We had a perfect experience! First of all, the location simply couldn’t be better: waking up in the morning to the beautiful blue sea, enjoying the nightlife of the gorgeous old harbor, with all the restaurants and entertainment just a few steps away. We booked room B6, which is larger than average, and were given a beautiful, huge, stylish and comfortable room. Simply perfect! The breakfasts were elegant and beautifully presented, and everything was clean and beautifully designed. And the highlight of all: the amazing hotel staff. Everyone was professional and caring. They went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and had everything we needed. I would especially like to mention Anita and Angie and thank them once again. There is no doubt that we will return to this hotel!
Great location and view, good room size with tasteful decor
The bathroom in our suite was awful. Poorly done, water leaked everywhere and had caused flooring to become warped and sticking up dangerously. There was nowhere to put any bathroom products, towels etc, and nowhere to get ready. Other things were cheap, like the tissues and loo roll were industrial 1* quality. The sofas were also cheap quality and uncomfortable. The space and the view were very good however, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was buffet style and again, something you’d expect in a low-cost B&B. Extremely poor compared to other properties in Chania town that we’ve stayed in over the years.

Very central location, cute hotel clean and modern
Hôtel idéalement situé, en plein cœur du centre ville, hôtel très propre, petit déjeuner parfait, personnel très agréable

From the very many hotels I stay in every year, this is by far my preferred room. Lean yet cozy design, spacious and well equipped and the most amazing view, you can see the lighthouse from the (very comfortable) bed. The hotel is very small, so no real infrastructure, but in the perfect spot in the old town above the harbor, so all bars and restaurants just a few steps away. Lovely team, good breakfast and just an overall feeling of calm and beauty.
It's a bit pricy, but worth every cent!
Location, vie, comfort
very good location, right next to the waterfront. nice beech decorations
The hotel is off any street, with no automobile access. The nearest automobile access is two blocks away. So it's quite inconvenient to carry many and heavy luggage to/away from this hotel. The bathroom is little too dark. It's better to let customers to have option of much brighter lighting.
Great location, very clean, friendly staff.
Pillows were a bit hard and we would have liked an iron in the room.
Staff, Anita went above and beyond she is wonderful!!! Answered every question and gave great recommendations & truly went out of her way for us. Ada was wonderful and willing to help with everything.
Nothing, it was amazing!
The staff and the location were amazing. The room is beautiful and cosy with beautiful lighting.
The stairs to the first floor are a bit challenging
This place is excellent. The only minor quibbles would be the standard ones these days, namely the bathroom has a glass door which sounded like it was going to break any second, and the bathroom wall is also opaque so that privacy is not exactly 100% and also if you need to visit the bathroom at night, you wake up people trying to sleep. Also the bathroom door was not exactly insulated, so you get to enjoy the sounds emanating from the bathroom. Otherwise an excellent hotel.
Very nice location and very beautiful old historic building
Everything was perfect.
Perfect stay!
This was one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. It is perfectly in the center of Chania old town. The staff was so friendly! We were so sad to leave. We will be coming again!!!
The hotel is located at the heart of the old harbour, but very quiet and super cozy. Breakfast was amazing, the room was beautifully decorated, clean and spacious.
Great location. Helpful staff.
Great location with a balcony overlooking the harbour Great atmosphere extremely central Highly recommended
Habitación y hotel maravillosos! Personal muy agradable y amoroso, nos sentimos como en casa. Vistas inmejorables.
Great location and well maintained hotel with helpful staff.
Excellent
Perfect location, very friendly staff, great breakfast
Walk from parking but not too bad.
Great hotel in the heart of Chania Old port.
Anita and Hotel Manager provided excellent service
Amazing location, warm staff, fresh and modern rooms and amenities.
In 30 years of traveling, this was the most accommodating hotel I have ever stayed at. 10/10 all around. There were two women in particular, I wished I had their names, but they attended to every detail of my stay. If they are reading this, thanks again from Ohio!
