities came out.

Everything was rather “old” in need of some maintenance and an upgrade No lighting above make-up mirror, plug cord too short. Exposed electrical wires everywhere, very ugly. Bathrobes old and worn.

The breakfast was excellent! The freshly baked pastries and home made preserves were scrumptious. The menu gives a wide selection of options. Hats off to all staff and chefs. The restaurant overlooks a tranquil garden and offers a warm ambiance at night.

The location is beautiful, serene and tranquil.

There is a large tree which hangs by the balcony it has wasps and we had to spray doom as we could not sit there fearing we would be stung. The waiter in the dining area could not advise as to the dinner menu as it hadn't been printed, we waiter an hour for him to get the printed menu. The bar staff also had to go looking for a cocktail menu. The bat area could do with some revamping. And a TV, pool/snooker table, darts

Location, Service and big room.

Have stayed many times before and the has building has deteriorated. Needs a paint, spider webs everywhere, bar area needs an upgrade (lounge, pool table, etc), TV in room way too small, doors need to be oiled, etc

Cleanliness/Quietness

WiFi keeps connecting/ disconnecting and dinner should also be included for that price. Outer lawns should be kept and there is no entertainment (pool/lawn games/ ping pong etc)- put a games room there.

The food and the menu only had like 3 options and they didn’t have variety of juices.

Every staff member made us very welcomed and special, you didn't need to ask for something, they were quick to notice if you need help and do it with passion 😀

In our room , the shower was not spraying water satisfactorily, it needs to be changed, and there were no shower caps

The bed u could feel the springs coming through the could not accommodate our request for a pillow topper to make bed comfortable we had to check out and leave . Furthermore you have to decide what you would like for dinner from there very selective choices by 5pm of that evening .

We had such a wonderful stay! From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive. The beautiful surprise in our room for our anniversary — with romantic décor, petals, and chocolates — was so special and truly appreciated. The food was absolutely top class, and our dinner set up under the tree with stunning lighting created the most magical atmosphere. The entire setting is peaceful and quiet — exactly what we needed for a relaxing break away. The spa back and neck massage was pure relaxation and the perfect way to unwind. Thank you for making our anniversary so memorable. What a magical place — we will definitely be back!

Facilities and the fact that the shops are not far.

The driveway was muddy and a little difficult to use. Because it was raining the whole week before we arrived.

It was a beautiful property with great staff and amazing food !

The road towards the property needs to be maintained , it’s a small patch but with rains can be difficult.

Breakfast was great. Staff are very helpful and attentive. It was cozy and quiet.

The path to take a walk was not clear. I like to take a short walk in nature but there were lots of overgrown bush so there was not clear path for this.

If possible, try and get a couple of activities in-house especially over the festive season given that the place is a bit isolated from major cities.

I suggest having a bar fridge in the room to keep drinking water and other food snacks cold and fresh.

Everything else was underwhelming and definitely not 5 star. More like a very average 3 star. From the coffee to the curtains and the presentation of the breakfast. Staff very friendly.

The chefs are outstanding. Such a pity they weren't given a decent menu to prepare. The staff tried hard.

Built as a classy establishment, but now clearly cash strapped, which shows in the cutback of menu options. The much vaunted swimming pool was filthy and the hotel mismanaged several power outages, although it has a power generator on site. The hotel management simply ignored several messages regarding our stay.

Location is great and staff were good.

Dated furniture. No towels, they arrived later at night. Due to the rain, the bathroom water was brown.

VERY FRIENDLY STAFF. I LOVED THAT WE HAD THE FULL DSTV CHANNELS IN THE BEDROOM AND COULD WATCH ANYTHING WE LIKE. THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD.

THE PASSAGE LINKING ROOMS 16, 17, ETC ON THE FIRST FLOOR IS MADE OF WOODEN PLANKS. SO IT BECAME NOISY IN THE NIGHT WHEN THE NEIGHBORS ARRIVED BETWEEN 01:00-02:00 AT THEIR ROOM, THE LOUD SHUTTING OF DOORS, AND IT SOUNDED EARLY MORNING AS IF IN THE DOWNSTAIRS LOUNGE THE PERSONNEL WERE MOVING FURNITURE ON THE WOODEN FLOORS CAUSING GREAT NOISE. WE DIDN'T PACK EXTRA SHAMPOO AND WERE UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT (LIKE THE WATER & COFFEE STATION) THESE WOULD BE REFILLED ON DAY 2 FOR THE NEXT NIGHT, BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT.
