EKHO Sigiriya - 700 meters to Sigiriya Rock

This place is in incredible, made even better by exceptional staff. From the moment you check-in which is an experience I'm itselt we were made to feel extremely welcome. In particular both Wimoktha and Sandhu made out visit exceptional. They gave us so much information and were some generous and warm. We've met alot of people on our trip in Sri Lanka and these remain our favourite. They are both really incredible at their jobs. We also loved the swimming pool, and breakfast.

Sound proofing on the windows could be improved, only minor criticism.

Great location close to main hiking rocks, also walking distance from local restaurants. Nice to have a pool. Nice bar area. Breakfast had a good selection. Staff helpful in ordering early morning tuk tuk's for sunrise hikes. Nice pool area and sun loungers.

Points that could be adjusted for a better guest experience. Rooms all need updating and repainting, lots of stains on the walls. Old sheets with rips and ratty towels. Bathrooms need updating and thoroughly cleaning. Black mould on grouting in bathroom and on wall near aircon unit. Bed was two singles made into a double, but kept moving apart. Lots of flies all over the breakfast, I know you can't avoid flies but it could be covered a lot better particularly the pastries and fruit which were inedible due to the amount of flies all over them. Lots of things on the menu not available, e.g. wines, certain cocktails/spirits and food on the menu (no lettuce for salad). Staff lighting bonfires in the gardens next to the pool when guests using the pool area so is very smokey and breathing in smoke.

Ci siamo trovati bene in questa struttura, soprattutto per l’ottima posizione, perfetta per visitare la Lion Rock. Nei dintorni dell’hotel si trovano comodamente negozietti, supermercati e diversi centri dove fare massaggi ayurvedici: ne abbiamo provato uno proprio nelle vicinanze e ci siamo trovati molto bene. Avevamo scelto la mezza pensione, con colazione e cena incluse. La colazione era buona, mentre la cena a buffet è stata particolarmente piacevole, con una buona scelta e molto pesce preparato alla griglia. La cena all’aperto, accompagnata dalla musica dal vivo, rendeva l’atmosfera molto piacevole. La struttura dispone anche di una bella piscina, circondata dal verde e frequentata persino da alcune simpatiche scimmie. I lettini erano liberamente disponibili e il servizio bar è stato ottimo: abbiamo provato due cocktail, entrambi molto buoni. La camera era nel complesso confortevole e dotata di tutti i principali comfort, tra cui aria condizionata, ventilatore e frigorifero. Molto interessante anche la possibilità di acquistare un’esperienza extra in realtà aumentata che permette di vedere come doveva apparire la Rocca del Leone in passato: un’idea originale e divertente, che aiuta anche a immaginare meglio ciò che si vedrà durante la visita.

La camera era forse un po’ buia e il bagno avrebbe potuto essere più pulito, soprattutto per quanto riguarda il pavimento. Abbiamo inoltre sentito la mancanza di una zanzariera, che in una zona come questa sarebbe stata sicuramente utile. Gli asciugamani tutti sgualciti. Per il resto, il soggiorno è stato piacevole e la struttura ha rappresentato un’ottima base per visitare la zona di Sigiriya.

I would probably ask for a room away from the road at the back by the pool but that’s because we like it quiet. The rooms were well sound proofed though Thank you

Towels were worn out. Water pressure was very weak. Do not recommend eating dinner there - very expensive compared to other places and the food wasn’t so good. The pool was broken so we didn’t go in.. WiFi was not good

Zimmer war sehr schmutzig, hatten an der Wand viele Ameisen. In der Nacht war es sehr laut aufgrund dem Bellen von Hünden das man mehrmals erwacht ist. Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen..

The location is great. I loved the charm of the hotel and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The bed was super comfortable. The buffet breakfast was delicious.

The bathroom needs a serious deep clean. I don’t think the shower recess has had any type of cleaning for years.

Location was amazing, the warm welcome very much appreciated. The staff were super friendly the rooms large and spacious. We enjoyed the bar and pool area and the hotel is perfectly located for climbing Sigiriya Rock.

Only issue we had was we had a lot of ants in our bathroom and we asked to get them cleaned but had to ask twice. Obviously we understand when you're staying in nature bugs are part of the deal but it would have been good if this was sorted before we checked in or at least without us having to ask twice. Otherwise everything was lovely and clean and the staff incredibly helpful and friendly.

