Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Staff, location.
Terrible air conditioning policy. We spent five nights complaining of the warm temperatures in the room. The staff tried to defend the one temperature, maximum low for all guests policy. We were a group with 5 rooms and unknowingly all had the same complaint to no avail. They will argue some narrative but it’s un defendable that guests can’t be empowered to choose their preferred temperature.
The room and hotel were absolutely gorgeous. We had a two-story room with ocean views, and the location was perfect, surrounded by history and restaurants and situated right at the start of all the main attractions.
I had the most welcoming stay at the Ortea Palace Hotel. The location is ideal, a beautiful dining-bar reception space, my room was spacious with plenty of closet space, seating area with a table, mini-fridge, comfortable bed & pillows, nice bathroom (bathrobes, slippers too). Aside from the physical beauty of this hotel, all the staff here deliver excellent hospitality—the housekeeping staff throughly clean one’s room; the concierge staff are exceptionally helpful— Conchetta and Silvia, Grazie Mille; Federica and Sergio Grazie Mille for the most delicious and beautiful breakfast offerings and the best cappuccinos. This establishment shines because of the dedication, professionalism and welcoming staff along with the beauty of the hotel. When I return to Ortigia, I will stay here again because of my excellent first stay experience.

As returning guests and Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite members, we once again felt incredibly welcome at the Ortea Palace. Our one-night stay was a real pleasure from beginning to end. The day before our arrival, I contacted the hotel to ask whether we could already make use of the spa, as we would be arriving around noon and did not need our room before the regular check-in time. We were therefore particularly delighted that not only was our room already ready at 12:00, but we were also given a fantastic upgrade to the Garamond Junior Suite on the top floor. This is the only floor with private balconies, and the view from our suite was simply phenomenal — overlooking the harbour and the historic centre of Ortigia. It was a wonderful setting for such a short stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the Diptyque bathroom amenities were a lovely touch and of excellent quality. What we particularly appreciate about the Ortea Palace is its attention to detail. Even the Garamond Junior Suite has its own little story: a beautifully designed booklet is provided for guests to take with them, explaining special details and the background behind the Garamond room. It is exactly these thoughtful touches that make the stay feel personal and distinctive rather than simply luxurious. Breakfast was another highlight, with a very good selection and excellent quality. We also enjoyed returning to the hotel’s spa in the basement. The spa is beautifully designed and offers a large pool, a spacious sauna, a steam room where a salt scrub is provided, and a relaxing relaxation room. A swimming cap is required for use of the pool, but this is no inconvenience at all, as one is kindly provided at the spa reception if needed. The relaxation area is thoughtfully equipped with drinking water, a samovar with hot water and a selection of wellness teas to prepare yourself, as well as fresh apples — small details that make the experience even more enjoyable. One of the things that makes the Ortea Palace particularly special is the hotel itself. The architecture, design and impressive artworks throughout the property make simply walking through the hotel a visual pleasure. We also really enjoyed the hotel’s welcome ritual: a delicious lemon granita-style drink, referred to here as Sherbet. A small but very refreshing and memorable touch. Once again, the Ortea Palace delivered a wonderful experience. We felt genuinely welcomed and very much at home, and we will be very happy to return on our next visit to Ortigia.
Posizione eccellente e pulizia
We are deeply disappointed by how Ortigia Sea Palace handled our stay. At check-in, we discovered that we accidentally booked 2 rooms because of a poor internet connection while doing the booking ; it was our mistake and explained the error immediately. We were occupying one room, had no intention of using a second room, and were simply asking the hotel to help us find a reasonable solution. They refused. Completely. We weren’t even demanding a full refund. We asked about a partial refund, future stay credit, dining or spa credit, a room upgrade - any gesture of goodwill whatsoever. Expedia/Chase reserve even contacted the hotel directly on our behalf, and the hotel still refused everything. We dealt with Anna, Caterina, and Silvia at reception. Our check in process was completely cold. Anna, the front desk manager, was unfortunately the worst part of the experience; she was unnecessarily rude, aggressive, and unhelpful. We emailed the hotel reservations team but they also ignored us. Then, despite booking through Chase Reserve with breakfast included, the following morning we were told breakfast was not included. On top of everything else, the air conditioning in our room wasn’t functioning properly. Mistakes often happen when traveling. What turned that mistake into such an upsetting experience was the hotel’s astonishing lack of empathy, flexibility, or even the smallest, tiniest, gesture of goodwill. I would highly suggest all guests to stay elsewhere. You’ll certainly get more value and better treatment for it. After exploring Ortigia, Grand Hôtel des Etrangers, Algila’Ortigia or Palazzo Artemide are way better hotels.
