The level of comfort and the courteous and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble and I slept very well in a cosy single room.

Good place to relax. Nice dining room and lounge. Excellent bathroom with instant hot water and a bath - filled quickly.

Woken by plumbing Moises more than once. Breakfast was unimaginative. Brown & white sliced bread. No croissants. Only 2 choices of commercial jam. Two choices of cereal. Stewed coffee.

Room comfortable, breakfast good. Lovely grounds. Staff friendly.

The ceiling was in a disastrous state in the bathroom, tiles were coming up, shower tray skirt hanging off.

The the area was nice the dining room is nice. The room was OK.

What’s disappointing in the bathroom there was holes in the floor in the bathroom from a leak on the shower tray so the floor bubbled up so it wasn’t good. Really there was a light above the bed that kept flickering.

Amazing host and family. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Katy and her parents who were perfect hosts and entertained us with their knowledge of the houses history. Thank you for sharing with us

Sehr nette Familienmitglieder betreiben dieses toll eingerichtete Landhaus am Rande von Hook. Die knarzenden Dielen erinnern bei jedem Schritt an das Alter des Hauses, aber Badewannen-Dusche und WLAN funktionieren einwandfrei. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist umfangreich.

They serve Pizzas in the evening, which was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style, lovely and hot. Again the staff couldn't do enough to help, constantly replenishing the food and topping up the coffee

The bathroom was a little outdated, the shower could have been better. Although the bed was extremely comfortable

Attended a wedding locally and did not arrive at hotel till 10.30 PM. Very friendly greeting. I am an early riser so they turned the hot water urn on at 6.00AM for me, great I was having my coffee at 6.15. ( partner still in bed so could not use drink facilities in bedroom ) Buffet breakfast was excellent.

Warm ontvangst door de gastvrouw. Na het betrekken van onze kamer bleek er lekkage te zijn na een dikke regenbui. We kregen vlot een nieuwe en grotere kamer aangeboden. Netjes! De pizza in de avond was lekker.

Het sanitair is gedateerd en het ontbijt viel erg tegen. Een soort ei (koud) en verder weinig keus en weinig vers. Ook geen fruit.

We arrived early in the day, and our check-in was brought forward. The room and bathroom were lovely. And breakfast was outstanding.

Terrible location next to busy main road. There’s bare carpet, wall paper peeling of walls, stained ceilings, dirty carpets, room was very small and whole hotel had a terrible musty, dank smell

We enjoy staying in period properties: it's one of the reasons we chose Hook house, as well as it's close location to a family event we were visiting. The staff were available when assistance was needed. The bedding and towels were clean; the bed was quite comfortable, though the mattress is giving out and needs replacing. Breakfast was okay with the full english cooked well, but cold within a short timeframe, and not topped up.

The property has not been decorated in many years, so is very shabby. The property needs a deep clean. It isn't acceptable to sit amongst grubby furniture and dusty and food stained surfaces at breakfast. I could have overlooked the old paintwork, but the fact that the place hasn't had good regular cleaning felt like the owners have fallen out of love with it and just can't be bothered. I didn't like seeing cobwebs around the windows and dead insects either, nor the grubby torn stair carpet. We stayed in one of the small roof space rooms, which in itself is attractively quirky. But, the damp stains and cracked plasterwork was horrid, as was the bodged repairs to the shower unit - the bathroom needs a total refurb. The furniture was old but not in a good way. We had to put the kettle on the floor for the cable to reach the socket. Unfortunately, I could go on and on ...... :( I've added photos to support my review, but they are not being included!

Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Eigentlich recht schmackvoll eingerichtet - jetzt deutlich in die Jahre gekommen. Wer Zimmer nach hinten raus hat, hat es schön ruhig.

Das Frühstück in Buffetform war eher traurig: lauwarm und lieblos. Das Haus hat seine besten Zeiten hinter sich.

Breakfast choices were below par, cleaning could be improved in the bathroom, and the rooms were generally in need of some modernisation.

Lovely building but bedroom was very shabby, ceiling paper coming off and mouldy bathroom ceiling, this was shame because our stay would have been perfect if these problems would have been addressed.

The breakfast was very nice ...... but rather surprised that there was no toast !

The property and its park is truly beautiful unfortunately the surrounding area far less so, a large unattractive shopping mall rather ruins the landscape, however it’s has nothing to with the house of course.

A very relaxed stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. Having dinner and a glass of wine in the lovely garden on a Summer's evening was definitely a bonus - the pizzas are freshly made and delicious. Buffet breakfast good and timeframe for serving meant not getting up too early. All in all a very pleasant and comfortable place to stay.

General decor could do with a bit of updating but this does not really detract from the overall positivity of the hotel.

Communal areas were dusty in places. Dead flies in the stairs window looked as if they had been there for several weeks. Bottom shelf of coffee station was thick with dust. Bed had two mattresses which were not the same size and the bottom one had torn cover. There was an odd piece of rough sawn wood about half metre long left leaning up against the radiator. On one level the facilities were good - but the overall experience was marred by poor management.

Very comfortable, the lady who ran the hotel was very friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast was good for a vegetarian x plenty of parking. Hotel was was peaceful and bed very comfortable x. Would happily stay there again.

It was the hottest day of the year so far, so our room on the top floor was a bit warm. But a good cooling fan was provided.

Great host’s, fantastic service, some of the best pizza I’ve ever had! And a beautiful house.

It was red hot in the room, not the houses fault it had been 32 degrees that day. And because it’s an old house the floors creaked like mad. But that just added character.

Lovely room, the towels neatly laid on the bed looked lovely, excellent breakfast and warm welcome.

The only problem was, with it being exceptionally hot weather, the room was hot. I don't think anything could be improved with this in such an ancient property - part of its charm.

I booked the King Size suite which had ample wardrobe and drawer space and ensuite. Tea/Coffee in rooms with different selection of teas.

We felt Hook House was a bit run down and dark. Breakfast was ok, help yourself and coffee in a flask. This is a dog friendly House which I didn't realise, we like dogs but not panting next to me while having our breakfast.

Breakfast was fine. Location was good and close to amenities that we needed and some attractions. Nice people as our hosts.

Plumbing terrible including shower, hand basin and toilet ..... probably original (1460 something). Stairs steep with no lift .... difficult for seventy year old guests.

Just what I wanted a quiet stay away from hustle and bustle. Made very welcomed.

Breakfast was nice. We liked the self service aspect. Room was fine, we were travelling from Gatwick, following our holiday. We arrived late, but had no problem accessing our room. Bed was comfy and shower large and easy to use.

Luggage wasn't easy to get upstairs. No lift. Might be a problem for those less able. A few minor things were broken around the room/hotel. No real problem, but need fixing