Zalig hoe alle plekken om te zitten open zijn, overal luchtig en licht. Fantastisch lief personeel, helpen constant indien nodig. Zeer lekker en uitgebreid ontbijtbuffet, mooie kamers met zalige bedden. Goede airco en fan, ook super om te lunchen en dineren. Heel dichtbij Lion's Rock! Daar ook safari geregeld naar Kaudulla met zeer goede gids. Top adres dus!!

היה פשוט מושלם, הצוות היה כלכך חברי, המיקום של המלון מצוין, ממש קרוב לכל האתרים שבסביבה. המלון עצמו מרגיש כמו פנינה נסתרת ביער, הבריכה מרהיבה והחדר מצויין ונוח, המיטות נוחות ומיזוג האוויר היה נהדר. הבריכה שממוקמת בין העצים ובין הצמחייה נותנת חוויה יוצאת דופן, מיטות השיזוף היו נוחות ונעימות. העיצוב הבריטי של המלון היה יפה מאוד ובאופן כללי כל סביבת המלון מטופחת ונקייה. ארוחת הבוקר הייתה מצויינת מגוונת משביעה וטעימה מאוד, הצוות של המלון ובמיוחד טיניש המקסימה עזרו בכל מה שהיה צריך כדי להפוך את השהות שלנו לנעימה יותר, המליצו לנו המלצות נכונות ואמיתיות לגבי הטיולים בסיגיריה ומסעדות סמוכות, קבלת הפנים למלון הייתה נהדרת וממש מרגשת. נהננו מכל רגע במלון. ממליץ בחום לכל מי שמעוניין לטייל בסיגיריה לשהות במלון הזה

Very close to Sigiriya Rock which is what we came to climb. Staff very welcoming. Security on the gate. Traditional Sri Lankan hotel. Live music each night we were there (only stayed 2) from 5 until 7.30 ish. Laundry service excellent and very cheap. Don’t be surprised if an elephant wanders past while giving a tourist a ride

Housekeeping didn’t top up the tea bags. My AirPods were left in an empty drawer so it took me ages to find them. The balcony is a shared patio with 4 other rooms. Can be a bit noisy. Came back at 10.30 pm and all the lights are off and the gate locked. Had to be let in by Security

Only the location is nice

Worst service no one was there to help us check in to our room, they only gave our room key to the security and we entered. Our room was absolutely disgusting, the corners of the room was full of insects and spider webs, and the bathroom was dirty. We booked for two nights, we tried to sleep but we kept waking up to the sounds of geckos and we saw 3 big ones in our room!! . We couldn’t continue our night in this hotel we tried calling them but no one answered and they didn’t even give us a number for emergencies, we had to leave the hotel at 3-4 AM. Luckily another hotel answered us and accomadated us at 4 am! I don’t recommend this hotel

Really nice hotel. Great pool to cool off in, nice restaurant and bar, and the staff were fantastic. Perfectly located to walk over to Sirigiya Rock Fortress.

It is close to Sigiriya entrance; although realistically you need a transportation (around 5 minutes). But upon exiting, you only need to cross the street.

Simplesmente uma linda estadia. Eu simplesmente foi super bem recebido do início ao fim! Cama e almofadas extremamente confortáveis, tudo muito limpo e organizado. Realmente me surpreendeu todas as instalações. Quero agradecer especialmente a Wimuktha e Nilakshi, eles sabem te receber com muita cordialidade e simpatia! Obrigado por tudo!

Property is slightly old and looks different from the photos. Pool also isn’t properly maintained. Not major however, would definitely come again!

Best thing is the location. Walking to the Sigiriya Rock. As that was the only site seeing we had planned there it worked out great. 10 minutes walk to the entrance and 5 minutes walk back from the exit. Courteous and friendly staff. Conti food was good

Small pool and smallish rooms. Staff was helpful and courteous but unlike larger hotels chains they don't seem to understand/or are comfortable with asks which may make them change their SOP.. Not a complaint but something they could work on.

This is a fantastic colonial style hotel with lovely rooms and a beautiful pool area amongst the trees. It’s in a great location within easy walk of the rock and also the village centre with many lovely restaurants.

Hygiëne in de kamer, badkamer kraan was half werkend en stroomde (ook na het douche lang door). Het hotel is over het algemeen veroudert en heeft echt een liefdevolle touch-up nodig.

De ligging en het personeel, heel hartelijk en welkom.

Het is allemaal net wat ouderwets en vervallen, op de foto’s zag het er wat beter uit. Het personeel en ontbijt maken alles goed.

Can't beat the location and the property was gorgeous. Staff were friendly and helpful. Delicious welcome drink and cool towel was welcome after arriving in the humidity. A la carte dinner was great, and the live music added to the ambiance.