Greta location at the middle of Ortigia and hotel heritage
Rooms rather small for the cost charged.
Room Size was good and location was excellent
Air conditioning wasn’t work well in the room, in the lobby it was non- existent. We were there at a very hot time and part of the stay were pretty unbearable
Staff beyond incredible. I fell and needed crutches. They treated me like family. The facilities were extraordinary. Location too. I will recommend this hotel to anyone who’s going to Sicily and say they should go to Siracusa just to stay there. I’ve traveled the world and stayed in some of the nicest hotels. This is the best I’ve ever stayed in.
Nothing I didn’t like.
Great location. High ceilings. Multiple bathrooms
Location and comfort
Two small criticisms. The restaurant/bar is somewhat soulless. Our shower was discoloured and leaked badly.
Bravo

A truly beautiful hotel, perfectly situated in Ortigia. The imposing architecture of what was originally a post office is stunning and Ortea Palace has magnificent presence in this ancient town as a result. Once inside, the welcome is warm, friendly and professional. Our check-in was made to feel personal and the team member who checked us in, showed us to our room. Our sea view, duplex suite was magnificent. It was spacious, well designed and immaculate, with all the amenities you could possibly need. Breakfast was a combination of a beautifully presented buffet, with additional al-a carte items on offer. The staff team could not have been more welcoming, attentive , professional and kind. They absolutely cared about our experience. Something the restaurant Manageress said to me when I asked for some fresh milk for tea in our room “You’re at home … Of course I can bring you fresh milk”. That response captures the culture of the people at Ortea Palace. We used the spa 3 times during our week long stay and found it to be a relaxing space with a good size pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The staff here are also welcoming and obliging. We travel frequently worldwide and no 5 star hotel we have stayed in has quite matched Ortea Palace. The hotel is stunningly beautiful inside and out and so are the people.
It’s was a very nice facility and the location was good
The stairs in the room. Too much up and down and if you’re going to have 2 levels put a TV in both. I didn’t like finding out the addition fees were 30% on top of the price quoted. I should have been told that before selecting the hotel. 5% 10% I don’t mind but when the final bill is 30% higher that bothers me. Also at a 5 star hotel I expect someone to greet me when I pull up the car and no one ever did each time.
Well placed, easy car parking in front, good breakfast
The location was perfect. The views were magnificent from the higher floors. The staff were so friendly
Some rooms were a bit dark and not very welcoming.
Beautiful hotel and great location. Unfortunately the ac units in all the rooms of the hotel are insufficient to cool the room. You will be hot at night trying to sleep. Also the lobby ac is out so not even breakfast is comfortable.
Location, room, breakfast
This was honestly one of those stays that just sticks with you, from the moment we arrived everything felt easy, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming. The hotel itself is stunning , a former post office that’s been beautifully restored, with so many original features still intact, high ceilings, grand spaces, but still very comfortable and not overdone. We were lucky enough (Titanium status definitely helped here) to be upgraded to a duplex suite with a sea view – and it really made the stay feel special. Waking up to that view each morning was something else. At check-in, Caterina looked after us,she was incredibly warm and friendly, took the time to explain the town, gave a few recommendations, and just made us feel at home straight away, not rushed, not scripted, just genuinely nice. Location-wise, you couldn’t ask for better, right in Ortigia, and everything is within walking distance – restaurants, little streets, the waterfront – all just a short stroll away. Breakfast each morning was a highlight – a mix of buffet and à la carte – fresh pastries, great coffee, and plenty of choice without it feeling overwhelming. You could take your time with it. We also had dinner one evening in the main restaurant – and it ended up being one of our favourite meals of the trip. Francesco, who looked after us, was excellent – really knowledgeable about the wine, very personable, and what stood out was how he remembered and greeted us by name every time we crossed paths afterwards – a small thing, but it makes a difference. Across the board, the staff were fantastic, friendly, attentive, but never overbearing, just a really nice balance. All in all, probably the top hotel on the island, and somewhere we’d happily return to.
I still dream of our beautiful, well-appointed suite with huge balcony overlooking the sea, boats and stunning Ortigia. The hotel is top-notch---5 star quality, fabulous staff, lovely amenities, plus a scrumptious and extensive breakfast in the grand lobby. We loved every minute of our five nights. It's in a great location, steps away from the market, the bridges to Siracusa mainland, and so many amazing restaurants. Counting the days until we return!