The hotel is beautiful and it's position on the old port is perfect - however the best thing about it is the amazing staff. Ada was fantastic and all the others too, the girl with the glasses (sorry I don't remember her name) was especially sweet. The staff really contributed to making our stay at the hotel and Crete so memorable.
Perfect location, with view on the ocean and the lighthouse, and on the backside one of the prettiest little alleys. Absolutely beautiful room with great lighting, a strong shower and high quality of linen, towels etc. Free water every day and a well filled minibarm, which is rare these days. As soon as I can, I will go back.
Couldn't have been better.
Muy bonito y bien ubicado. Solo que el aire de la habitación nunca enfriaba, las almohadas eran feas y cero cómodas. En nuestra opinión.
The location and the people in the hotel made for a perfect, relaxed time in the relaxing city of Chania. Our room was lovely, the breakfasts were perfect, and the desk staff (Christina, Anita) were very helpful in all ways, as were the rest of the staff. We would highly recommend this choice for your visit to Crete.
Staff was super helpful and nice. Location could not have been better and the breakfast was wonderful. Enjoyed our stay in Chania!
Room was very nice but it was next to the breakfast area which was a just a little noisy in the morning so maybe a higher floor would have been better.
We stayed 5 nights at Scala de Faro last week and loved it. Apart from the fantastic location, right in the middle of the old town, the highlight was the staff of the hotel. The receptionists Christina and Anita were fantastic... always smiling and extremely helpful, and also Anna the breakfast lady and Rena the housekeeping lady were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts were just great, with the most delicious freshly squeezed orange juice I have ever tasted. The rooms were spacious and well appointed ( although the bathroom handbasin was a bit "unusual!!!") . The location is amazing...right in the middle of the old town, with literally dozens of restaurants within a stone's throw. All in all a hotel to be highly recommended. Thank you ladies!!!
Great location!!!
Stairs…but staff was very helpful
Amazing place and staff are fantastic especially Christina
good location for walking and connecting to activitiew. as well as excellent service. Cristina M was absolutely wonderful, helpful, and kind. the breakfast was nice and the rooms were clean and well designed. i would reccomend this to anyone going through Chania. be sure to
The hotel is in a great location with beautiful views. The staff, especially Christina, were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good with lots of options. A few things that should be improved- there is no place to store clothes. The sink in room 8C is cool looking but not practical. Takes up a lot of space and the water is a trickle. The hotel should invest in a golf cart to transport luggage since cars can’t get close. But overall enjoyed our stay!
People are the difference and the staff was exceptional, my partner forgot a sweatshirt and the staff notified us and had it shipped to the next town the same day. We appreciate the service, pleasant and helpful staff, and the location was in the heart of the areas we wanted to be. Thanks again for making it Great:-)
Beautifully decorated in the heart of the old port The room is spacious and the breakfast delicious. The staff is super helpful and provided ideas for excursions, restaurants and activities
The friendly and helpful staff are a real asset to the hotel. No matter the issue they do their best to solve it. Add the great location in the heart of the old town, the stunning view on the Venetian harbour, the spacious rooms equipped with high-quality products and you would know why it is a perfect choice.
Rooms are very clean and organized. Breakfast was delicious and the ladies serving always had a smile and a friendly good morning greeting. Perfect location in old Chania with a fantastic view seaside or street side. The entire staff was extremely helpful with getting taxi’s and transfers, suggesting sights and activities, and suggesting restaurants. Christina at the front desk is a very special young woman and definitely an asset to SCALA De Faro. This is where I’ll stay when I return.
It was clean, staff were so friendly, the facility was beautiful and location was perfect
Nothing
Beautiful, comfortable rooms with fantastic view of the harbor. Can’t beat the location in terms of convenience and view. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The small downside to the location is it can be a little noisy at night.
The location and room were excellent. The staff and specifically Christina M was an absolute champion to deal with from the first moment we arrived. A great experience and would highly recommend this property.