Room could use a refresh/repainting, and no screens on the doors allowed bugs inside. Breakfast buffet was outside and food was not covered - lots of flies around the food. Shower took several minutes to get hot.

Really good customer care and service. All staff are super helpful and friendly especially Neelakshi, Vimukta, Dilshani. The barman served my friends really professionally and was meticulous with his drinks. The hotel has a pleasant atmosphere and the proximity to Sigriya rock was a plus

Kind and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, nice rustic pool surrounded by trees.

The only thing we didn't like was the hotel security guard insisting on managing the transport to the fortress in the morning, lying that it was far away, and completely gouging us on the price... but all part and parcel.

Rooms were slightly on the small size, if you want to open two suitcases. There are some low eaves/ceilings to negotiate it the breakfast area - managed to hit head every morning!

Nice hotel in a great location near Sigiriya Lion Rock. The pool was perfect to cool off in the heat of the day and had a nice view of the Rock. Staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive.

Room was on the small size without any views to the garden, although comfortable and clean.

My stay at EKHO was truly special. The staff and the team are incredible. Vimukta at the front desk was very sweet and very helpful. Anything we asked for, she went above and beyond to cater to us which really made the entire stay feel all the more welcoming One of the nights, we experienced AC problems and upon notifying the front desk, they immediately addressed the issue. The manager himself came to our room and apologised for the inconvenience and moved us to a better room. Honestly, I have high expectations for hospitality which their team delivered upon. Looking for a comfortable, warming and enjoyable stay - EKHO Sigiriya is that place

We were there for the bbq night for dinner, and somehow the food didn’t hit the spot.

An absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. The hotel facilities are excellent and very well maintained, creating a comfortable and relaxing environment. What truly stood out was the exceptional level of hospitality. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with anything needed. Upon arrival, I requested a room change, and this was handled smoothly without any issues — the operations manager was especially helpful and accommodating. The team also assisted in organizing excursions and transport at very competitive prices, which made planning activities effortless. The location is another major highlight. The hotel is within walking distance of the main tourist area, and being able to go for early morning or late afternoon walks and runs around the temple ruins was a genuinely magical experience. Throughout my stay, I was consistently impressed by the genuine care and professionalism of the team. Having travelled extensively and stayed in many high-quality hotels around the world, I can confidently say this was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had.

Great location, we could see Lion Rock from the garden and it's very close to the exit gate from Lion Rock. Staff were terrific. Big pool, looked amazing but we didn't get time for a swim. Good breakfast.

Run shower for 2 minutes before hot water comes through and bathroom flooded. I removed 2 handfuls of hair from the drain and there was still just as much down there when it suddenly cleared itself..After that I got to shower. Mosquito's in the room as window was left open. No cappuccino at breakfast. The room was not dark with outside lights on all night

The property is in a great central location, has a lovely pool and super friendly staff.

Fabulous stay, lovely staff, all so professional and kind and attentive. Dashintha was so helpful in helping to book activities and Nilakshi on reception helped facilitate requests smoothly and seamlessly. The place is a tropical haven. I extended my stay as I was enjoying relaxing in the comfort there!

I did a heap of research re where to stay in Sigiriya. I wanted somewhere with a nice environment, a pool and close to the village. EKHO ticked all my boxes and more. I loved the colonial heritage of the building, the room sizes were very generous and nicely designed, the pool was clean and shaded (yay for my pale skin), and the food was excellent. As like everywhere in Sri Lanka the staff were super delighful - always helpful and engaging. I was really pleased with this choice and would absolutely recommend it.

The location is outstanding, everything you could want is just a short stroll away, with fantastic bars and restaurants nearby (a special mention to Rasta Bar for its incredible atmosphere!) From the moment you arrive, the hotel envelops you in a profound sense of calm and tranquility. The setting is simply magical. While relaxing in the beautifully refreshing pool, you’re treated to a natural symphony.. monkeys rustling through the trees, exotic birds singing, and even chipmunks adding their own charming soundtrack. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. Our room was immaculate, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly comfortable. The bed was luxuriously cozy, and having our own private patio with direct access to the pool made the experience feel even more exclusive and indulgent. Although the hotel was only partially occupied, it felt wonderfully intimate.. almost like having a private villa with attentive, dedicated staff. Sigiriya itself offers so much to explore, which made returning to this peaceful haven even more special. The value for money is exceptional, and what truly sets this place apart is the genuinely warm and gracious staff. Their kindness and hospitality made our stay all the more memorable.