Our stay did not start out well, but it did improve. At check-in we were upgraded due to my Platinum status with Marriott to one of their duplex suites. On paper, they seemed nice, but the layout was very awkward and made it hard to figure out where to put your things. In addition, the shower was filthy. Lastly, we noticed the room was very warm and were told the AC was broken and they were “working on it.” It never came on during our 3 night stay… Here’s where things improved- I asked Silva at the front desk if there were any other rooms all on one level. She was very kind and gave us an additional upgrade to a larger corner suite with a wraparound balcony with sliding doors on both sides. Honestly, if it weren’t for that room change we might have left early for a place with functioning AC. I imagine the guests in rooms without a balcony were roasting! We ended up loving the breeze with the doors open at night and it actually enabled us to sleep well. A few other pros: great in-room amenities. They thought of every toiletry you could need and had lovely lotions. Housekeeping also did a great job. Lastly, every staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location. A couple other cons to keep in mind: the bar and dining area is very subdued and a little stuffy. We have stayed at many 5* hotels that manage to be upscale, while still being a comfortable place to relax and have a drink at the end of the day. Ortea didn’t quite manage that, despite the friendly bartender. You also had to make a reservation to use the indoor pool and saunas. We tried it once and didn’t go back because who wants to make an appointment for a 30 minute dip? Overall a beautiful hotel with a few misses that others may not care about. Ortigia in general is a stunning place and I’m glad we visited.
We chose the hotel because of its location and it is the perfect place to explore Ortigia and Siracusa Wonderful ambience with a stunning ground floor area The buffet breakfast was excellent with literally every taste catered for Marriott should be extremely proud of the exceptional level of service Without exception all staff were charming, well skilled and could not do enough to ensure we were well looked after. Having spent my career in hospitality, I can truly say from reception to housekeeping, porters to wait staff we were thoroughly impressed Siracusa is a fabulous place to holiday with Ortea Palace the jewel in the crown!
Everything about the Ortea Palace Hotel is absolutely 5 star world class and extraordinary...location, architecture, service, restaurant, room service, bar and spa. I was particularly struck by the tremendous warmth, knowledge and helpfulness of the concierge service, the overall excellent service.... and by the Michelin level artistry of the chef and his kitchen. Salvatore and his staff are at the top of the culinary ladder, yet the cuisine remains true to its fresh local Sicilian roots. If you don't see it on the menu, talk to the staff or the chef, they will create it for you. As to the structure itself: It is a beautiful Art Nouveau building that was turned from the local post office into a modern sleek marble and glass boutique hotel situated directly on the harbor. If you're looking for a huge resort with four restaurants, and two swimming pools, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for incredible service and food with huge two story rooms, fabulous service and exquisite food in the heart of the most beautiful and picturesque (not completely overrun by thousands of tourists) island town in Sicily, you have found your home.
I’ve been to a lot of 4, and 5 star hotels in my lifetime. This is the best of them all. It’s personal touch, everywhere. It’s dining so your heart sings. Please, please have their local bio lemonade, and some steak / veal option, local too. It’s absolutely divine - and beats all Michelin restaurants I’ve visited (4). Of course there’s no “experience” attached to it, but it’s the best quality of food, especially the meat, olive oil and lemon oil, I’ve ever had. Italy knows food. Sicily knows how to cook and grow food. Ortigia and the Ortea palace hotel knows how to combine the best from that. Spacious beds, affordable luxury in the suites. Handwritten notes and a balcony. Great coffee, order breakfast to the room for even more awesome tastes of Sicily. And the staff are curious, discreet, nice but not overly attentive. Everything is replenished and clean/ed when you leave the room - quietly, no noise. Amazing beds, surprisingly tasteful interior, comfy and beautiful. Wall to wall cooling marble floors, I just want to stay on the hotel for all of the days here to be honest. I can see Ortigia from the balcony! No, it’s really a place to go to relaxation, quiet rooms, excellent air conditioning -you choose your own temperature hot or cold, and every high quality amenity you can ask for. Delicious fruit welcomes you, tasty little treats waiting in early afternoon, spacious bathtub, and a place you can just unwind when tired or too busy. The best part is that you’re not buggered by butlers and concierges and everything in between. If we relax any more, we’ll melt. Definitely going back for a hot, romantic vacation. For a business trip it’s almost heaven. Do the suite. I beg of you. Best thing you’ll ever grant yourself. So much better than Paris, New York etc. wonderful. Helpful staff for everything you need advice on.