* A few more details on how to get from the parking to the location when you have multiple suitcases can be testing. * no elevator between ground floor and 1st floor.* please note it’s not possible to build the shaft vs the lack of insight to create it. This is tricky when you have suitcases to get to 1st floor where the elevator services all floors. However all staff eager to help and assist.
5 stars, gorgeous accommodation. Staff were incredibly helpful.
Nothing
There was no parking close to the hotel and long walk with luggage to get there. No elevator from ground to 1st level. Breakfast was so so.
The most beautiful suite in Chania. The view is breathtaking, location is perfect, interior design is wonderful, the moorish elements are so delicate and creatively. The service was great. I strongly recommend it. Thanks.
Nothing
Location, restoration, cleanliness and staff were amazing
Wonderful, stylish, small hotel. The staff were amazing and very helpful and friendly but subtle. Views of the harbour and lighthouse are fantastic and there are super dining options a few steps away. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.
Wow, what a gorgeous hotel. The location is the best in town. They have thought of everything, we had a stunning room with a balcony with the most spectacular views. I was concerned that it would be noisy at night but they have installed the best soundproofing ever! The breakfast ladies were all friendly and eager to help, the front desk were amazing particularly the lovely Christina who was incredibly helpful. This is a wonderful small hotel with great linens, pillows and staff in one of the most picturesque places I've ever been.
Small little hotel tucked right in the heart of Chania. We had 2 rooms for a family of 5. They provided a roll away for one of this kiddos. This place has the BEST location. We had rooms with balconies that faced the water. Best people watching ever. VERY busy part of town yet the hotel is a quiet oasis from it all. Lovely rooms. The rooms were very large actually. The air-conditioner works great! (unlike other hotels we stayed at) Plenty of nice fluffy towels, bath products provided. Coffee/Nespresso machine in room. And they gifted us a bottle of wine upon arrival! We were only able to partake in the delicious breakfast one morning. Yogurt, fruit, chia seeds, overnight oats, pastries, eggs made to order.... It was a generous offering. AND great coffee also! Would defiantly stay here again next time I was in Crete. Would recommend to family and friends. The staff is helpful and nice. Arranged a very early morning transfer for us! The hotel also shipped a forgotten item to us. In my opinion, the fact they called us to connect us with the item was beyond service. They took the time to ship it and then followed up to make sure we received the item. They go above and beyond. This hotel and the staff are TOP NOTCH!! Will recommend to anyone traveling to Chania. STAY AT Scala De Faro. Incredible!!
A perfect location at the picturesque Venetian harbour in old town Chania. Comfortable, cosy hotel. Helpful and friendly staff. Descent breakfast. Special thanks to the Cretan-Serbian girl Anka at the reception.
We just left the hotel and already miss it. Location was perfect. Beautiful views with fantastic food and drink options within steps. The staff worked very hard to ensure our stay was perfect. A special shoutout to Christina and Anna for going above and beyond, always greeting us with a smile and treating us so well. If either of you read this, thank you so much! Ron and Lisa
This hotel is in the absolute best location in Old Town Chania putting you in the center of all the action and the best views whether you like people-watching or staring at the sea. The room decor and amenities were definitely among the best I have seen. Everyone on the staff was cheerful, courteous and always going the extra mile to make our stay memorable. The breakfast spread was amazing too. We had an early check out at 4 AM and they made sure to send us off with a packed breakfast which was a pleasant surprise. The closest parking spots are a short stroll away but we didn't mind it at all because you can enjoy the beautiful views of the lighthouse or take in the charming narrow streets and pet the cats on your walk from your car. We would definitely stay here again to be in the heart of Old Town Chania and explore the countless beaches and eating spots along the coast.
This is a boutique hotel, in a great location , right on the harbour. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had 4 nights in the top floor suite, looking over Chania . It was spacious, light-filled and had a good feeling. Outside the door are literally hundreds of cafes and shops and a buzzing night life. The only negative was that a night club started thumping music at about mid-night, so we solved the problem with ear plugs.
