Quite room , easy parking , breakfast lovely
Could not work the water heating had to call reception, unfortunately no good TV (sky etc)
There was not much that I liked but the fact that It has good bones and good location but it needs a major remodeling and renovation everywhere. Employee are nice and accommodating with what they have to work with.
Too many things to list that I didn’t like but here are a few . Completely outdated facility , bathroom in my room was a joke assuming that they are all like that ,moldy grout around bath tub and missing grout on the floor, stains on walls, spiders and spiders webs on the window , stained bed sheets that I got changed by the front desk employee, window that can only be open 1 inch because the rails are broken. Zoom on pictures so you a see ! restaurants and food is a disaster I felt like I was transported in the 90s , breakfast is bad ….I don’t understand why some people think it is good ?? all pastries are horrible, I could tell they buy everything so at least buy good stuff…. Scones are terrible ! We are in Ireland !! It isn’t difficult to make a good scone. This place is a disgrace for the hospitality industry, and this is unfair for the people that are working there . Ownership needs to invest in the place and bring it back quickly to an acceptable level so guest don’t have to experience this. They also need to invest in employee training , lots of them had no clue what they were doing although they have good intensions just no direction and leadership.
The rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent and all staff very helpful and courteous in particular a lovely lady called Alice.
Fabulous location, old world charm
Great location and view. White table cloths at breakfast. Great pool.
Location Breakfast
Cheap scuffed pine furniture in bedroom. Curtains sagging from rails, letting light in during the night. Minimal toiletries in bathroom. Charging Dublin prices for poor value.
Location
Nothing
Loved the views from the Hotel gorgeous 😍 Staff were very nice and friendly couldn't do enough for you even to the household staff so helpful and kind 😊
the staff were so friendly and helpful,
Stunning location but I missed out on room with a sea view which I thought I'd get by choosing a room with king bed
Thought some staff could be more engaging/friendly. Thought daily rate for B&B very expensive in absence of room with a sea view. Thought quality of cooked breakfast/presentation poor. Also a course my wife chose in dining room was tough & unattractively presented. Our bedroom had two lights not functioning which were brought to attention of hotel but not fixed until the next day. Hooks behind bathroom door at about 6 foot height- too high for use. Pull switch for light in vanity unit too high for some.
Great location for the green way. It was also very clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Pricey for B and B in July.
The ladies at breakfast were very nice rest of staff not friendly at all.
After having booked a king room with a sea view we were put at the side of the hotel over looking a dirt track and overflow car park room was a double room not king.. bar staff rude.. food just ok.. prices expensive
The location is incredible, with easy access to the Green Way, Achill, Clew Bay Newport and West Port. Room was ok, bed was very comfortable,
The hotel is tired and in need of a freshen up. In the rooms however they have these strange plug sockets in the rooms which are compatible with neither Irish/UK, European nor American plugs, which is very inconvenient
Beautiful room stunning location. Great breakfast
Nothing
Im a repeat visitor to this area and this hotel. A lovely hotel with good rooms/facilities and staffing. The views out from the veranda area are spectacular and if you stay this should definitely be enjoyed .. with a coke, wine or Guinness. It is a little highly priced but your personal decision on the location and the evening views will decide if its appropriate.
Location was perfect for break away! Cool breeze while sitting out front at hotel was fab!
Would have loved room with seaview!
Nice location
No air conditioning Rooms too hot
The setting was fantastic. We were so lucky with the weather and the views were great.
Nothing to dislike
It’s location is extraordinary with amazing views of Clew Bay
The staff are attentive and helpful but it feels like a 3star hotel masquerading as a four star one: it feels shabby and bare minimum. The rooms have kettle but you have to boil them on the floor because of the socket;not all the fixtures and fittings work, and there is a clutter design that makes do rather than enhances the mood or ambience of the public areas.
Very nice hotel in a fab location. Food was excellent Will return
Breakfast was lovely and staff very helpful and friendly in breakfast room
Bought drinks in bar and went up to room to have them as tables in bar were full of dirty dinner plates. Would have liked to have more drinks but looking at the dirty dinner plates was very off putting. Had stayed here before about 3 years ago and memory came back of same thing happening then - after meal in bar plates were left on the tables, no sign of them being cleared up. Not sure if its a policy to wait until guests clear out of the bar before the tables are cleared. Quilts on bed very heavy for time of year, room was quite warm and couldn't open window much.
The location is beautiful for views.
From arrival, the outside of the hotel certainly doesn't match the photos advertised. The hotel and grounds are extremely unkempt. If you didn't know better, it appears closed. Our room was spacious but not at all clean. The furniture apart from the bed was all scratched and the walls are very much in need of a paint. The bathroom again was nothing like advertised on this site. It was dark, dirty and the shower curtain was filthy. After requesting housekeeping to fix it on two separate trios to reception we were then moved to another room which was much better but again needs maintenance attention. The bathroom floor tiles some had no grout . The windows all need painting and upkeep to stop the letting draft in. There is a green carpet on the stairs to reception, which is absolutely disgusting it's so dirty and full of stains. The food is also very poor. For example the Chicken Tikka sandwich in the 4 star hotel is processed sandwich spread on poor quality white sliced pan.. Breakfast was a little better except everything except the tomatoes and eggs on the hot breakfast are deep-fried. The leasure facilities are dreadful. The poolmand jacuzzi appear dirty. The tiles in the whole place are again in dire need of cleaning , updating and maintenance is also needed . No handles or locks on most lockers. A disappointing stay. The Hotel needs a lot of work and cleaning. The staff are very friendly but unfortunately I do not know how this hotel has 4 stars and is charging the prices they are at present.