I’ve always given honest reviews and this hotel doesn’t have a single fault. We have just returned from a couples trip for 4 nights 5 days. Room We had a double room which was very spacious, all the towels you could possibly want, dressing gown, slippers and even flip flops and hat for the pool. Toiletries included mouthwash and hand lotion which was a lovely touch, Chargeable mini bar but was space in the fridge to add water and drink we had bought in the shop. Coffee and tea making facilities in the room, the tea was lovely with 3 different options, however I was disappointed it was Nescafé coffee sachets in the room, I expected a coffee machine or something nicer. The bed was extremely comfy and USB charging ports next to the bed. I did have to get ready in the bathroom as there was a table and chairs in the room but no getting ready station. Spa Bella!!!!! The best way to relax after a long day exploring. You do have to wear a cap in the pool but that didn’t matter to us. Massive sauna and steam room. What let it down was there was loose tiles been put on the idea of the pool and there was plasters on the side also that were there for the length of our stay. Other than that is lovely. I did look at a massage but it was 90 euros for 30 mins so didn’t bother with that. Service Honestly couldn’t fault the staff. Absolutely incredible, the lovely blonde hair and glasses lady that checked us in and out, the red haired lady that looked after us at breakfast and everyone was just amazing. Nothing too big or small, friendly, helpful and faultless. There was a lovely little arrival every evening of water and homemade sweets delivered to our door. Breakfast Yummmmmmmmy!! So much to choose from as well as a separate menu to have. Highly recommend a cappuccino, granita lemon and French toast! The yoghurt pots were my fav I wish I could have brought some home. Location Ortigia is amazing to explore and has some lovely food places. Siracusa the national park where the amphitheater is and ear of dionisio is 100% worth a visit but that’s all we found. The coast is beautiful. Direct parking outside the hotel in the blue lines which you book through the easypark app and cost us about 15 euros a day max. The hotel offer a valet service in their underground parking but this is 50 euros a day. All in all an amazing trip and worth every penny to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Would love to say we will be back every year (price rises depending)
Le spa et le sens du service
Rien
Sadly this was a hotel that did not deliver. While our room was big, double aspect and quiet, it smelled badly and the bathrooms were tiny. We were offered an alternative but chose to stay and manage the smell ( via open windows/air con). Despite reporting it nothing was done! The hotel had only one functioning lift and only one of the eating venues was functioning and then only on a part-time basis. A good breakfast (but at a ludicrous 50 euros a person) was served in the main reception room, but it was hardly used for lunch/dinner and the bar (in the same big room) was practically empty most nights. As a consequence the hotel lacked atmosphere as a "place to go" for food, drink etc and traversing this largely empty but staffed room day after day was rather depressing. The so called museum of curiosities was a room trying to recall former post office days but really a waste of time/space, the piano was never played. The front desk was fine but often understaffed with guests waiting considerable time to get served. Staff were pretty good generally but there was no sense of management. All in all it was an expensive disappointment and one not to be repeated.
If you are staying in Ortigia, stay here. The hotel is elegant and classy, yet the staff remains friendly and completely unpretentious. The breakfast is truly incredible. If you can, splurge for the 3rd-floor suite rooms with a balcony—it is well worth it!
Enjoyed a fabulous break at the hotel recently Beautiful building, with wonderful staff and service I can’t wait to return Thank you all
The room was nicest I have stayed in anywhere--two story loft with high ceilings. Tile floors, glass stairways. Spacious, elegant and sumptuous.
Central and very clean
Hotel was quite empty The cost quoted for upgrade to room with a view was quite high
Bath tub and Marble floor
There is NO SEA VIEW even though I paid for it. Only 2 floor of rooms. Breakfast next to reception. NO Rooftop. If on number 1 floor you can hear cars and people.
Hotel is pretty good with the exception of steffano at the spa who is very incompetent, rude and miserable
Great property and the food at the hotel was exceptional. We really enjoyed our stay
Beautiful hotel in great location on Ortiga, which is charming & full of lovely restaurants & cafés. Helpful & kind employees, particularly Melania at the front desk. As a Marriott Bonvoy titanium member, we received a very nice upgrade to a spacious duplex. Impeccable housekeeping. Our only complaint was that the climate in the hotel was too humid & particularly the bedroom area in our duplex was too warm, even after the heat was turned off. We needed to have the windows open day & night. Melania supplied us with a fan, which helped somewhat. No one seemed able to remedy this technical issue. Could it be due to the exceedingly hot, humid climate in the spa & exceedingly warm temperature in the swimming pool, located in the basement of the hotel, which permeates the entire building? It would make sense to address this issue. We were also sorry that the rooftop terrace wasn’t open yet, because the weather would have been perfect for that!