This boutique Hotel is a gem located in Chania. Our room was clean and roomy and had a great balcony view overlooking the town restaurants, shopping and the Caldera and was directly across from the Lighthouse. The buffet breakfast was included and quite lovely. All the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Cristina was the concierge and greeted us with a warm smile and was extremely professional. She went over and above to make our experience the best it could be and stress-free. Cristina made suggestions and reservations for us and made sure we were happy every step of the way during our stay. I just wanted to recognize and thank Christina for making our first impression and experience in Greece the best it could be. Cristina took so much pride and joy in her job we actually thought she was the owner. As a business owner myself I know what a rare find that is. Cristina thank you again for making our experience the best. Hope to see you next time we visit Greece. へ く Done Done
Excellent hotel!delicious breakfast, perfect ubication, absolutely comfortable bed and shower..Stuff was wonderful and gave us an amazing recommendation for dinner and lunch. We are extra happy with our stay!
Good to know that since it is an old building in the old center, the taxi cannot come directly and there are stairs to get up to the room. But the stuff was so helpful with all, that it did not affect our stay, but made charming.
Great location, room was very well put together with a nice bed, bathroom and balcony over looking the harbour.
I don’t feel it was worth €400 a night
Wow. We have a room with a balcony over looking the harbor and directly across from the lighthouse. What more could one ask? Enjoying the wonderful area from the privacy of your room is truly a great experience. Rooms are comfortable and beautiful. Breakfast is included which is always a bonus when traveling. You do have to walk to the hotel but our driver brought our bags for us. The hotel will bring the bags to your room, no elevator from 1st to 2nd floor but they have a chair lift for those that can not climb. Great shopping and dining in the area.
The location of the hotel is the best in Chania and maybe in Crete ,its in the center of the old harbour. The breakfast is really good! The service was PERFECT, Cristina and Anita was so Kind to us. Cristina helped us to discover Chania and the erea with a lot of patience and kindness. She really upgraded our vacation. Thank you 🙏🏼
the rooms are small than we expected and there is no cabinets.
The location and the balcony us to die for
the breakfast was amazing, outstanding -- and different every day (very creative). All Staff were so kind, helpful. Reception staff were outstanding, so welcoming, helpful throughout out visit. Very good with recommendations, from where to eat, to parking. They consistently went above and beyond expectations. We enjoyed absolutely every interaction with them, they made our visit such a positive experience.
We could have stayed longer!! Seriously, we were very sorry to leave, 4 nights were good but it could easily have been longer, with so much to do in the Chania area.
Lovely building with good size rooms. Fantastic location in the heart of everything but still quiet. Extremely helpful, friendly staff. Great breakfast.
Shower part of room, which happens a lot in Greece, but this leaked into the room. Tap was out of ceiling above sink which gave no pressure. Only there for one night so not too much of a problem.
The location was fantastic; Cristina and the rest of the staff were tremendously helpful and attentive, and breakfast was great!
Location and time he staff
5 star hotel apparently. No bar, no lounge, no room service. Breakfast is basic. Room was small. No wardrobe, no draws or cupboards or any storage. Bathroom is tiny, and badly lit.
Lovely boutique hotel in the perfect location of the picturesque town of Chania. Our room faced the water and was wonderful -simply but elegant. I would suggest better lighting in the bathroom. Breakfast was ok, somewhat limited. Great staff, engaging and made you feel that you were in a special place. Very helpful-
The best part of the stay was our interaction with Christina. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful time. The hotel location was awesome, right in the middle of the old town.
Having to find parking on the outside of the Old Town. The first day we arrived, not being familiar with the town, we struggled to find a place to park. It was mush easier the second day.
The Service was great and very welcoming. Have to mention Christina in the reception who is unique and really made my stay exceptional and a 5 star experience.
Hotel entrance and interiør in general (except the room) - does not look/ feel like a 5 star hotell. Crappy elevator and no elevator in first floor.
Amazing location. Can’t wait to return.