The location, staff were helpful and rooms were nice and big. Restaurant food was really good
The bar could be improved, Guinness was poor, bar food menu not great
I like the old Irish country house feel about this hotel, particularly in the dining room. The breakfasts were excellent. The spa was great. Wonderful view from the front.
The bed that was it
Few hairs in in bathroom booked a table for dinner said it was fine to book and they give it to someone else very bad service at dinner then and just overall poor service
We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and the hotel itself. It proved to be a relaxing and enjoyable stay, even if the weather was less than perfect. The staff were friendly, well-informed and the service and food in the restaurant were excellent. We also enjoyed the boat-trip on Clew Bay.
Nothing to comment on.
Had everything you needed
Access to getting lluggage in (no drop off area)
The pool, the bar food, the staff, the room the location.
the breakfast food ran out at around 10.00. The eggs were to hard at any time almost plastic.
They have one of the best locations in Ireland, but need to continue to modernise (in keeping with the historical quality of the building they are lucky to be the guardians of). Best Wishes, we will return soon.
Staff were just lovely.
Excellent location. Breakfast very good.
Room was a little warm and bed was a little firm.
The breakfast was good. The location is amazing for the beach & the Greenway. The hotel extremely comfortable.
As I am cycling around the coast of Ireland the hotel is at a great location for the greenway to Achill island and Westport. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly, my room was very good, the food and the local Mayo lager were excellent
Nothing
The views see amazing!
An odd smell in the room and no sockets beside the bed to charge your phone
Old world charm, classic Irish hospitality, comfort, reasonably good food, located above the dynamic tidal Clew Bay, views of the waxing and waning tides throughout the day from your window, sheep keeping the lawn trimmed, stunning hills and windswept North Atlantic shorelines of Achill Island a short drive away, Irish history abound in the nearby inland mountains... highly recommended for American seeking a place to escape from daily headlines. Great for
If one wants lots of nearby stores for shopping or same day Amazon deliveries, this is not the place. Otherwise, if only a few local pubs with mind-blowing marine-scapes needed, it is.
The views and friendly staff
Nothing
Homeland bar were lovely Breakfast was delicious Pool jacuzzi and sauna was lovely
Apartment was a bit cold and worn down looking Barmaid serving over dinner was a duty manager and appeared stressed and not very friendly
Comfortable cosy hotel with stunning views of clew bay. Conveniently the greenway is at the back of the property so very easy to access it and bikes to rent to cycle to Achill.
Excellent breakfast selection. View from tables is beautiful.
Loved our Stay Here Very Relaxing Staff were very pleasant & very chatty The view from our window was amazing loved the walk down to the beach though there us Alot if steps it didn't put us off It When we went back to the hotel the receptionist asked us did we want a coffee she came with a pot of coffee & a Muffin We drove up to keem beach next day where banshees of innisfree was shot was raining but still looked beautiful Will definitely be back
Views from the restaurant and from my room were excellent. Vegan breakfast was outstanding! Staff were all friendly and helpful, facilities included a superb pool, and the generous opening hours meant I was able to enjoy it despite an evening arrival. Room was very comfortable and fresh. Excellent hotel, I will be back soon.
Loved it! So cosy, food amazing & a fabulous evening spent in the pool/sauna
Breakfast very generous, staff super friendly, leisyre centre excellent
Room felt a little old, shower leaking onto floor
Lots of different areas to chill out in
A bottle of water for one glass of water costs £4,50; far more than a cup of coffee or a nonalcoholic drink
Great location, relaxed atmosphere and lovely friendly staff. Loved the open fires and couches beside them
While, there is a steam room, sauna etc. I didn’t like the layout as they are all around the swimming pool.. a thermal suite separate to the pool area is more relaxing and not as noisy
Location
Cushion covers weren't clean/smelled
Room size was fantastic.
Dining room was good..staff very competent.. breakfast a bit over cooked.. but having cream for my porridge wascwonderful
Excellent location. Lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff, clean comfortable room. Excellent service. Great food. Lovely views. Excellent base to explore achill island.
The bad weather was the only thing I didn't like. Only Got 1 good day. Couldn't fault the hotel or the location.
Restaurant
Ambience, accommodation and location
All great
Windows closed a bit easier
A beautiful setting
Lovely location So scenic
Friendly staff, clean hotel in a neat area with good views from our room. Food at the bar was very good as well with nice patio seating that overlooks the bay.
The Inn is beautiful! The only negative I have is the lack of air conditioning and /or ceiling fans in guest rooms. The windows are set up to open only about an inch. This does not allow for air flow. Very stuffy
Beach view
Poor staffing