First class hotel with a convenient location. Wonderful professional staff.
Nothing

Style, location, room size
The location is quite convenient and easy access to the entire city. Staff was very friendly and took pride in their work.
The fitness center ran out of towels, apples, and water, and the bar area was typically deserted and hard to get a drink or service at times. Yet, I appreciate that there was a fitness center at all, so overall it was a positive experience. I also wish water were more readily available for guests.
Amazing location, luxurious accommodation
The Italian restaurant. Breakfast very good and service as well Location
Nobody at the reception and not “welcoming people . Had to wait every time we arrived. We paid for the parking every day and last morning went for a walk (before 9am) and wanted to charge the full day parking as well. The room was quite small with two little windows. We tried to change but didn’t give us the option to change but in spite of not being full
Exceptional. Excellent location. Concetta was very helpful.

The property has a rich history being the Syracuse post office in the past. The architecture - from the lobby to the room is something to be admired. We deployed the Nightly Upgrade Award voucher and was upgraded to the amazing signature top floor suite. The suite was nicely furbished featuring an almost 180 degrees sea view from the living room to the bedroom. The marble washroom also nicely infused with the rich history of the hotel. Breakfast was of high quality with an extensive buffet spread and an a la carte menu. Service at the hotel was very attentive as well. We also tried out the famous pool, while the pool temperature was on the rather cold side, the pool decor was worth a visit. Overall an amazing stay, would definitely recommend if you visit Sicily!
A very imposing building right at the entrance to the Ortiga peninsula giving it an excellent location for access to all the historic sights of this unique spot. Views from the windows were very entertaining. A great feature for those arriving by car is the enormous, and reasonably priced, public car-park right outside the hotel. Breakfast was varied and plentiful
Nothing worth mentioning
The Ortea Palace is a lovely luxury hotel perfectly located at the waterside in Ortigia. Upon entering, one is impressed with the monumental, historic lobby where a deliscious breakfast is served. The rooms are spacious, clean and beautifully appointed with great beds, comfy linens and high quality toiletries. Leaving the best for last- the service is warm and impeccable. The front desk staff and concierge took every chance to enhance our stay with warm greetings, great restaurant reservations and fabulous tours. I highly recommend a stay at The Ortea for a very special vacation and recommend you treat yourself with a harbour view room.
From the moment you drive to Ortigia, Ortea Palace is what you first notice. It has an amazing atmosphere and beautiful decorations. Everything about our stay was great. Huge thank you to Mrs Patrizia and Anna for setting everything up for us. Our Suite was very spacious, with a beautiful view to wake up to and great amenities. The breakfast was great, with fantastic choices and good service (Federica and Serena). . Thanks to Sylvia for promptly handling our phone requests, to Paola (bar). The pool was fantastic. Would love to come back
Was here for our honeymoon and our favorite hotel by far. Front desk staff were incredibly helpful as we navigated Syracuse and Ortigia.
The location was excellent, staff were good and friendly
The room was clean, however it is obvious clever photography used in adverts, sitting area is much smaller than presented in photographs at booking. There was no heating and the room was uncomfortably cold in mid/late November. There was no coffee with tea tray, only expresso pods. There was no soap in the upstairs watercloset. To pay c£650 for one night for a room with above issues which was to help celebrate out vow renewal is not value for money, especially as it didn't include breakfast. Also we requested early checking and despite numerous emails the response stating that they would advise accordingly only arrived late the night before our stay, we still wait the advice. All in all it was very disappointing. As much as we loved Syracuse and ortigua and will return, I would not return to or recommend the hotel.
It is really nice in every way, room very well organised, service perfect, staff friendly, many extra perks.
Bar was surprisingly empty all the time and there was no extra loo paper.
A Truly Luxurious Stay at Ortea Palace Hotel, Sicily From the very first step we took into Ortea Palace Hotel, we were swept away by its atmosphere of refined luxury and impeccable design. The grand architecture, elegant interiors, and attention to detail created a sense of timeless sophistication that set the tone for our entire stay. The staff were outstanding—professional, genuinely kind, and always ready to assist with a warm smile. Their attentiveness made us feel truly welcome and well cared for throughout our visit. Our suite was spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully appointed, with a breathtaking view that made every morning feel special. The comfort and tranquility of the room were unmatched. Breakfast was an absolute highlight: an extraordinary selection of high-quality food served in a stunning environment. From fresh pastries to local delicacies, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We left feeling completely rejuvenated and already dreaming of our return. Ortea Palace is not just a hotel—it’s an experience. We are definitely coming back.
Beautiful heritage property!
Overall wonderful few days in Sicily. The entire staff was a joy including Serena Jovani and all the hostesses, Anna at the front desk and the massage staff. Housekeeping was next level every day and you can’t beat the view and options for dinner right up the street. We will be back!!! Thank you!!
Location and service
Price of roof top average food and drink
The Ortea Palace is a gorgous hotel in a great location. We are long time Marriott Bonvoy members. We are lifetime gold members (some years we stay enough for Platinum). We used points for our stay and booked a room requiring the least amount of points. At check in we found out that we were upgraded to an awesome duplex suite. Front desk staff could not have been more helpful. Our room was fantastic. The hotel lobby is gorgous. The pool is beautiful but not heated enough for me to enjoy. Location is great for exploring the town.
This hotel was the very best we visited during our whole Sicily round trip. Hotel staff was so friendly, from checkin, restaurant and house keeping. It is in a old building being a former post office. Check out the roof top which has gorgeous views
Great Location! Delicious Breakfast! The hotel staff are a solid 10 out of 10! Extremely kind and genuinely polite! They couldn’t have been nicer.
Although the room size is okay, it feels cramped. The curtains are all scratched and have pulled threads. The bathroom stinks… there’s no ventilation at all, so the smell of plumbing, mold, and dampness just hangs in the air. It was honestly really unpleasant. The shower door is a mess too! It doesn’t close properly, and every time you take a shower, you end up soaking the entire bathroom floor.
excellent two story room. Great breakfast. Location was perfect for old Siracusa. Walked everywhere we wanted to be at.
Beautiful hotel close to everything but away from the crowd. Staff was great. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and great cappuccinos.
Despite the Hotel is in a beutifull location.,the building is amazing, rooms are old and tired. Even being a duplex . First floor is old, bedroom in second floor , renovated. A mixture of floors inside the room. Breakfast is not compatible with the price of the hotel. Reception people very nice at the check in But when we have a problem, the hotel was inflexible. The father of my daugther in law had a stroke and we had to live earlier. Problem explained but no wish to help us on refunding us for one nigth each room. I tried BOOKING and send an email BUT no response as well.
Hotel needs to renovate the rooms
Everything is excellent, except the shower which is very small and uncomfortable which makes it impossible to enjoy the bath.
I need my receipt
Great convenient location in ortigia. Short walk to all you need. Unique hotel with a rich history. Personable and helpful staff.
Spent a fabulous week at the Ortea Palace Hotel. It's a beautiful hotel and the Futura Deluxe room was worth splashing out on. The Hotel staff are very welcoming and a special shout out to Arianna and the breakfast crew for their dedication and a lovely birthday cake ! Ideally located for exploring Syracuse and Ortigia and within walking distance (15mins) of the bus and train stations. Can't fault it, would love to return one day.
I travel a lot and this is one of the nicest hotels that I ever have visited. It is a Marriott property which may be helpful to anyone who wants to travel on points. My husband and I stayed three nights and cannot wait to go back. The property is top notch with a beautiful lobby and bar area. The breakfasts are extensive and delicious. The location cannot be beat with its easy walks to shopping and dining. The best part of the hotel is its staff. They always take extra steps to provide service and guidance. Sylvia and the reception/concierge desk helped us during a medical issue. She found an English-speaking physician, worked with the doctor’s office to see me immediately and arranged for our transportation. She also checked with us to see how we were doing after the doctor visit. She made a stressful situation go as well as possible. The dining staff at breakfast and dinner and the barman and housekeeping all were welcoming and could not have done a single thing to make our visit better. We wound up having to shorten our trip to Sicily but are so thankful that the days we had there were spent at the Ortea Palace. I would return there in a heartbeat. Pay the extra money for a room with a view. Waking up to a view of the marina is stunning!
Great location and very friendly staff
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff went above and beyond - wonderful people who truly cared about the guest experience. Historic building and truly lovely to explore.
